    Besides the slight increase in hp, the spacer improves vacuum line response which increases performance. Makes your engine breathe easier from combustion to vacuum.

    Installed on on my 07 TC. Yes it works! I also have the P71 intake tube and a K & N filter so they might be working in conjunction. It is noticeable around 2900 to 3500 rpm only. No dyno test but what I definitely feel is more torque!

      @@Alexrules237 My bad. You are correct. I have a different brand -- TAYLOR Helix "Power Tower Plus" -- however the instructions on the Taylor say the same -- numbers toward the throttle body.
      Perhaps this TBSpacer was installed backwards, which really confounds any claims of a performance increase of any kind.
      Comparing the Taylor spacer to the Spectre spacer, the Taylor spacer shows considerable differences in design and machining -- I would skip the Spectre product.

    Thanks for the clear, concise and informative video. I read through a snarky battle of the (listen to me, I know) minds in a similar install video where the guy decided to cut out the combs in the stock piece. In the exchange one guy who spoke from his experience held that cutting out the combs was wise and created more air while another guy, physics major, asserted that he did not know from experience but logic and reason and physics knowledge tells him that aside from the absurdity that the strategically designed combing was only reducing air, to the contrary he saw the piece as likely evening air flow and possibly speeding it up and why would Ford put it there for no reason. The experienced guy called him s communist and it escalated in to a bunch of experienced guys jumping on the physics guy cause well, I don't know. To me, the physics guy made a hell of a lot more sense, and grammatically his arguments were cleaner, but now I'm curious, cause nothing was conclusive, are the combs pointless and should be cut out? You didn't cut yours out. I feel like it obviously serves a purpose and should be left but a half dozen edubacation deniers thought otherwise. Believe all rednecks, lol or listen to captain soft hands?

      Cold Air Intakes and Throttle Body Spacers are pretty much useless on street-driven, fuel-injected engines.

      Raake or ADTR suspension/coilovers, they come with shocks, or just any oe shocks will work.. Engine mods, just build it all out man, expensive but fun..lol Do full bolt ons 1st, longtube headers n all, engine will handle 450rwhp if tuned right but for anymore you'll need Forged Internals, go with a 5.0L stroker kit if you want more than that, they take 800+hp so you'll be good..

    They do help throttle response but not much. Best to save your cash and get a good ported or larger throttle body all together. On tbi engines it made more of a difference because the injectors were in the tb just like having a carb. But hey, you could always tap it later for nitrous😈

    I don't understand how a throttle body spacer would help with air flow, wouldn't it just create a tiny bit more friction since the air has more surface area in the air intake tubing itself to get slowed down?

    • @cardinaloflannagancr8929
      @cardinaloflannagancr8929 5 лет назад +5

      They were really most effective with carbureted engines. However most of these for fuel injection are spiraled not simply a spacer. The idea is in causing the air to twist like in a tornado as it goes into the engine. Supposedly smoother as it turns down into the engine, somewhat increased air speed resulting in more efficient combustion.

    • @mcf3778
      @mcf3778 5 лет назад +2

      In the end it really adds nothing but a cool location to drill and tap for a boost gauge or nitrous jets if you like the ability to return to bone stock

    • @SlikLizrd
      @SlikLizrd 4 года назад

      @@cardinaloflannagancr8929 That's right, 'Rider -- the "spiral" that's ground into the O.D. of the Spacer is SUPPOSED to make the air "twist like in a tornado" -- but the laws of physics say it ain't possible. The thing adds a tiny bit of plenum volume, but it ain't worth the money and/or time.

      Your '97 Grand Marquis takes a different model of spacer, due to the difference in throttle actuation. The '97 has the throttle cable, the newer ones have the "drive-by-wire", such as shown in the video.

    • @SlikLizrd
      @SlikLizrd 4 года назад

      NO !! Your Grand Marquis engine takes 87 Octane -- only time to use Premium is if you've had the engine re-tuned for the octane increase. Back in the day, many wanna-be racers would fill up with HI-Octane fuel, thinking that it would "clean 'er out real good", and/or increase performance. It wasn't true then, and it ain't true now.
      The QUALITY of the fuel is as important as the octane rating -- buy FRESH gas from BUSY, name-brand gas stations to avoid water contamination. That cheap gas at the Mom&Pop station MAY be good, but it ain't worth getting stale gas and/or water in your fuel system.
