  • My first ride on the 2021 Honda Rebel CMX1100. I compare the Rebel 1100 with the Rebel CMX500, a bike that I personally own. In this video I share my first impressions as I review the Rebel 1100, continuing my search for the best beginner bike and best cruiser motorcycle.
    The Honda Rebel 1100 definitely has more power and highway capability over my Rebel 500, and I'm hoping to get my hands on the Indian Scout and Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 soon!
    Let me know what you think of BOTH the Honda Rebel 1100cc and the Rebel 500cc in the comments, and please subscribe to join our growing community!
    Ride safe.

    • @Duckie313
      @Duckie313 3 года назад +6

      Having owned both, I prefer the 1100. I felt the 500 coming up short on power sometimes, the 1100 has oodles of it. Also, by using modes actively on the 1100 you get a smoother ride. Sport / standard modes are twitchy on the accelerator, but in stop-and-go traffic, or just going slowly through city streets, flick it over in rain mode for non-twitchy lazy cruising. You can swap on the fly, so easy to hop back and forth.

    nice vid mate. I started riding 2 months ago. The Rebel 1100 manual is my very first bike. In my opinion, as a more mature rider (57), it is an awesome beginner bike if you are sensible and disciplined and use the programmable ride modes properly. It is really stable at low speeds, fast cruising on the motorways and agile in the twisties. 12 - 18 months I will be upgrading to the Indian Chief.

    The DCT is great in manual shift mode. I only run mine in manual mode. Shifts by push button extremely fast, it’s like instant shift. I don’t care for automatic mode that much, it never seems to shift when I want it to and drive me crazy. In most modes it stays in way too high of a gear. Have almost 5k miles, and have done maybe 100 in automatic mode.

    Its the journey not always the destination..Having said that, the journey can mean fuel efficiency, acceleration and nimbleness, handling etc....60 miles per hour is the same on an 1100 Rebel and 500 Rebel..or is it? so I guess its up to you THE RIDER to determine your riding needs...if you rarely go on highway, travel around town etc.. then an 1100 Rebel is probably not for you on the other hand, if you always ride on the Interstate, 65 to 80 miles per hour, then the 1100 Rebel would be a better fit. BOTH are cool bikes but my preference for around town, shorter highway jaunts would be the Rebel 500.. Peace and Ride to Live.

    Everyone dissess the rain mode. But it gives the smoothest throttle response and still gives near full power at about 4000 rpm so best still check you hang on.

    I hadn't ridden in 40 years, so I bought this bike because of the modes and technology. I rode away from the dealership in rain mode, and when I felt comfortable, I moved into the Standard mode. I went to Sport mode around 500 miles. It was a good idea for me, and it's in the dealership getting the 600 miles maintenance done. I'm still doing back roads. It does seem to LOVE curves and turns. I feel comfortable at 5'9" tall, and I think I made a good decision. I do want a passenger seat & sissy bar, plus a windshield, better handgrips, and a more comfortable seat. Maybe saddle bags or luggage rack in the future.

    🇺🇸 The DCT model is great for those who can’t use a clutch and/or shift lever for various reasons. Of course it’s always better to first learn using a manual bike if possible, but beginners can start off in “Rain Mode” with either version of this bike. I have the 2022 DCT and I love it because it allows me to focus more on what’s going on around me as opposed to shift timing, friction zones etc.., but of course I had to do a few modifications like swapping out the stock seat and muffler! The “Memphis Shades Batwing” windscreen was an absolute necessity for me as well. But overall, this is the best cruiser on the market if you’re not so worried about aesthetics. The Indian Bobbers or Harley Sportsters are better looking with the V-Twins, but way more expensive and they don’t outperform the Rebel CMX1100’s!!! And I can’t forget about the low maintenance costs for this bike, it’s a Honda so routine maintenance is really all that’s required, unlike some other bikes! By now I hope you decided to get one! Awesome video, thanks. 👍

    Hello there, Ride YEG! 1st time on the channel, and 1st time commenting. I love Honda Rebel's series, so i'm looking for information about the new Rebel, and here i am. 😅
    For what i can tell, just by looking at the photos of it, it feels like the Rebel 1100's seat might be quite unconfortable during long rides. That was already an issue on the 500 version. What is your opinion about it?
    03:40 I disagree about that largely spread statement that the Rebel 1100 is a "beginner motorcycle" - usually used by bikers that already have been driving high CC's motorcycles for a while.
    In my experience, no high horse powered motorcycle like the Rebel 1100, is a beginner bike, even if it's a cruiser. An example of a beginner bike is the Keeway K-Light 125cc or the Superlight 125cc. (european examples)
    04:07 «If you have the discipline and riding experince, i really think you can start on this as a beginner (...)»
    - I have to make a correction in that (false) idea that you expressed: IF YOU ALREADY «have the discipline and riding experience», YOU'RE NO BEGINNER. Does it make sense?👨‍🏫
    Since this Rebel 1100 is considered a Cruiser/Sportster but its seat is not that confortable for big rides, it might be wrongly categorized. What do you think about that?
    Congratulations for the video! Keep on the Rebel love💜
    Have a great weekend, mate!😉

    • @RideYEG
      @RideYEG  3 года назад +4

      Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. While I didn't get to test ride for more than 1 hour, the 1100's special edition seat was definitely more comfortable than my 500's seat. I can't speak to how it does for multiple hour rides.
      3:40 - I stated that I'll be discussing whether or not the 1100 could potentially be a beginner motorcycle, not that it is one. Here in North America, the average engine displacement is much higher than the rest of the world due to higher speed roads and highways. A common scenario for new riders here is they'll start on a 250-500cc bike and outgrow it within a month or two, and want to upgrade to something bigger.
      4:07 - I was implying that if you have discipline in areas outside of your life, you could potentially start on the 1100. In terms of riding experience, many riders in North America will take MSF courses prior to buying their first motorcycle, or they grew up on dirt bikes. They're still considered a beginner on the road.
      The Rebel 1100 is certainly an innovative cruiser, if anything its a sport oriented cruiser. The seat comfort is a subjective aspect that can vary from rider to rider.
      Hope this clears things up and thanks for your comment.
      Ride safe✌️

      @@RideYEG I'm returning to riding after decades off (for the most terrible reason ever). Probably getting the 1100 DCT and keeping it in Rain mode for awhile until I have my feet back. MSF class and everything -- I'm treating myself as a new rider. But at my age, I also have no interest in lane splitting on a highway at 100mph or doing wheelies on main street in flip flops and a tee-shirt. I just want to go out and camp in boring, non-backwoods sites and do morning runs to a park and have breakfast while watching the ducks.
      This seems like a solid occasional long trip bike that does well for daily casual riding. And I like the DCT for the simplicity. I'm not old enough to want a GoldWing -- I like a little reminder that I'm on a bike. As a friend said, you don't want pain, but you don't want to end a day without some aches that remind you of the cool things you did and saw.

    Better looking (1100 engine with pipes and electric looks ugly)
    Doesn't have all those electronic gizmos to go wrong
