Last boss if you want the normal ending other than that you got Ballos next (If you meet the requirements). You pretty much fight Sue, Misery, and the Undead Core.
*Sue*
The easiest out of all of them.
*Misery*
She summons critters, bats, or those homing fishes at you. Pretty much annoying.
*Undead Core*
Easy...just avoid stupid mistakes...

This is easily one of my favorite bosses in any video game (even if it isn't the "true" final boss). The music is epic, the presentation is epic, the battle is challenging, AND fun... it's everything a final boss battle should be.
Basically , a complete opposite of Ballos
Except when you dont awake good that day and Doctor & Misery smash all your hp and get to undead core with 6 hp and you are saving your life pot to ballos fight.
And you are f*cking 6 hours trying beat it
@justanormaldude6802 If you talk to chacko in the room before a few times all the mimigas drop hearts. Very useful if you are struggling

I got to this spot a few times with 1 - 20 HP and the machine gun - all rockets wasted of the doctor (he dies quickly that way)
I finally managed to beat this bastard after like 2 hours (almost died too!). I'm so relieved and happy!
it's a matter of taste\ play-style.I found machinegun to be more useful due to that you can fly around even without booster,and if you learn to shoot where and how you need "on the fly",it becomes so much better than other two upgrades.Besides,if you want to go for the best ending you'll need to fight Core in the underwater facility without a booster,and that is,politely saying,very irritating.

I'm starting to regret not using Spur in my booster v0.8 run which I traded for Machine Gun because "ooh I can fly at max level, that's so cool"

Those Stars are item called WhimsicalStar u can get em after getting the spur, "upgraded" version of Polar Star.

I agree with you, but i'll just be slightly on his side to say this is kinda the final boss if you follow its good enough and not extra path.
Arghhh, so I'll have to replay the whole game to be able to play Ballos... Wish I'd known this earlier!! -_-
You make it seem so easy! Argh, I can barely make it to him with 20 health left, and I can't dodge all the crap that's flying everywhere! Ugh, what's Hell gonna be like.. I'm so damn terrible at this game T~T

i always beat this boss 1st or 2nd try, but the regular core is always really hard

@gamerguy2k8 Well, I had beaten Ballos (from Sacred Grounds) with Machine Gun (have a video from that - but I haven't recorded my Undead Core fight, sorry :c) ;)

Misery is the easiest boss in the game, in my opinion. So whip out your spur and kill her. If you do it right, you will have all your life in tact. Then go to the doctor, and take out your blade. Get hit at this moment, which will cause temporary invincibility, and go up close and personal with the doctor and spam the blade. Then switch to Spur and kill his second form. The core is a piece of cake after that. Don't get excited by Sue and Misery, they are distractions. Focus on the core.
You forgot these things flying around Quote known as the "Whimsical Star!" To get this, you need to go back to the Labyrinth to get to Chaba's Shop and talk to the Ghadi on the counter again to obtain this item.

i am not bragging here, i just beat this boss for the first time, and it was my first time fighting him, i used my life pot right before muscle doctor(luckily,otherwise i would have died right as beating him)and
yeah undead core,
first i took out sue, by spamming lv3 super missiles, and misery used what i had left and spurred her out, the i spurred(lv3 mostly) the undead core, and i beat it just before some blasts(likely going to kill me) hit me.
and i was wow, i was lucky

I don't like to brag,but I only had booster v 0.8,and the machine gun. To be honest,the doctor put up a better fight...

No idea what the stars are, but to upgrade your polar star into the spur, you need to get back to the first cave with either the booster v.08 or v.20 and get into that room where you first got the polar star, then you need to talk to the guy that was sleeping, then he'll take your polar star and upgrade it into the spur.
Long but helpful.
Very, very old comment, but the stars are an item you get from the shopkeeper who gives you the snake (polar + fireball), if you already have the spur he’ll give you it. The stars do small damage to whatever they touch, and go away when you get hit one at a time. They return by fully charging the spur

You should really try to keep Misery alive, her minions make the fight extremely easy.
Counterpoint, the health pickups from her minions are the only reason she does not overwhelm you, and the undead core is actually easier than the fist core battle once you take her out.
if you dont hit her she wont call as much enemies

It’s got a few steps, but they aren’t to complex. First things first, you are gonna want to keep your pistol with you ALWAYS! Make sure to hop over the canyon where Dr. booster. You will eventually meet again in Arthur’s house where Dr. Booster will give you the upgraded booster so you can fly up to that hidden door in minivan village. You will then enter the first cave where you will meet the old gunsmith who will trade you your Polar Star pistol for the spur: the laser gun.
First, keep your ★Polar Star★ And do not change It for ANYTHING, skip the Dr. Booster when you find it in the laberint (there Is a intentional red line that tells you how to jump to the rock door) dont worry you will meet him later And will give you the Booster 2.0 then when you can go to plantation you will need go to upper left of mimiga town (with booster 2.0) And you will be back to a familiar place, "The First Cave" go to the place when you found the ★Polar Star★ You will find the old man awaken trying to find his ★Polar star★ he will realize you have it and will steal It from you angry.
But he will realize how you took care of It And realize that you never changed It for Any other weapon, he will give It to you.

Agreed. The game is probably 3-5 times easier once you get it, depending how good you are at the game.

This game is better than undertale. Undertale is in my top 10 favorite games of all time. but nothing well beat this game

The Living Lapis Agreed but I would have liked Undertale more if it didn't have such a bad fanbase. I like indie games more than triple A because They usually have a small fanbase and they are full with nice people who will help you with problems you might have. But Undertale unfortunately has one of the most cancerous fanbases I've seen people spoiled the game for other people who never played it. BUT WHAT MAKES ME SO MAD IS THAT THEY TELL YOU HOW TO PLAY A GAME. UNDERTALE WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED BLIND
THE GAME EXPECTS YOU TO FUCK UP AND KILL A FEW MONSTERS ON YOUR FIRST RUN. YET PEOPLE ARE DEMANDING THAT PEOPLE SHOULD PLAY PACIFIST RUN. Because of that I felt no emotion on the true Pacifist I reset the game immediately and started my genocide run. It's a shame cause Toby wanted this game to not turn into a garbage cess pool.

I know this reply is three years late and you probably beat it but, spamming lvl 2 blade is the way to go.

Dude, that's not really torture.
Those three bosses just take practice to master. It took me 4-5 tries to go through all of them. Doctor and Misery get pretty easy if you know their pattern, undead core can require a bit of strategy.
Dying in a videogame should be punishing. I'm glad Cave Story does not have save states because then I wouldn't have experienced the true beauty of it.
