I was Ken's teacher in 8th grade, and sometime his videos pop up on my feed now and again. It's a nice surprise. Way to represent Philly. Also, hi Ken!
Aside from Dumpweed, UP AND GO is one of the BEST intro songs to a Pop Punk record. Both (to me) just instantly GRABS you and gets you settled in for the whole record.

Way too glossy/overproduced for my taste. But I guess that’s what you guys were used to since they are an early 2000s band and EVERYTHING became slickly produced by then. I’ll take my less produced 90s bands instead. I was just checking this out because I just watched kenny doing a decent job singing a song for jon bunch’s 2016 tribute at the yost theater (sensefield), and was curious to check out his stuff. It’s not bad stuff, but the song writing/sound is not anything to write home about (I won’t be saving it to listen to again later).
My best friend died a few days ago, our favorite pop punk band was the starting line. I swear this was a gift from him. “Surprise Surprise” was what we jammed to constantly. Hopefully a tour in the future? One would hope, right! 😎
Sorry about your best friend man 😞 that is heartbreaking, sending love to you and them…my best friend showed me the starting line and I just sent this to him before reading comments. This is such an amazing set
These guys take me back to a special place that activates my dna from a specific time period in my life that’s so significant it can’t be overstated the positive impact this band has had on me.
I think Kenny's voice has aged awesome. We all get older and lose that youthful edge to the vocals but he sounds great. In some ways I prefer his voice now. This was a great, tight set. Hope I can catch TSL on tour sooner than later!
Even though I listened to all these songs when they came out I am taken back at how I am honestly just now realizing how good they are. Their musicianship is really top notch. Never a boring or dull moment in their changes during the songs. They are criminally underrated. They deserve it all.
I used to listen to this back when I was in college in Philly. My girlfriend visited me during the summers but had to go back to Spain every August. I'd have this blasting on the old Volvo 240 DL and just wish with all my might that she could stay or I could go with her. We'd sing along to it, although it was mostly me singing to be honest. And yet, more than two decades later, I'm now also a Spanish national and my now-wife sings along with me to these songs just as much, as our two oldest daughters (7 and 5) do their best to sing along as well, with the third (15 months) surely thinking we're insane. Some day we'll all make it back to Philly. That Volvo probably now has 600,000 miles on it and is still going strong.
If there is a heaven I think mine will be all the early Drive Thru bands playing non-stop. These guys are still rocking it sound just as good now, thanks for doing this!
If theres even a chance of Kenny seeing this, we all love you forever man. Such an amazing voice now and then and just an amazing front man from such a young age. Saw you guys in like 99 at a tiny venue and have been a fan since.
We knew a guy in high school named Greg. Every time we saw him we'd be like... "uh oh, it's your last day, buddy..." He never knew what we were talking about and now I feel bad.
This is so insanely good I haven't stopped listening since I found it 3 days ago. Around 02 or so, I was teaching a drum student these songs on Long Island. I became hooked on SILYMI. But my copy was a copy of a copy. As soon as I heard how clean these recordings were, speechless. This band was so different and so underrated. And in many ways THESE versions are better. More mature and tighter performance. Not easy music either. This is challenging and the energy has to be brought. Tom is ridiculous. He hasn't lost a step, and if anything this is the best version of his playing. LOVE this. Kenny hits almost everything, which in and of itself is impressive, but on top of that he adds stuff here and there and just has a confidence that your front man has to have, and that sets the stage for everyone. There's no way this is as good as it is without Kenny's vibe. Overall, best thing I've heard in 2024 by far.
I’ll never forget seeing these guys with rx bandits at a pizza place no stage and was in the pit with Kenny while rx was playing he was going nuts taught me how to pit dive to get to the front row 🤣
"Best music to have ever been heard" Pretty hyperbolic statement there my guy... but yeah I mean the nostalgic is strong here. Pretty good stuff I guess.
If you were searching for your youth, you found it! I miss this music and how much I was obsessed with being the most romantic emo kid ever lol may our youth live on and we never get old!! ✨🔥🤘🏽🖤
I’m supposed to be cleaning my shed late night right now and was looking for something to listen to in the background and found this but I can’t stop watching 12:51 been sitting here just watching lol
Damn he’s almost 40 still killin’ it. I googled it. He’s currently 38. That’s crazy. I remember discovering these guys when I was like 10 years old. (I’m 28 now)
This is amazing. I feel instantly sad for the crap that kids listen to these days. We had it the best! 90s 2000s punk and rock made my childhood and teens
Oh man, these guys have matured like a fine wine. It was so fun to grow up with them, only to see them so grateful and happy as adults. Full circle good vibes.
I was listening to these guys when I was in 3rd grade. Now I’m 29 now I’m a musician myself. These guys helped lay early foundation for me, and my two brothers as well as other bands I grew up with. 2000s era pop-punk can never be replaced in my heart.
Kenny has always been my hero, and seeing him here killing it reminded me that I'm OK. That's awesome. I'm in my 30s and still getting inspired by my champions
I just saw them this past week in Nashville and they sounded so good. I waited 20 years to see them again and it was incredible. Love this music so much!
That music video where the boy was holding a boombox outside a house to get the attention of the girl is my introduction to the band. I consider it one of the 'best of me' memories .
Amazing to hear these guys play again. It's crazy how good they sound even after not playing together for so long and not playing some of these songs since originally recording.
I will never forget at warp tour at the gorge in WA, when Kenny pointed out the girl responsible for Surprise, Surprise was in the audience. (She was from the Seattle Area and he called her out for cheating on him) boss move!
I've been a fan of these guys since they came out (back when I was in high school), but what amazes me years later is just how good their songs are, and how they've kept the original line up together and still have a great sound. They still bring an energy that they enjoy playing together. No washed up vibes at all like some of their contemporaries that are still around and playing from their era. Just great music!
Got to chill with you guys after a show in Albany NY with Fall out Boy, you were super friendly, I got a tour of your bus and we walked, talked and got burritos at Bombers. I think it was someone's b-day possibly Toms. Sounds like a dream date from a 2000's movie with Kenny but it was real lol still have my VIP pass.
Damn...I barely had pubes when I first heard these guys, and now here I am almost 40, wife and two kids. Thx for continuing to be part of the fabric of my existence ❤
Damn YT. I keep trying to write a post congratulating you on finishing growing in that “curly hair“ of yours, but they won’t let me post it when I write the actual P-word. 😂

ahhhh Drive-Thru Records at their peak... miss those days

"Up and Go" is one of the top 10 all-time best pop punk songs ever. At least to me it is. God, I absolutely LOVE that song SO MUCH!
What would make you stay!!!! Soo good
That and Leaving. Oh man. Love those so much.
Aside from Dumpweed, UP AND GO is one of the BEST intro songs to a Pop Punk record. Both (to me) just instantly GRABS you and gets you settled in for the whole record.
Accurate. If a pop punk song can give chills this one does. This version is so clean. Makes my year to hear these songs again.

Gotta give Kenny credit, this guy still has the same youthful energy he had 20 years ago even though he is almost 40 now.
Because “almost 40” is old? Damn. I’m 47. Guess I need to start making funeral arrangements.
kenny is almost 40 now? wtf
Jared Leto was like 40 when 30 Seconds to Mars cracked the mainstream with The Kill :D
He got older, but he's still young. He'll never grow out of this feeling that he won't give up.

After more than 15 years, I will still bump this entire album from front to back. Truly one of the great pop punk albums of the period.
I will still play it on my boat while wakeboarding! YEWWWWW
Which album? They said they had to memorize their entire discography for this.
Jesus Christ they OBVIOUSLY slayed this set, but can we just give kudos to the sound engineer. DAMN this is clean.
Studio 4 is Will Yip's studio i think. He recorded all of Movements albums and loads of iconic emo/post hardcore bands.
@@ThatBlindGuy247he did Citizen and Circa Survive too
Another good one is panda studios “the waiting room”.

Bro YES. How did I just stumble on this? I love seeing the band back together.

This band defined my first year of college. So many feelings are coming back.
I love this guy's voice. One of my favourite in 30 years of listening to hundreds of punk bands.
They're newer but check out arms length. Both guys have awesome voices.
POP PUNK you turkey. But yeah Kenny is the shit.
My best friend died a few days ago, our favorite pop punk band was the starting line.
I swear this was a gift from him.

Definitely a gift from your buddy dude
Seeing them in Tahoe next week!
It always drove me nuts how he holds the drumsticks like half way up the stick like that. It works for him, I'm impressed!
These guys take me back to a special place that activates my dna from a specific time period in my life that’s so significant it can’t be overstated the positive impact this band has had on me.

The Starting Line and Will Yip laying down better cuts of these songs than on their records.
