I think if this DCU ever reaches a Flashpoint scenario, I wanna see Henry Back as a Cameo. He doesn't need to stay. But I'd like it to be acknowledged that he was a good Superman. He was just stuck in a bad script and was still in a point of his career where he couldn't afford to speak out against it.
This decade 2025 - 2035 MIGHT be of DCU because just like Kevin Feige, Gunn is also a comic book fan...unlike Sony, who only made Spider-man spinoff movies like Kraven and Morbius just for money.
Cavill will always be known as the superman who was mistreated. he had so much potential and I get why Gunn replaced him but he was robbed of a sequel to man of steel and who knows how many other great movies. I like the bright colors and its a relief after that dark ass coloring of Snyders films. lets go I am really excited to see this and I have not been to a flick since The Batman
The trailer doesn't say much, it just peaks interest. Marvel is currently crashing out, we just need to see if DC can recover from their own cinematic failures.
It goes back and forth. When I was a kid in the 1980s, no kid cared about Marvel (except for the Incredible Hulk because of the TV series with Bill Bixby). Back then, the sun rised and set on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. But a couple generations later, it's all about Marvel and you constantly hear, "I hate DC" or "DC sucks." As for me... I just like good movies. I don't care which company makes them. If Marvel has a good movie, I'm there. If DC has a good movie, I'm there. I don't own stock in either company and can easily enjoy both.
Yeah I watched Thor 4 and Black Adam and I did enjoy them, they were fun to watch. Though, after re-watching the old Avenger movies I'm so disappointed with what they did with Thor and I would take a more serious action movie any day over a fun super hero movie. Because while fun movies are, well, fun, I'd only watch them once, while I've watched most of the Avenger movies over 3 times in a short span of time.
The new Superman movie genuinely looks like it'll be good. I personally will always believe Henry Cavill is the most perfect casting as Superman (regardless of story writing). But David Corenswet looks great too and I'll never just write off another movie and casting because its not him. I do hope Janes Gunn might gift us with a cameo or team up of Cavill's Superman at some point, should it work in the story.
I wasn't even that hard to impress. But Marvel in the last 3-4 years has stooped so low that I haven't watched anything marvel or comic book-related since 2021. I watched the superman trailer by mistake and boy did it get me excited like a little boy. Superman isn't even my favorite superhero! That's how good this trailer is. I really.. really hope that this doesn't disappoint. I really wanna get back to enjoying superhero movies
In 1986, Marvel comics put out a new line of comics with more grounded and realistic settings called New Universe. They ran for 3 years and were cancelled in 1989 due to poor sales across the board with the already existing Marvel univers and New Universe. It was deemed an internal issue because it spread their resources too thin to the point that Marvel was competing with itself. In 2019 Disney+ was first introduced as a streaming network of both Disney and Marvel IPs, including past Marvel shows and new miniseries that would connect to the MCU. Though Disney+ is still ongoing, it's caused a rift within the MCU with mismanagement of resources and ruining the already dying cinema experience, creating poor sales. Why watch a movie in theaters when you can just for it on Disney+ in a few months. Marvel has a history of expanding beyond their reach which leads to poor quality products. The biggest detriment to Marvel and the MCY is Disney+ along with the overall lack of competition.
One thing about this trailer I love is that I noticed myself being happy and hyped over superhero movie trailer. Last time I remember something like that was about endgame and the batman trailer
The new Superman movie is getting a lot of love. But with that comes greater expectations, and the risk of fans feeling let down if the final film isn't everything they envisioned. And, yes, Marvel has lost its way. Not only the multiverse nonsense, but they're pushing forward those "strong female characters" that fans just aren't interested in. Sure, the original Captain Marvel movie made over a billion dollars, but it was sandwiched at the end of the Avengers/Thanos saga. But Brie Larson wasn't interesting, and it's relentless push for "girl power" was a precursor to what was to follow. I still remember the groans and laughs in the theater when during "Endgame", all those female characters were put together, apart from the rest of the chaos. What concerns me the most about the new Superman entry is it looks like it might be stuffed full of villains/possible allies. Once again, it is if DC won't take the time to put forward new characters in their own origin stories, and then build toward a climax after years of development. Will Superman be the new Iron Man? Remember, in that case, there was only one real foe, not five or six. Keep it simple at first, and then add in new characters over time.
The worst thing about that Endgame scene was that it sacrificed logic for virtue signaling. Captain Marvel has Thor-level power, she doesn't need backup. I saw it in a college town and the audience ate it up. I'm a fan of multi-verses, despite the fact that they pretty much eliminate stakes. Marvel and DC have been doing it in their comics for decades. Stakes haven't existed since Jean Grey was resurrected 40 years ago. I would have the same concerns about too much character bloat if this were any other writer/director than James Gunn. If you look at his track record, he doesn't waste characters. Considering he has the uncanny ability to make totally forgotten D list characters interesting, I can only imagine what he'll do with Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, Hawk Woman and Guy Gardner. If James Gunn was required to put She-Hulk, the Marvels and the Spider-Women from Madam Web together in a movie (with Morbius) he could make it work.
I feel like im the only one who didnt find the color grading "jarring". I have watched James Gunn's previous movies. So I know his style... I think everyone knows his style by now after Guardians and The Suicide Squad. James Gunn is the one to do a superman movie. Im not questioning it now after his previous films.
I liked the trailer, but in terms of the approach, it's not just Gunn listening to fans. It's Gunn being himself, with animal friends and a band of lovable misfits. Is Superman going to get to be the star of his own movie? I have my doubts (and even that doesn't guarantee it will be good.)
How does a less than 2 min trailer for a Superman movie translate into “Dc is destroying the MCU”? 🙄 I love comics and super hero movies. Why does everything have to be framed as an either A or B? Can’t we just watch the shows and be entertained? And if you must discuss other projects why not highlight ones like the excellent Superman and Lois that just wrapped?
I showed the trailer to one of my sisters. Who likes comic book films but doesn't read comics. She said 'I like the dog. I want to see it.' Given that the vast majority of cinemagoers will have never read a comic in their lives, if that hooks one of them, it's a start.
a good and well-made super hero movie will of course attract comic book and super hero fans. but i will also attract it´s fair share of casual viewers who are not very deeply invested in such movies but who still love to be entertained by a good movie.
I always knew DC would be back on top one day I just thought it would be with The Batman Saga. But I'm excited that it might be with Superman. That's a nice change of pace.
You don't know if Gunn is prioritizing comic books, fans or story, actually, customs are horrible, he was not smiling, if we wanted a bright superman they only gave us a triler with more color, not a brighter superman. Lets wait till the release and lets see what Gunn did, the trailer did not produce anything on me, they are all emotionless, except for Hoult.
I agree with what you talked about marvel’s flops and oopsies like Agatha Love and Thunder Quantumania and She-Hulk but buying back the Fox franchise alongside Ryan Reynolds Hugh Jackman etc can be difficult for DC to compete 😂
To be honest James Gunn could have just talk to Henry about about his character. Zack Snyder and James Gunn are both directors while Henry Calvil is a actor so most of the DC movies the actors are in you can blame the director for the films.
We've reached a breaking point. These are the only movies that get made anymore, literally. We get no new movies and therefore no new movies stars. What happened to a good old fashioned drama? A suspense thriller? Just a movie? A regular ol movie with a compelling character and a story that says something as to the human experience? I'm not morning or complaining, maybe we just don't wanna watch movies or series anymore and real life media is what we actually want to see, which is fine by me.

Very keen to watch this 😊
I was shocked at how much I liked the trailer!
1:06 wait blue bettle is out?!?!?
Last year, trash film
@cenchv2 I completely forgot it even existed
Bro is late
Correct! Listen to the fans! Thats how these characters got popular to begin with.
Marvels CEO's Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didn’t Stop To Think If They Should
It goes back and forth. When I was a kid in the 1980s, no kid cared about Marvel (except for the Incredible Hulk because of the TV series with Bill Bixby). Back then, the sun rised and set on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. But a couple generations later, it's all about Marvel and you constantly hear, "I hate DC" or "DC sucks."
As for me...
For the first time in ages, I'm more excited for a DC film rather than anything Marvel has to offer.
DC always make high quality of Justice League animated movies. So it's not like they are not capable of creating good movies.
Apparently, this video has gotten you labeled as a RIGHT WINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DC is treating the Multiverse like a medium to explore possibilities, as a 'What If' instead of Multiversal Crises all the time.
Nah dcu will not be mcu 2.0
Dcu will be star wars of superhero
Superheroes are already established in this universe since ww 2
All superheros in Superman are there for story reasons
I don’t see the DCEU overtaking the MCU if I’m being honest. Marvel only needs one good movie and immediately everyone will be watching again
Let’s just hope marvel doesn’t mess up doomsday
I feel like im the only one who didnt find the color grading "jarring". I have watched James Gunn's previous movies. So I know his style... I think everyone knows his style by now after Guardians and The Suicide Squad. James Gunn is the one to do a superman movie. Im not questioning it now after his previous films.
I've always said that DC is going to show out eventually. DC will have their time to shine
wait. So you're telling me that Pattinson isn't gonna be part of the new DCU?
Doing nothing would be destroying the MCU, they've made like 2 good things since infinity war and a whole lot of shite
I showed the trailer to one of my sisters. Who likes comic book films but doesn't read comics. She said 'I like the dog. I want to see it.' Given that the vast majority of cinemagoers will have never read a comic in their lives, if that hooks one of them, it's a start.
R.I.P Stanley
Dude made bitching and whining about she-hulk his whole personality now you gotta compare it to a 2min trailer with little to no dialogue lmfao
Eh, that’s a bit hyperbolic to say “exposed”. DC just did an old school superhero trailer.
We still don’t know what the final product will be.
Another great one!
Thank you!
a good and well-made super hero movie will of course attract comic book and super hero fans. but i will also attract it´s fair share of casual viewers who are not very deeply invested in such movies but who still love to be entertained by a good movie.
I don’t have a lot of faith in good movies nowadays, however this trailer is giving me hope…. What Superman was supposed to represent
I always knew DC would be back on top one day I just thought it would be with The Batman Saga. But I'm excited that it might be with Superman. That's a nice change of pace.
As a Pacific Rim lover, Thor 4, She Hulk and Agatha does not exist.
All I know is, I’m happy to be a DC fan again!
Hate him or love him. Gunn has always been able ro put characters and stories first which is something marvel and star wars have forgotten.
Look up. You'll find hope.
Lets. Fking. Go.
I thought it was Henry Cavil in the trailer 😅
No way ahahaha
This is going to be the best movie ever made!
1:33 DC is listening to the fans! 3:33 Most fans wanted a Cavill Superman but it’s ok, DC knows better.🙄
Marvel: We can do anything we want and the fans will like it!
DC: We're actually giving the fans what they want and they might like it.
Ahahaha exactly!
Hopefully, we'll get a good, entertaining superhero adventure story
We've reached a breaking point. These are the only movies that get made anymore, literally. We get no new movies and therefore no new movies stars. What happened to a good old fashioned drama? A suspense thriller? Just a movie? A regular ol movie with a compelling character and a story that says something as to the human experience? I'm not morning or complaining, maybe we just don't wanna watch movies or series anymore and real life media is what we actually want to see, which is fine by me.
As a superman hater, I really excited for the movie and can't wait
I thought Agatha had good ratings
can u be more blurred?
I'm a Marvel fan and I enjoyed She-Hulk. So you can't say it didn't appeal to their audience at all.
