On these particular models also make sure to take off the fresh food fan duct… I noticed in the video you can see up into the duct when he is replacing the fan and if you will look closely there is a foam insulation lining the duct that becomes bubbles up from water freezing underneath it and those bubbles start to restrict air flow through the duct…my same exact fridge did this and I too at first replaced the fan but soon after the ice build up came back and once again the fresh food fan was grinding against ice build up… once I pulled the air duct off and scraped out the bubbled up foam lining the ice build up has not returned so far….so for what it’s worth make sure to check inside the duct too!!!!!
1. Thanks, that's nifty. I understand your target audience is fellow GE Auth'd Folk so nothing against you. 2. As a consumer I feel like the initial cost of the fridge was expensive enough. Its annoying that the fridge is broken and it knows exactly what the problem with itself is but refuses to tell me. (for lack of this device or an accessible document that describes diagnostic mode codes) Also it's annoying that they lock me in to their "Genuine GE" water filters at 2X the price. I am just a cash cow for them.
Amen Jeff!!! I am also a cash cow for GE! So frustrating! Burns me up, which sucks because, I can’t even get ice from my ice maker! I’m just on RUclips trying to find the exact problem. (Heavy sigh…)
I have this model I believe and I need into the door. How do i remove the white plastic inside door. I can not get where I need with removing the removable pieces.
I have the same GE Fridge, and i've had the hardest time with it not making ice or putting water out. Will this tool help with that problem. I've had various GE tech's onsite and no one has ever been able to fix it. I've verified that I have water at the wall, but once it gets to the fridge it was never worked. And advice?
How can I find the model and serial numbers the sticker inside the fresh food compartment is completely unreadable and has been mostly removed for whatever reason.
My fridges bottom fill with water and freezes and thaws and has ruined my floor. The guy comes and cleans the is out puts it back together and is out the door . He doesn’t stop it from leaking into the bottom .
I just became Ge authorized. My service power account went active about 3 weeks ago. Since then I’ve got exactly zero dispatches. I’ve contacted my customer care rep who referred me back to service power who stated my account is set up correctly. Anybody else struggling to get dispatches?
PLEASE HELP! Can you show how to determine if a motherboard has gone bad vs a compressor for a newer kitchen aid refrigerator! I’ve had one company cancel on me due to Covid another company came out sent one guy who diagnosed it with needing a new compressor fan in the whole works only to have the other guy show up to do repairs from the company who then says no I think it’s the motherboard. It’s been almost 4 months I’ve been waiting for repair and not one thing has been repaired yet because they keep changing the diagnosis extremely frustrated trying to see if at this point they’re even telling the truth or just keep stacking the ticket for warranty bill… The only problem was the icemaker stopped producing ice and keeping it cold in the freezer is not as cold as it should be it’s running about 6 degrees above freezing. Please help I’m desperate 😭 #repairmom
Hope you got the issue resolved finally. The problem with Whirlpool is that they don't do their warranty work. They use sub-contractors, many of which don't care about customer satisfaction and many of which don't know what they are doing, as you have seen. Instead of "guessing" and giving you the runaround, they should have just ordered ALL the parts that could possibly cause your issue. The parts are free to them from Whirlpool , so it's no skin off their backs. To me it sounds like you have an issue with the sealed system. Most likely a slow refrigerant leak. If that's the case, and they simply just charged the system up, you will have the problem again down the road. Most likely after the warranty is up, so make sure they find the leak and properly repair it or replace refrigerator. The worst problem with any refrigerator is a sealed system leak. Often they cannot be found because they are in a section of the tubing that runs through the insulation in the walls. Leaks are such a serious problem these days because many manufacturers use the thinnest gauge metals that they think they can get away with. The recycled metals used are of poor quality and often have impurities that cause leaking.
I appreciate you doing these Video's on SmartHQ but until they allow us Independent's to get them there's not much use in promoting them. Unless u know a secret. Are u Factory Auth G.E.
Why would I want to buy an overpriced new appliance that breaks every couple years & the manufacturer wont let me fix it? We consumers are such suckers.

Check for continuity at the water valve leads. Sometimes internals brake mechanically

What's your favorite brand of fridge? And does it have to be U.S.A made?

This is great if you can get one but as a consumer it isn't an option appearently.
