It seems that in the last few years the RAM offered on even mid level phones has shot up. I was used to seeing 4 Gb, then 6 or 8Gb and now it's 12. Is this rally justified? Is it purely game driven?
This phone is what the original 2A should have been while the original 2A should not have existed. Plus the price is still on the higher side and if the camera was bang on then it would still have been a great value until then there are other very solid choices than this.

well said mate! the 2a wow....stutter city lag lag lag judders throughout the UI how nothing is going to win rounds with software like this!!! I don't expect it to be like my s24+ but christ it's worse than touch wizz of Samsung old... If this doesn't settle down then its worse than the pixel 6 pro I used (the worse phone ever...) lag lag judders stutters shocking !! the UI is tripe. Typing is buggy as hell trying to type in empty space locked up curser fail scrolling down page utter dreadful to use. Extremely over hyped it runs like there is no cache files choppy choppy choppy it runs like a windows PC with the graphics drivers missing.... And as for the finger print reader OMG dirt detected error on a brand new screen.... not recognised error I have yet to get it to work correctly the times it's caused apps to force me to enter my pin because it fails to recognise my finger print. well done for increasing my chances of getting locked out of my applications thanks for nothing!! (pun intended) It's less reliable than the front facing cameras on face unlock on sub £300 mobiles !!!! I have never had issues like this with any finger readers this phone is diabolical. The camera well its really is as bad as people say....the video has so many artifects its unusable. Every time I try to reset the camera app google wants my location??? not only this but it's suppose to be bloat free it's injected with almost all of Googles bloat google meet, you tube music, google TV etc....and these cannot be uninstalled christ most if these can be uninstalled on Samsung devices that people slate for being loaded with adverts.... Sorry but this is poor beyond belief 🥴 if you want to experience modern touch wizz buy this!! if in a week or so after buying it and it settles down I will retract what I say but for now I stand by my comment the 2a UI is utter garbage no bloat.....seriously?? its full of googles apps without choice to uninstall !! my Nokia from 2005 ran better than this plastic fantastic toy. I was shocked after buying the 2a I thought I may have a dodgy unit but after factory reset its still garbage camera ,finger scanner it never works its dreadful the battery is trash 2 day battery life that's a laugh it was on 17% after a full day my s24+ was always around 39% and it was charged only to 80% when I left home!!!!!! "shocking nothing" simple as. the only good thing is the fitted screen protector!

I have owned devices since 1998 so I've seen them all so I do know quite a bit 😉.... The one plus is smoother not a single stutter and the finger print scanner has worked perfectly out of the box ... and it's better than the 2a again another fact...that was shocking...and wasnt a one off...... At the moment I find honor devices good value I also like the oppo find x 5 pro... I just gave my s24+ to my daughter. But the Nord 4 was £429 I won't buy the 2a plus so I cannot comment but I have always bought flagships mostly some mid range handsets I can use some I think meh...back to my flags but I have had this one plus for about 2 week and I haven't had any issues that have annoyed me to return it !!!

You said overall soothness and multitasking on the phone is good. Can you tell how much of a difference it is, compared to Nothing 2? Use case: Social media apps, Maps, etc. Not gaming.

Almost any phone is better than a Samdung. I just wish they would have the same commitment to software Samdung does. Kind of crazy that the brand with the most offensive, bloated, jittery, piece of shit software skin is the one getting the most, and quickest software updates.
The audacity nothing has to say the 2a flexes better than the 865 is a blatant lie. I'm glad that I sold the piece of crap device, there is no shutter lag but the post processing EVERY single time you take a picture is absolutely infuriating even in the best lighting condition. I still have my OnePlus 8t and it absolutely shitts on the 2a slow slow post processing. Don't buy a 2a if it can't process a photo right away but claims and flexes it's CPU is better than a 865 , which is a damn lie.
If they don't bring top tier upgrades in hardware and software in phone 3 . They'll never capture legit usa market. They're focusing on Indian market because people need cheaper phone there.
I've got the normal 2a and works wonderfully with aethersx2. Even some switch games can be emulated but no more than 45fps with dips down to 30fps without disturbing gameplan. Overall works pretty good. The 2a plus is only a 3% increase so it should be similar.
Overpriced overhyped trash it takes over 7 sec to open the camera app and it laggs this phone processor is slow to processes a photo dont get fooled by the hype its expensive trash with nothings os skin over android😮

It’s not a noticeable difference side by side. But that’s always been the case with Nothing OS 2.5. Software and hardware works really well together.
This will be a great buy if they updated the processor to snapdragon 8sgen3

I got 2a plus in 2a price .
Does it process the photos shorter on this phone, cause cameras are good but it took about 3s to process a photo which is a let down for me.
Haven't seen any issues with photo processing. But that could also be due to the fact they're still using Google Photos and not their own gallery app.

no, processor is a mid-tier at best. Need a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to really play PS2 games smoothly.
