I wish an after-market company would make a perfectly fitting LARGER gas tank for this bike. It really needs a 5+ gallon tank. Add some after-market shocks (plus some wind protection, a rear rack, and a dry duffle bag) and this could be the perfect light solo-touring machine (especially for smaller riders). The biggest hole in the industry is the lack of touring machines designed for smaller people. Most of the touring bikes are 650 to 1000 lbs.

A thought about speed limiters: Many manufacturers use them and rarely because the bike 'sucks'. Often it is due to the contract they have with tire manufacturers for stock tires. A speed limiter prevents the rider from exceeding the speed rating on those factory tires. Some times a bike may be sold in a market where insurance rates go up with too much top speed. Lots of reasons.
Just enjoy it and then flash the ecu when your warranty expires.

My local Honda shop gave me the opportunity to test ride the DCT automatic version of this bike. Other than the seating position a little awkward at first I kinda fell in love with it. As a long haul cruiser, the DCT makes sense, but if it was my only bike I would much prefer a traditional clutch and gearbox.

Good bike especially for a new model. 100 mph top no problem for me. Will never go over 75 mostly 50 mph.I like it. Nice towns you’re riding through. Beginner or advanced bike is very subjective. I would ride the 1100 mostly in rain mode anyway or maybe standard sometimes on freeway. But I really like the cruise control and the electronics. Just hurry with the accessories. A video trip to California would be interesting in particular how you fitted it out your bike for travel.

Really love all the videos Burch, as someone who bought their first Rebel 500 last year I've enjoyed watching your content and have found it extremely helpful. Not to be a total Debby Downer, but my biggest gripe thusfar about the Rebel 1100 has simply been my inability to get my hands on one! I understand supply chains have been suffering as of late and perhaps I should just practice more patience, but I've been looking to upgrade from my 2019 500 and the nearest options are over 100 miles away. I can't even find bike to test ride unfortunately, and now I'm looking at maybe moving to the 650 class of Nake Bikes (The Triumph Trident in particular) which have also caught my interest and seem to have actual inventory to check out. Anyway, here's to hoping Honda can get some more 1100's out to the public sooner rather than later, maybe I'm just living in the wrong area? If your Maryland to Cali ride does happen, you're welcome to crash here in central Indiana. Cheers and keep up the great work!

Thanks, interesting video. I am just over a month into my Rebel 500. I had been off of two wheels for like 10 years so I was sure I wanted something small and manageable. I almost got the 300 and I'm glad I didn't because after like two days of riding the 500, I was ready to get the 1100! It really is like riding a bike. Realistically I think I was ready to ride an 1100 because my previous bike (Suzuki GSX-R crotch rocket) really taught me to respect the throttle. I spent the last 30 days realizing I can actually rip the throttle on these less powerful, cruisers.
I think the biggest hurdle to the 1100 is that it crosses that price point into new class of bike. If I'm going to pay $10K+ for a bike, I feel like I should be looking at Harleys or something. It becomes a totally different shopping affair. I like that the Rebel 3/500 are kind of this toy entry point that you don't have to take too seriously but ends up being a lot of fun when you get it.
Also, if you end up in Los Angeles, I will totally go on a Rebel ride with you.

@@DJ-wu2qc I have a good friend who loves to ride, and has been doing so for years. He was involved in an accident (not his fault) that caused him some pretty bad nerve and ortho damage in his left leg/foot. He tried to get back on a manual bike, but couldn’t ride for long due to pain after shifting. He got a 750x DCT model, and I’ve literally seen people come up and compliment the bike when we are parked until they realize it’s an automatic, and immediately he was told one time “you should learn to ride a manual transmission because that’s the only way a bike should be rode”. It’s a ridiculous assumption to assume just because he was on an automatic that he didn’t know how to ride. Riders just need to learn to accept that automatic transmissions are becoming increasingly popular as time moves on, and they’re appealing to a wide range of new and old riders. That’s all I was trying to say, sorry for making the assumption you were being negative towards an automatic.

Check air pressure in tire, my rebel 1100 had 40 in rear and 38 in front, bike says 33 front and rear, much better know.

Well, I like my old '04 1100 Spirit and I like the old school aesthetic better than the new Rebels. That said, I'm jealous for the ABS, Cruise Control, Fuel Injection, and ya get about 10 more MPG.

just purchased a 1100 with the red color tho, modified the seat to be thicker and added an ass shelf, and i gotta say that stock suspension isn't too bad after that. But i'd probably raise it too before next summer.

I think the 500 with aftermarket shocks would be the sweet spot. The valves are also much easer to adjust. The Africa Twin motor needs the cams to come out for the intake valves. On the 500 you can simply remove the rocker arms.

Shouldn't take long for companies like Dynajet to Crack the code on the ECM and remove that speed limiter. But 100mph is plenty fast.

I’ll be following your channel closely. I just put in my deposit for a DCT model of the 1100. My delivery is set for mid-January. I’ve got a Street 750 HD right now and even with some tweaking, the rear suspension isn’t that great. I thought getting the Honda might be better. I’ll be waiting on your review when you start dialing down the rear suspension. More power to you and keep the vids coming. From California, keep riding and be safe.

Congrats on putting down your deposit! That’s exciting! I’ve tweaked the rear suspension some and got it to be much better than it was, but still not perfect. I do have new Burly Brand suspension that will be going on soon and should REALLY help out! Also, check out Quasimotard’s channel if you haven’t already. He has some pretty in-depth videos where he dialed in his suspension!

Good acceleration. Great exhaust note. The paint wearing off is dreadful. Is the 100 mph limit just something the American market bikes have? Good to hear it handles so well.
I'd suggest something really cheap for a first bike. Maybe a 250 cc trailie as it doesn't matter if you drop it.
I am considering a 1100 DCT, but the only modification I'll bother with is a sissy bar as they are great for strapping luggage to. Yep, I'll watch any videos you do on the road.
Good video with some nice scenery. What is the town's name by the water?

First, really nice review and opinions. That twitchy throttle response is inherent in Indian bike sport modes also. I sat on one last week at dealer in Troy, Ohio. For an older person it was a bit cramped. Is their any word about forward controls like they have for the Rebel 500 coming for this bike. I really want to add a smaller bike to compliment my Victory Cross Country. Last year I sold my Magna, ( 99, yes black and orange ) one of 7 Hondas I have owned over my 40 years of riding. I will need a screen or the Honda fairing, and driver floorboards also. Probably best for a me to wait a few months and see if the aftermarket addresses my needs.
