  • After having this intakes sitting around for over a month, I finally had a warm enough day to get it installed! This is an all aluminum intake for a 99 to 04 GT Mustang and I installed it to my 2007 crown Vic P71. In this video I just go over some brief notes on installation in my thoughts on the intake. I will definitely be giving you folks a long term review on this intake as I continue to put miles on it.

    Did you have any fitment issues? Im putting one on my 07 p71 and it seems that a couple bolt holes are a little off. Along with that it seems to be touching the 2 tall 'bosses' in the valley. I can figure the bolt hole issues with some dremel work, that doesnt bother me. Main issue is the 2 tall things in the valley.

      I definitely had to tap and re-thread a few holes, but everything lined up with the exception of one bolt on the back of the intake Plenum. It installed like OEM other than that.

    Do you think I could do the same with an Edelbrock intake manifold?

    • @wjye
      @wjye  Год назад

      Edlebrock is very different. Not really a good choice for a stock engine as it’s a single plane intake. It also needs a special plenum or adapter to use the stock plenum in order to make it work. I believe it also needs different fuel rails too.

    Taking a stab in the dark here but do you think the typhoon would bolt onto a 2013 E150 4.6? Can’t find a oem one anywhere and can weld the back coolant hose area on the typhoon. Just wondering if anyone has some knowledge on swaps with van 4.6’s

    • @wjye

      I think the vans use the truck intake manifold. If that’s the case you can just get a nice used aluminum factory intake and call it a day. Certain year trucks came with aluminum intakes from the factory I believe.

      @@wjye so a 3" cowl and you get forward facing direct air flow, bonus MORE torque port the intake, change the cam specs to take advantage of extra low end torque but allow it to run out the backdoor 7k(+-). I'd even cut the intake open clean up all the casting open up them but not even a medium polish maybe allow the plenum to accept a 102mm tbody . See where you'd end up..
      If I wasn't coyote swapping, that's the route I was thinking 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @wjye
      @wjye  11 месяцев назад

      @@BRob1320 truck intake is definitely good for low end torque, but you start losing power after 4k RPMs. You could definitely tune it to take advantage of that, but from research PI intakes are just better at make power then the long runner truck intake is. Richard Holdner has a great video about those intakes.

      @@wjye nice! That’s gonna be a real torque monster! Not sure which way Im going yet, I started building mostly from the rear (Heinous control arms, 3.73’s, aluminum driveshaft with Metco driveshaft loop).
      I also have a True Trac diff sitting on the shelf with the Cobra 8.8 girdle but Im waiting on installing since I want to pull the entire rear axle housing to get it powder coated and get the Moser axles installed at the same time.
      Transmission Im looking to get my stock transmission rebuilt at Lentech in Richmond Hill ON (they specialize in building those 4 speed autos to handle high power #’s - can get a kit for around 2500$ to build the transmission to withstand 700hp, also they have a 900hp kit, etc). Likely go up to a 2200-2500 stall torque converter cause I still want to maintain drivability for cruising around. Like you, I plan on keeping the car all my life. It remains parked in a garage from October to late May and I only drive it when its sunny for probably 4-600kms per year.
      Engine wise rn I have a Marty tune for 87, 91 and 93 octane, stainless works catback with tailpipes, P71 airbox with a K&N filter and 80mm MAF, steeda underdrive pulleys, accel supercoils, C&L 80mm plenum (port matched and polished). 180° thermostat. And Im im the process of installing a 08 f150 5.4 75mm throttle body.
      Now Im still deciding whether Im going just mild cam and trick flow heads, possibly do new crank bearings, pistons and rods while Im there, or if Im doing that plus the adtr supercharger kit. Rn Im sitting at about 250 engine hp using the 30% factor (dynoed at 194 to the rear wheels).
      Goal is at least 300rwhp, but preferably about 450rwhp haha.
      Fun cars to drive though! Love them and easy enough to work on too. Especially compared to the modern day hunk of plastic with engine covers, etc lol…
