Does that mounting bracket have to rear entry marked on it … or they made it some more guess work to get it all lined up… watched the same vid about the new model ,thought the same when I seen its packaged for install speed and first thing out the box was the front cover 😂
They have a hole in the bracket for the rear entry, the bracket is completely unnecessary if I’m honest, it is absolutely not quicker than the old charger, packaging … 😂😂
I think the 3.0 updates were mainly needed to get increased functionality in talking to the grid, enabling their deal with Octopus. Apparently the charger is going to be compatible with their intelligent tariffs from q3 2024, and 2.0 is going to take until late q4 2024 before it’s can support Octopus’ tariffs. Also I understand Octopus have additional requirements for talking to the grid to understand local grid demand, which is not beneficial to the customer other than being a requirement for Octopus’ to bring hypervolt into the fold as a company. I imagine that’s why the 3.0 was needed. In terms of added benefit to the end user/installer, agree there’s no real difference
My neighbour just got an Ohme charger fitted and the installer was a right miserable sod, the homeowner asked to have it installed on the front wall of his house in the front garden because with his car being a BYD the charger is near the driver's door, the sparky said No you can only have 5mtrs of mains cable from the meter box (which is mounted outside the property) so the charger is mounted right next to the front door (the driveway isn't wide enough to drive the car up the drive to get close because the charge lead on his charger is only 3 metres long so to charge the car up he has to park on the street that runs parallel to his against the drive way wall climb out the passenger side go around onto his drive lean over his drive wall and plug his car in to charge it up, I think he only allowed him 5mtrs because that was probably the length of the CT clamp lead.
The CT on the Ohme is like 50mm long so it’s not that, you have to join into the CT, the chances are your neighbour got a ‘basic install’ done and the price included 5m of cable, sounds like a miserable experience

It might be worth the extra cost just for the hopefully improved internet connectivity though, or were you just lucky on the day
I can only imagine how much certain people get paid, not sure, I am installing another one next week so I will let you know how that one goes
If they upgraded the Wifi chip from for example Wifi 5 to Wifi 6, then that would improve the range.
i've never in my life ever bought anything just under the word of someone else unless i know them personally... i want to use the tool/item/appliance myself before i buy anything.. if i cannot, i go elsewhere.. i especially dont buy things that are the market fad and absolutely everyone is pushing i prefer to, again try it myself so i can give my honest word about its quality. case and point i used to use cordless tools built by a company that uses alot of red that starts with M.. i binned my entire set after i went though 5 batteries in 2 years 2 of the batteries were replacements themselves and not knockoffs i bought them straight from the local authorised dealer.. the dealer tried to get most replaced but the main office refused to warranty them.. the dealer was brilliant they are great people they themselves was willing to eat the cost and replace 3 of the batteries out of there own pocket i refused as i dont see why they should pay so i bought an entirely new replacement set from a different brand they sell. wonderful people at that shop so they keep me as a customer i just wont buy tools when the brand themselves wont stand by there own tools..
