18 years since my high school graduation, 2005. Now I’m 36, married with 3 kids. Life is beautiful. Just like TSL and this album. If I could talk to my 18 year old self, I would say keep grinding, and continue guarding your heart, your love and life will be filled sooner than you think.
I graduated in 2005 too! 36 but no wife and kids just yet. Listened to this album so much that year when it was released and I would give my 18 year old self the same advice! Well said!
This live session is so insanely good, it sounds awesome..gives me goosebumps. I’ve seen you guys live a few times, but would be a dream come true to see you guys playing a show in my home country Brazil. Sending much love to you all! 🫶🏻🤘🏻

Great composition, great arrangement, great storytelling, real and emotive, and connected to a time that was formative for so many people, one of the better groups to come out of that time period which is why they are still relevant and why their music is timeless for so many people.
Convinced my parents to purchase this album upon its release from Best Buy when I was 14... As I matured early, growing up in a small town, this album perfectly encapsulated my "coming of age" angst. So glad they were able to do this reunion as it was a real treat! I agree with so many of you that this album is timeless, and I hope all the love TSL received from this will inspire them to do a nation wide tour... Much love to all those listening in 2024 and beyond🎉
First time I ever skipped class was to buy this album from FYE. While everyone was buying Weezer's Make Believe, I snagged this album. Fond memories of this album.
This is the distance between point A and point B The self-completion meeting the goal we've exceed And it's the best thing to ever enter my life After all this time, I'm still taken by surprise Every time that a stranger calls my name For a picture to take, it happens every day Will there be a picture left to snap Or will my face just detach itself And get caught up in the public eye? Let it take mine It feels just like It feels just like making love to the camera It feels just like It feels just like making love, making love If what goes on here doesn't stay in this room We're gonna spread the word to leaving room to grow And if we blossom trees I swear I'll still be the same as I was as a seed And if these branches hold a leaf They'll hold convictions I believe This is the beginning of something Too strong to break now It feels just like It feels just like making love to the camera It feels just like It feels just like making love, making love It felt just like It felt just like making love to the camera It felt just like It felt just like making love, making love
I remember at Warped Tour 2005 in Cleveland, Kenny goes "Alright, so aside from like the Beatles and all that legendary shit... we wrote the greatest song of all time" and preceded to play 'Ready'. After their show, I went straight to the merch tent and bought BOATS. By far one of my all time favorite albums, and Ready still slaps to this day.
I hold this record in high regard. I agree with Kenny...this album does have a timelessness to it. Good god damn this performance was incredible. Y'all are taking great care of yourselves.
When this album came out me and all my friends had always been die hard starting line fans. But people didn’t like this album. It never made sense to me because its incredible. So many incredible songs and lyrics.
I think it was a little bit darker than the EP and first album, so there was a little bit of a Pinkerton-esque backlash among some of the fans who were looking to hear more of the same, and even though I did love it when it came out I remember thinking concept albums in general were pretentious and kinda douche-y, and I lumped this album in with those. But it's objectively great, one of the small handful of pop-punk albums from that era that doesn't really sound dated at all
This album makes me feel something no other ever can. This album was well ahead of it's time, I remember seeing TSL in London when Anberlin and the Early November supported them shortly after this came out. WHAT A RECORD.
I got the geffen demos off IRC the notepad said a member from the prize fight took it from the back pocket of one of the TSL band members who was passed out at a party. The geffen demos are to date my fav TSL album along with the Make yourself at home EP and with hopes of starting over
So glad I found this. I’m from the U.K. my second gig ever was a TSL show in Brighton, U.K. in September 2005. BOATS is my favourite TSL record so this is a treat!
This album is perfect, the artistic license music gives me a very good and intense feeling. I love this band, I wish you all the best, Brazil loves you
Although that producer’s story was short, it really hit home. I’ve heard TSL talk about their awful experience with labels, and back in my younger years (and around the same time) I had a band that went through similar shit. We made an album we were proud of, great producer… But right at the finish line (pun intended) the record label came in and changed a million things… They couldn’t even make any criticisms on the album without mentioning the commercial successes at the time. “It should be more like fall out boy” or “it should be more like panic at the disco.” They just wanted to shape the album to be another cash grab for what was trending, that’s it. And obviously that wasn’t a shocker to us, but it put so much pressure on everyone involved to a point where we just started to resent the project, and shortly after everything fell apart. Obviously TSL survived and is probably better for it, because IMO, every album got better and better. Maybe the older albums have more nostalgia… But I think their albums got more mature and sophisticated as their fan base grew up, which IMO is much harder to do. That’s why I don’t care to listen to bands like Blink182 anymore… The new stuff just sounds like they’re trying to hold onto their youth. Maybe that’s cool for some diehard fans, but I struggle with 50 year olds singing about girls at the punk rock show. TSL/Kenny on the other hand was already writing about their on going experiences one album after it happened. It’s that maturity that makes me come back to these albums, not just the nostalgia. And Kenny seemed to know what we would want better than we did. Songs like “somebody’s gonna miss us” literally talk about how he wasn’t going to keep writing the same stuff over and over, and we will appreciate “the new direction” sooner than later. And he was right.
I still know every word of every song. I’m having such major flash backs to my junior/senior years of high school (class of 04). And now here I am streaming this on our tv for my 1.5 and 3 year old music obsessed toddlers. High school me would be wondering if I ended up with the guy who made me love this band. I didn’t. 😉 love you Starting Line, sincerely a longtime fan
I’m a fan since 2008 literally from the other side of the world, without anyone who can relate to my music.. Now I’m in US and having this unrealized dream of seeing this band 🥲
i always felt that way too. a lot of the themes and lyrics feel like it has to do with the entertainment industry and a critique of it all. maybe it’s not but glad i’m not the only one who thought that

It was kind of jarring to hear them shit all over The World. I always dug that song, had a little bit of a vibe that Switchfoot did on Nothing As Sound, but it never seemed out of place or anything on the record.

Class of 06 and 34 but this is beautiful advice.
I’m right there with y’all, 07 34.. started school late. The wrinkles are starting to show up on us now.. But! I like this!!
I graduated in 2005 too! 36 but no wife and kids just yet. Listened to this album so much that year when it was released and I would give my 18 year old self the same advice! Well said!
What if your love, life and heart isn't filled if you keep grinding? I'm not being facetious, honestly....
I too am 36, 3 kids, class of 05. TSL will always b a band that defined my teens and into my 20s. Cheers dude
This is one of the most underrated albums of all time. Timeless.

Every song this band wrote was so god damn catchy lol like not just the singles, the entire album
First time I ever skipped class was to buy this album from FYE. While everyone was buying Weezer's Make Believe, I snagged this album. Fond memories of this album.
I have such strong memories attached to this record. I don't know why. I'm definitely 17 again listening to this.
Was 15 yrs old when I first heard these guys solid group of dudes. 38 now
This is the distance between point A and point B
The self-completion meeting the goal we've exceed
And it's the best thing to ever enter my life
After all this time, I'm still taken by surprise
Every time that a stranger calls my name
For a picture to take, it happens every day
Will there be a picture left to snap
Or will my face just detach itself
And get caught up in the public eye?
Let it take mine
It feels just like
It feels just like making love to the camera
It feels just like
It feels just like making love, making love
If what goes on here doesn't stay in this room
We're gonna spread the word to leaving room to grow
And if we blossom trees
I swear I'll still be the same as I was as a seed
And if these branches hold a leaf
They'll hold convictions
I believe
This is the beginning of something
Too strong to break now
It feels just like
It feels just like making love to the camera
It feels just like
It feels just like making love, making love
It felt just like
It felt just like making love to the camera
It felt just like
It felt just like making love, making love
My personal Top 3 (I refuse to put them in any particular order though): The Starting Line, New Found Glory, and Blink 182
Top 5: TSL, NFG, Blink, Something Corporate, and Yellowcard.
The holy Trinity
Thats also my top 3 list, i wish sugarcult had more songs in liked i could see them almost making a list for me
I remember at Warped Tour 2005 in Cleveland, Kenny goes "Alright, so aside from like the Beatles and all that legendary shit... we wrote the greatest song of all time" and preceded to play 'Ready'. I hold this record in high regard. I agree with Kenny...this album does have a timelessness to it. Good god damn this performance was incredible. Y'all are taking great care of yourselves.

Probably the only live version of Cut!Print It, what a banger. Well all of this live is truly awesome...
The album is perfection from start to end. I was just going into high school.
jacked this album from Walmart in '08 and haven't stopped bumping it. This livestream was immaculate.
This album makes me feel something no other ever can. This album was well ahead of it's time, I remember seeing TSL in London when Anberlin and the Early November supported them shortly after this came out. WHAT A RECORD.
Was this at The Astoria 2? I seem to remember ruffling Kennys hair at some point during that gig
@@Danathon80 it was! During Kenny’s long straight hair era.
I got the geffen demos off IRC the notepad said a member from the prize fight took it from the back pocket of one of the TSL band members who was passed out at a party. The geffen demos are to date my fav TSL album along with the Make yourself at home EP and with hopes of starting over
Best band ever

The guitars on these recordings live sound incredible
Takes me right back to ending high school and starting college! One of my favorite albums!
I still know every word of every song. I’m having such major flash backs to my junior/senior years of high school (class of 04). I for sure heard them play this album in Philly when I was like 17 around 2005. I guess they don't remember but I do, I do..
Yea I can’t imagine them just not touring it ..? Idk.
I’m a fan since 2008 literally from the other side of the world, without anyone who can relate to my music.. Now I’m in US and having this unrealized dream of seeing this band 🥲
Love how much Kenny is enjoying Artistic licence. The whole set is banging!
Man did they crush that guitar tone. Sooooo good...
The mix is gorgeous.
I like the song the word, it's how I found out about this band, it was on burnout revenge
Literally gave me chills as soon as making love to the camera started...and just like that it was 2009 again
20:50 might be the best part of the video

“This goes out to Oso Oso”
Me at 12 and me now at 31: 🥹
I have always thought this album was a concept album of some sort, or at least lyrically.
i always felt that way too. a lot of the themes and lyrics feel like it has to do with the entertainment industry and a critique of it all. maybe it’s not but glad i’m not the only one who thought that
Take another hundred names and put 'em on a list
And curse yourself forever watching it
I'm looking to have to see it to the end
'cause the fastest rat is always gonna win
You've gotta know to hustle to make it in this town
'cause competition stiffens every night
Take another hundred and put 'em in your hand
Present the prize and not the ambulance
You've got a certain spar
You've got to show it off
What are you waiting for?
They've been expecting you
I've got the brightest spar
So nothing blow it out
What are you waiting for?
They've been expecting your call
She walks on red carpet all the time
In my eyes
Others will stop at her clothes
Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk
Because you've given them just what they want
Harder than a drama
Softer than a porn
Oh come and fill the purse a little more
You've got something special
Put it on the air
Humiliation pays well by the chair
You've got a certain spar
You've got to show it off
What are you waiting for?
They've been expecting you
What are you waiting for?
They've been expecting your call
She walks on red carpet all the time
In my eyes
Others will stop at her clothes
Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk
Because she's given them just what they want
Given them just what they want
Yeah, you've given them just what they want
He'll do most anything
You'll do most anything for the camera
A meal for a wedding ring
A bow for embarrassing yourself
Keep that camera rolling, baby
What are you waiting for?
'cause we've been waiting for you
Oh, what are you waiting for?
They've been expecting your call
She walks on red carpet all the time
In my eyes, in my eyes
Others will stop at her clothes
Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk
Because you've given them just what they want
I actually like The World haha I feel attacked by Kenny
I don't know why they cut the Bedroom Talk to short.
He kind of mentioned it at the end of the Set. But imagine how cringe it is to go back to songs like that about losing your virginity.... lol
"Hey there love, let's get to catching up.
'Cause I been thinking those thoughts
that must have slipped my mind
that time that I left you there that night."
I replied, "Let me remind you of the guy
you failed to mention all along.
'Cause your actions have consequences and these are them."
I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you.
And I probably always will.
I can't afford to make another mistake like this,
'Cause this is more than I can take.
I don't mean to leave angry, this is by your own devise.
I'm sure this comes as no surprise.
Hey there babe, don't mean to cut you off,
but I've heard enough lies and you're dying to get caught.
I'll let you go call all your friends.
"Oh my god! Let me describe to you this guy,
his name is Ken, he's in this band that writes such,
awful songs about me all the time."
You're goddamn right!
I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you.
And I probably always will.
I can't afford to make another mistake like this,
'Cause this is more than I can take.
I don't mean to leave angry, this is by your own devise.
I'm sure this comes as no surprise.
Fine, just let me lie here for a while,
'Cause I'll be staying up, yeah hanging up all night.
Oh, I'm spent with all intentions (of your bit?).
To a hopeless case, to a sharp headache, to a choice you make
To the reason why I, to the reason why I say.
I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you.
And I probably always will.
I can't afford to make another mistake like you.
I'm sure this comes as no surprise.
I'm sure this comes as no surprise.
Surprise, surprise.
The fact he feels he needs to apologize for bedroom talk is sad.
It was kind of jarring to hear them shit all over The World. I always dug that song, had a little bit of a vibe that Switchfoot did on Nothing As Sound, but it never seemed out of place or anything on the record.
American Idol's version of The World was awful!! 😭😭
B-List is just a phenomenal song! Looking foward to seeing you guys in Philly at The Mann! See you soon!
Fuck, I LOVE THIS ALBUM!
