GE French Door Turbo cool - this video shows you 1. How to access codes. 2 Where the Code Definition sheet is stored 3. How to read the codes. VERY USEFUL
Really helped me troubleshoot why my fridge compartment was operating at higher than normal temps. I found one thermistor unclipped from the evaporator tubing and the upper fan was making the noises ever since I bought the unit and finally failed. Thank you! My papers were where you showed in the video however they gave the wrong instructions for entering the service mode, yours are correct for the "auto fill" fridge.
Thank you for posting the error codes sheet. I found my sheet but it DID NOT include a list of the error codes, just the diagnostic test codes. Even after search of the internet there's seemingly no place where these codes are listed, and I found that odd. Does GE want to hide these codes? Anyways, thank you also for shooting in 4k, because i was able screen capture 01:33 and save it in my files. FWIW, my fridge "FF" condenser fan went out and thus I had a hot (60°) main compartment with a freezing lower drawer. All the codes I had lead me to the fan being bad and nothing else. Quick shoping trip on Amazon and my fridge was back up and cooling within two days. Thanks!
And for side by side and maybe profile and french door. Basically if you have a display on your dispenser with temp display, you must press the temp + & - for both freezer and fresh food (so 4 buttons) all at the same time for 3 seconds. You must illuminate the display first, so just press a temp up or down, water filter button or any button to light it up, then press all four temp adjustment buttons and hold for 3 seconds. There will be 4 zeros on the display, maybe 2 zeros if you don't have double digit display. I then press any button to lock it into service mode so I don't feel rushed to input the test I want to run. I believe 16 is to exit service mode, but you can always unplug it then plug back in to reset.
Thank you for this. Do you know how to toggle between tests and execute them? I don't want to mess anything up before I try to reset my display control board since my autofill keeps giving me an error. Is it the freezer up/down for the "10"s place and the refrigerator up/down for the "01"s place?
Thanks for your help. Your video is the first to show the key sequence for an GE PFE28 with the AutoFill function button. All the other videos and website I have researched have the same Water/Cubed/Crushed button sequence.
@@ryanburdick8425 Did you watch the whole video? The FRIDGE button and the DOOR ALARM buttons allow you to scroll up and down. The LIGHT button to select that error. Press any other button to bring up any error codes.
Yes, great video! My GE refrigerator stopped making ice awhile ago. Now it’s giving me “replace water filter dispenser off” even though I just replaced the water filter. How do I get a list of those tests?
@@PartsDr Thanks for the reply! When I watched that the first time I didn’t realize there was paper under there!! I’ll look in the am! Subbed to your channel! In your professional opinion, do you think that most servicemen know to check the refrigerator with that tech sheet?? Because the two guys that I had out here, didn’t do that! Ugh
I don't see a link for how to remove middle drawer assembly? I have cafe model cve28dp2ns1 and the ice maker quirks when do test 99 but won't do it on its own? Can't find that test sheet anywhere.
The technical data sheet is found on top of the GE model GFE28GYNFS. It's hidden under the cover. Unscrew about 5 screws then look underneath. Alarm will sound until the cover is put back in place.
I had red triangle for months. Found this and pressed water, ice and crushed and got 00 00. I could go up to 6 at most. Not sure what I pushed, but now it says 06 10. Nothing is changing it or making it go away. Fridge and freezer work fine. Despenser has not worked since red triangle. I'm so confused!
I'm having the same issue. The control panel also refuses to work outside of the diagnostic settings. I get a deny sound with each press. The fridge also stopped cooling. I know it works, but it's like the fridge turned off and locked me outside.
Thanks for the video. How does one enter diag mode on a GE GNE29GYNBFS? This unit doesn't have a water dispenser. I noticed that there is a floating connector above the compressor area that has some labeled for testing. I am in the process of checking if the start relay is bad or not since the fridge is getting power (lights are on, condenser fan is on). I was hoping to take advantage of any diags on the motherboard if possible.
Thanks for the information. Ended up finding that the compressor for this GE (GNE29GYNBFS ) is dead. This GE last only 3 years. The repair guy said it would cost $1800+ to replace the compressor and it is 6 months warranty on the compressor. Ditching the GE and getting a new one from a different brand instead. Very disappointed with GE since this was replacing a 20+ year-old Jenn-Air. I guess GE Appliances being acquired by Haier didn't insure good quality. We also kept getting emails to buy extended warranty. Probably shows how confident GE is about the quality of their products.
my GE refrigerator door panel completely went blank , it still makes ice and gets cold , i just cant use the water or ice dispenser. i changed the the door module controller and it still not turning on , any ideas?
FZ evaporator thermistor tested -2 (when freezer is 38) slowly it moved value to 38. all the others immediately tested exact temp. probably should try a FZ evap thermistor for a warm freezer.
That is most likely normal for the evaporator thermistor since it is directly on the coil. You may have a problem with the automatic defrost cycle. You can try testing your temp sensors like we show here: ruclips.net/video/SBfqozNgLYY/видео.html
Gotta check mine tonight after work. My fresh food section is cool but not cold. Milk spoils fast i can feel at the front vent cold air but it's not blowing. So I'm thinking thermostat or bad fan
The tech sheets and list of functions varies by model. We show tech full sheet with the list of tests at 1:32, if you have your video set to HD resolution, you can read it on a computer monitor. We show where to locate the tech sheet at 0:23 in the video. If you can't find it, try contacting GE or a GE certified technician to see if they can get it for you.
For running this test mode, you disconnected the top center piece to retrieve the tech sheet. Does this piece need to be reconnected before proceeding to test mode?
@@ryguy2259 Check the fan motor make sure nothing is obstructing the motor from running. It can be a failure of the motor or the main control board that sends power to the motor or in some cases both parts are bad (the motor failed and caused the main control board to fail). We recommend replaces both parts at the same time to cover your bases.
There are 2 other codes as well that are not listed. 02 2o and 99 9d I read another person changed the refrigerator evap fan and it fixed their problem. I replaced the evap fan 3 years ago. When I just tested the evap fan it turned on but I feel it wasn't blowing that strong.
At 0:23 we show you where to locate the tech sheet on your refrigerator. We cannot share the document here because it is specific to each model of refrigerator.

GE doesn't specify, our guess is maybe it is motor speed or RPM?
