i know these arguements are years old but i will never understand the metal fan "elitists".i love slipknot,A7X,etc..and i love satyricon, obituary, etc.dont see why some metal fans have to put down others because they have different tastes..just seems odd to waste so much time bitching about bands you dont like
The only reason is because it wasn't made in their time, honestly, when the Metal God Lemmy says Slipknot is a metal band, and everyone else, it's fucking METAL
Its called the small dick phenomenon. Basically, all the elitists have microscopic dicks and so need to insult and put down everyone else to feel better.
And this is the song that at least one Slipknot fan site states "Apparently, Shawn doesn't want the song to spread. So if you have a copy, kindly keep it to yourself or stream it..." LoL, and now it's all over yt, not to mention, saying "stream it" is really dumb, since you can easily record anything playing from computer speakers with the program Audacity.
Once I get my band together the first cover we are going to do is this. We're going to have this intro, and then it is going to kick into before I forget. It's going to be (sic).
this was my favorite song made by Slipknot. I loved the time with Anders/Andrew, cuz he's not a sell-out like Corey made Slipknot (I don't blame Corey at all, Slipknot and Roadrunner Records looked after a singer like him). Carve is briliant - much better than Before I Forget. More rough, more tasty and real metal.
Crowz was not an actual demo, it was just demo songs that they sent to Roadrunner, it was fan made into Crowz, Anders said himself that is what Crowz is.
I think this is better than Before I Forget, to be honest. This song has a creepy and slow build up, then has a kick ass riff and a heavy, rappy song to accompany it - whereas Before I Forget is part of Slipknot's "new music"... happy, mainstream, nothing like their old stuff... I think MFKR, Crowz, Slipknot and Iowa are AMAZING albums, and Slipknot should return to their roots! \m/
I don't get why people are always fighting about Anders and Corey, to be honest, without both of them, we would not have Slipknot today, and we think we should be thankful, I like both of them, because it's still Slipknot.
I saw footage of the band from the first year of touring where Chris is playing the part at 1:20. They don't actually play this song though, he just added it to the intro of Scissors.
Don't people say that Slipknot are Nu-Metal? This is so much cooler I love it it's like it's own genre I've never heard anything like this before... Much better than the Slipknot of today although they are still pretty cool. What could you call this? Doom/Death? I dunno! It's awsome!
I am fortunate enough now that I have the songs on the album my friend had it he let me borrow it and carve is on it so is diluted only one and others.
True statement, but to really embrace what slipknot became, you have to appreciate their origin from where they came from. Before 1998 that is. I'm not one to brag, or label shit, but before i discovered Slipknot, i didn't know shit about metal the way i found it with Slipknot. You wanna talk about bands like Black Sabbath, judas priest, motorhead, and AC/DC that formed the bonds of Heavy Metal/Hard rock in the 70's and early 80's, slipknot is all of that combined for the late 90's and 2000's. One of the best top bands to come about for the early 21st Century in Metal music.
Hey you from iowa uploader? This shits rare an hard to find , I got a copy jus cuz I met jordie an mick in council bluffs at there house my sister was hookin up with some shit , I heard the drums in the basement jus fuckin ungodly battle drums awesome shit
@SinisterGrapefruit i think the 2:30 part might be similar to the part in I am Hated, where he screams "(we are) the anti-cancer!" I think it might be that verse.
yes I love his death growls, but Corey is good too. Corey has a more radio-friendly voice, whereas Anders has that power behind it like in this song. I'd still prefer Corey because he can hit the high notes and still do a damn good death growl.
Ever since All Hope is Gone, Slipknot has just become a faster and slightly heavier Stone Sour. Corey’s voice has been blown out. It’s just the same riffs followed with some DJ scratching and a radio friendly chorus, with the occasional “experimental” song sprinkled around the album. Iowa was the last Slipknot album that sounded like Slipknot. I fucking miss those days. Volume 3 was great too, but to me it marked the downward spiral into rehashing the poppier moments of that album over and over again. This band went totally the wrong way.
@Ignan_42069 as if the people reusing them, Paul and Joey, weren't the main songwriters. Why would they take riffs they didn't write? If they reused them now, it'd be something to complain about, but in typical Slipknot fan fashion, you complain about nothing.
@Fgs1969 That is disappointing to see someone say lol, Quan was the first guitarist for a very short amount of time, the metal that the band was going into wasn't his style and he left very early.
kerrang plays them all the time. loads of music tv channels. i'm not talking about the MTV just music channels. and the fact that they were on the MTV makes me laugh harder because i didn't even know that.
they didn't sell out...and mtv doesn't even play music anymore as sad as that may be...but who cares they made some videos and had a couple songs hit the radio "OMG LETS WRITE THEM OFF BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING SUCCESSFULL IN THEIR CAREER" this is just their dream come true doing music for a living
In fact the guy who I met Corey through said that they ran broke in the middle of their tour with Shadows Fall and Slayer. Corey isn't even rich enough to buy his mother and sister their own house, THIS I know for a fact. My point is, just because somebody gets radio play and has tons of fans doesn't mean their sell out bitches, it just means that their music is THAT good. And again, I know tons of people right here in IOWA, slipknots own home town who has no clue who they are.
only one is in MFKR, isn't?... i know that post MFKR they record a demo with Wait and Bleed, Diluted, Interloper, Spit it Out and Snap... they would do a album (suppossed crownz) but Roadrunner accept the self tittled so it isn't recorded... Carve is maybe a pre Roadrunner demo song... probably, a unrealeased of MFKR... but i'm shure that Only One is in MFKR...
Yeah, I'm sure when Shawn, coming from such a lame state as Iowa such as myself threw on that mask he bought from the local dollar store when they first started and his immediate thought was "This is going to make me a shit ton of money!" Slipknot didn't make it because of their masks, they made it because they used unique sounds and their was no other band like them at the time. In fact, I didn't even know what slipknot looked like when they first started.
wouldnt it be awesome if slipknot re-recorder all this awesome old stuff? like some of crowz old stuff and some of the mfkr stuff that they didnt already do...
@RU52Y None of the above, I'd probably say Alternative Metal / Funk Metal. It is definitely not Experimental Metal (more commonly known as Avant-Garde Metal)... :)
Seriously, how many mainstream listeners do you know actually listen to slipknot? They know who bands like hinder, evanescence, and all that are, if Slipknot were sell outs then why arent they thrown in with those bands? Why do mainstream listeners still dislike slipknot? They have some catchy songs, so what!? I'm trying to give you guys a link to an interview with Corey in regard to this subject but for some reason it's not letting me post it.
1, they are a nine peice band from Iowa and beleive it or not but MTV is NOT everywhere. Their are tons of bands around here that I know for a FACT would take up on something if MTV offered it to them. Two, I know Corey, Jim, and Corey's sister personally. The band STILL lives in Iowa because they cannot afford to live comfortably anywhere else, why? (cont.)
3:09 Sounds like the chorus of "I am Hated" (From Iowa)
I think this is overshadowed by the "Before I Forget" riff, but I believe you're absolutely right.
I hear before i forget (1:38), i am hated (3:09), psichosocial (3:38) and spit it out (2:43). Thanks me later.
*Psychosocial
4 albums into a song😂
2:49 also do nothing/bitchslap
A rerecording of their MFKR and Crowz stuff would be insane!!!! That would kick so much ass!!
There is it's called the Gold Disc
I wish Slipknot would make a ''remake'' of Crowz....I love this CD soooooo much^^
i know these arguements are years old but i will never understand the metal fan "elitists".i love slipknot,A7X,etc..and i love satyricon, obituary, etc.dont see why some metal fans have to put down others because they have different tastes..just seems odd to waste so much time bitching about bands you dont like
Basically because putting down someone is fun, specially on the internet.
Ikr
The only reason is because it wasn't made in their time, honestly, when the Metal God Lemmy says Slipknot is a metal band, and everyone else, it's fucking METAL
Its called the small dick phenomenon.
Basically, all the elitists have microscopic dicks and so need to insult and put down everyone else to feel better.
1:38 Before i forget somewhere?
Holy shit
742617000027 J yep! they used the same riff from this song to later formulate the song Before I Forget
that's what I thought!
that's what I thought!
that's what I thought!

11 people dont fully understand...
They’re doing something rather curious with the parts of the body…
this was my favorite song made by Slipknot.
This song was recorded in 1997, it is really cool to think songs such as Before I Forget were in their infancy back in the Anders days...
The Best Slipknot Song I'm ever heard!
You are correct about crowz not being an album. Carve was done for the M.F.K.R demo but soon was redone for Before I Forget.
They are doing something rather curious with the parts of the body in a way that we dont fully understand
-The song intro
the riff here is WAY better than Before i forget...it sounds alot heavyer
This is so banger and brutal this song! Slipknot is the most older is like Korn! Very Banger And So Brutal!
old before i forget
This is amazing!!
right when the guitar starts in the beggining intro is fuckin sick.......... very VERY tight song. GO Anders!!!!
its awsome, this would be a pure signiture song of early slipkonot, real good stuff!!!
Crowz was not an actual demo, it was just demo songs that they sent to Roadrunner, it was fan made into Crowz, Anders said himself that is what Crowz is.
I think this is better than Before I Forget, to be honest. This song has a creepy and slow build up, then has a kick ass riff and a heavy, rappy song to accompany it - whereas Before I Forget is part of Slipknot's "new music"... happy, mainstream, nothing like their old stuff... amazing
Anders Colesfni isnt the orginial vocalist. There was a singer before him..You can read about him on slipknot-metal
anders and corey are both great vocalists
But Anders is a real genuine dude while Corey is lost in his massive ego
They're doing something rather curious with the body, in a way we don't fully understand.
@ThePuppetSaw In Vice Grip Throttle... His other band is "Painface" though, he joined it after he left Slipknot.
I've never heard of Crowz till now... This shit rocks hard!!!
Don't people say that Slipknot are Nu-Metal?
This is so much cooler I love it it's like it's own genre I've never heard anything like this before... Much better than the Slipknot of today although they are still pretty cool. What could you call this? Doom/Death? I dunno! It's awsome!
This is nu metal at its best
everything i thought i new about slipknot was thrown away when i heard this song. lol
this is awsome i just need to no were i can find teh crowz album to complet my collection of cds
At the begining the guy say: "They doing something" Really sounds like Dr.Kleiner from Half-Life 2 !!!!
heavy as fuck
@TheNeoton the riff is in before i forget thats where that song came from
@AnxietyPro i really liked gently and slipknot and this song along with confessions sung by him
Parts of this reminds me of before i forget lol
that's because part of the riff before the vocals kick in is the opening riff from before I forget
I am fortunate enough now that I have the songs on the album my friend had it he let me borrow it and carve is on it so is diluted only one and others.
1:39 Before I Forget?
I like both Slipknot, the first edition and the edition today. :D
old slipknot is very good but, self titled crushes the slipknot prototype
+MaskedGametime (XRebelDestroyer) i like how you put that.
+Drop Therapy :P

nope
Except only one
@Nosirrah002 Its Riff, and yes it is, they made Before I Forget from this....
I agree, and I'm not the kind of person to bash on someone for expressign their beliefs, I just hate when people try to ram it down your throat.
Hey you from iowa uploader? This shits rare an hard to find , I got a copy jus cuz I met jordie an mick in council bluffs at there house my sister was hookin up with some shit , I heard the drums in the basement jus fuckin ungodly battle drums awesome shit
Once uploaded on the internet, you can't call it rare. And we don't care for the whole story.
Mr Vladalv dude. Jus enjoy the track. Its nice to share experiences with music especially when it's not ruined by people like you.
@SinisterGrapefruit i think the 2:30 part might be similar to the part in I am Hated, where he screams "(we are) the anti-cancer!" I think it might be that verse.
I wish I had this album~~
my god did you listen ? sounds like before i forget !

They used to be
@hugeSLIPKNOTfan1
no that was a member named cuddles, he was replaced by chris.
anders left cause he wasn't cool with doing backup vox
@TheNeoton also 2:42 sounds like Spit it out (before and after he says JUMPDAFUCKUP)
i have this album and i was listening to this and at 1:38 is the riff from before i forget
1:40 - 1:55 is the same guitar begininng as slipknots more recent song "Before I Forget"
Ever since All Hope is Gone, Slipknot has just become a faster and slightly heavier Stone Sour. Corey’s voice has been blown out. They ran out of MKFR and demo riffs to copy from 😘
@Ignan_42069 as if the people reusing them, Paul and Joey, weren't the main songwriters. Why would they take riffs they didn't write? If they reused them now, it'd be something to complain about, but in typical Slipknot fan fashion, you complain about nothing.
@@Ignan_42069 Like have you ever even been in a band before? They reuse riffs from demos, sweetheart. Get a clue. Literally every band does.
yes the riffs are the same they later rereleased on vol 3 with some other riffs and a chorus ;)
Glory Anders!
in these demos I can really hear their influence from korn.
This broken soul 👍🏽
And blind
Mr.Bungle and Acid bath
@@franksviewi was thinking more this broken soul and Ball tongue
Damn, this is fucking sick!
i was talking about MFKR i know there isn't an album called crowz
guitar at start sounds fuckin sick!!! It's EPIC!
@TheNeoton does sound like the same bass for before i forget with slight changes
ohh right o is it at all possabel to download it or not
i agree i want to cover this kick ass song but my band needs
youre the man
@Fgs1969 That is disappointing to see someone say lol, Quan was the first guitarist for a very short amount of time, the metal that the band was going into wasn't his style and he left very early.

hopefully the next one will be good.

in my opignon this song at before i forget
Slipknot said that Before I Forget is the re-work of carve
thanx for restating what i said weeks before you
this "version" of before I forget is WAY MUCH better!!
This shit is so raw!!!
Defiantly the before i forget rift !
god i wish i had this cd... and MKFR..
it says so in the description if u bother to read it (Y)
@SuperBang69 from what i recall first shawn then joey
In fact the guy who I met Corey through said that they ran broke in the middle of their tour with Shadows Fall and Slayer. Totally see Before I Forget in this song. Like the beginning after the scientist guy
2021 anyone?
Before I forget and spit it out mashup

who wulda thought back in the day that this song would be reworked into a grammy winning song
that fucking rocks
thats before i forget
@n00bzorman Well since Paul died yesterday it's only Joey and Shawn :'(
Yeah, I'm sure when Shawn, coming from such a lame state as Iowa such as myself threw on that mask he bought from the local dollar store when they first started and his immediate thought was "This is going to make me a shit ton of money!"

@NightClash909 Thanks, i thinlk thats it yea :3
Fucking awesome.

omg parts of this song sound so similar to other songs!
Old or New still kicks a mean ass !
They're doing something rather curious with the parts of the body in a way we dont fully understand.
i really would like to see anders back in slipknot as a back up singer, that would be interesting
I think they’re doing some rather curious with the parts with the body, in a way they don’t fully understand...but I’m not certain

What is the sound bite at the beginning from?
It sounds really familiar.
hmm I'm rather confused by your comment here.. almost makes me hungry, i could definitely go for a sound bite right now
