this is a demo that the band recorded after winning the battle of the bands, everything that exists recorded after 1996 (MFKR) until 1999 (ST) are demos that the band did to adjust and remake the songs, all this was sent to the record companies, just they and people close and internal to the band had access, after that a few fans somehow managed to get these materials and someone in 2019 after years decided to throw everything on the internet, this phase is dubbed by fans as Crowz.
My information is from the following: "Slipknot: Inside The Sickness, Behind The Masks" and "Slipknot: Unmasked (Again)" Anders was their first vocalis from 95 to 97. Corey Taylor was hired because he could produce more melodic singing. Anders was moved to backing vocals and percussion. He played this for a few months, after realizing he was unhappy with his job, he quit. There's your story.

Y'know as a nigh-rabid Korn fan I was about to dispute that this sounded like Korn. But listening to it, those softer vocals largely overlaid by the music sounds remarkably like JD and I can pick his voice out of anything. The snarling/screaming is way off, but the talking bits and particularly the singing bits are unsettlingly familiar. Of course the actual music itself is definitely not Korn. It's not got their tuning. But when it's muffling Anders' vocals a good bit I can definitely see the comparison.
