  • In this video I'm back on my own place working on the dormer. I fit the lead flashings up the sides. Stainless steel fly/insect mesh. And do all the timberwork to the dormer. Making sure there is adequate ventilation ready for the lead to be installed.
    I hope you enjoy.

    Great vids! I'm not in the biz, but I understand you're supposed to use construction paper behind lead , but you didn't use it on the cheeks? Why is that? Also vapour barrier on top of breather membrane? I didn't know that was a thing?
    Thanks
    Mark

      Hi Mark. Yes you need to use grade A building paper. I will do before I put the lead on. I’ve Just covered the dormer with the felt breather membrane to protect the ply untill I can lead it.
      And I called it a vapour barrier. But it’s just another breather membrane as there was so many holes in the first layer.

    Does it ventilate into the soffit? Or is it just the slither at the top

    • @slbleadworks
      @slbleadworks  2 месяца назад

      It has an airflow from underneath and I did design it to vent out the slither out of the top too. But I might be changing that.

    Hi, thanks for your videos. Do we need lead flashing on top of soakers? What is the size of flashing please?

    • @slbleadworks
      @slbleadworks  16 дней назад +1

      I did for this detail.
      The sections were cut into 1.2m using 150mm code 4.

      @@slbleadworksThank you for your answer. Do you have any video on lead flashing above soakers please? I want to know if the lead flashing above soakers is tucked behind the tiles or does it cover the tiles slightly? I was trying to check this on your video but couldn't be sure. Thanks

    Hi Stuart, why do you use a breather membrane and a vapour barrier over the top?

    • @slbleadworks

      Hi.
      It was a bad choice of words. It’s just a breather membrane.
