Nothing Phone 2 Long Term Review | Even More Banging In 2024!

- Re-reviewing the Nothing Phone 2 in 2024 after long term use and that Android 14 update, which brings us up to Nothing OS 2.5.5. As well as camera upgrades, the Nothing Phone 2 boasts Glyph updates and improved customisation - plus ChatGPT support. Here's what I think after testing this flashy smartphone for another week.
The camera was always quite dependable for everyday snaps but the 2024 updates have boosted the HDR photo smarts with XDR (as seen in the 2a). The Nothing Phone 2 is also more capable at night, while video stabilisation has improved.
Gaming on Genshin Impact, PubG and other Android titles is a smooth experience, if not quite as fluid as rivals like the OnePlus 12. Battery life seems to get better every time I test the Nothing Phone 2. These days you'll get around 8-9 hours of action from a single charge, although it's not as fast as the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus or Moto Edge 50 Pro for recharging.
As for Nothing OS 2.5.5, that's been improved in many ways. Widgets like Photos and ChatGPT offer a greater selection and the Nothing Phone 2 can be customised to greater depth.
So what do you think after my long term review of the Nothing Phone 2? Let us know below!

Been using the NP2 for about 6 months in India. The best thing about it is that it's very reliable from a connectivity and battery life point of view. And how smooth the UI feels.
I was a bit worried how it will perform in Indian summer (it gets quite hot and humid here), thankfully I didn't see any problems - no bottlenecks, no jitters.
Not a lot of tech reviewers care to revisit a phone and do a long-term review. Much appreciated. Keep them coming 👍
so the phone performs well outside ? i mean im also in the situation of pretty hot outside ( 38 degrees Celcius). i consider about does it heat much ?
@@L-h-83TdIJLno heating issues even in 40 degrees temp
@@L-h-83TdIJL it gets a bit warm if you shoot videos under the sun. But not too much.
@@thejayestjay so i can see that the phone optimize really well. I once use S23+ recently and after update to UI 6.1, it heats and not comfortable to use. Only watch youtube with wifi connection.
Is the camera better than iphone 12????????? Please be honest
Been eyeing this phone for a long time, long term reviews are actually what separate good reviewers, from great teach reviewers as yourself tech spurt. Thanks for this and I hope all is well with you!
Same here, but they say the Phone 3 will come out in summer, so I'll be holding on to my Redmi Note 8 Pro still 😅
@@xDizzyBxman, I have note 8 pro too. Is it really worth waiting for NP3?
@@nemp0 It depends on your situation. Mine still works properly, so I'm not really on a rush to buy a phone right now. I would rather wait a few more months and not have buyer's remorse when the 3 comes out.
@@xDizzyBx battery is getting worse and worse. Additionally, I dropped it few times. Volume control might be an obstacle from time to time as buttons somehow got damaged. For now, works decently but can die anytime 🥲

Hey there! Can you please tell that does it feel too chunky with that 6.7 inch display?
You have NOTHING at all....
@@aliaamir8804 hi! I personally do not mind at all, and it doesn't feel that big in your hand. I do have a bit bigger hands than average, but I can reach all of it if I position my hand in the middle of the phone. the button layout is nice and intuitive, so no struggles with that either. it really depends on what you're used to I guess, before this I came from a Pixel 6, and this one is just a bit bigger, but I like it. the unified bezels and centered hole punch camera just make it look clean, and the screen is amazing in my opinion. don't forget that the back lights up, it's a real party trick and people still ask me "woah, did your phone case just give light?" or "where can I get a case like that?", and then I obviously explain that it's not the case, it's just my phone and that's just fun. in conclusion, I don't at all struggle with the size, and it doesn't feel chunky, it's large yes but it's also slim and holds great in your hand with that pillowed back glass. I paid full price when it dropped, and even now I think it's worth it, but of course if you find a nice deal you should go for that! my opinion? absolutely amazing phone, the only slight downside which I hope they improve on with their next phone is a bit of a better camera. the last update fixed a lot and does make it better, but it could always improve
Don't rub it in😭😭
Good for you7
The camera has gotten significantly better after the latest update. Such a perfect phone now, especially for the lower price!
Ha ricevuto aggiornamento fotocamera?
@@alessandrocarsenzuola5881yes the 2.5.5 update
the zoom is still horrible, but the normal 1x photos are awesome
Portrait edge detection is horrible
All nothing phones have garbage cameras, hope NP3 will be better
As a nothing phone 2 user. I'm glad you did a long term review. Over time the phone has gotten better. Battery life is amazing. Performance is great and I camera is more than enough and has gotten better with time. I can't wait to see what nothing does with the 3
I've heard about a lot of software bugs, are them fixed now ? With Updates.
Yes they have fixed the bugs
Right when I'm planning to buy a new phone, and have been eyeing the Nothing Phone 2, you decide to come out with the long term review, timing couldn't be better!
Wait for nothing phone 3
No I won't, I already got the phone, not waiting for something that doesn't even exist yet.
@@Kuldz Oo! You got it? How do you like it?
@@switzmartin4351 It performs well, UI and the phone's design are smooth and so on. Worth the price in my opinion for sure!
@@Kuldz "that doesn't even exist yet". Donkey, its less than 2 months away from its release. Don't act like its a myth that will never come and is 10 years away
ive been waiting for a video like this since 2 days
What you always do at the top , my number one source of information in the field
Great vid! What icon pack are u using?🙄
Thanks for consistently being a great reviewer, you've massively helped me make decisions on numerous products I've bought. Top review as always. Coincidentally, I got this phone last week and am really enjoying it. I appreciate the little things you do like instead of just saying the IP rating actually helping me understand the real world context of how 'splash resistant' would work. I find most reviewers can just reel off specs without properly delving into the real world application. Cheers for all the vids mate!
Exactly, he puts those specs in real world context😊
Went to nothing phone 2 from a Samsung z fold 3 and I have very little regrets. The buttery smooth stock android is everything I wanted and I still get the geek factor with the glyph lights
Great video🎉
9 months? What a gestation period, blacked out with bodily fluids that was me this past Tuesday, as for last years Christmas thats one I would live to forget. The phone is great, Ivreally love the cheeky lights and I hope that they can add a few more years of support.
Just got my nothing 2 a week ago. It's awesome!
Got this phone a few months back because of your review and let me say, using a OnePlus 12r and nothing 2 side by side, the nothing is way smoother to use despite the 12r having better specs.
12r performance is definitely better in games compared to nothing.
But the LTPO display of nothing helps the phone compete with the battery life of the 12r.
TLDR: if you want raw performance go with the 12r,
If you want a phone that you want to love using daily, go with nothing.
(Also essential notifications on nothing does help more than you think!)
Hi I got the 12r but I think of returning it to get the nothing phone 2 and I can't decide what to do , I only play basic games and take some videos or photos of cars or something like that
@@adi9103 I'd suggest hold on to the 12r for now and wait for nothing 3. It will be better performance and give you the same smooth UI so it would be an actual upgrade.
23athe 12r also has a LTPO display right?
@@thelastdragonbender5824 yep
@@thelastdragonbender5824 nope it does have an option to switch between 60 and 120hz but no LTPO. One of the main reasons why the battery suffers.
It'd be nice if you include a ranking system in every 2 month long review
How you get yours wallpapers animes. They are incredible
Been using this phone since Xmas, absolutely loving it. I mostly use it outside listening to Happy Hardcore as well 😂 showing my age
I've heard about a lot of software bugs, are them fixed now ? With Updates.
We are the children of the night
@@kazerito4598 in short yes. Got a big update about 1 month ago and everything is running smooth. Still the odd wee thing here and there but most of the time it's a solid phone. My partner has the pixel 8 and apart from the pixels camera I would 💯 take this nothing phone over it
It's better to wait now for Nothing Phone 3, apparently the premiere may be before July.
Does the phone still have the news feed spyware? The one u have when you swipe left on home screen
Great work 👏
I might wait for the NP3,should be out this summer
Yeah hopefully July, I'm waiting too! 😊
A question for those who draw - how are the art programs on Nothing Phone 2? Can it support large canvases without slowing down too much?
I am using 8T rn, and it works pretty good, albeit slow at times.
If they took out the ultrawide lens and put in a proper zoom camera for good portraits and photos the cameras would be actually useful
Great phone had it from launch and it doesn't disappoint,
So guys, could you please give me a quick tip? Should I go all in and buy Nothing 2 right now, or to pay more and get a S23+, or wait till september and wait for new nothing 3 or S25?
Can't wait for him to review the Huawei pura 70, just for the pictures it makes me feel like it's worth the struggle without google
The camera on it is pretty insane yeah
Darn fine review. Just wish there was better news from the realme camp.
Pls can you confirm if the ' Microsoft company portal ' works? And work profile can be created? Have thatvworry when trying new brands, when our company 's security policy on configuring work apps are very tight...
Yes we can create work profile & install all authentication apps
Where do you get those Wallpapers from???????????
The cameras are.. okay. I'm not a fan of the post-processing especially when you zoom. They've improved it with software updates and I hope they continue doing this rapidly.
I'm definitely waiting for the NP3, hopefully it's a full flagship this time. Not a midranger. The software is great, but hardware needs to be better.
If hardware got anywhere near OnePlus, it would be perfect
The phone is amazing. The only thing to add would be a telephoto camera
Can't wait for the phone 3
Using mine since launch day 1. Absolutely no regrets!
Is that good?
@@GeorgeeeGXGyea it’s so good the screen is perfect battery is very good I can get 8-12hrs of usage and still have more battery and performance is so good a very fast phone
@@GeorgeeeGXGbut I recommend one plus 12r
I've heard about a lot of software bugs, are them fixed now ? With Updates.
@@kazerito4598 I'm not facing any bugs
Waiting for the 2a to come back in stock. My only complaint is no headphone jack (but I could adapt, especially if their own earbuds are good) and the lights on the back are just white. I'm still thankful for them however I do wish they were RGB. If I could customize the colors to be "x" for "y" app then this phone series would be perfect. I miss the old days of the LED blinking on the top of my phone to let me know I didn't hear something OR that I forgot to take my phone off vibrate etc.
I do have one question about the UI. I love it but I've yet to see any reviewers using it in "dark mode" and I'm curious how it looks/if the home screen icons would be inverted. Could anyone comment?
I really despise this Galaxy a25 I have in my hands. It's fine, but it's defective and I'm done buying unlocked phones from my local Best Buy. They've always been broken in some way, including the OnePlus device I tried from them. My experience at that store is driving my decision to choose a brand that has "nothing" to do with anyone really.
Still with my Nothing Phone(1), great midrange overall.
That's the most "shenanigans" I've ever heard in my life
I've heard about a lot of software bugs, are them fixed now ? With Updates.
There us no software bugs. Everything works perfectly
Got mine yesterday, came from the Sony Xperia 1v and OnePlus 11 after switching from iPhone.
how is the inhand feel and performance of the phone.. i'm planning to buy NP2 soon..
It feels incredible actually just got rid of it and switched to Xiaomi and will potentially be looking to go to try out Nothing Phone 3 or Tesla phone considering a release. Nothing was great though incredibly smooth UI
@@user-bg6qc8tp6o so why did you switch to Xiaomi? Should i buy NP2 or not? I'm confused
@@muhammedihsaan7665 I test phones frequently and switch devices maybe 3-4 times a year . I think it's a great buy personally but personal preference is everything. If you are looking for something innovative and smooth UI . Price is also big as I got it on a great deal.
Thank you for valuable review, currently I'm planning to buy Nothing phone 2 but heard news about Nothing phone 3 announcement in june/july,i expect it will have high specs but confusion about price, will it 2x higher than np 2? (And sorry for my English)

I'm thinking of exchanging my S22+ for this phone. Been hearing on Twitter a lot of Samsung phones getting green lines on the display after updates. So thinking of getting rid of mine before I get any green lines then I won't get anything in exchange value once the display goes.
yeah, it happens a lot on S21 series ( and most in S21Fe ), but S22+ is do the great job, camera better fr. So, can you just wait for the better move ? like Phone (3) coming out in July (rumor).
@@L-h-83TdIJL yea thinking of waiting for nothing phone 3
i mean for the specs, S22+ is fien compare to the phone (2) !!! i can see that Snap 8 + gen 1 on this phone can kicks some latest flagship in 2024 'cause Nothing do optimize it well, but it doesn't help for the fact : it's 2022 chipset. Nothing only support 3 major update for this phone ( expected more cause Samsung, Pixel does that for their newest phones with 7 yrs OS update).
@@L-h-83TdIJL how can we trust updates now days without green lines. I had OnePlus 8T before this I lost thst phone to green line after doing Android 13 update.
@@Johnvalkyre never get that before. i've been use 3 phones upto now. Pixel 3, 5 and Vivo iqoo Neo 5.
