When this came out during Covid it seriously saved my life. I was constantly fighting with my mother, I lost my dad a year prior, and I just feel lost. I snuck my computer into my room so I could watch this and it gave me so much hope. I will forever love this band!
They were never really big in Europe. They aren't as important and played such a big role as The Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana. JEW aren't bad though, and aren't a marginal band. It's just a bit of an exaggeration to objectively call them the most important band in the last 25 years. They might be that for you, and that's good enough. However, to me they're even more of a mainstream and monotonous band than the Foo Fighters, who in my opinion have many more great songs.
@@nedim_guitar I said the last 25 years. Nirvana was gone by then. The pumpkins were huge at the beginning of that but Jimmy Eat World have been a steady force ever since then while the Pumpkins have fizzled. The only other rock band with an argument against is The Foo Fighters
Just went back to this album and gave it a fair shake for the first time, and DANG is it good. "Diamond" has this super awesome power pop energy; I can almost hear some similar energy to The Cars at times. But I suppose Jimmy Eat World has always kinda had that.
@@ohalistair true, but it's plausible in this case because of the amount of effort and setup and cost required to get this whole thing going like it is
@@ohalistair There is nothing wrong with mixing a live show so it actually sounds good. But as all music producers and mixing engineers know, you can't polish a turd. You might be overestimating the post production in this. If the band didn't perform well and if all their equipment and microphones weren't set up well, the recording wouldn't have been good and the post production (i.e. the mix) wouldn't be able to save it. As you might see, they don't use real amps, so the stage volume isn't too loud. Their guitar effects (Fractal Axe FX) give all the sounds that they need and it's much easier to sound great.
I can’t thank the band enough for putting this all together. This takes an immense amount of planning, rehearsing, and production; they did it all for their fans. For the people who are complaining that it’s free now, and you paid for it when it was announced, just hold on to the excitement of watching it for the first time, and the feeling that you continued to support this tremendous band. Great job on the mix and post-production, Jim.
I paid and loved the experience and having something to look forward to. Then I was sad when it was over and I couldn’t rewatch it, so I’m just happy we get the chance to experience it again. If you’re going to complain about having to pay then I don’t know what to tell you, it wasn’t that expensive and you got to support a band you like and got an exclusive experience. They knocked it out of the park and delivered, now sit back and enjoy it again and again. I’ve paid more for shows that I never got to see again
It's mixed by Ken Andrews of the band Failure. Their album Fantastic Planet is a cult classic, but even their post reunion albums Heart Is A Monster and In The Future Your Body Will Be The Furthest Thing From Your Mind are great. Failure are a bit heavier, but you might like some of their stuff. At least they sound amazing.
Seen them live here in Brisbane twice, both amazing shows (futures 10th anniversary, and integrity blues) such a underrated band, which I loved after finding my brother's "bleed American" cd..I indentified with so many themes on that album. Always give 100% at their shows.
I love this album so much. It's like Chase This Light and Integrity Blues had a baby and named it Surviving. It's got the songwriting and artistic experimentation of those two albums, but is trimmed down and to the point.
Met singer at my first Sonic Youth show in LA circa 2004. My second Sonic Youth show in Denver, met the singer of Rise Against. Singers love Sonic Youth.
Ever since I heard A Praise Chorus back in my teens on one of Kerrang!s free CD’s, I’ve been hooked! Seen them live once in Bristol and they were amazing! Please come back guys! And Jim, your voice is 👌🏻😊❤️ They just grow and get better with every album!
As a James by blood, hearing Jimmy tracks hits in a special way. Especially being someone who hit rock bottom, went through Ego death, then rose up, and began to fly like a Pheonix. Endless thanks to Jimmy Eat World for the music that lives on in my hearr and has helped to free my spirit. I love you more.
Still amazing Still rocking Still everything you guys ever were and growing beyond it with every new album and performance Saw you for Kaboo Del Mar a few years back, you brought the energy and killed it Thanks for everything 🤘🤙
So glad for this upload. I was sad I missed the stream because I was not paying attention, add to that the cancellation of the concert in my country. So thanks guys, your album powered me through hard lockdowns.

The most important rock band of the last 25 years. Don't @ me. Great stuff.
They don't get half the recognition they deserve. It's a shame so many people only know them for The Middle.
I'm not sure if I'd say the most important, but I'd say the best of the last 25 years, yes.
@@uselessidguy331 I mean, they inspired a TON of famous punk / pop/ rock bands. So I think it's ok to give them "important" as a title : )

Welp. We're gonna need a Phoenix session for every record I think. These are so good!
They've been the soundtrack of my life since 1998.
Recommit and Delivery are just too good.
555 is quite literally a masterpiece
True
its Good!!!
Yes yes and yes!!!!
555 is sooooooo damn good!!!
I concur 100% ! Absolutely brilliant!
555 is my fav ☺️
Same. And they did such a phenomenal job with this performance of it!
Just went back to this album and gave it a fair shake for the first time, and DANG is it good. "Diamond" has this super awesome power pop energy; I can almost hear some similar energy to The Cars at times. But I suppose Jimmy Eat World has always kinda had that.
Damn, the title track is so insanely good. One of their best songs in years
When live performance sounds as good as studio records! And that's after so many years. It's epic!
It sounds *better*.
That's because the only live part about it is they're all playing together. A performance like this would have gone through so much post production.
@@ohalistair true, but it's plausible in this case because of the amount of effort and setup and cost required to get this whole thing going like it is
They're a tight band. It helps.

Surviving was a very good record. The minute your heard the opening Chords you just knew.
Gives me those very last Pre-Pandemic memories Oct2019-Jan2020
I listened this band more than 3000 minutes only in spotify. This year alone.
Most played band on my Spotify 4 years in a row 😂
I’ve been following them and attending gigs since 2001, but who’s counting….😳🤪
555 is such a masterpiece

I paid for it when it came out but would never complain if this brings them to new fans

Idk, they’re not really in it for the money. Never were. I also don’t think they’re “owned” by anyone
My God, Delivery is such a beautiful song 😍😍😍
I like the slow climbing feeling
we need a Phoenix session for Bleed American!!!
555 is one of a kind. what a creation.
The whole album is a masterpiece. It carried me through the pandemic.
Same here

Home town band.
I'm jealous
Jim’s voice gets better every album. How?
Honestly, best rock band ever.
I was incredibly sad that the concert in my country was canceled, I think it was due to covid. Glad they uploaded this!
This is band is huge. Always consistent!! They can't go wrong, every release is at least great
This album hits my grown-up emo soul so hard, man
Love this band.
Fantastic! Just saw Jimmy Eat World with Manchester orchestra at the Armory. I wish so much they played more of this album in their show.
Was there as well. Wished the same. Saw them at first avenue the year before and they played a ton of these songs. Congratulations was amazing.
I've never seen Jim not give 100% effort in a live performance. He either just loves it or has massive respect for the audience, or both.
both

13:30 - 13:37 This bit gets me every time. Love JEW.
This was a good temporary replacement to their cancelled Concert here in Manila in 2020 (fck COVID). I hope to catch them live soon.
My second favorite album from them and this performance is unbelievable. They sound just like the album, which many bands can’t claim.
No, they sound better than the recording, it's incredible. Heavier, more emotional and raw, yet superbly produced and clean.
Best Christmas Gift 😁
Thanks for putting this on youtube. Loved the livestreams. You guys inspired me to learn to play the guitar. Just got a JA 90 telecaster after saving.
This album is sooooo good!!! In my top 3 from them.
I am Surviving everyday!!! Thankyou Jimmy Eat World!
Such an awesome band wow ❤🎉
555 became my favorite song by them when it came out!

It sounds even better than the record.
Such a great performance. 💪
yes even better than the record
This a great mix for live through RUclips.
I wonder if we'll get more of these. Fingers crossed for Static Prevails!
So underrated and unknown in Europe, and in Italy specially! New generations need this

Pure masterpiece! \m/
Good, very very good
Thank you thank you thank you for releasing this. It was a pleasure to watch when it first came out and is amazing to see again.
Love Never is so damn good.

Your songs will always hold a special place in my heart forever and I loved this album so much

How is Jimmy Eat World the best band in the world, and no one even knows it.
We all know :)
I know
Some people do :) Count me in here.
They are soooooo good it’s ridiculous 😮❤
So glad for this upload. I was sad I missed the stream because I was not paying attention, add to that the cancellation of the concert in my country. So thanks guys, your album powered me through hard lockdowns.
