You can blame the twitter algo for that one. It rates tweets based on engagement levels. Dumb hot takes generate a lot of engagement because people who agree or disagree will clash in the threads to generate more engagement. Engagement in this case, refers to anything that prompts a response from the user.
@SomeDumbassOnRUclips For you seeing posts like this are so devastating they hammer away at your faith in humanity. But for me who lost faith in humanity when I was 12, it's Tuesday.
I’ve always said western culture loves to demonize or other eastern things. Doesn’t matter if it’s television, comics, games, music or even religion/beliefs. It’s something I’ve always noticed and I feel like xenophobia and racism towards eastern people and cultures gets ignored very often. Like it’s okay for western games and comics to do crazy stuff but once it’s eastern games and comics it’s a massive problem. Like I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a sexualized character in western series and nobody bats an eye.
To me, it seems like if a piece of media appears to be appealing to a primarily straight male audience, it needs to be censored (regardless if males are not the only ones who enjoy it.) But since Baldur's Gate appeals to a wide range of sexuality, it's getting a free pass. Which I'm totally fine with, its just amusing to see how lacking of self awareness these journalists are.
It’s because anime is successful now and all the western stuff is being ignored, and it’s because Japan loves cuteness, there’s so many manga (nearly every manga) where the girls are extremely cute and act in very cute ways. Show me a single American comic where the female characters act in a cute way, you won’t find a single one. They all act like men.
Western Morality is messed up. They want to baby sit their children from childhood till they become adults thus the stunted development of their brains. They've been censoring games for a long time now since the 8bit era. The heck, who will even get aroused with a naked 8bit woman?. You won't even see anything damn it!. Blood gets turned to green goo and crosses or any depiction of any kind of religion are removed or changed. Skeletons are also not allowed. Any depiction of d3ath are removed. Even already rated M games still gets to be censored. This is so stupld.
I notice this too. I think it's partly due to the new red scare that's going on + an overall fear of new foreign things so it gets labelled weird. irrational feelings they try to back up with "facts" that reinforce their confirmation bias creating an echo chamber in the process.
TO me it just seems like the same few people over and over again. That will gladly approval of anything they and their friends do. While disliking anything outside their own group. For the western comic book industry has people like this. That have show they are like a bucket of crabs. Everyone has to go down with the ship. For they can't stand something being more popular and successful than their work. They hate it. Rather than understanding the idea of mixing everything together into a single piece of media, might not be the best idea, more so for trying to force people to like it. Being more like japan, having mecha shows for mecha fans, action shows for actions fans, romance stories for people who like that. no they need to shove everything into one story, even if the elements they are trying to force in conflict with one another or drag down the story's quality. For they just want to control what everyone else does and push their awful stories onto people.
I've realized recently that zoomers that claim to be "weebs" dont actually want Japanese media, they want western media with a kawaii coat of paint. The dreaded "localized for western audiences" is a direct consequence of that. What happened to weeb culture in the west is a great example as to why gatekeeping in moderation is necessary for any fandom. You absolutely do not want your niche hobbies to become mainstream.
I would generally say that's more true of millenials. The older zoomers that I know are either jaded from anime entirely by the more recent seasonals and prefer older media, or they are JP vtuber fans that love whatever anime comes out, regardless of controversy. Hell the more controversial it was the more likely they were to watch it, and they actually tend to make the effort to learn Japanese to understand the meanings behind the subtitles. TL;DR: Gen z doesn't have the reigns of institutional power yet, and we're tired of the bullshit coming down from the institutions.
@nuclearsynapse5319 I would actually probably fall into the category of older Gen Z (born in 99), and in my experience, it's mostly people in the 15-21 age range that act like this. It's very rarely people 25+ who harass artists over ships or complain that fanservice makes them uncomfortable and should be removed.
I guess the admin got that removed because they basically kicked them out because of having such a terrible opinion that makes the whole thing look worse.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the scene in mass effect from that Twitter post was where Miranda was explaining to Shepard that she was literally designed by her father to be as sexually appealing as possible. If that's the case it could easily be argued that the shot was put there to emphasize the point, literally forcing you to look at her the way, not her, but her father intended. If I'm correct that directly plays into her character arc of breaking away from him and trying to become her own person, and contradicts the Twitter freaks nonsense. Which isn't hard to do since 99% of the time they have no knowledge of what they're criticizing
There's also the fact that TIM is trying to convince you to join Cerberus though all kinds of means, so why wouldn't he use Miranda's sex appeal? It's not explicitly stated, but it seems to me to be a pretty obvious conclusion.
I encountered that yesterday with the bugbear(werewolf) fucking a female orge and it was funny but awkward as I apologize only for them to try and attack me for stopping their intimacy. I didn’t kill them just knocked them out, because that’s on me for walking in on them in a farm house.

Antis seem to think people don’t want the sexual things in games. In actuality, we don’t care, but it’s bullshit that you celebrate it in one place and are against it to the point of outright racism in the other direction
It’s because all the scenes in Baldur’s are with ugly characters, so that’s A-ok, but once the characters are good looking anime girls it becomes a BIG no no.
I find this theory so hilarious. It paints the picture that they relate themselves as ugly monsters such as ogres instead of human beings. I wonder if that's a body dismorphia thing and they find comfort in the ogre getting some action. 😂
Yes they have insane logic they will apply their rules whenever they can and however they can because they want to. Btw the only reason they're happy is because of the bear thing, they're insane and will love that weird shit

Either game journos are weird degenerates with a nasty furry fetish, or they just want gamers to be disgusted purely out of spite. The former is definitely a possibility, but the latter is more likely considering the decades-long pattern of pure disdain for gamers they've shown already.
I kinda feel the one about random sex scenes in tv shows and movies, mostly because a lot of them make sex seem like the most unpleasant an unappealing thing ever so it's just there for awkwardness and shock value rather than being a fanservice kind of thing or serving a purpose in the story

Cuteness is justice. I don't care about beauty but keep making characters look cute. Because if a character is cute than anything is excusable. One very cute character can singlehandedly support an entire game and make people buy it and try playing for that singular reason. I don't care what you do with your art and characters but keep making cute characters in games, it gives people something to fight for. Because if anything is universally agreed upon then it's that cuteness is justice.
These videos make me think. Like if everyone who likes these things (myself included) would be more vocal about liking things, the impact the haters have would be much less. It's because the haters are louder, that companies and individuals bend to them. But people who like the stuff are satisfied so don't feel the need to say anything. Why do we have a problem about anime characters that look like children that are adult, yet they don't complain about the halflings who look like kids in the character creation being nude. It confuses me to no end 3 things 1 - Why are these people so quick to hate on anime themes, especially the sexual stuff, but often have some of the most sexually charged likes I've ever seen in my life. (Especially but not always furries for some reason) I was once harassed on discord for a drawing I made of an anime girl and they said I was going to hell. There profile picture was 2 gay furries giving it to each other BTW 2 - If anime is so full of this stuff, and they know it, why do they still watch it/engage with it? I mean I don't like drama shows or reality TV for example. I don't sit down, turn on the TV and watch these shows, I avoid them, I let the people who like them watch them and I watch my stuff 3 - Why are so many of these people so quick to attack anime for such themes but are not only OK, but often praise the same themes in American games/media? The most famous example of course is the on mass hate Uzaki Chan got when her Anime was airing, but for some reason at the same time a lot of the same people on twitter who attacked Uzaki praised that Cutie Movie or Show or whatever it was that had real life child exploitation and children in situations dangerously close to the kind of thing the FBI would get involved with? Speaking of, isn't Cuties a French show? Correct me if I am wrong, I might be I just refuse to look up anything about that show, but isn't France also aggressively against anime stuff also? It makes me think that people who are against anime and manga are more racist to the japanese, and more trying to cover their own very sick tracks, as proven countless times by Rev with those 4 beautiful words. YOUR LIKES ARE PUBLIC! lol If people can explain to me these 3 things thanks
Most people also don't realize anime characters look younger than their actaul age. Shinichi in uzaki chan looks no different from 14 year Olds but is apparently in college. You also have the opposite end with characters like jitaro somehow looking 17. Mothers look like their teenagers in anime.

6:57 Years ago, when I was more involved in the RWBY fandom (specifically the subreddit because it was arguably the most populous and centralized discussion point), sometime during the airing of what I believe was Volume 4, some discourse came up that necessitated the usage of "Don't Like, Don't Watch". However, an uncomfortable amount of people compared me and others using that "argument" to having a friend who is a crippling alcoholic. I imagine that what they thought they were arguing is that not criticizing a show that they (claim) that they used to love is analogous with not intervening when a friend has self-destructive tendencies. Regardless of one's personal opinions on RWBY (I personally think it's an amazing show for what it is, and the people who most often criticize it either haven't been paying attention, or get their opinions from those same people), it is BEYOND reprehensible to compare a show (seemingly) doing something you don't like to having a friend with a substance abuse problem.

Reminder that in BG3 you can make a halfling female character (aka childlike) and 'romance' adult npcs just the same, all this in a realistic artstyle. Yet the same mofos that defend this would also tear out their hair and scream "Literal child!" when looking at 2D anime loli with basketball eyes. Never let them live down this hypocrisy.
You know, that's very questionable. Like why is something like _realistic_ games like BG3 is praised yet _stylized_ games are shamed? Halflings can still pull the 1000 year loli act.

Feels like it's too late now, sadly.
Oi, oi, don't lump me in with these jackholes!

Cuteness is justice. I don't care about beauty but keep making characters look cute. Because if a character is cute than anything is excusable. Why do we have a problem about anime characters that look like children that are adult, yet they don't complain about the halflings who look like kids in the character creation being nude. And on top of that, when they be concerned about a female halfling having sex with a bear, considering they look like kids in a sexual encounter? But nothing surprises me on social media anymore. They're all suffering from mental disorders. It's like having the patient's run the Asylum.
It confuses me to no end 3 things
1 - Why are these people so quick to hate on anime themes, especially the sexual stuff, but often have some of the most sexually charged likes I've ever seen in my life. (Especially but not always furries for some reason) I was once harassed on discord for a drawing I made of an anime girl and they said I was going to hell. There profile picture was 2 gay furries giving it to each other BTW
2 - If anime is so full of this stuff, and they know it, why do they still watch it/engage with it? I mean I don't like drama shows or reality TV for example. I don't sit down, turn on the TV and watch these shows, I avoid them, I let the people who like them watch them and I watch my stuff
3 - Why are so many of these people so quick to attack anime for such themes but are not only OK, but often praise the same themes in American games/media?
The Fall of Twitter has really brought out the worst in people.

I constantly see this with fan service, people endlessly crying that there’s too much fan service in a manga. That’s the entire reason that manga is being created, it’s being created for people who like fan service, so go read something else you puritan.
Remember Omega Labyrinth Z and how it got banned by sony. Never forget.
Kind of a tired mantra at this point but it bears repeating: Gatekeep your hobbies or these control freaks come in and try to ruin it for old-time fans and fans who enjoy the original form of whatever they're a fan of.
Prevent new fans from getting to your hobbies they are all invaders
they're only ok with baldur's gate bc they don't like when fictional characters are more attractive than them, and bc japan doesn't conform to their views, meaning anything japan makes or inspires is automatically trash unless it caters to them
5:54 "we should hold women to the same standards as men" = internalized misogyny. smartest twitter user
8:05 surprisingly, i see this attitude from both the left and the right. perhaps for different reasons, but the same result regardless
9:48 it really strikes me as strange that somehow, violence is ok, but not sexual themes. if you're gonna clutch pearls, clutch pearls equally
13:06 "attractive character design good" = "story who?" apparently
Also, don’t forget how twitch well pretty much Instaban you if you put in nude mods in a game.
(I’m not referencing the Chun-Li Thing, it’s funny though.)

Isn't the entire purpose of "flashy" character designs to fit the narrative of their own game world? Also, at this point the western hypocrisy is starting to look more like a way to gatekeep any individual new to those topics from consuming anything made in japan instead to rely on "more local" stuff.
More people need to be told to "F!!! OFF!!!", especially these "moral busy bodies".
I’m gonna have to look up that One Piece volleyball scene. For research purposes of course
I think they missed the point of horror making being uncomfortable
The line between fiction snd reality is getting very blurry for some people and its genuinely concerning at this point
it's jarring that people don't understand that rape falls under horror...its ridiculously obvious...
some people should stay far away from the horror genre.
not to be confused with action horror like resident evil, dead space ect. which are power fantasy's in horror settings.
13:53 i cannot find anything about them toning down sexual content. the article you showed had nothing to do with it either. what is this based on?
I have been wondering what makes Baldur's Gate 3 so special. Then I realized it's because of critical role. D&D is hip and mainstream now, so anything it does is celebratory. If Matt Mercer decided to play visual novels instead, we would be in a very different timeline.
Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and Neverwinter Nights series always have been rather special though. They inspired a lot of other games.
Companies need to stop listening to people on Twitter in the very few that have no clue what they’re doing because nobody wants the stuff but that won’t happen
We just need to accept that journalism is dead and that Twitter is full of miserable people who are looking for a purpose in life, but are too dense to realize how hypocritical they sound.
There’s stuff in anime and media in general I don’t like. I don’t throw a fit however. I just don’t watch it if it makes me feel uncomfortable. Social media looks good on paper, but in reality it’s dumbed a lot of people down
Thats one of the reasons why i left and deleted my social media account long time ago. No regrets!
@@grambo4436 I did the same. Couldn’t take all the nonsensical BS anymore. Closest thing to social media I use is RUclips
Generally horror doesn't contain rape does it? It is usually a monster eating someone or some such.
Ah yes, demanding people to not do things that they don't like as if they're the ones who raised us and think that we owe them a favor.
Square swallowed that ESG pill. Don't expect a turn around unless investors make a proxy fight to spill the board or the business environment shifts dramatically.
Twitter users try to be normal for once (IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE)
Keep up the good fight Rev. Monetizing the idiots is the best way to fight back against them.
I'll be honest. That "megan is missing" tweet confused me. Because i can't remember the last horror movie i wanted that had a rape scene. And I've watched a good amount of horror
When are ppl gonna learn, Sex sells...
I’ve seen the tweets hating on Mari. I don’t know much about her but I have seen some of her tweets. Like one of them was her complaining about people being attracted to Gwen from Ben 10 (younger her) and saying “her adult future self exists! Why can’t you be attracted to her instead?” which I thought was kind of ridiculous.
Other than that she seemed okay. Not problematic whatsoever.
I mean, it's a pretty good point. They're the same character, so it's kinda sus to pick the 10 year old variant if you're not a 10 year old yourself
I'm confused about that too. Even her alien force is rarely used.
@@kristophesiem5336 Is it though? Ben 10 came out in 2005 and the people who liked Gwen were probably around 10 or younger.
Also, I feel like you’re new to Rev’s videos.
