    1gal of water into ice, 3 hours. 8 lbs per gallon, 5 gallons x 3 hours per gallon == 40lbs ice in 15 hours. Based on those metrics it's going to do fine.

      @@productreviewsbyclarystudi2854 nope this data is still bad because the bin doesn't hold 8lbs, it holds 3lbs. you still have water circulating throughout the reservoir and the rest of the system.

    Just purchased one of these from Costco a few days ago, finally had time to set it up yesterday. My experience was it didn't take 3 hours to fill up with ice - more like an hour-ish? Granted, it didn't fill the ice basket completely, but I'd say more like half the ice basket. So far, pretty happy with it, but also glad I purchased at Costco too, in case I decide to take it back for some reason. Thank you for your review! This is my first time purchasing an ice maker and wasn't aware that the ice melts if sitting in the basket for some time, but the reservoir catches and recycles the water to make ice again. The ice melting alone was like a "Nope, returning it!" for me, but then I came across your review and compared it to reviews for other popular countertop ice makers that I see on TikTok, and now I know this is just how countertop ice makers are made. Glad I didn't throw down the extra $$$ for the other "popular" ice makers! Plus you get a nicer scoop with this model! 😁

    This Frigidaire gallery nuggetice maker is fantastic for the price point. How about $400 cheaper than the GE opal and to me does just as good a job because a friend of mine has the GE opal. Basically just fell into this one and who cares how long it takes you turn it on at night while you sleep and you got a full bed ice in the morning if you don't like the noise turn it off when you're in the kitchen or watching TV and turn it back on when you're gone. Yes it would have been nice if he would have demonstrated the cleaning feature but it is a simple process the great news is if it quit working Costco takes everything back practically

    1) the 44 lb rating is almost certainly under ideal conditions. I.e. probably 70F ambient intake air temp, with lots of airflow around device. if your hot exhaust air is recirculating into the air intake or your room is hotter than 70F like most kitchens are, yes it will make less. 2) 1 gallon @ 8lbs every 3 hours is 44 lbs in 16.5 hours. But this too is also false because the bin doesn't hold a gallon if ice. It holds about 3ish lbs as stated by manufacture. So for your setup, 24 hours / 3 hours X 3lbs is 24lbs a day. This may seem disappointing, but it's still way way faster than an ice maker in a refrigerator and it's chewy. A typical fridge probably only makes 3-5 lbs of ice in 24hrs. You could probably mod this with better cooling fans to increase output or pre-chilling water in the fridge.

      Unfortunately, none of the countertop units have a refrigeration effect to keep the ice cold. It constantly just melts and regenerates. It's the dumbest thing ever. I don't understand why they don't make one with a tiny freezer in it to keep the ice frozen.

    • @jamesbegera9208
      @jamesbegera9208 3 месяца назад +1

      I just got one, depends of where you have it. It only keeps cool based on the ice in the bin. It melts and drains to remake additional ice.

    • @productreviewsbyclarystudi2854

      The machine is automatic. So it stops working when the ice is full. It doesn't keep it cool. So the ice will melt and recycle back into the water reservoir. Once the ice is low it will automatic turn back on and make ice again.

      This gallery ice maker stores ice pretty well and is easy to break apart. I also like nugget ice best. I'd say the gallery ice maker is pretty good, but you have to determine if the sound bothers you enough or not.
