  • @jeffsloane8628
    @jeffsloane8628 3 года назад +3

    Love the video. Thumbs up, but have to provide another point of view. Modern engines are all about the tune. There is more power there than anywhere else. So I would propose this alternative path to better acceleration...
    1) Marty Tune on SCT from Mos' Speed shop. Tell him you are going to run a CIA, cat back exhaust and change your rear gearing.
    2) Cold Air intake. Be sure it is true cold air. (outside of underhood or at least where the intake filter is shielded from under hood radiant heat and has a path to draw air from outside) Remember air is 14X more important than fuel and each 7 degree increase in intake temp reduces output by 1 hp.
    3) Do the exhaust exactly as you say or spend the bucks for the Borla or Magniflow panther kits. Get rid of the 2nd set of cats and be sure to have an h or x pipe.
    4) Change the rear gears and while you are in there add some type of limited slip diff so you do not have a one tire fire.
    Bonus Mod - Underdrive pulleys. These are low cost and raise the entire TQ/HP curve. No tune required for this one.

    • @bstfordchannel923
      @bstfordchannel923  3 года назад

      1005 correct on tune. yeah that the part that is always left out.. people want to hear what THEY can do... The tuner does the other thing.. Thats why thereis disconnect of hotrodding cause of it. sad deal but you can even rev your motor underneath your hood

      I try to be honest as possible.. I weigh the pros and cons ( some times i rant ) but when it comes to performance and money being spent.. I like to be as on point as possible Daryle. People over spend and THINK they going to HP in something that was designed flawed for high hp. There are small thing ( combined ) can make it feel like it has more hp. o give that enjoyment desired is a huge a$$ car.. 4000-lbs car needs a the least 400hp and 400 tq to match to have the car to move and be enjoyed..

    Quick question, 2008 CVPI’s have acceleration times of around 6.6 seconds 0 to 60 and 2011 CVPI’s have acceleration times around 7.5 seconds 0 to 60, due to a less aggressive tune from the factory with the 2011’s. So that being said, if I tuned a 2008 and it gets a 6 second 0-60 from the tune, would that mean that my 2011 would be at 6 flat as well or would the 2011 be slower even if tuned because of the original tune being sloppy? Hey Wingnut,
    Quick question;
    Do you know how to deactivate the horn chirp when locking the car with the remote key fob?
    There's a procedure on page 76 in my owners manual for my 2004 Crown Vic, but my 2010 Grand Marquis fails to mention a procedure. I tried the procedure for the 2004, on the 2010 and it goes into programming mode because I get the lock/unlock confirmation. But I still can't deactivate the horn chirp, when locking the car with the remote key fob.
    I usually like the audible confirmation when locking up the car, but not when I come home at 3AM trying to be quiet. lol
    Worse case scenario, maybe I'll install take the WJ Handy Dad route, and install a bypass switch on the ground wire of the horn.

    I’ll have to disagree on the full exhaust system not being worth the hassle..the factory exhaust system is 2inches with a very restrictive manifold that barely reaches 1 3/4 inches at its widest (in the best manifold)..now you take the 1 3/4 primaries with headers feeding into 2 1/2 inches unrestricted straight back exhaust..the power you pick up will NOT disappoint you

      @bstfordchannel923  5 лет назад

      how much hp to the wheels a crown vic makes? the cost of a full exhaust is a lot.. headers cost a lot for these cars.. i figure if you just take the center section the exhaust and leave mufflers you will get a cheap increase.. 2.5 max even a 2 inch will do 2.5 exhaust is good for 200-250 hp vic do not need 3 inch exhaust in stock form I may explain deeper in a video. BST Ford Channel That’s what I loved about MotorTrend’s Roadkill show. That was essentially the essence of that show until it started getting a lot of traction and got a lot of sponsorship. Really started going south quick often they got sponsored by Dodge.

      We have VQ in the garage ... the issue is the cost to make run standalone... Now the other way we can do is use a harness from a 1996 Nissan maxima ( that would be the best thing ) Now we can eve find those cars in the yard... The standalone set-up with stock ecu ( aka theft delete or key delete ) around $1,500

    Your supposed to change the exhaust studs anyway. Its a heated part that gets stressed everyday. Quality parts like Arp studs will take care of this.
    Also the proper headers will effect horsepower tremendously. Its a v8 buddy this is how airflow works.
    If you can make the air come out faster and easier with clean resistant free bends you will make HP this coupled with a proper intake and throttle body will guarantee it.
    It sounds like those aftermarket parts were cheap and incorrect for that engine. But don't misinform the public.

    • @bstfordchannel923
      @bstfordchannel923  4 года назад +3

      true on all you mentioned headers for these cost 900 and hp gain maybe 10hp not good odds for 900 bucks for a whole catback system or just headers

      They do add hp but how much hp ( on a stock cam car ) pay 1,500 and up for headers and catback and your results are 10hp-15 hp not good odds.. and just maybe the studs will break now your in the hole just a bit ( the odds I am speaking on Mista )

      The base hp is the issue for the 4.6.. It was built to be efficiency.. Just think of a 1000hp Honda.. How much time and money STUDIES to get that to that point. Just cause its a v8 people think its a 302 or 351 or a Ls base motor... It has a very smooth hp climb.. You can not slap on bolts on and hope for the best..
