Nice install. Consider using Gel Filled Splice Crimp (GelCaps) on the cat 5/6 to CT clamp. Its the type of connector BT use to stop any moisture on the cable joints.
We have some of those and was planning on using them as I thought you had to 🤔 but the wago came with the charger so thought we would install them instead
Very nooice looking charger , the local toe rags in my area are now going to these home charger stations and cutting the plug leads off for the scrap wire and leaving the homeowner with a massive replacement bill , some people are even getting steel fabricated security boxes fitted to protect the unit..... Shitty times we live in eh Cheers guys... 👍
BG also have a socket version so the homeowner can remove the cable when not in use. The socket version has all the same features as the tethered version
Great video, Seen some comments about BG products, And justified imo, The ip 65 range is fantastic sockets switches brilliant, Consumer units are now decent and type a rcbos easily available, What let's BG down again imo is the quantity of its pull switches and basic accessories, The pull switches are quite but after 3 months fail, This is my honest view from a electrician with experience, 15th edition as an apprentice 😆
That’s a fair point I’ve not had much fair in fairness I think the bad name it gets is from people like handy men and builders picking up there fuseboards up dirt cheap from screwfix and throwing them in houses
Fitted one at start of week, happy enough only issue I seen is instructions don’t line up with unit, says 4 pole connector for tethered lead but it’s actually the same 3 pole one as supply cable, could easy mix up, and no mention of where to put the white cable (cp lead). My one didn’t have that other loose cable you had with the crimp on end.
Good looking charger with plenty of features. Does the manufacturer guarantee that the internal RCD is compliant, so an RCBO isn't required in the consumer unit?
Well if the circuit was burried in the wall we would need to rcbo it, we tested from the plug on the charger and it passed all the rcd tests so I guess it does my dude
Not convinced . Regardless of how the cable is routed. Yes it has a type A RCD internally, but it's type A doesn't comply with one of the following standards: BS EN 61008-1, BS EN 61009-1, BS EN 60947-2 or BS EN 62423 as per 722.531.3.101, it has protection in accordance with EN 62955 which is an RDC-DD , it would be better on a 2 pole type A
is it normal to install a charger on a 32a mcb in Britain? 7kw at 230 is 32a should it not be a 40a so you are not constantly running at the rated current of the breaker
@@JRCElectrical Have seen so many BG products fail over the years - shower switches burnt out and not due to loose connections, Poor quality light switches failing etc so would never fit them
@@Cumbrianbushcraft we have used there accessories for years and only had a few fail which would be expected with any brand, everyone has there own brand of materials they prefer to fit tho to be fair We have always been happy with the products

The number of issues I have had with BG Circuit breaker and RCBOs - would never fit anything from them - give it 6 months and wait for the phone call
That’s bad 😂😂😂 Jesus it must be all of about £6 to weigh in
Nice job Jack,
Cheers mate ❤️

See what I mean ? Build quality ?
Yeah the instructions were from an old model I think, there need updating and the video does online
So where did the black lead with white end go?

@@FFT_Electrical would you have fed the rcd with an rcbo then? Surely with selectivity it would trip both?
Looking good, did you guys go on a corse to get started with the EV stuff?
Yeah I have been on a course
Not that you need to its easy enough 😂

Depend on the cable used but 7kw at 230v is 30.4 amps 👍 7000/230
@@JRCElectrical here you need 20% more than the expected current so 7.4kw @ 230 is gonna be about 32a so it would have to go on a 40a rcbo
