I love the guitarists screams. So clean
That's because he doesn't have his hands all over the front of the mic.
i really hope you realize that it doesn't make that much of a difference. just amplifies the sound the way he's holding it. plus depending on the mic it really does not matter. it's just him as a vocalist. but i understand the overall concept you're trying to insult and that is an entirely different method of holding the mic. but hey who am i to say anything. you clearly just don't like the way the lead vocalist sounds. and that's perfectly okay.
+skeye teyen Obviously you have no experience with sound engineering. Cupping the mic does not amplify the sound. It does however, create feedback (loud, screeching noises) that is very unpleasant to the listener. You won't hear it in the video, but you will notice that it sounds like he's talking out of a tin can whenever he cups it. He does sound better when he has his hands off of the mic. Listen to the other guy scream, then the main guy. You will hear a BIG difference in sound quality. And that is simply because the other guy has his hands off of the mic. Ask any sound engineer and they will all say the same thing. It's not a method, it's ignorance.
It makes feedback if you have a shitty mic yes. I'm a vocalist and I've owned shitty mics I'm pretty sure i know a decent amount of sound engineering and the way he is holding it isn't cupping enough to make it sound as bad as you claim. I do however understand the comparison and I've seen defeater live he sounds the same. Holding it by the rim of the mic and cupping are two different things. I've seen dude do both
It doesn't matter if you have a shitty mic or not. If it's omnidirectional, it will create feedback if you cover the front of the mic. And he pretty much has his whole hand on the front. He's dampening the sound that way. It's like putting a hand towel over it. And it doesn't ever sound good... Ever.
I still come back to watch this.... The drummer is outstanding. This is my favourite band
Empty Days & Sleepless Nights is a classic album imo. Perfectly executed.
the story is so haunting I listen to it almost every day still. The ending of White Oak Doors still gives me chills
I just came back to this video to watch it again and saw this comment again and cannot tell you how much I agree with this. Over a decade later and that album is still an undeniably classic album
Very, very good band. Glad they are still doing their thing. Remember when they first popped up on B9 board. Miss the early 00s and that message board a lot. Nothing comes close to that place these days.
What a consistent band...Saw them open up for La Dispute back in 2005. It was fucking legendary. The drummer is always the funnest to watch man. God bless Audiotree.
Sounds like a great show
0:31 Brothers
7:49 Dear Father
13:50 Bastards
17:00 Dead Set
21:37 No Savior
What a definition of perfection. Just everything. This band is everything.
they sound awesome. hope to catch them live one day. that would be awesome
will always be a favorite band. some nice dudes in the band with great albums and stories in each of them
Claudia C. You realize these guys ripped off At the Drive-in right?
definitely one of the best live sessions ever.
I saw these guys a couple of weeks ago. Amazing live energy.
Would love to hear more from the guitarist, he nails his screams so fkn well, sounds like the studio recording!
look up Death Of A Nation his new band with the original defeater drummer and the singer from Verse. Rad stuff.
Bastards is a classic, and that drummer man... he doesn't miss.
i just stumbled on this band for the first time.. yall are the shit!!!!!!!!!
The drumming on dear father love it.
Thank you.
A+ I will always love defeater
Audiotree in podcast form would be great
this drummer has mad, crisp style
His work on the snare is a big part of Defeater’s sound IMO
4:32 always gives me goosebumps. On the record and here too.
AMAZING!!!
Never knew Paul Rudd drummed for Defeater. Rad!
Bryan Kral oh wow
that's why in antman 2 ......... .
It's actually his younger brother Todd Rudd
DUDE THAT BALMORHEA SHIRT!!!! cool to see one of my favorite bands wearing merch from other favorite bands of way different genres.
Well is different but stil in the post-genre
Awesome work
Props to audiotree for almost always responding to questions in the comments section. Very good viewer interaction guys, and thanks for giving us the opportunity to find new music.
Get from autumn to ashes on this shit! Would be a dream come true to me
Nice one! Love Defeater, but hey! GET ROSETTA also!
So rad.
Woohaaa!!! Freakin Heavy. \m/
The drummer is fucking amazing!!
I wish the interview was longer. Seems like they didn't mind you at all.
Where is the classical and always needed full playlist comment guy?
wow i saw them a few years ago but now they are really fucking tight
He's actually got a good voice with/out screaming. Boths sounds great
The questions that host asks are better than a majority of interviews you on RUclips.
19:12 "Dildos are always on my mind"
Kecskes Roland lolllll😂😂😂😂🤷🏼♂️
Get Touché Amoré. Dat new album.
Still relevant now
@@drumsno Real talk
Jesus this is good.
this musicianship and production is PRISTINE
Lol no it's not. For one, the vocalist is a fucking moron. He sounds like shit because he's cupping the mic for the entire set.
Mandalore230 quit trolling and let people enjoy the music homie, no need to be a keyboard warrior
I'm not trolling lol. You said production was pristine... It's not, and I pointed out why.
what are you talking about, he sounds exactly like he sond on record. sounds great, man
Not exactly, listen to the dear father ep song and listen to this session, the voice sounds way much better in the ep.
i came her from the cover they did of Blew
where the fuck is the guy who puts the setlist?
you're the guy
"Dear Father" was the trigger, which falled me in love to Deftones.
...wut
What kind of guitar is he playing (not the fender) but the tele copy with humbuckers?
A Reverend Guitar.
Joe Longobardi, Elliot Babin, Brad Vander Lugt... best post-hardcore drummers...
Totally agree, but don't count out David Haik and his pocket.
Any idea how the guitarist gets that sound at 1:37? It sounds like he's doing a volume swell, but he's not using the knob on his guitar, which is how I do it. I assume it's some sort of pedal?
Quintin Stanczak Volume pedal!
Thanks, man! I looked it up right after I commented and found it anyways haha.
Volume pedal and reverb
someone knows the name of the guitar from the guy with the long hairs?
Tim Reichersdörfer Reverend Charger HB
love the fact the guitarist is using Reverend
bass player as well ...
Is it just me or does Derek look like Edward Norton in this
lmao that's my first thought, the vocalist looks like the guy from Moonrise Kingdom
For when you want a soundtrack to being homeless and covered in piss. Good hard-hitting stuff 10/10
The soundtrack for anyone who was brought up in a home with an abusive alcoholic war hero dad and heroin addicted mum and murderous brother in a small town with drug addicts, dealers, and losers.
slightly disappointed they didn't play the beautiful piano parts on Brothers
No Moonshine. 😭
I can hardly even fart half as smoothly as that drummer hits those things.
He's such a clean drummer
What kind of bass is that?
Nevermind its a reverend
Thought this was another Defeater session, and was let down for like 1 second, but don't care cause this one still rips.
Same
It is.. Brothers was on Endless Nights so what are you on about? It's the epilogue to the whole story all the albums are about too, much feels every time I hear the whole thing. First album I heard from them, will always be in my top 20 favorite albums.
Huh? The entire thing was defeater. I don't think you have listened to their music enough. That first track is one of their best.
I love this sessions but i really dont like the interview part.... they should have 2 different videos, break completely the atmosphere of the listening. Just saying. Great sound thought.
If you'd like, you can watch a playlist of the individual tracks here: ruclips.net/video/eEMtuTXkmUs/видео.html
Great! Thanks for your answer! Keep the amazing job guys... one of my favorite channels so far. :D
paul rudd on drums
Waiting for that EDM Defeater album now lmao
Their EDM alias: Debeater
That thumbnail. That beard.
TRALLA DE LA GUAPA
i miss this band
Big Idiot bro they’re still around
510JisatsuNiño - will yip ruined the new album tho
Cupping the shit out of the mic. Might as well turn around and do vocals
Yeah bro can I see your audio tree performance?
acoustic guitar is so fake on the amp
I actually feel like it helps gives it a strange feeling....
Why didn't everyone tell him he was holding the micrphone wrong? it could have sounded so much better! :(
Not really, he just sounds like shit in general.
"are you guys EDM or no?"
i saw defeater on 10-21-11 in salt lake city, i had never been into slc at that point, and i met a girl online and i was so fucking shy, literally i just followed her to the star and back, but right down the street from the complex and all the young girls dressed in only their underwear and whatever, made me question everything. never seen a better hardcore band, bane was dope, miles away, killing the dream, vanguard, deepen the wound, so on and so on, but travels and lost ground never connected me to my emotions and emptiness, making me aware of myself in a very profound and sorrowful way then travels in my 15 year old orphaned, unwanted from his first breath, lost self.
When In Rome, Kill, the King. Woah
The vocalist doesn't sound quite right! still epic tho
Fuck, it hurts my eyes so fuckin much seeing how he's holding the mic and knowing the voice quality isn't the best yet it could be so much better if just someone in that studio could act clever and brave enough to tell him how to hold it correctly and why. Anyway, at least it ended up sounding well as a whole
Do NEVER cover the (f*kin) mic !
You know this is one of my favorite bands. The production value is not good. Sorry audiotree but shit, they didn’t sound good. When they took off with the progressed chorus in brothers. Studio gave me goosebumps. This made me cringe
Does nobody see how these guys attempted to rip off At the Drive-In. This has been done circa 2000.
Vocalist ruins it.
