Bridget's been a gender-nonconforming boy for _over two decades_ and they're trying to walk that back with barely a paragraph of character development and a three year time gap. That's gonna be a no from me dog. Not only does making him trans run diametrically counter to his entire backstory, but it essentially makes him an _actual_ grooming victim. Good job, Daisuke.
Just so you're aware, it isn't even a 3 year time gap, it's 5 MONTHS. The last game Bridget was in to my knowledge, was a pachinko game called Guilty Gear:Vastedge, which takes place ~5 months before Strive. This game is canon. It was never officially translated to English, and only existed on Western app stores for a few weeks iirc. Guess how Bridget acted in that game? Same as every previous appearence. Calm, confident, and very sure of himself.
@@auggie9912 yikes, that makes it even worse. Even if I wholly disagree with the new direction they're taking with Bridget, a 3 year gap could I _guess_ be _hypothetically_ be enough time for him to make a complete 180 on his personality and motivation, I'd just take extreme issue with it taking place entirely offscreen. If it's only been 5 months, that's not even remotely enough offscreen time to justify this kind of flip, yeesh.
If its the original creator saying it then, sorry. If its NOT the original creator then feel free to ignore it. But again, if it's the original creator then its canon. Feel free to complain about the writing though.
Somebody should tell that to the schizos trying to claim Yamato and Astolfo in pure opposition to stated canon then. If they're gonna use headcanon and death of the author to try to "claim" characters, I see no reason not to do the same to deny them. It's not the principled argument, which is why I dont actually believe that, but it sure is fun to use the same rhetoric the other side of the argument uses to justify my outlook and watch them twist themselves into knots screaming about bigotry.
@@Skyte100 Daisuke isn't the only person who was involved in Bridget's creation. Mori and Emiko designed and wrote the character, Daisuke just had the initial idea of "Hey, let's have what looks like a cute girl and have it turn out to be a boy, that'd be funny!"
There's literally TWO TRANS CHARACTERS in the EXACT SAME ARC as Yamato, and Eiichiro Oda treats them with so much respect that he even made an entire bath scene in which both of them are invited into the female baths by Nami, Robin and the rest of the women. Meanwhile, Yamato going into the male baths is treated like a joke by the scene with. Yamato herself literally said "Oden was a man so I am too. Because I am Oden." This doesn't mean that she identifies as a man. Yamato is essentially Larping as Oden. Had Oden been a woman, she wouldn't claim to be a man because she wants to be Oden not a man. It really isn't that hard to understand.
Yamato identifies as ODEN. Not simply 'male'. She's essentially roleplaying with extreme enthusiasm. Yamato seems like such a good character, so it’s such a shame that people get so hung up on the smallest of shit nowadays. Oda shouldn’t be blamed at all considering it’s not a problem around the world, just the U.S.
@jzpowell2108 it is the US at this point, why do you think some people call us the united States of GAE, we just seem to be the ground zero for stupid shit at this point
Funny thing about the Yamato thing is she's essentially a common character archetype; Character who respects someone so much they want to become that person and that characters arc usually ends up with becoming their own person because making your entire personality another person is not healthly. and on the topic of Bridget, I saw a comment on a video a while back that summed up the bridget situation pretty well, I'm paraphrasing but it went like this; They essentially took all of Bridget's uniqueness away from him, instead of being a boy fighting against stereotypes and superstition, his personality is essentially now just "Cute Girl."
fr, they retcon Bridget and kill him as a character. The only thing keeping him going is his story of wanting to destroy his village's rule of having different gender twin mean bad.
It's funny because even tho this would be a pretty lame move for any character them making Bridget trans out of nowhere was the single worst character to pick lol. All it did was imply that giving up on your hunt for personal identity and giving in to the way you were raised is apparently a successful character arc.
I'm pretty sure the reason why Yamato called herself a man was because she respected Oden. Not because she's a trans or whatever. Its like these Twitter users feel like they're in the right. Meanwhile its been confirmed that she's female.
Remember when Yang (RWBY) demanded people to call her "sir", because she will tear you apart if you call her sweetheart? I bet people would call Yang trans because of that.
The reason why Luffy's VA is a woman is because men's voice deepen with age. Women naturally have a higher pitched voice, and can maintain a younger role's dubbing far longer due to it.
Welcome to my life... It's like when the woketards claimed that "Pensuke Is Kyubey" in my series when I debunked it in Book 1 and absolutely debunked it in Book 3... Now, they claim they have moved on, but that is only because they don't want anyone knowing about my series. So they are trying to destroy it by making sure word of my series or my channel doesn't come out. This is so sad...
I actually do have a problem with head cannon, because the vast majority of people can’t keep it in their heads, they do their best to transfer it from their head into reality. And 95% of the time their head cannon is completely ridiculous and incredibly stupid.
Reminds me of one time some My Hero Academia maniac sent a DM or tweeted to Horikoshi to make her shipping preference canon in the series by displaying "proof" on why this and that characters should be made into an official couple in the manga.
Most of the time it isn't even actually headcanon. Headcanon is filling in blanks left in canon. What they do is literally rejecting canon and substituting their own.
It's sad to see. Although I barely touch twitter, there's a lot of brain rot in there. Imagine applying the same logic to the artist. The artist want their headcannon to be "real"? What if people start taking your original character and apply their headcannon to them. It's fair right? A rule to them is rule for you. Don't be a hypocrite or start crying when your own character get a headcannon that you don't like and it getting pushed as well.
You can easily be told "You handled this character horribly"--DAISUKE--but if that's what you had planned for the character then you are right. That is what they are and they should be that.
Meanwhile Kiku is probably the best representation of a trans woman I've seen in anime. She asks permission to bathe with the girls and even discusses feelings of dysphoria while bathing with the girls. (She's also in the Grandline Ladys line of figures alongside Yamato. XD) Also, amusingly, Kiku who most people accept as being trans doesn't actually use feminine pronouns consistently. She uses 'sessha' which is a masculine form of 'I' for samurai. It's clear from greater context that Kiku sees herself as a woman and there is no feminine pronoun for samurai, but it proves the point that pronouns aren't as explicitly gendered as they are in English and definitely don't conform to the recent standard of pronouns = gender that only twitter/tumblr weirdos use. I swear it's not just the popularity, between Bridget and Yamato, they are specifically fighting to normalize toxic representation. They don't want the adult choosing to live as the opposite sex. They need a child who was forced to. They stan Kaido for giving his daughter a masculine name, forcing her to wear a mask, and pushing her toward masculine titles as part of Japanese feudal culture. They think it's great that he pushed all that on a child who developed something akin to dissociative identity disorder as a result. I swear they know that 90% of children diagnosed with gender dysphoria grow out of it without medical intervention and are currently fighting to prevent that from happening because they just see more potential trans people. They don't care that growing out of it naturally is the best case scenario for their future mental and physical health.
If a person doesn't grow out of the gender dysphoria and decides to be trans, OK. I understand. They decide to transition and then stick with what they choose to be. Not my business. But, if someone is forcing someone else to present as something that person isn't, why would I support that?
Considering how much of a troll Oda is, I'm sure he is having a field day of thinking of various ways of how much he can really piss these people off...
@@coconuttydragoon3445 and say he does, what he can do is just report all the accounts and cause them to be banned from the platform. Personally if they come back under an alt account only to do the same thing I would strongly suggest both IP banning and sending a notice saying "your actions have been reported to the proper authorities in your area" because these kinds of threats are both disgusting and shows these people were never a fan of the series at all.
@@YokomichiSilver The states are messy area with law at times, I just don’t wanna lose such a talented man like Oda who knows how to spin a story and troll his own true fans with tricks.
Yamato called herself a man not because she identified as a man. But rather, because she admired Oden, and Oden was a man. If Oden was a woman, she simply would not have identified as a man. This was super obvious, and the manga made it super clear. I had no idea why these people hijacked Yamato like that. I get it that some are desperate for representation, but come on, make a comic yourself and give it trans characters, leave other people's art alone.
Because the lustful hunger for validation is so strong they must claim all things that even remotely affirm their beliefs as their own, regardless of context or intent. Bridget must be trans, even though it undermines Bridget's story arc entirely. Yamato must be trans, even though it makes zero sense in the context and goes against the wishes of the creator.
Same reason they ignore the ACTUAL trans character in the arc - it's because Yamato is clearly feminine to the extreme, more popular and it's an even more egregious attack on non-trans people and characters to conquer and claim it for themselves.
You're forgetting these people lack common sense. They have characters like O-kiku who has been described as male(female at heart) making them trans while Yamato's description only says female which if Yamato were trans it would say female(male at heart) but it doesn't.
Yamato calling herself Oden is no different from a kid calling themselves Superman or Batman. These are people who ignore what was already there naturally. They don't actually care about trans folk. If they did they would remember ivankov and his island of okami. These characters have contributed to the story, but they dont acknowledge them. They're just looking for reasons to ruin good characters.
"Yamato is the son of Kaidou. Born as Kaidou's daughter and groomed from a young age to be his heir, Yamato instead developed a profound admiration for the legendary samurai Kozuki Oden. After his death, Yamato chose to become just like Oden, impersonating him and adopting his mannerisms. As a result of this desire to emulate Oden, Yamato decided to become a man and identify as Kaidou's son, and Kaidou and his crew refer to him as such as well."
My goodness I hope Oda doesn't give in to these Twitter freaks. They're basically trying to destroy a franchise and serie they're not even apart of and it needs to be squasht immediately
Well, pretty sure Oda has plenty of experience dealing with such hateful "fans". You simply cannot continuously produce one of the biggest manga series for over 20 years and not run into them, so he should have no issue. Not that he would likely even be much aware of the English Twitter freaks, as he happens to be Japanese. And overall, with Oda's "die for One Piece" mentality it's hard to believe he would succumb to these crybabies.

That last one is so ironic tho. Yamato is a story of a deeply insecure soul that goes so far as to hide her true identity to be more like the one person she respects. She eventually learns that living in the shadow of others is not healthy and becomes her own person by the end of her arc. Turning that into a trans allegory muddles this message, as her hiding her true identity is now seen as a good thing to be replicated.
Kind of like the ancient old discussion about 100 year old child goddesses. "She looks like a child!!!!!!" "Well, she does, but she is 100 years old so she is an adult" "No! Only what we see counts!" "Ok, so Yamato is a woman." "No!!! You can't use my rules agains me. You are cheating!"
My japanese cousin told me why Yamato addresses herself as a "He" b/c Oden is a Samurai and she idolize him so much she wants to become a samurai like oden but woman cant become a samurai
Because of the new Bridget's "sudden changed reveal" because the devs wanted to pander the mediocrity for "more global direction" the old fanbase are kicked from any communtiies if they saying that in the ORIGINAL concept since 20 years, Birdget its a BOY raised as a GIRL but its NOT a T*ns.
Well, technically Bridget is a Trans-man even though he is biologically male. His parents falsified his birth certificate and raised him as female, so he is AFAB. Meaning him giving up and deciding to be female would make him a cis-woman. I asked someone if him being genetically male is why they try to de-legitimatize his struggle, like are they de-legitimatizing real people in similar situation though instead of a superstition it caused by a medical issue called Androgen insensitivity syndrome (genetically males but look female or very feminine due to not reacting to the hormone signals from testosterone telling their bodies to develop into a male during pregnancy). Are they saying those who have this condition and were raised female then transition to male aren't trans just because they are genetically male?

About the Bridget stuff, not suggested, it was canon that Bridget was a male who identified as a Male In fact in almost every ending people call him a girl and he responds that he's male dispite the outfit, then the devs caved into the nutjobs and retconed like 6-10 years of lore, and suddendly changed it all on its head. I don't play the game series, but I wish these game devs would stop catering to morons like the ones that kept going on Bridget was trans all this time. Its literally messing games up how they keep catering to these minoritys that most likely don't even buy the game in the first place. We do not need shoehorned in LBGQTwhatever stuff in games, we never did before and we don't need it now either. No I am not a transphobe, or anti-lbgqtwhatever, just tired of this stuff in games when its not needed and was never needed, and how devs feel the need to put it in even when it doesn't even fit the theme of the game, all for a small group of people that are just loudmouths. Why do I care about the whole Bridget situation when I don't really play the games? You may be asking this and I'll tell you why, its because they retconned established lore for a long standing character just to cater/cave in to a certain audience. Its pandering and this crap is the part of it thats messing up games, as its never been needed, and its not needed now either.
Based on how Oda grows he's characters and the fact Momo refuses to except Yamato as Oden (his farther who for him only died a couple of months) I suspect (hope) Yamato will come to except that she can't be Oden and learn to be happy with herself!
6:00 Just to be clear, the parents really loved Bridget and they deeply regretted that they were forced to raise Bridget like that. They didn't have a choice because the village was going to kill Bridget if they thought they were a boy.
Ah yes oda the creator of one piece the one that literally came up with Yamato. I don’t get these types of people, some of these people need to be locked up in a psychiatric ward. She’s a woman. It’s ok if you wanna make Yamato in your own head cannon but just don’t threaten the author. Also loved the vid Rev!
Oda comes across as sincere, so I can take him at his word regarding Yamato. In contrast, the Bridget situation appears disingenuous because it contradicts previously established lore. It seems like Ishiwatari made the change for social praise and "muh global audience". It's not about the face value of the creator's words; it's about creative integrity.
Literally in an interview last week, he admitted he made changes on characters and story not to harm global communities, it's a hard confirm that the Bridget stuff was a retcon.
@@PsypherWolf That's probably part of the reason they support it because I doubt there's ever been a case of a single person believing they were trans on their own and not under the influence of somebody else.
Even then, Daisuke is blatantly lying through his teeth. He had to be taught about trannoids *after* he butchered Bridget, the whole reason for the 180 was to be able to sell GG in China, a nation so anti-progressive being gender non-conforming is outright forbidden but becoming transgender is a legal loophole.
Some people just want to say that a character is trans even if the character isn't trans themselves. If the creator says that their character isn't trans then twitter freaks will send death threats since it doesn't follow what they think is right.
These people are like "accept it, you are just transfobic". But, isn't it weird, i't like they want it, they need them to accept it just to have someone to throw hate at and bully them, they don't care for the character or the motive. They just harass without thinking. So... you can fight back by saying "I will accept it ONLY if you accept that you are misogynist and a coward for bullying people online!"
What's really annoying to about the whole "Yamato is trans" debate is that is that a lot of these people I'd bet didn't give a shit about One Piece before the trans Yamato stuff started. There just people hopping on the bandwagon trying to ruin yet another thing with there sjw politics nobody in this space asked for.
I'll say this only once: Yamato is actually what you'd call a "Tomboy". And you all know the definition of that. See, Kaido wanted a son, but got a daughter. But still, treated his kid like a son. So, Yamato was just groomed like that. Anyone saying Yamato is Trans, that's actually a stretch. Not quite it. I rest my case.
Yamato isn't a Tomboy. A Tomboy is a girl who is still a girl who does boyish stuff. Yamato is a girl who was raised as a boy, lost her identity and picked up what basically amounts to the identity of a superhero and has chosen to model her life as being that superhero. She doesn't have gender disphoria she has an Identity issue that she is slowly coming to terms with. Its the same as if an adult is going to work wearing a Batman Costume and tells everyone they must address him as Batman. Yamato is the result of having a mentally abusive parental figure in her life.
This whole trans argument is pretty much reaching it's logical conclusion. There are no rules, consistency or reality-based evidence for transgenderism, it's all subjectivity, sex/gender are separate except when it comes to deciphering whether a character's Man or Woman because their character bio states they are Female and trans doesn't mean transitioning towards any gender, it's a perpetual state of ambiguity and with Bridget, you can be a full-blown woman simply by cosplaying one and wearing a dress.
Definitely! Especially when you find out that Bridget was changed because of China's new law on banning feminine men/crossdessers on TV and not because of "character development", makes you have less respect for Arc Systems and the statement, "Bridget is a boy", true.
Just outta curiousity... I paused and read the dev's response to the bridget = trans thing and I'm confused. Bridget was born male, parents make her female to avoid a silly superstition from their village... so bridget acts like a male to try and bring in money to the village that somehow dispells the superstition and allows bridget to stay as a woman? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It's like reading a really shitty fanfic from a 13 year old, or am I just not understanding it? --Edit-- nvm, I read the background story and its even worse than I thought... "go my son, go out and bring back riches to the village, that'll dispel the superstition of male twins being a terrible omen...." said the multi-billionaire parents.

@@coffeecake7222 Twins being an omen (Good or ill) is actually a pretty common thing in real cultures because of how abnormal it is in humans. Usually associated with things that happen around them determining what kind of omen it is. Bridget was dressed up as and treated like a girl to avoid having to be killed because his village specifically declared it to be an ill omen if the twins were of the same sex. Likely some event or war took place shortly after the first birth of twins of the same gender that was considerably horrific. Naturally as Bridget got older, he started to resent and feel frustrated he couldn't be his true self as a male. So he started bounty hunting to prove his masculinity. But since he dresses like a girl out of precaution and habit, people still confuse him for one. The story of Bridget in Gulty Gear is iconic to that of every young male out there trying to make their own way in the world. Bridget's unique situation simply calls his masculinity in question and he's trying to rectify that with his survival. The thing is that in the latest game, every character in the story mode has certain endings if you lost a fight at key points or if you went 10-0 full dominate. In the 'skill issue' ending for Bridget where you lost a key fight, he loses all confidence in himself and submits to fully being female because the world has beaten him down to the point he just can't take it and his psyche breaks. This is the ending that most of these losers will see because they're dogshit at games and they love this ending anyway. In the 'total domination' ending, Bridget gains the confidence in himself that throws off whatever label the world has and declares he's his own person. He may still dress like a girl but he's comfortable and confident enough in himself that he is 'a man' regardless of his appearance. But the total domination ending wasn't enough for the freaks and they wanted Bridget to submit to their desires to have brand representation. So they quanified the endings as 'good and bad' and forced the developer to cater to their whims. Because all the stories contradict each other anyway, there really isn't a 'true canon'.
I mean it’s one thing to use long established fanon like with Harry Potter where the fans prefer to use the fan made world building instead of the cannon stuff released a decade later or to change character’s or story points that are just badly written or don’t mesh well with the rest of cannon but when the author says something that doesn’t conflict with the story that’s that

This is the same people that think spiderr-gwen is trans and think it's alright for a 16 yo girl to be going through hormone therapy at a young age. No, tran kids don't exist. There's just kids until they're adults, then they can do what they want.
Take this with a grain of salt, but I have heard through the grapevine that most of these twitter activists do turn out to be active groomers themselves. So yeah, of course they'd be into stuff like this.
Am I the only one who remembers Bon Clay, Emporio, and the Newkama Island? This only tells you that, most likely, they only care about Yamato exclusively, yet none of them seem to ever bring up those previous characters and their moments. On a side note, Im pretty sure spiting Oda, is just gonna make him wanna troll them back. Just saying.
That's also why I'm kinda glad she didn't join the crew (tho' I'm pretty sure Oda pulled out last minute) because that meant these arguments would become much less prevalent. AND, as a character, she had a weak personal motivation; instead of having her own strong personal ambitions, she piggybacks off someone else's journey, who she didn't know get to know personally.
They only care about the fight. Is anyone fighting over pronouns for Ivanakov? No, so they are uninterested. But if we would create a fight around it, these people would flock like moths to a flame and be loud about which pronoun is correct.
As most have said here. Clearly Yamato is a woman. A tall woman at that. As a little girl she admired Oden as her hero and role model not like her dad who didn't want her growing up believing fantasies like Oden. So much like a child who wants to be their favorite super hero or something she says I'M KOZUKI ODEN! Another thing, she might be more tom boy then anything since she didn't grow up girlie. She just fought for life a lot and since Kaido wanted a Son he keeps calling Yamato a Son.
Anyone notice that these twitter loons tend to celebrate characters that were forced to identify as the opposite gender? And even tend to force creators of characters, with only the slight suspicion of gender dysphoria and no matter how much it would be proven to be false, forcing them to abide by their head cannons? It says alot, honestly. It very much reflects what's going on in schools.
Representation is cool, but it has to be done naturally. I hate that this whole issue has a part of me concerned and paranoid. These people are really making us look bad, and will likely be the cause of some actual transphobes. During this video, I also had a mini-nightmare about people suddenly debating whether Timmy Turner was trans because of that one episode where he accidentally wished he was a girl.
@@ninjapirate1721 yeah you ignore those pricks, they are clueless morons and will never be satisfied. go look at actual trans characters, the girl from wonder egg is an absolutely brilliantly written trans girl.
*Just like for GUILTY GEAR:* Their mission is to keep pushing to a point where the creator will bend over backward and accept these weirdos' wishes by making the character the way they want.
Many Japanese women have voiced male characters and have done an outsanding job doing so. They have voiced side characters, main characters, boys, teenagers and occasionally some adults. It's really telling how little they care and how non existent is their knowledge of the media they consume when they use female seiyuu's roles as male characters to prove anything related to trans people.
Twitter would be saying any girl in Whitebeard's crew would be trans because he calls them his "sons" and they call him "pops". Also, remember when gender dysphoria was a factor in these discussions?
"Also, remember when gender dysphoria was a factor in these discussions?" Yup. That was before it was popular and beneficial to be trans. I'd wager that more than half of all "trans" people aren't actually transgender at all. They even attack trans people who acknowledge gender dysphoria as being real because it invalidates their "my gender is whatever I say it is" narrative.
Twitter Freaks: Yamato is trans stop being transphobic Also them harassing the creator for confirming Yamato is a woman: How dare you be transphobic Some Guy: Those freaks need Jesus .... Some Muslim Guy: There are 2 genders and you can't change my mind ....

6:00 - they are male. It wasn't suggested. For YEARS it's been this way. The developers OUT OF NOWHERE decided they wanted brownie points so they retconned the ef out of Bridget. I don't care what they say now. This is nothing similar to one piece's situation. Bridget was clearly male, but they did the 180 YEARS later when they saw people arguing.
Yo, I really hope oda says something about this because I know damn well that oda is not gonna let this fly especially at the fact that HE MADE THE DAMN CHARACTER. It’s crazy how people say that ODA is wrong about his OWN character, either they don’t know oda is the creator or they are so delusional and want someone to be trans so bad. These people need to stop because they already queer characters in one piece, hell there is even a island for queers so why are they trying so hard for this to happen.
What is it with these twitterheads that makes them declare any char trans if they wear clothes or pretend to be the opposite sex for story reasons. They did it with cloud, they do it with link and so on. Seriously it is incredible.
There's nothing that disgust me more as a writer than people wanting to change to THEIR vision of something YOU have created, and once you affirm something of your OWN creation, people will villanaize you somehow and feel victimized.
One Piece has such amazing representation, there have been some hiccups, but the longer it goes on the better Oda is getting at it, Kiko and Izu are good examples of a trans, and I think Izu identifies as male but adopts a more feminine look, can't Yamato just be another type of complex identity? is it not valid that they are a female with a more nuanced personality, akin to being an otaku, striving to embody the traits of someone that left a big impression on them, does it really have to be sexual? its not like we're lacking trans or queer representation in OP.
Same issue as this is happening with Bleach and Giselle Gewelle. The scene is going to be animated this part and light twitter on fire, even though the author has already said its a guy.
I think the main disconnect is that these twitter freaks have a hard time understanding that someone 'being a man' doesn't necessarily STRICTLY mean 'I'm biologically/identify as male'. It's very possible that Yamato *could* identify a certain set of values as 'being a man', values she saw in this other dude she respects so much. So if he's the ideal of what a man is, for Yamato, then if she wants to be like him, she wants to 'be a man', even if that doesn't necessarily mean that she feels like a male. I know this logic sounds kinda fucky, but that's how language is sometimes. The same word can mean a different thing to any given person.
What's even more hilarious is the fact that Yamato denounces her role as "Oden" at the end of Wano and goes back to being just Yamato. So the Twitter mob loses regardless.
It annoys me to no end that ANY gender nonconforming characters cannot exist without automatically being slapped with a trans label. I completely understand the want for representation in media but harassing a creator AFTER they've established Canon is so childish and stupid. Can you imagine being that entitled?
1. Yamato isn't trans, She's idolizing her dead Hero. There's a difference between Self proclaiming someone and Being Trans. This ain't it but hey, people can be dumb 2. Bridget isn't even trans to begin with. He is a boy in Guilty Gear X2 the backstory and Dialogue says it all. But now that the Strive game RETCON his backstory, Guilty Gear X2 isn't canon to Bridget anymore because it doesn't fit the changed narrative on the Strive game. Which that's insane
Insane shit honestly. Also glad to see you won the appeal. For the Bridgett stuff it get's worse, It's come out now they %100 changed it for topical and ((Western)) reasons. Monroe covered it pretty damn well too.
This is literally the Undertale fandom. They constantly claim Chara is not evil and force that crap on others and those who disagree otherwise, they get harassed and get accused of blaming chara.
So the biggest problem with Yamato is that she did say that shes Oden, true. But that's the point. She want to be Oden she want to live the life he had ect. IF you actually read the manga you would get that. If Oden was a Woman, same, she want's to be her. For her its not male/female, its about the idea of the hero of Wano.
Around the 3 minute mark I meant to say "Yamato" not "Bridget" lol

Yamato is a story of a deeply insecure soul that goes so far as to hide her true identity to be more like the one person she respects. She eventually learns that living in the shadow of others is not healthy and becomes her own person by the end of her arc. Turning that into a trans allegory muddles this message, as her hiding her true identity is now seen as a good thing to be replicated.

How can someone be so delusional to tell the creator of said fiction is wrong about the fiction they created 💀
6:00 Just to be clear, the parents really loved Bridget and they deeply regretted that they were forced to raise Bridget like that. They didn't have a choice because the village was going to kill Bridget if they thought they were a boy.
Bridget isn’t actually trans, but the studio was so concerned for the lives of their staff that they caved.
But if they don't threaten the author enough, then said author won't change it so that it fits what they want.

If we are ignoring author statements now, i think it's fair that we get to have bridget back
Definitely! Especially when you find out that Bridget was changed because of China's new law on banning feminine men/crossdessers on TV and not because of "character development", makes you have less respect for Arc Systems and the statement, "Bridget is a boy", true.
Indeed, and Declare to the world that "PENSUKE IS NOT KYUBEY!!! STAY MAD!!!"
When they made Guilty Gear, there wasn't even a word. The devs kowtowed to the vocal minority.
Didn't think we'd relive the Bridget drama again, but then I remember this is Twitter.
@@coffeecake7222 Apparently to appease the Western audience they had to change the gender of two other characters Bridget and Trstament. Apparently traps are illegal now.
@@coffeecake7222 It's pretty fucking obvious Daisuke didn't think about all the implications behind Bridget's backstory, because storywise his parents stayed without reasonin the village after the war ended.
@@youdontneedtoknow7548 Actually, this was done so they could have their game in China without it being banned. There was a recent law banning feminine men and crossdressers on TV. So this situation is a bit worse...
Saying to the author that he wrote the character wrong is just insanity
The only time you could get away with saying that is if you write about a real world person in a parody way and not say you did
I mean it’s one thing to use long established fanon like with Harry Potter where the fans prefer to use the fan made world building instead of the cannon stuff released a decade later or to change character’s or story points that are just badly written or don’t mesh well with the rest of cannon but when the author says something that doesn’t conflict with the story that’s that
I like how these people are saying Oda is transphobic, while in the same arc Yamato was introduced also introduce Okiku a person who is trans gender as well as having characters in the past being trans.
Yamato is confirmed to be a woman, by her specifically, those people dont read between the lines, she is carrying the message of Oden, she literally fell in love with him and his heroism, those people are delusional, the author should make a beach episode with Yamato, Nami and Robin as a slap in the face. Does a woman calling herself Goku make her a man because he is her role model?
