Or more...Bowie came really close to losing the Spiders because they just weren't ready for makeup etc., but they were broke and he had gigs.

@@feranas5962 that's not the point there is a huge presence of a backing track if u took that away u would have live music also lots of effects nothing wrong with doing that to achieve the sound u want! But the songs would not be recognizable without the backing track I guess is my point

The audio quality is so good and crisp and I can hear so many sounds clearly the job by the audio engineers is done perfectly!

Seriously, KEXP has been my source of inspiration for a few years now. Discovered so many bands through their channel's great live performances. Never heard of Glass Beams before, but i've played this live performance 8 full times in the past 2 days, and I`m planning on seeing em live in Berliin soon.

I wish somebody would love me like the drummer loves wind chimes. What a band Glass Beams is, they truly teleport you to a distant time with their music, I feel like I am in a desert but in a cyberpunk dystopia, doing illegal car races in the desert with Glass Beams bursting out loud in the speakers.

Damn good band mate! First time I've heard them and love KEXP (again) for introducing me to another great artist. Going back to holding onto the elephant.

Racing cars is the last thing on my mind when listening to this music, but i'm glad everybody's imagination portrays something different.
I am 62 yrs old. Grew up in SF. This sound could slip right into the 1960's and early 70's GREAT job guys!
A lot of the sound comes from that period. Also inspired by world music of that time. I am originally from san Francisco also. Bless the Bay Area.🎉🎉

I'm pretty sure there is a common structure. Maybe phrygian mode, or minor harmonic. Definitely something dark and mysterious in Glass Beams. I love it.

I dunno about the bass model but for getting those vintage bass sounds you need two things:
flat-wound strings and a sponge next to the bridge to dampen the strings.

Saw them live in Chicago. Ah-Mazing! You think it sounds good here, seeing and hearing it live and being fully immersed in the music was transformative. A rarity to be able to be enveloped musically like that. Won't forget it.

Discovered this band in 2020, and fell in love instantly. it's crazy to see them blow up. They deserve it. Literally, unreal.
First time in a while i busted out the second earbud for a random listen. What an incredible sound.
I clicked in the thumbnail wondering “what the hell is this?” 3 songs in and they’re my new favorite thing.

I got an ad a few months ago, about these guys coming to town. I was intrigued, so I bought tickets. One of the best sounding concerts I've ever seen live. The levels were *chef's kiss*. Hats off to the audio engineer that night.

Even though I'd never heard of Glass Beams before, the fact that until around 40 minutes ago they didn't even exist to me seems crazy. KEXP has managed to normalize not just finding great new music, but finding music that is better in ways you didn't even know to wish for, music that to me at least often grows the entire idea of good in ways that feel important and occasionally even life changing. That's amazing. It got me thinking about all the bands KEXP has turned me on to and how many have become the kind of bands i can't imagine life without: Idles, Aurora, Mannequin Pussy, Los Bichos, King Gizzard, Sleigh Bells, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, alll feel thataway and now just this week Deerlady and now Glass Beams have joined the list. The fact that a substantial percentage of the joy I experience in life is because of a radio station run by people I've never met is so far beyond the most extravagant dreams anyone could imagine back when i started buying records in the 70's that just saying thanks seems inadequate, but it's all I got. So thanks, y'all fucking rock

I love this music. So glad I came across this band. Their music is so groovy and lush but it’s never in the way of what you are doin. I was listening to it in the background while working and I was enjoying it without it detracting me from my work. Actually kind of inspiring in the background or with your full attention. Love it
This music is (normally) way out of my comfort zone, but thanks to KEXP I started listening to the performance and I was hooked... Intriguingly good!

Had the pleasure of seeing Glass Beams in May of 2024. Absolutely transcendent seeing them do their thing in person. If you have the chance to see them, I highly recommend it. Especially in an intimate venue. My soul felt cleansed and energized by the end of their set! 🌟
Saw them recently in SF at the Independent, a small intimate venue perfect for this aesthetic.
I'm blessed to have seen them live before they make it big and move on to larger venues

The boys are some of the best musicians I have ever encountered. (And I've stood on the side of the stage for every major act in the last 30+ years!) Truly brilliant.
This band is going to be huge in the coming year. Hope they make a full album soon.

I have to agree with one of the comments down here. Came for the thumbnail, stayed for the music. And now enjoying reading the comments even more! It not only feels good to have discovered this band that is sooo sooo cool, but I'm reading comments from so many like-minded listeners who went through the same experience as I did! Isn't this what music and internet put together supposed to achieve? So beautiful on so many levels! Definitely subscribing!
The initial build up in Rattlesnake took me by surprise! They have honed this track even further. It's always a pleasure to see them perform.

The desert blues, the Sahara blues…whatever you want to call it, I never tire of it. Mdou Moctar, Al Qusar, Band Douhe, all this stuff is raw but ethereal at the same time.
