      I found when I had awful cramps on the first day (they’d literally nearly knock me unconscious they were so painful) painkillers etc didn’t work and the only way I could get them to ease up was going for a nap! It would take a while to fall asleep but it always helped! Also massively relate to this statement too. I use clue and discovered my last period ended on the 5th of April and then I started again on the 26th?! 😩 periods are not a fun time.

    I know the thigh gap obsession is unhealthy, but honestly it made me feel so much better to see that from one day to the next, you could have one and then not have one if your muscles were inflamed or you were retaining water! That kinda blew my mind. It's so easy to get caught in the trap of 'I'm not making progress' when I'm bloated for a few days, and I never realized how much our bodies actually fluctuate. Fantastic video as always Natacha ❤

    • @dainerystargaryen
      @dainerystargaryen 4 года назад +11

      well but i'm getting even more confused by that, like how do I know if there's some element of diet/exercise not working for me, or just a fluctuation?..

    • @malloryg4251
      @malloryg4251 4 года назад +44

      Can you explain to me why people care about having a thigh gap? I seriously don't get it. There are so many super fit women who don't have one, just because of how their bone structure is, not because of their body fat. I have a thigh gap because my legs naturally sit farther apart, but I am not skinny by any means!!

    • @juliakouts7453

    what I really love about this, is that to me, my fluctuations are so noticeable that I am scared to go out in form-fitting clothing when I feel "bloated". But after seeing this, where I really had to pay attention to notice any fluctuations, I realized that we are probably the only people that notice our own fluctuations.

      I have too many anecdotes to counter this, though, unfortunately 😅 I have done kung fu for 5 years and I always suck in my stomach while training, because I'm always somewhat bloated and the outfit we have to wear is quite tight. One day I decided not to suck my stomach in and three people commented on my body "have you gained weight?" so.. back to sucking in my stomach I guess. Also, back when I still lived with my mom, she always commented on my body whenever I would stop sucking in my stomach for a moment. Like, people literally think I've suddenly got fat within a split second

      Hey girl! I used to be the same way, and it was super difficult to let go of that fear. I was obsessed with having a flat stomach, and I thought that if I ate too much and felt bloated, it meant that I was going to gain tons of weight. I had to constantly remind myself that it was just food bulk, and as long as I stuck to my healthy, sensible diet, there was no way I was going to put on fat. Also, I have digestive issues, which means that I almost always feel bloated after a meal, and I just had to get used to it. Don't worry, if you persevere, you will eventually feel ok with your fluctuations. I never thought it would be possible for me, and now I'm finally at peace! Good luck : )

    You can't imagine how much I needed this video.... I suffer from REALLY REALLY BAD PMS symptoms as well as extremely painful periods. For two weeks a month not only my performance at the gym is affected but my whole life is- I find it hard to focus, I feel exhausted and sore and I can't do my best in any field. Thank you for showing me I'm not alone, you're such an inspiration, keep it real ♥️

    I cannot thank you enough for the content you create Natacha! You are SO real! I love how you share your body exactly how it is and how normal it is to actually bloat sometimes, be more energetic or less throughout the week and that we can be okay for not looking the same or burning the exact same calories every day! I love you! 💖🙂

    This video is so interesting and helpful, somedays when I look at my body I feel like I’ve lost all of my progress and the next day I love what I see in the mirror, so seeing someone as athletic and lean as you going through daily changes is like a reminder that we all go through this, and it doesn’t mean that we’ve lost anything, it’s just our bodies being bodies. Thank you Natacha for this video and all for all the effort and hard work you put in your channel . Love and kisses all the way from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦.

    Natacha,
    I needed to see this so so badly. This is amazing, I’m a very type A individual, I love working out and feeling in control. I’ve only been able to control my working outs, I was training for a marathon scheduled for last weekend that went virtual because of the current issues. I did do my marathon the other day and got a PR(I actually qualified for Boston marathon, but I’m not sure virtual marathons count😒) i struggle with taking rest days, this was awesome for me to see and I took an active rest day today just doing yoga to rest from the marathon in the hopes I’ll get some more progress next race! I love your videos they are so encouraging!

    I love how you talked about your performance decrease the days before your period! I always notice this too, the week before my period, but I used to not understand why this happened, and got really frustrated and hard on myself. But it's totally normal! I still go to the gym when that happens, but I can easily accept it now, when I notice I'm really not able to hit the same goals as usual. It's really interesting and one can learn a lot about oneself when paying attention to ones cycle!!

    This is awesome! Recently after a 14 mile run I was looking at the back of my legs and thinking "wow are my legs swollen or did I gain weight?" but nothing has changed in my eating, and I've been if anything more active since quarantine. I always thought of bloating as only in my stomach and maybe my fingers (i.e. rings fitting tighter), but it's so good to know that your whole body can swell because of stress put on it in training. Thanks for making such entertaining and informative videos!

    Thank you so much for making this video!! One thing I have always struggled with so much is accepting how much my body changes day to day, even before and after I workout. It’s always discouraging looking in the mirror in the morning on days when I’m more bloated and thinking that I’m going backwards in my progress instead of forwards. I think this video really helps me put into perspective how normal it is for my body to fluctuate, regardless of my diet/workouts and how unrealistic it is for me to expect my body to always look slim and lean like so many Instagram fitness models lead me to believe theirs always is

    I’m so glad you addressed how much the body changes through the menstrual cycle, there’s just not enough information out there for something so common and the effects on the body are so undeniably existent!
    A few months ago I started to do what you have done here and track the changes in my body. I can gain up to 7lbs in the week leading up to my period, and around 5 inches on my waist/stomach. These changes used to stress me as I was convinced that the one bar of chocolate I ate had undone all of my progress. My hormonal outlook would not have been in a position to think rationally that this probably isn’t the case, so I’d just have a meltdown instead.
    Having the photos to look at really helps me remember that all will go down once my period is over. My weight/measurements then drop down as to before, it’s like taking air out of an air mattress.
    It’s so validating to see your body changes and reinforces that it’s something that happens to so many people.
    You’re such a legend!

    Of all the fitness youtubers I've been watching for years, I'm so glad someone is finally so transparent about the actual struggle of periods for females athletes or just females tranna be fit and stronger and so on. I noticed that most of my injuries happened in the few days before a period, I think it's an overlooked parameter that should be talked about more when it comes to programming for females.

    Natacha, over the past 2 weeks I have discovered your content and can't thank you enough for the help and encouragement it has given me. I have gotten so bored and unmotivated over doing the same work outs again and again just to look good and stay "slim"... and more importantly to train to the point that I didn't have to face up to nutrition. I convinced myself that eating 'healthier" would make me hungry and take some fun out of life. Your attitude has turned that around for me! I am eating better than I have in years and still feeling satisfied and not beating myself up over the odd treat. Also your workouts are so varied and get me focussed on performance not LOOKS! Ugh, finally. You are the GOAT girl ❤️❤️ Hope you & Mario are staying safe and well.
