No, but also for open world, it should be more like Metro Exodus, it was an open world but a linear mission and it worked out great. Infinite was linear in open world, but, it wasn't as good as Metro did when they made a linear open world campaign.

@@OrbitalSnapshots2455agreed, like tbh I really just wanted a spinoff in Mass effect style that lets us play as Kig Yar space pirates throughout the length of the human/covenant war and recruit/play as all the other races in "open level" format designed more like an extraction game. Give us some pirate adventure, horror, but generally lower stakes than the mainline games, imagine trying to get in and out of flood infection worlds as a marine or grunt or hunter, or escaping an elite planet gassing with some nicely reverse engineered Oni prophet engines...
I wanted that ever since H3, we had the multiplayer we all loved anyways, so just update that with other race options and multiplayer is a whole new game.

If it's time travel, I am done with Halo. There ate two rules in story telling
1) Never do time travel unless that is the what you plan on from the very beginning (like back to thr future). Trying to insert it into a story later ALWAYS leads to disaster

Tbh I'm done. I just miss the hsrdcore militiristic vibe Halo Reach had. It really felt like you were fighting aliens from another planet.
Halo has so much potential. So much untold stories: insurectionist game that could tie in with a odst campaign or better yet them fighting and then suddenly the covenant invaded
A horror Halo game: the Mona Lisa would be a perfect place for this game. You're on a floodinfested ship and have to fight for your survival as a marine and try to escape, even a possible multiple outcomes
The Invasions of other colonies. Imagine as the game starts you just walk as a civilian and suddenly boom a covenant ship suddenly appears, covie dropships deploy and start killing everything, you have to escape to an shio that brings you off the colony. As you make it the ship lifts off and you see your planet burned and all in the window and this then switches to a visor (an ODST or Spartan 3 visor) and then the games begin with multiple campaigns on multiple planets where the protagonist fights.
So much potential but yet wasted. It's like a pattern. Disney has the same thing eith Star Wars.... So much unused potential

Agreed. So much time passes now between these games being released a lot of fans just move on. And it’s all down to piss-poor development and organisation. No one is going to get excited about a new story we’ll get in 3-6 years when 343 still have 3 unfinished stories from their last 3 games.

Halo Reach Spartans looked so good and they made not one but six new Spartans fan favorites after Master Chief had become an icon.
I have thought along similar lines. There is a startling lack of imagination. I miss that most games these days do not have multiple campaigns that lets you explore the other side.
At this point we need a spiritual successor, made by a passionate indie developer that doesn’t have to bow down to shareholders. Bonus points if the story takes place after events suspiciously similar to Halos Reach-3.

Yes, there is a way to be optimistic about any future Halo title Microsoft. Give Halo to id Software Microsoft, and have the Halo universe fuse with Doom or Quake if 343 Industries bungles Halo 7. Or Valve. Or Santa Monica Studios or From Software or any of the developers you spent $69 billion on. 343 Industries gets one last chance, only because in spite of Infinites failures, Angry Joe was correct, the core gameplay of Halo Infinite is easily a 10/10 experience.

It’s honestly impressive seeing the “faith” Microsoft has for 343. We’re all praying halo leaves 343’s hands, as they have proven to be nothing but incompetent. That game loop gets insanely boring when you realize there is a slog grind fest to it. I tried insider when I first got it, and could tell the holes the game had that still persists to this day. I’d say halo 5 had a really fun gameplay too, but that doesn’t mean the game is good still. The story of halo’s direction is straight up nonsensical now. 343 has failed multiple times. I just think evidence shows that there shouldn’t be false optimism.

I couldn’t care less about Banished, Spirit of Fire and the further bs. All that stuff isn’t halo anymore. When I played it in early 2000s it was the most realistic science fiction / alien invasion shooter there was. Might sound silly but it looked almost real with the technical standard back then. Now it’s a comic game with a fucked up lore

Halo 7: Microtransactions
I just hope they release the game as a complete paid for bundle rather than working with a F2P model since if the game is paid in full then if there are micro-transactions they might be a bit less predatory compared to Infinite. I still think they should go for what I keep calling a "pay to get quick" system where you can use I'm game currency to buy items and you can either earn the currency for free through just playing the game or buy it through micro-transactions. Also do not put permanent time limits on items as is the case with the BP. The system I would want (though the EA controversy makes this unlikely) is lootbox system similar to but crucially different from the one in H5G. The one thing I will not stand for though is game effecting items like weapons and vehicles being part of it.

Time travel is always a stupid cop out and it never works well unless it’s in the series from the beginning. All they are doing is retconning and I hate it. As far as I’m concerned at this point, chief is still asleep in that pod waiting for us to wake him when we need him, and everything that has supposedly happened post 3 is all just a bad dream.

2012, 2015, and 2021:
Honestly, I really enjoyed the multiplayer on Halo 5. Some can say it was too competitive, but it felt different and unique. They tried the whole ADS thing, and the thruster move crap. But when it comes to campaign, I do agree that 343 didn't really do a good job. Halo infinite's story is a mixed bag. Their are some players who love it, or some hate it. And I do understand it's flaws like why did they just completely ignore the flood? And why are they super focused on the whole "Endless" thing? And why do some of the Elite's still call you demon even though they are not part of the Covenant anymore. It's kinda confusing tbh. I know this is random, but my favorite Halo is Halo 3 ODST. It has amazing soundtracks and an amazing story. It also introduced firefight! Bungie shows that you don't need Master Chief to make a great Halo game. The same thing has Halo 2! You get to play as the Arbiter, and that's what I liked about Bungie is that they want players to see the Covenant's POV and the hell divers POV. 343's campaigns are so boring because nothing is new, really, and it's like, oh, kill this bad guy to save the ring for the 800th time! I think that 343 is out of touch, and they don't really know what the gamers want.

I just can't understand how EFFIN hard is it for them to make a new Halo game and bring back The Spirit of Fire, Red Team, Blue Team and The Arbiter back into the fold, if they bring back these characters they would please at least 3/4 of the fan base! This was simple to do, the host plays with Chief, the others play with their personalized Spartans, that is of course if they don't include the Red Team or Blue Team in the story, which I would prefer, but it would be a simple option that should have already been done in Halo Infinite

No time travel. No open world. Linear campaign with a solid story.
Atriox story I think should go in 2 ways:
1.he needs the endless to figure out how to time travel. So he can go back in time to stop cortana blowing up his home planet or something like that
2.learn how to avoid being destroyed by the rings from the endless and then look to set the rings off once he knows how. Wiping the galaxy clean bar himself and the endless as revenge for his home planet.
The above will go deeper in the story for the endless and have atriox story as the main protagonist and somewhere in all that the flood will try to intervene to stop it and infest the whole place.
All I’m gonna say is the bar is on the floor for the next halo. We’ve heard it all before every other 343 Halo game and always have been left disappointed. 343/Microsoft only care about money and how to maximize profits, AAA games no longer care about fans.

I think the timeless ones are the race that the precursors made to catelog and hasten a complete flood takeover of the galaxy. Precursors from other galaxies can then come over and observe everything. "Sweetness" as The Captive said.
Or yet again 343 scraps the story and villains set up and we get the 4th or 5th new villain and story. Which is what they've in every other game. I won't get invested in anything set up in 343 games until they last longer than a single game, which they never do.

I think mendicant Bias played a much larger role behind the scenes in halo 2 and 3. I think i want to compile my thoughts a bit more and put it down into a video format, but, we know that a fragment of mendicant bias was in the high charity systems. she alluded to it once in the actual game, and never spoke about it again and had no issues accessing the high charity network, and even refused to leave high charity. I'm beginning to wonder if she was trying to help mendicant escape the flood. she wouldve only revealed herself to the flood if she had a reason, and its highly unlikely that he would not reveal the logic plague to her. i think cortana wanted to bring mendicant bias back together, which the automated forerunner systems might not have wanted, and would trigger the deployment of offensive bias, who probably has a guarded suspicion that mendicant has been freed from the logic plague
I don't think this is going down the standard "time-travel" route as I thought Zeta halo was stuck in a time lock (or has the ability to do so) which is why the Grand Edict was talking about trapping the Endless in time so they could never return, not that the endless have time-travel abilities. If I'm wrong or missed any details lmk as I am rusty on this info. :D
I wonder how Atriox's use of time travel would be reconciled with his belief in accepting fate. His response to the "If you knew how you were going to die, how would you live your life differently?" query suggests that he doesn't spend time in hypotheticals or regret any of his decisions (even the realized annihilation of his homeworld Doisac did not force a surrender!). Perhaps he understands that there was a factor that he missed during his rise to power, and now with the hindsight to understand its importance, will go back and create a Banished dominance.
Lots of room for error here, but I'm all for it if the new management at 343 decides to use this to undo the "Reclaimer Saga." A mass retcon would be welcome if the new content surpasses the old (which is not a high bar to begin with if we're talking about Halo 4, 5, and Infinite)
Halo 7 should do something similar to Halo 3 ODST. Where Master Chief would search around the open world map and stumble upon evidence of Infinity's crew. Or rather remove a recording chip from a spartan helmet and play it back with his helmet like he did in Combat evolve. In that process, we can play the missions related to those recovered recordings, playing as an anonymous spartan or perhaps as spartans with names. I'd prefer the former since it would give us the opportunity to play as a custom spartan in the campaign like in Reach.
The Halo Infinite ending IS NOT time travel and here’s why :
It’s extensively mentioned throughout the campaign of Halo Infinite that the Silent Auditorium is probably a time lock or that at least the time flows differently.
How do we know this? As we see during the campaign we learn that Atriox is tough death or at least missing for at least 6 months, how this ties to the Silent Auditorium? And it ties thanks to scenes with Atriox and Cortana, where she met Atriox specifically on the Silent Auditorium with Atriox asking for the location of the Endless.
How was he missing 6 months? first we check the final mission of Chief entering the Silent Auditorium and defeating the Harbinger, where we learn that Chief was gone for days while being for a few hours or even less inside the Silent Auditorium, so how does it connects everything together? with what we know about the Silent Auditorium having a different time flow, we get that was missing for 6 months because he was inside the Silent Auditorium searching for the Endless (with the legendary ending having a date for the audio playing, not the place itself), all this backed up by Chief being missing days besides being there for a few hours.
So in resume, the Silent Auditorium and Atriox traveling trough time is a misconception of the time shenanigans of Halo Infinite’s campaign
If 343 is going to make another Halo game, they can do Spin-offs. I would like to play as the Arbiter again fighting alongside other Spartans, like Fireteam Osiris. Fighting off more Floods, Elite Pirates and Covenant cultists. Time Travel would never work in Halo because it's too similar to Star Trek and Star Gate. Halo is about preventing the Ring World weapon from falling into the wrong hands.
I've always suspected the Endless survived the firing because of their shenanigans with time, rather than their biology. I imagine they existed out of sync with time, or in a time lock. Maybe they can't time travel, but can maniulpulate time to a small degree.
No time travel, But 1 thing we need is to bring the survivors back together and establish some sort of base or at least command structure. Then we need to beat the crap out of Atriox and get our revenge for Infinity intro. Then we can take on what ever is left after that.
Halo is finished. It's time to let it rest for a decade. And for the sake of the franchise, give Halo to anyone else instead of 343 Industries. Their handling of the series has been disastrous.
Halo rested for 6 years between 5 and infinite. The last thing it needs is a huge gap.
They need to pump more out. Same with Gears, more than 4 years between games is whats killing them

@@meerkat5818 I’d take 3 bad or even meh games in 10 years than nothing. Honestly that 6 year gap between halo games did more harm than good. People lose enthusiasm for a property that has nothing on the horizon. It’s happening with Gears as we speak and it happened to Halo.
Infinite isn’t an amazing halo game, but it’s not a bad game. Mechanically it’s pretty good and story is fine. Heck even multiplayer is fun. It had a bad launch and clearly the 343 higher ups held most of the responsibility.
However I think it’s important to say I don’t feel 343 as a company are the ones at fault, microsoft are. Microsoft are the ones who kept those higher ups in charge for over 10 years, riddled the game with micro transactions, layed off countless employees when it launched incomplete and are the ones diverting funds away from infinite. With the new management now in place and MS not being greedy, 343 could probably make a great halo game.
@@samwright1821 MS not being greedy? I don't think that's gonna happen. 343 and Microsoft are one in the same. We see the exact same problems 343 has in another Microsoft studio, Turn 10. Their latest release of Forza Motosport is a total turd. Halo needs to be freed from Microsoft somehow if we ever want to expect a properly good game.
Halo is alive and well
It should start with Chiefs ending Cortana. Then he wakes up turning out halo 5 and infinite was all a dream and he mourns her death. Then he gets word on an attack atrioxs has done. (Something that has already happened in the story but a dream for chief) chief realize hes getting dreams of the future and wants answer. He goes on a mission to find whats her name from halo 4 that saved him from the diadact. He soon finds out the banish is looking for something she has access too as well
The perfect Halo campaign to me could be a Metro-style level design. Remember: It's a story, notan amusement park.
There is the concept of living time in halo. Controlling this would be different to time travel imo. It seems to tell a story of working with it to modify the future more than the past

I feel like time travel would be really touch and go. Could give a good result, but it could easily be a flop. On the other hand if Halo 7 did flashbacks as to what happened there could be a lot of potential. Now hear me out. Many people have talked about how Master Chief doesn't need to be the main character of all of the Halo games because of all of the stories within the Halo universe. What if this game was used as a branching point to achieve that by having you play as Master Chief, but when you encountered certain characters or items Master Chief would try to get an update on what they know for events starting with the battle at the beginning of Halo 6 by talking to the character or investigating the item and any information on it. When going through the flashbacks though you would play as the character having the flashback, someone connected to the character having the flashback, or in more of a third person view as a soldier that was there at the time. This would have Master Chief as the main character while giving the community a chance to experience what it is like to have a character other than Master Chief get their side of the story explained. It also allows to get a better understanding of what happened. Also when I say someone connected to the character I mean for example in the flashback playing as a Spartan and showing what happened with Palmer as they fought their way through the ship ultimately to have a conclusion that doesn't give a definitive answer as to what happened to Palmer so that when you find Palmer you can get the conclusion of what happened. By doing it like that they can build interest and suspense for the flashbacks while breaking them up so they don't feel too long. Halo 6 in a way was laying the foundation for why Master Chief was there and why everyone was scattered so maybe Halo 7 will have gathering allies to fill in the the blanks while moving forward in the story. Also regarding the item investigation and playable flashback stuff we know it is possible because of odst.
Halo should keep the original straight forward levels just with many more play styles to beat them with more of them. So that they can keep the big cinematics and be able to add onto the original idea rather than not use it.
Though they could do open world levels. Where each area is like a small odst map with missions that are contained within them. After a particular set of missions are done they are forced to progress to the next area. This I think would solve the open world problem where a lot of it feels empty. In addition after completing the main game you can select some of the open areas you want to return to and finish bonus missions that you couldn't before and after story content. This would allow to maintain the story with its original linear patterns but with a degree of freedom that it didn't have before halo infinite.

(Btw time travel was something I thought of immediately when I found that banished phantom with rings attached to it... The final mission was of course the affirmation of that though. I'll accept time travel as a one time means of restoring a cohesive story, establishing Canon for the franchise, and most importantly bringing back Cortana. She's as much a part of Halo as the flood, and deserved better than what she got in 5 and infinite. If they make it ALL about time travel it'll just be another sci-fi story about time travel.
I need an expansion that goes thru how the guardians were stopped from the perspective of one if the spartans so i can customize and fill in tbe gaps of the f'ing missing story line. What if in Halo 7, have the spirit of fire return to help rebuild the infinity and regroup the UNSC before getting attacked. Then, with all hope, seeming lost have the unsc fleet and other allies appear to save the day.
It's always fun to come up with theories for what's to come. But keep in mind that before every release, we would spend months or even years theorizing what's next and be completely wrong every time. Taking clues from the previous 343 titles has seemed to lead us to the wrong conclusion every time. I wouldn't put it past them to not even mention Atriox, the Endless, the endless, or the Flood. It's safe to assume that the new writers and developers for the new Halo title will most likely try to start a new arc that will likely let us fans down again, especially if we spend the next development period trying to predict what it will be. We've learned time and time again that no matter what we try to predict will happen, it typically never aligns with what 343 will do.
I don't think it's worth having literal time travel, more than anything just 'jumps' as if you were cryogenized like the three days at the end of Infinite, the initial part when the BDC comes out is for the audio of the monitor speaking, not for Atriox, Because if it were on that date, the Endless would not still be locked up, so it can't be in the past.
Something strange probably happens over time, but it will be more of a precursor thing, like the concept of living time and how it is broken because of the precursors. But time travel as such I don't think so.
The Halos are aligning for Didact and Chief to have to work together to stop the Endless/Precursors
I feel like atriox is just tryna use the harbingers race powers of time travel to go back in time to save the planet of doisac from being destroyed by Cortana maybe even stop her before it came to that. Just a theory and hope they make a good story after this.
My hope of a new halo game is if it could be something more like Jedi fallen order in exploration, you chose where to go and travel by the infinity. Able to call down a Spartan drop, chose your companion on single player, coop player gets to chose that companion, unlock companions like Palmer, lock, Arbiter, and more. Have the story be about finding the forerunner tech, make us able to upgrade the infinity, crew, and gear with said tech.

I still dont see 343 going down the time travel route nor do see any reason they would other than wild speculation. Im going to wait until we hear something of the story anounced by 343 themselves as what we've been going off of when speculating isn't much a cutscene that could be interpreted in a variety of different way with dialogue that is rather vague. I don't deny that Ofensive Bias is likely to be a part of the story with how much they have made reference to them but for now we have idea in what capacity he will appear or whether the flood will have anything to do with it.
I wanna see optional space travel/conflicts like Infinites random side missions. Like.. Wind Waker meets Star Fox and it's time to speed things up as well. The movement speed of Chief and NPC's, Halo has to switch it up already at least for the campaign.
Something I think of is, Halo Infinite may be called a soft reboot, but so did the leadership at 343i… but sadly H7 might still be endangered with how controlling and disconnected Microsoft is from the communities.
Halo is Human v Covenant, that's why ODST and Reach are both great Halo games without Flood or Halo rings. I'm down for time travel if we go back to before Halo 1 and just get Human v Covenant or retcon out the Flood though butterfly effects, otherwise there's no point.
The only acceptable scenario where time travel gets introduced into Halo is if 343 studio uses it to reset their entire side of the series. Just take us back after Halo reach and work with that.

Time travel has always been a problem in media regardless of it being Back To The Future, The MCU, etc and really there is no way to do it right without establishing rules even retconning events in the current or past events I think we don't need it and honestly right now with how bad they made Halo 5 Guardians and Infinite's story campaign. I have found a way to rewrite Halo 5's story and if the original intention was for history to repeat themselves like how mendicant Bias and turned on the forerunners due to the logic plague then offensive bias was created to stop his predecessor then having Cortana return would make sense and the weapons creation while keeping the banished as the new covenant faction. Now granted if they wanted to introduce the Endless originally they could have done what I had thought for a theory that they were also chosen by the precursors to be candidates for the mantle of responsibility but they like the forerunners failed to pass there test and the endless wouldn't hold it against humanity if they were chosen. I guess we can only hope that it gets better otherwise Halo is another dead franchise like many others before it. We need things and characters answered with the fate of what happened during the battle outside of Zeta Halo.
I'd like to see the next Halo game combine elements from Halo 3 and Halo 5. Imagine a game where, instead of the traditional four-player co-op from Halo 3, you can now have six players. Similar to Halo 5, you can choose your character. Player one is Master Chief by default, while player two can select from the Arbiter, Spartan Locke, or Jerome. Player three can choose from Douglas, Fred, Buck, or the Blue or Red Elite from Halo 3. Players four, five, and six could be other Spartans, Marines, or ODSTs. The combination of Blue Team and Red Team working together would be incredible, as Master Chief is going to need all the backup he can get.
Additionally, I would love to see a mix of Halo: Combat Evolved's expansive levels, Halo 2's storytelling, and Halo 3's atmosphere. This blend would make the next Halo game truly enjoyable. However, I prefer the game to remain linear rather than adopting an open-world format, while still offering plenty of activities and missions to engage players.
I really want and hope to see Chief interact with Offensive Bias, and have Offensive be an ally
It would be awesome if cheif found locke and they could do a duo like halo 3
