My ranking always seems to change, but here's mine:
6. Gray Chapter: Pretty much the same points that was brought up in the video. Not bad, just not really interesting to me as the other albums.
5. AHIG: I'm one of those few who REALLY enjoy the album, sure it does look and sound kind of generic and flat, but I still enjoy it regardless.
4. Iowa: Yeah, I know, "Why is it so low??". Don't get me wrong, I will full-on acknowledge the album is the band at its arguable best, I love the album to bits as well, but all other options above just appeal to me even more.
3. S/T: Same exact thing applies here, first album I ever discovered and listened to. Still holds up as a masterpiece too.
2. WAYNK: Oh buddy this album is special, the direction they took just falls right into my musical taste exactly. Love every second of it.
1. Vol.3: This album is such a experimental masterpiece. Everything about it from the masks, sound, lyrics, everything. Can listen to it any day and enjoy it.
Vol 3 solos
Awesome video, fun chat. My rank is definitely self titled first, Iowa #2, Vol. 3 #3. The rest I haven't given a good listen to in a minute to rank properly. Nothing does it for me like the first 3 albums and I'm okay with that lol those where the eras when I was most invested in learning everything I could about them. I was obsessed.

Self Titled has got to be one of my favourite albums of all time, along with Ride The Lightning. I believe both of these had some sort of unrefined element to them - Self Titled has that raw, basement sound and RTL had a supposedly rushed production. Coincidentally, both those albums feature guitars that are slightly out of tune from Standard E and Drop B for whatever reason, and it's just another one of those things that I love about the sound on those albums.

Vol 3 is my favorite.
The rhythm section with the guitars, drums and bass has never been better on a Slipknot album. They are completely locked in with each other all time in a sense I don't feel has come after or was before that. The creativity was just there. But on the flipside, Coreys vocals were terrible, the guitar soloes, the poppy singles and what not. I love the ballads though. Aesthetically it was the start of Slipknot not looking dangerous anymore. They look like they were on their way to a Halloween party with their crisp black suits and professionally made mask. Every group photo just has Clowns mask suck all the intimidation out of it.
DAMN....OUCH! AHIG is my favorite album (with Iowa damn near tied with it).
Still, VERY cool you guys bumped into each other.
I KNEW AJ was going to say Iowa at #2, because I know how much he loves Self Titled.
I always talk about what a damn good man AJ is. Ray seems like he is just as beautiful of a human being, as well. No wonder you two guys get along so well. I am so glad I will be able to meet him, as well. Hopefully he has some band merch available.
Iowa's my favorite because it was my first slipknot album I ever got. Plus losing my mom in December 2000 the album encapsulated how i was feeling as a child that year

Awesome video! Im totally in the minority that Vol.3 is my all time favorite record and era. I know why its not people favorite and I totally get that. I love the experimentation, aesthetic, videos and just the all around mythos and atmosphere in that time.
If im being purely objective tho self titled is easily no 1 for sure.
Dam now I am sitting here trying to breakdown my slipknot worst to best. You guys both touched on a lot of the stuff I’ve been saying to my friends. Great video as always.

I recently relistened to We Are Not Your Kind and I can say that jumped from 4 to 3 in my favorite albums with Iowa topping that list

Nailed it. But to me #1, 2 and 3 are all so close. Each album has its own mystique and experimentation behind it that made it what it is. Iowa, incredible album. But they aren’t those young, angry kids anymore. WANYK to me is Iowa after growth and life experiences. It’s hard for me to definitively say Iowa is better than ST or ST is better than WANYK. As a fan I’m just happy they are still here and still trying
@@McClain_Train same. I honestly had to go back and listen to them. I knew what the top three were but I had to decide what order. They are one of the hardest bands to rank.

Self titled is definitely number one for me, followed be Iowa, although it's pretty damn close. I'd say my list lines up with Aj's, for much of the same reasons. I saw Slipknot play in 2001, just before they released Iowa, and that's really the time period I love the most!
self titled will be the best album ever for me cuz it got me into metal and i was listening to rap all the time back then and when i first listened to that album also hearing those hip hop elements was like the perfect transition to be a metalhead

I personally agree. It’s VERY close between Iowa and Dirt by Alice In Chains as my favorite album of all time. AIC is my favorite band, then Slipknot and Iron Maiden

I totally agree with Ray, making a decision between self-titled and Iowa is almost an impossible choice. I flip flop the answer as well. But I also agree with you AJ about self-titled. That's when I discovered them, and the memory of being SOOO blown away by a band, and so obsessed with everything about them... Ahhh... The good ol days. 🤘🤘🤘

I first got into slipknot AT all hope is gone. I loved it, grew up with it and it only got better from there. Discovered the old albums which all slapped. It was great.
7. Gray Chapter nothing really speaks to me like on the other albums, really good though, fav tracks are skeptic and Custer
6. TESF again really good, a little too experimental though, fav tracks are Hive Mind and The Dying Song
5. AHIG I really love ahig, it’s grown on me a ton, I think his scream on ahig works in certain places and doesn’t in other though, fav tracks are Sulfur and All Hope Is Gone
4. WANYK I really love WANYK it’s like everything that’s good about TESF mixed with Iowa level heaviness, fav tracks are Solway Firth and Not Long For This World
3. Iowa I think the biggest issue with Iowa is that it is in my opinion just self titled but of lesser significance. It’s definitely the double down album and I love it for that. Fav tracks are Iowa and The Heretic Anthem
2. Self Titled I really love this album it feels the most raw out of all their works and it was just so ahead of its time the only issue is how dated it is. It’s old and it shows. Fav tracks are (sic) and Eyeless
1. Vol. 3 so fucking good. Joey is amazing on this album more so than any other I think. Guitar sound is also flawlessly good and I personally love Corey’s shriek. It might be just because I figured out how to do it like him though. Fav tracks are The Blister Exists and Vermillion and I have to include a 3rd so I’ll go Opium of the people.

Watch the hate on this. WANYK is my #1. Why? A lot of reasons. Obviously ST is what got me into Slipknot. I bought it when it came out in ‘99 and was obsessed with all of it. But like the members, I have also grown and changed through the years and my experiences. I personally feel like WANYK is their best venture into new territory while still maintaining what makes Slipknot Slipknot. Solway Firth for example, just an incredible piece of art.
maybe you too should do a music project of some sort you both play instruments, that would be cool.

From me it’s AHiG, vol 3, .5, WANYK, ST, Iowa. AHiG to radio friendly but could be worse, vol 3 same issue (pulse of the maggots is my favorite from that album) .5 is good but not great, negative one and killpop are bangers but to many solos that sound similar, WANYK less solos and more from Sid and Craig, ST angry only gripe is that it is hard to understand sometimes, Iowa perfect blend of angry with heaviness and atmosphere (silver Iowa jester the GOAT)
Awesome video. It's cool you got to finally meet Ray. here are my ranks from best to worst. 1st i wanna say that I love an absolute ton of their masks. every album have amazing ones.
1. .5 (All around perfect imo)
2. WANYK (Got to see it come to life and soon to end and the music is awesome)
3. Iowa (Amazing. Love the pure heaviness and aggressiveness)
4. Selftitled (Also amazing, basically tied with Iowa. A lot of cool stuff on the album)
5. Vol3 ( I really enjoy the music but enjoy previous alum more)
6. AHIG (50 - 50 for me. some songs are good, others are eh or very eh)
