Yo! Just wanted to say thanks for the vid! The PCB from this tach is the exact same as a 5th gen Celica ST and this vid helped a TON

Going to check everything again to make sure I believe the timing may be off

Hey man. I may be waaay to late, but for me i had the same issue yesterday when im trying to get my gen 2 3sge to start, it turned out that under the power coil thingy
(stuck to the body in like the rear leftish area, the one with one wide black plug and one directly next to it thats white -grayish)
Like directly under the black plug, you can feel that there is a slot for anonther plug, i just had to plug that in and now it starts like a charm!
Its literally impossible to see but ypu can feel it, i only found out because i noticed it in a repair manual illustration

Hi, I own toyota celica 5gen from 1993, I assume the speedometer could be alike. The speedometer's vector (the arrow) is bouncing and shaking especially during cold weather. Do you think a bad capacitor could be the issue?
btw use flux and a desolder sucker for easy lead removal :)

Sounds like your capacitors are failing. Definitely solder sucker would be helpful. The procedure for the celica should be the same.

    Hello sir,
I have a Toyota mr2 1991 2.2l non turbo 5-speed manual transmission. I’ve followed your steps and my tachometer is not working, can you please explain why? What type of solder wick did you use and can you please tell me what capacitor did you have. I’ve installed 100uF 25V Radial Lead Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor I don’t know if I got the right one. Please help me.

The capacitor is 10uf not 100uf. I used 10uf and Also make sure your installed with the proper polarity + & -
