I also think it might happen in the live action movies too, since there were hints of a special friendship/relationship building up between these two, since Cleo offered to be Frankies first and only friend on social media...for no apparent reason? I genuinely think there's something happening there too, which we'll get to see more of in the upcoming movies.

I think what monster high is trying to do is have a more diverse cast of main characters, as opposed to just having the side characters be their main form of diversity/representation. It’s one thing to have a side character (regardless of how loved they are) be Latina, it’s another to have one of the main characters that will have many dolls be produced and accessible be Latina. I appreciate what they’re doing- it is a reboot which means that everything that happened in gen 1 AND gen 2 has no bearing on the new characters. It’s a total reimagining of who these characters are.

I actually recently was praising the show for this ship being build up in a pretty organic way cos even in the ep where ship was revealed : they didn't confess to eachother, didn't become a couple, didn't kiss so there were no rushing it. Just cute moments with chemistry between them, Frankie blushing, Cleo saying smth among the lines :"...a special monster did come into my life, like,more into my life". Idc what the intentions of the creators were as long as the ship continues to be developing in a natural flaw and Clankie's relationship would be executed in the same adorable way as it happened in Horoscare :)

If she was Romanian they wouldn't just say half Taiwanese, notice how Clawdeen is mixed and neither side is left out. Drac, they leave out the Transylvanian part and cut all the obvious influences from her and her father, as well as fail to mention her knowing any language other than Mandarin. So far, she seems to be a fully assimilated American in the cartoon continuity.

As a Deuce x Cleo shipper this is a complicated feeling to support. I'm under the "I can see it, but not for me." Also I thought the ship name was FranCleo.
It’s worth to note that most of MH fans consist of mostly old fans from the original monster high. So of course, they want the ghoul squad to be the same. Also making a lot of changes to monster high og characters doesn’t seem like monster high any more. Again I think they could’ve had a set of different characters in monster high with these changes and have the original ghouls graduated. And just kept them at Alumni characters. I want to add that what made MH standout is the friendship between them and how close knit the ghouls becomes even if they’re all different monster species and some having clashing personalities. I honestly think establishing friendships is more important despise differences and backgrounds and that’s what it seem to me on that episode. From the episode clips, I just don’t see any chemistry between them.
First of all we wouldn’t have the monster high Nickelodeon cartoon right now if it wasn’t for that old show. Also if they are using the same characters a lot of us would kind of expect them to be the same which brings up my point that they should of introduced different characters. Hi I’m a gay person who grew up with monster high and personally it’s not even about representation I literally just think Cleo and Frankie have a cute dynamic and shipping wlw is natural for me because that’s my kind of ideal relationship. So yes I do understand that representation is important because lgbt, bipoc, and disabled people EXIST and SHOULD be seen in media, but also arguing over if something that’s already representation is “good” or not (as long as it’s not stereotyped) is kinda pointless when you could just be enjoying a cute pairing :)

Clankie sounds so cute! I'm with the one person shipping Cleo, Deuce, and Franke in a poly ship! Just imagine the dance comes up, Deuce is just standing off to the side, and Cleo and Franke both go up and dance with him, then comes a slow dance and they still dance with him and they all three get that look when they see themselves together and they know, this feels right.
I actually like that Draculaura is Asian cuz even in Gen 1, I thought she was Asian... Just like how I saw Jade from Bratz as Asian (even if it wasn't completely cannon)... Live action Bratz, it was.

Monster High in my mind was always about representation and teaching kids that it’s okay to be you and everyone is unique. I see no issue in the two characters being together.
I've seen josephphamaro IGS and I thought the same too before, I agree with him 100%. MH is diverse from the very beginning. Jinafire, Skelita, Val, Neightan, Kiyomi, Robbecca. Now there's no Romanian representation, no Australian too
People think G3 is more diverse because they don't count nationalities as diversity. Was G1 perfect, no. But there were plenty more nationalities AND RACES shown, which G3 either scrubs over with something else (hint, usually more American), and villainizes accents (Lagoona is controversial among the Latin community and Toralei is a villain, the only two recurring characters with accents are negative and the true heroes all talk like they're from LA. Drac seems to be American now, and even though many characters were foreign but had no accents in the original, like Cleo and Frankie, they would lose them if they had them). The only thing I like about the rep nationality wise is that Ghoulia is Canadian. Don't listen to ppl who say "Drac is still Romanian". Because Mattel sure loves Americanizing her and even her father, and doesn't bring up anything but Taiwan and Mandarin. If she's Romanian and Taiwanese, both would be mentioned, talked about, shown, and at least her DAD would have an accent like he did in the movie
It's definitely complicated. The main thing I don't like about clankie IS the Deuce question, just cuz I really don't want to see Deuce and Clawdeen. Thats a strong nope for me. I think the other problem is having main characters with each other. In g1 Deuce was ONLY a main cuz he was with cleo. In all the promo art and box art this gen has established a "core 5" of draculaura, clawdeen, frankie, lagoona, and cleo. I think anybody can be with any character as long as it isn't a main 5 overlap since that can get messy. So frankie or cleo can match differently, its the fact that they're matching two mains with each other that has me scratching my head like can they handle it narratively how's the focus going to work what kind of screen time will this get and will it take away from other mains getting screen time (cough lagoona who still hasn't had an episode dedicated to her). Whereas having frankie be with a new character would be a great way to establish said character and vice versa with cleo. Like if kiyomi and draculaura had been a thing sort of thing. This is also a built in way for new non core characters to get the core treatment. I also don't get power couple vibes and for me personally its hard to imagine Cleo NOT being in a power couple, this would need to be fleshed out more to get there. We still don't know what the episode of deuce asking frankie out and frankie not being in monster ball all means. So just in terms of what the show creators are even planning I think its too early to start saying Clankie is actually a thing till we get a definitive hands holding while walking around school together moment (mostly cuz idk if nickolodeon will let a kiss moment happen). So I'm not directly opposed I'm just in the head scratching how they gonna work this how this gonna effect the core 5 faze

I am still in denial about Jackson and Holt not returning. I really want them to return, and I really want them to end up with Frankie again. But moving forward with Clankie. I would love to see how Frankie and Cleo relate. With all of Frankie's previous partners, Frankie could always relate to them. My favorite was with Neighthan Rot. I'd like to seem something similar between Frankie and Cleo.

I don't see a problem. Frankie is a them as she has male and female parts... including their brain. Also the story was great with the hand touch ending. In a way Frankie is perfect for Cleo cause Frankie is many.
@monsterenergypunk a well technically Frankie look female in the show but the she producers so far have pointed out that Frankie is comprised of male, female and non binary parts from other creatures. So they/them does seem logical. If anyone saw Ghost Rider with Nickalis Cage knows the scene where the bad guy takes in the damned souls of a town. He began to refer to himself as "legion" because because "we are many". Others that can go these pronouns are Hyde/Jeckle.... oh you know if Monster High were to a charter based of of the movie "Dr Jeckle and Mrs Hyde" they could have a bisexuality character. As diverse as this new g3 is aiming to be, it still has a huge colorism problem, with Clawdeen being light skinned and mixed and with no dark-skin or textured hair representation besides the headmistress who doesn’t even have a doll. We desperately need g3 Honey Swamp.

If youve been watching the show it wasnt just shoehorned in. the romance has been well written and authentic to a queer expierience in school. i think a lot of people are just still angry about so many "changes" I feel like the writers really care about the project that theyre working on. I feel like we need to give the show and movies a chance to say what theyre trying to. if were paying attention to the mh youtube channel theyve been playing with pairings like lagoona and drac or drac and deuce. Theyre experimenting. Giv them a chance. wait until june for the corporate rainbow pandering. thats when they do it to squeeze every dollar out of you. Not now.
the points made by josephphamaro don’t make much sense to me. he called the relationship forced which shows he never actually payed attention to the show and the build up to them crushing on each other. for his point on diversity, I think they changed the races of lagoona and draculaura because they knew they weren’t going to immediately bring back more diverse characters like skelita and jinafire. i understand his point on them adding no influences of culture in lagoonas design, but i don’t think she needs to have aspects of hispanic culture in her design to be hispanic. also, these are new characters, their g1 counterparts don’t need to have queer coding for them to be queer in the new generation, coming from a queer person myself.
well, that's the definition of forced diversity and tokenism isn't it. Sidelining the diverse characters from before and adding that aspect to the already-established characters.

It’s worth to note that most of MH fans consist of mostly old fans from the original monster high. So of course, they want the ghoul squad to be the same. Also making a lot of changes to monster high og characters doesn’t seem like monster high any more. Again I think they could’ve had a set of different characters in monster high with these changes and have the original ghouls graduated. And just kept them at Alumni characters.
I want to add that what made MH standout is the friendship between them and how close knit the ghouls becomes even if they’re all different monster species and some having clashing personalities. I honestly think establishing friendships is more important despise differences and backgrounds and that’s what it seem to me on that episode. From the episode clips, I just don’t see any chemistry between them.

First of all we wouldn’t have the monster high Nickelodeon cartoon right now if it wasn’t for that old show. Also if they are using the same characters a lot of us would kind of expect them to be the same which brings up my point that they should of introduced different characters. I rather the group (Frankie, Clawdeen, Draculaura, Laggona, and Cleo) all just be friends with each other as a friend group and get into relationships with other people, as I'm not a fan all of them being shipped with each other. I just think it's more important to have a friend group that is your support system.

As long as they are all happy ND it is written well. Reboots are new ideas that take a lot of effort and time. Faithfulness isn't required and these are brand new characters in a brand new universe. Hi I’m a gay person who grew up with monster high and personally it’s not even about representation I literally just think Cleo and Frankie have a cute dynamic and shipping wlw is natural for me because that’s my kind of ideal relationship. So yes I do understand that representation is important because lgbt, bipoc, and disabled people EXIST and SHOULD be seen in media, but also arguing over if something that’s already representation is “good” or not (as long as it’s not stereotyped) is kinda pointless when you could just be enjoying a cute pairing :)

Just imagine the dance comes up, Deuce is just standing off to the side, and Cleo and Franke both go up and dance with him, then comes a slow dance and they still dance with him and they all three get that look when they see themselves together and they know, this feels right.

i’m warming up to this new generation of monster high but i just can’t see clankie being a couple goal. i see cleo being independent and not having to worry about having a special monster. she has a throne to take over ghouls! frankie just needs some one they can have a better spark with! good try on representation just needs to be tweaked to hit the right spot for me. they’re young they’ll figure it out. that’s all :))

I've seen josephphamaro IGS and I thought the same too before, I agree with him 100%. MH is diverse from the very beginning. Jinafire, Skelita, Val, Neightan, Kiyomi, Robbecca. Now there's no Romanian representation, no Australian too

People think G3 is more diverse because they don't count nationalities as diversity. Was G1 perfect, no. But there were plenty more nationalities AND RACES shown, which G3 either scrubs over with something else (hint, usually more American), and villainizes accents (Lagoona is controversial among the Latin community and Toralei is a villain, the only two recurring characters with accents are negative and the true heroes all talk like they're from LA. Drac seems to be American now, and even though many characters were foreign but had no accents in the original, like Cleo and Frankie, they would lose them if they had them). The only thing I like about the rep nationality wise is that Ghoulia is Canadian.
Don't listen to ppl who say "Drac is still Romanian". Because Mattel sure loves Americanizing her and even her father, and doesn't bring up anything but Taiwan and Mandarin. If she's Romanian and Taiwanese, both would be mentioned, talked about, shown, and at least her DAD would have an accent like he did in the movie

It's definitely complicated. The main thing I don't like about clankie IS the Deuce question, just cuz I really don't want to see Deuce and Clawdeen. Thats a strong nope for me. I think the other problem is having main characters with each other. In g1 Deuce was ONLY a main cuz he was with cleo. In all the promo art and box art this gen has established a "core 5" of draculaura, clawdeen, frankie, lagoona, and cleo. I think anybody can be with any character as long as it isn't a main 5 overlap since that can get messy. So frankie or cleo can match differently, its the fact that they're matching two mains with each other that has me scratching my head like can they handle it narratively how's the focus going to work what kind of screen time will this get and will it take away from other mains getting screen time (cough lagoona who still hasn't had an episode dedicated to her). Whereas having frankie be with a new character would be a great way to establish said character and vice versa with cleo. Like if kiyomi and draculaura had been a thing sort of thing. This is also a built in way for new non core characters to get the core treatment. I also don't get power couple vibes and for me personally its hard to imagine Cleo NOT being in a power couple, this would need to be fleshed out more to get there. We still don't know what the episode of deuce asking frankie out and frankie not being in monster ball all means. So just in terms of what the show creators are even planning I think its too early to start saying Clankie is actually a thing till we get a definitive hands holding while walking around school together moment (mostly cuz idk if nickolodeon will let a kiss moment happen). So I'm not directly opposed I'm just in the head scratching how they gonna work this how this gonna effect the core 5 faze

As a Deuce x Cleo shipped, this G3 ship is hard for to adapt.
I mean tbh it does kinda feel like they're forcing them to be together to garner more views because ppl that are part of the LGBTQ+ will watch to see that in the show, I do support it but this is just my opinion also I prefer Frankleo
I am still in denial about Jackson and Holt not returning. I really want them to return, and I really want them to end up with Frankie again.
But moving forward with Clankie. I would love to see how Frankie and Cleo relate. With all of Frankie's previous partners, Frankie could always relate to them. My favorite was with Neighthan Rot. I'd like to seem something similar between Frankie and Cleo.

let me preface this by saying i support their relationship 1000% and hope to see more of them, however i don’t think the issue is that anybody is “pandering” since half the creators and writers are queer, so ofc there’s gonna be queer characters. the main issue i found was with how random it felt..? especially with all the whole cleo and clawdeen duo eps. cleo being obsessed with humans and clawdeen being half-human it seemed like they were implying something, especially with they way Toralei was talking to Cleo😭😭

I don't see a problem. Frankie is a them as she has male and female parts... including their brain. Also the story was great with the hand touch ending. In a way Frankie is perfect for Cleo cause Frankie is many.

@monsterenergypunk a well technically Frankie look female in the show but the she producers so far have pointed out that Frankie is comprised of male, female and non binary parts from other creatures. So they/them does seem logical.

Others that can go these pronouns are Hyde/Jeckle.... oh you know if Monster High were to a charter based of of the movie "Dr Jeckle and Mrs Hyde" they could have a bisexuality character. Those 2 headed monsters.. I think they are called Hydras. Not sure but there was a 2 headed mermaid in the one movie.
