    Love my G20! I added trijicon HD night sights to mine. I use a Bravo Concealment holster that's allows me to carry it with a TRL-1 attached. I think this is a perfect set up for a woods gun. I do a lot of hiking and camping in Northern AZ and my G20 is always with me. Load up a couple spare mags with 180gr Buffalo Bore and I'm good to go.

      @Izzyrodthegod do you mean the .40 S&W caliber? 40mm is a grenade. If so then, yes. .40 S&W has really fallen out of favor recently but it’s still a good round. I just prefer other calibers like 9mm, .45acp, and 10mm for semiautos.

    Agreed on the causes of the Kabooms. But, a 40S&W Glock will show wear faster than a 9mm. Will it 'wear out' faster? Who knows. It'll easily go 50k before you need to replace any major parts and if you can shoot that many rounds than the cost to replace the gun is relatively nothing.

    • @TmanBlades
      @TmanBlades 4 года назад

      Short frame. Means it has a shorter trigger reach.

  • @wye4379
    @wye4379 11 лет назад +6

    Remember to change your OEM barrel to an aftermarket barrel (e.g., Lonewolf) if you are going to be shooting hard cast or lead bullets. More relevant if you are shooting the buffalo bore hard cast loads.

    • @Mowthelawn3
      @Mowthelawn3 Год назад

      Do they make those barrels for the short frame?

  • @Mrgunsngear
    @Mrgunsngear  11 лет назад +4

    10mm is best suited for longer barrels in my opinion. Look at chrono numbers in some 40 loads from a G23 and most 10mm loads from a G29---very similar.

  • @gunchief0811
    @gunchief0811 9 лет назад +1

    hey man, "question" do you think the glock21sf frame and slide can deal with the 10mm loads? i know storm lake and lonewolf make conversion barrels for the glock 21sf to fit the 10mm round and therfore make it into an instant glock20, but do u think that the 21 frame is good for those hot 10mm loads you mentioned like buffalo bore etc.? thanks man i appreciate what you do here on you tube keep em comin...

    I bought the Glock 40 MOS and then just bought the Glock 29 and Love these guns! Hitting a milk jug at 100yrds with the 40 with Holosun red dot is almost effortless 😜 Now I’m debating on buying the Glock 20 or maybe just the 20 slide to pop on my 40 lower . The 10mm is a great round and shoots well out of these guns

  • @samuel4zero

    Really great gun, especially for 15+1 rounds of the awesome 10mm in a semi auto for 5-600 like you said. Very hard to beat that. What kind of velocity do you get with say the underwood 155gr using that longer after market barrel? Thanks for the review as always.

    I've had a G29sf for years but just traded a Kimber in 10mm for a G20sf. I wasn't going to carry the Kimber any longer and I love the G29, but thought the longer grip and barrel/slide might make it a great choice with future plans of moving to Alaska.
    I dunno how many times I've watched this (any many others) video but you do a damn good job.

    The g20 was designed from the ground up to be a 10 mm handgun most other 10 mm handguns are designed from a 45 and converted to 10 mm which 45 pressures are way lower and could not handle the 10 mm loading

    • @Mrgunsngear
      @Mrgunsngear  10 лет назад

      I do think so. Not that it can't be mastered by a beginner but the potential for developing bad habits is very high. Especially in the compact version. The VAST majority of new shooters would be much better off using a 9mm handgun with quality defensive rounds for personal defense.

    My boyfriend wants either the Glock 20 10mm or the Glock 43 9mm for Christmas. Well actually I am sure he wants both, but that's not gonna happen. Which one do you think is a better gun?

    • @Mrgunsngear
      @Mrgunsngear  9 лет назад +9

      +Katie Gillis Neither is a better gun but unless he plans on hunting with the G20 I'd bet he'll use the G43 A LOT more. Ammo's cheaper and it's easier to carry. He should put a ring on you by the way!

    • @boxlid214
      @boxlid214 9 лет назад

      +Katie Gillis 9mm is cheaper ammo, but the 10mm is very very nice and a bunch of fun to shoot. It's not very costly to start handloading for the 10mm, just takes .40cal projectiles.

    I just moved to Alaska. Although this sounds like THE backcountry gun (I will be hiking, fishing, hunting quite a bit), I wonder if the added weight and recoil will be too much to have. I currently have a Glock 22 .40 and I'd imagine I would probably continue to bring that (only) to the range because of 10mm ammo cost and said weight/recoil. All that being said, if you moved to Alaska, would this be your daily outdoor driver? Appreciate your input! Great videos and new sub!

    Unqualifiedly Yes. I carry one in a safe packer "holster". I have a Viridian X5L on it and I have the slide milled to accept an RMR. You can also go with the G29 if you really want to shave ounces but you loose the full grip for like 3 oz of unloaded weight (of course if you put 5 more rounds in your 20 then there is extra weight there but...). FYI the Norwegian Sirius patrol uses them as a last line of defense against polar bears. Same-ish power and lighter than a big bore revolver...

    Thinking about getting a glock 20 or the new glock 40 MOS. I have heard different things though regarding being able to shoot Buffalo Bore out of a glock due to the barrel (some people are saying that glock barrels can't shoot certain types of rounds). What are your thoughts? I know there are several different loads from Buffalo Bore in 10mm, one of which goes up to 220 grain I think.

    • @stinkyfungus
      @stinkyfungus 9 лет назад

      The rounds in question are any unjacketed lead projectiles, the polygonal rifling of the glock barrel can be fouled by lead to the point of an overpressure failure. However, depending on the brinell hardness of BBs hardcast - it might be safe if hard enough. The brinell hardness of most hardcast lead is pretty close to the hardness of a copper jacket. or you can get a regular rifled aftermarket barrel and use it when shooting lead.

      It can be done, but it is dangerous, and not recommended. The 10mm headspaces on the edge of the case neck, so 40 smith is too short to headspace properly, it is actually held in place by the extractor. Not good.
      Spend 115 bucks and get an aftermarket barrel, it takes 5 seconds to install, and you can use the stock mags, and recoil spring. Easy peasy, safe, and reliable. Its how I run 40 in my G20.

    Don't forget you can convert a Kriss extension for the 10mm and have 32 rounds. The Arredando extensions are also good for 20+1.

    No sir, the 1006 was built to handle the most stout full power 10mm rounds on the market, such as the Norma's that were out at that time. They're very robust, reliable, and accurate, and have no problems handling the full pressure cartridges.

    This is the first I've heard of them dropping the Tenifer finish. Is this true? And how much difference is there?

    Being from the rockies, I wonder if a 10mm would be ideal for a grizz/black bear or mountain lion. Any thoughts?

    I really like your channel. I would love to see you address the differences in how your different g20's shoot. Accuracy, perceived recoil, etc.
