I may have a "problem". I spend a couple hours pruning outside and then I watch 30 minutes of you pruning when I get back in the house. Truly meditative. Your tips resonate with me and confirm my experience. Longer format is my preference btw. Ty.
Yes. Much more detail when given time to flow. I enjoyed this as I have the same idea in my mind while pruning. I'd actually be willing to watch another 10-20 min while winding down but your content is wholesome. Keep up the good work.
This is my first time liking a tree-related video. I really appreciate that Matt is sharing his knowledge and experience while being very respectful and open to learning and improving. I grew up in Vietnam then lived in Indiana for over 30 years. I'm now retired and living in Southern California and have recently learned that I may be able to grow a few varieties of tropical fruit trees - longan, mangoes, sugar apple along with more commin trees, like apple, orange, persimmon... I'm so excited that I'm gonna have my swimming pool demolished to make room for fruit trees!
Good info on a different perspective regarding trimming for size maintenance. I totally agree with you about the low hanging branches especially when holding fruit..
Can't remember when was the last time I watched a 15+ min RUclips video at 1x speed. This was as close as it can get to being in the farm learning from your experience. We have a little backyard system we're creating using syntropic & permaculture techniques. I enjoy your videos because I can see a lot of the theory I have been learning, being applied and producing results. You have helped me rethink a few strategies, like thinning and using an existing older tree as a support for a passionfruit vine, instead of thinking of replacing it for a productive tree amongst other tips :) Thank you for the time you take making these videos Matt. Loving all the content you upload.
Yeah mate, good video. I’m enjoying the new pov action. Short or long, it’s nice to see how other people are doing things and learn little differences in approaches!! Cheers 🍻🤠✌️
Love the longer video, love the content. I don't have any mango trees (because my zone is not mango friendly) but I do have lots of stone and pome fruit trees. I have the same mindset when comes to the pruning. Any branch that goes downward or inwards, needs to be removed. Also any branch that is underneath another branch, will not get much sunlight and will not contribute towards the tree growth. That branch is taking more from the tree than giving back. All of my trees grows outwards and side ways, not much in the middle of the tree. All branches gets maximum sunlight. I am learning a lot from your videos about the tropical fruit trees. Nothing is better than learning from the best.
Hey, love the video. We all need reminders to really hack these guys back. I have a Valencia Pride that has been in the ground for 4 years and I have been able to keep it totally under control, for now. So far I have also been able to keep lemon zest, sweet tart and fruit punch under control. Fruit punch is one that you really have to keep an eye on because, like Valencia Pride it has really long growth flushes. Thank you, as always, for all of the info and time.
At around 12:30 you cut the top off. Is that going to stunt lateral growth? My first mango tree is about this size and im getting ready to prune it. It’s her first time so it’s been growing kind of funky.
I'm not sure I understand the question, you mean preference? It really depends but I usually cut near the 2nd growth flush, sometimes the first if it's a leggy variety.
great and informative vids. when is the latest i can prune my trees live in area that has no winter, summer daytime temps 40-48c night time temps 27-35c. winter daytime temps 26-30c night time temps 17-22c no worry from freezing as it has never been below 17c youngest trees are a 2 years old ,oldest trees are 5 years old.... many thx
Yeah keep em coming matt! We love what you do!
Yeah. I want to see long video format too.

Longer videos and awesome hats are a perfect combo :)
Great video bro 👏
I learn a lot from your videos!
Loved this! Thank you!
Yep..we have a tour with you on the 6th! We're sooo excited!
Great video! Thank you. I noticed you’re cutting behind the terminals… why is that?

Always watch your videos thank you for making them! What plant are you using for a boarder where your mulch line meets the grass?
It's red napier grass, you could also use lemongrass or other clumping grass
It’s a more natural flow with longer videos. Enjoyed. What is your presence on location to make a cut?
I'm not sure I understand the question, you mean preference? It really depends but I usually cut near the 2nd growth flush, sometimes the first if it's a leggy variety.
What's Ripening? Above the growth ring or below. I’m in 9A so height control and bushy trees are my goal.
@@audreyasbey3745 I prefer inside the growth ring (closer to the trunk)
Long videos of you sharing sounds good to me too
Good job

How tall is your Mango tree when you make your first cut?
Between knee and waist high
It's good mango pruning
How old is this tree?

How did you record hands free?
The GoPro clips to my hat 😀
Lmao the hat

Lol, I made it!!
@@WhatsRipening I love it. Like you sewed it or used a site? The stitching looks good, I think I need one

Correction, cutting behind the flush.
Long video = 😃
Longer the video, the more info you can share. Thank you.
