    Nice One Jack. I explained 'the ring circuit' to my Australian apprentices several years ago. They looked at me in disbelief . . .

    R1r2 readings should always be done with the earth cable taken out of earth bar because of parallel paths will give you false readings 👍

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  4 месяца назад

      I don’t think it does, as your just testing to the live of that circuit, I could be wrong tho I no if you take ze you have to have earth disconnected to reduce parallel paths

    • @user-vp7oj2rv2l
      @user-vp7oj2rv2l 4 месяца назад +2

      @@JRCElectrical you definitely should take the earth out the earth bar and connect to the live to prove continuity, you will get false readings from all the other circuits and bonding conductors
      Top video by the way 👍

      Main electrical did a vid about it last week ish , and showed a circuit which gave a perfectly good r1 r2 with connected then disconnected and found to be a broken cpc, was picking up the r2 from boiler due to bonding

    • @aryanelectrical
      @aryanelectrical 4 месяца назад

      Yes but your only removing a parallel path before the final circuit. The removal of cpc at final will minimise risk of detecting a suitable parallel path at end of final giving a false security you have r1 + r2 Jack @@JRCElectrical

    a quick eyh up.. this is shed building season.. i know you've covered the work and what not. feel free to do another resfresher on outside electits, especially the law aspect. what the consumer/tenant can legally do, but also what they shouldn't do if they are stupid enought to try// advise them on safety and rumours.. i.e: "if i wear rubber shoes, i'm safe from holding mains live as volts isn't reaching ground" - "ok.. but dont trip over, or touch anything, at all. not even the thing you're connecting to." i mean, dispel the myths/crud and and kinda stuff. please. :)

    Hi just a quick question can you run a new TV off the lighting cct if so does it need a fixed fuse spur at 3 amps 👍love your videos

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  3 месяца назад +1

      I would say so if marked up properly so that nothing else will be plugged in

    • @alandobson5532

      Does it need a fixed fuse spur or just direct from the lighting feed it's for a flat screen TV with bad access.. Sorry to pester you.. 🙄

    The On/Off on those old meters freak me out every time. You turn it off, take the cover off, and then it looks like it's on again. Did it with my old Wylex when I was swapping it out.

    Interesting, does the BG SPD not need an MCB then? Makes it a bit easier for retrofitting if it doesn't.

    • @JRCElectrical
      @JRCElectrical  4 месяца назад +2

      Yeah makes it a lot easier, doesn’t need mcb anymore I did up until recently but they changed it to single mod from the mains

      @JRCElectrical I haven't fit a bg board for ages. Still good to know they've got rid of the mcb aspect of it. How did you find out? Have the mi's been amended?

      Not if just one socket was added at the time, never really thought about that tho to be fair and I suppose your right, boiler circuits are nearly always a radial but not really sockets on red and black thinking about it
