Oh Lord… that was painful. The ATC deserves a medal for patience.
HOw is this guy even allowed to fly.... this is so sad to listen to.
The FAA was probably trying to hit their diversity target.
If the pilot ever reads this: never fly again please. It’s terrifying we share the same sky as you do.
I’ll add something further - if you happen to be housed at the same field as him, please get your FSDO involved. I know how crappy you’d feel doing that - but the rest of us in the air and those on the ground under where he flies will thank you for it. The guy needs some remedial help before he flies again.
Legend has it that this pilot is still trying to copy the clearance. :)
And the controller committed herself to a mental institution 😂😂😂😂😂
I heard he forgot where he was going and ended up in North Carolina!!! 🤣
This started back in 1955? 🤣
It’s called a pencil. Woefully unprepared. This is the same guy who drives in the left lane for 20 miles, 5 mph below the speed limit, paralleling the semis in the right lane. Sheesh.
You gave him a good spanking didn't you.
And his turn signal has been on since he bought the car.
That controller is an absolute SAINT. I was so ready for her to say, "Contact boston departure and get the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 out of my airspace."
Legend has it that 57DB is still on the Norwood Three Departure an indefinite holding pattern
That's quite the legend! The Norwood Three Departure must be a never-ending journey for 57DB.
Obvious that this guy has NO pencil & paper in the cockpit and instead obsessed with the fancy toys inside his parachute plastic plane.
Delta Bravo, discard those instructions. You're cleared to AVIS or Enterprise. You're renting a car and driving where you want to go. Please stop flying.
Now THAT'S funny!
Ahhh...what's the runway number at AVIS...
I am neither a pilot nor a controller, but I almost lost my mind listening to this. If I was the controller, I'd be tempted to yell at him "And don't come back here ever again!"
In a Tesla, Prius, Soul, Xb, PT Cruiser, Miata, Beetle Saab for you oldsters.
It's legit scary this guy doesn't know the runway he's supposed to go to. At what point can ATC stop a pilot from flying?
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a Cirrus pilot...
Prob used CAPS for his descent.
lol… this is what scares me… if I’m in the soup, and this guy is anywhere near me, I pray that ATC gives no changes in what he expects. This applies toANY Cirrus pilot.
ciriosusly
@@nondisclosed5439 nice!
What is it about Cirrus pilot that makes them bad?
What's worse? Him not being able to write down a complicated clearance? Or him asking the controller on how to fly a SID? Or him doing a runway incursion? Or him not knowing where runway 10 is? Good thing he's got CAPS
It's clear this guy is trying to readback his instructions via his FMS as he's including all the fixes along the Victor airways. That's precisely why you need to write your clearance down and not rely on the constructed route of flight displayed on your FMS.
I don't have any flight knowledge but it scares the hell out of me that this guy might be anywhere over my head - here on the ground we usually think its time to take away Grampys keys when he gets lost in the Walmart parking lot.
At some point I would have to ask "sir, are you sure you're ready to go?" He seemed flustered just to be talking on the radio. He knew his flight plan was long and should have been prepared. And then to taxi the wrong way and onto a runway? He's a hazard and hasn't even lifted off yet.
At first, I was wondering "is this guy instrument rated?". By the end I'd decided he wasn't even a student pilot.
No one should be issued an instrument rating that can’t even copy an IFR clearance. Since the pilot was issued a clearance he is completely unfamiliar with, how does he know he’s got enough fuel to fly the assigned clearance? That clearance would be a great time for an instructor to take his garmin away and see if he can plot the route on a map to determine fuel requirement manually. Technology is great until it fails.
Anyone on here feel safe, flying with him and ending up at the right destination?
Had I been a passenger on this flight with this guy, I would have said "I feel sick" and jumped out before he left the ramp.
I was thinking the same thing!!@@captainpicard1701e
Wow. I just flew to HKY yesterday. I couldn't imagine this guy even following the simple taxi instructions at HKY to the ramp after landing.
The guy can't even read back a takeoff clearance correctly. That controller should have demanded he read back his entire tail number too.
Just waiting for the controller to throw in a Wicked Pissah......gotta love that Boston accent
And just think, the engine was idling the whole time. He used half his fuel even before taking off.
Dear lawd….that was painful!! 😂
This pilot's stumbling manner was broadcast in a previous YT video. That confused performance was at airport LOU.
As a young Air Force meteorologist, pilot weather briefings were a pretty significant part of my duties. NO ONE took off without me signing off on their DD form 175-1. Over years, I learned almost all of the waypoints around my state, and would reference these on my weather briefings. The pilots really appreciated this.
Am I the only one who cheered for the ATC once the pilot is in the air and cleared her frequency? Lol
I don't think this guy should have been cleared for take-off.
Should never have been certificated to begin with
The controller should have flagged him for the runway incursion and uttered the phrase “possible pilot deviation” then given a phone number….
Then she would've had to spend even more time repeating the phone number over and over again!
After long read back I was hoping pilot would've added, "Wash, soap, rinse, spin."
And repeat.
this truly wasn't too hard to copy down. Perhaps this guy needs to do some instrument refresher training flights with a CFII to build his skills up a little bit. If he can't competently write this down then I seriously question whether he can competently execute the flight safely.
I question if he could execute it VFR
Coincidently, I started listening to this in Norwood, MA as I started a car trip. It ended just as I pulled into my destination in Hickory, NC. Thanks for the company, ATC AUDIO!
😂😂😂
Lord help this gentleman if he ever needs to decide to activate CAPS or not.
N57DB you are cleared direct to Terminal-A of the Boston Greyhound bus station.
Ahh...what's the runway number of the bus station...
If im his passenger im skipping this trip.
sad thing is, pax don't have a clue and put the trust in the incompetent.
@@shanec.7105 Thats a very small plane not to hear whats going on. Plus he made 2 U-turns.
Norwood Ground: Give directions.
N57DB: Ok I got 2 gallons of milk. One bag of Oreos, bottled water and a rotisserie chicken, correct? 57 Delta Bravo...
Oh my dear lord!!! That literally hurt to watch!!!
Cirrus called. They're coming to take back their airplane.
Why was he cleared for takeoff? That was ridiculous.
This guy is a menace to all pilots and controllers. Entirely incompetent.
I wasn’t able to pass my flight physical due to PTSD from the military… but one of the three stooges was apparently able to get his…..
Hi, if I had a wild guess to make, I'd say the pilot was FUI. It must have been quite a good day for the ATC as she succeeded to stay almost calm. :)
The controller is awesome for having that kind of patience.
Does it ever come to it when the controller has to say “you’re not flying” ?? You’re a hazard to yourself and to everyone around you. Then the FAA should make this pilot get a flight review. Just saying. This is a fast complex plane he is flying but his skill level doesn’t match it.
No pilot deviation? I don’t want this guy flying over my house.
This is why “paper charts” are necessary BEFORE you try to load the GARMIN/FMS. NY Airspace is tough.
I assume ATC doesn't have much control over being able to stop a pilot from flying, but why didn't the controller report his "possible pilot deviation" for his runway incursion on taxi? Wouldn't the FAA have reviewed this recording to review the runway incursion and then most likely investigated further?
Not trying to be funny here but was this guy drunk? He showed serious signs of mental incapacitation. Did he have a fall recently and hit his head? Not kidding. This guy seemed completely out of it. Even the way he questioned whether he needed to read back the IFR clearance because it was in his FMS. Then, when he did read it back he added a lot of GPS waypoints that ATC never gave him in the initial IFR clearance. Then a couple of taxi errors!!!! He should have taxied back to the hangar and shut it down. If this pilot checked the IM SAFE acronym I would hope he would have realized he was NOT ready to go flying on this particular day.
Has he even flown before? The problem started when he clearly didn't write the route down. He was confirming what he had loaded already. I doubt he wrote it down the second time - or third. He was loading on the fly.
I JUST GOT A MIGRANE WITH THIS PILOT!!! JESUS!!!
GodInHeavenThisControllerIsASaint.
how is that guy going to make it through life?
this guy's a full on delta bravo
He shouldn’t be allowed to operate a pencil!!!
Clearly this guy wasn’t writing down the clearance given and was probably trying to enter it into the Garmin. Poor way to do it - write it down, read it back THEN enter the route into the aircraft system….
and despite all that he took off at what's (from memory) close to or above the rated crosswind limit of the cirus
Wow! Did he eventually make it to his destination?
Wow......, just wow....
I can’t believe that this guy flies a plane 😮
I know I've heard that controller with that tone here before
I’m speechless! How does he continue to fly?
Retired controller here....this guy would be getting the phone #
Geez. Is this guy planning on telling the plane in midair to "hold on" if something happens that he doesn't keep up with?
HOW IS THIS GUY ALLOWED TO FLY WTF?!?!?!
Who signed off on this guy's IFR cert? Or PPL for that matter? Readback is ALWAYS required unless you're in an unusual situation like Osh or Sun n Fun.
Also...who currently flies this aircraft? I looked it up on FlightAware and it looks like it's either being used for flight training or some old dude takes it out for laps in the pattern somewhat often. I also see a few 5+ hour flights... I've never flown the SR22, but I suspect that's pretty darn close to fuel minimums there.
I’d hate to see this guy try to fly Sun & Fun close to all those planes. He’d never be able to follow the pattern and rock his wings when spoken to.
I suspect this is a very old pilot who is on his last legs and nobody around to pull his license. How sad to go out like this - if he was ever a good pilot.
@@MetsterAnn His rock-the-wings probably would result in a stall-spin.
The clearance only includes the entry and exit points of airways. The garmin puts in all the intermediate points from the database, which are necessary to navigate the course. The pilot (and ideally the controller as well) should know this.
But there is nothing about this exchange that gives any confidence that the pilot could fly this clearance, especially if he has any failures in the automation.
Controller deserves a raise. Or a pto day lol
That's Harrison Ford's cousin, Gomer Ford.
05016G24 is fifty degrees off the runway, and 24 knots. Pretty savage crosswind component.
That was painful to listen to
Wow… and to think I could be in the same system with him IFR. This guy appears to be a danger. This is not even CLOSE to complicated, and yet he miserably failed it… multiple times.
I am sure there is an FBO on the field. Get out of the airplane and review what you expect before piloting the aircraft
Is this more complicated than usual, or fairly typical for general aviation? I'm not a pilot so have no relative measure.
What? after his instrument ride, he put flying off for a while and bought a Cirrus? How is he even got a sign off on his license? License to die. What are the chance of this flight turning into a bad weather and needing to divert? Good luck.
12:09 "Contact Boston departure," I wanted him to say, "What's the frequency?"
How embarrassing when an SR22 is greater than you.
Oh, I’m sure things get easier for him once he switched over to Boston Departure 😂
Is he still in the air?
He could have walked and been there already.
11:45 I would be scared out of my mind giving him takeoff clearance.
I used to always have a laminated clearance card so I knew I wasn’t missing anything. Get your head out of the electronics and write the shit down. No way this guy passed a real instrument check ride.
This was one of the worst interactions of the kind I've ever heard. He would have been given my supervisor's phone number after the first pathetic attempt at a read back. There's no way I would trust this guy to follow instructions in flight, he's clearly a hazard to everyone else in the sky.
Why is this guy even allowed to fly?
never had a flight plann that long.
My guess is he has terrible vision and can't read it
LOL! 🤣
That was hilarious! 😁
Should have called the cops.
that is some really sad radio work :-(
Well this explains a lot to me, when pilots like this one are holding an IFR license in the US,😮
Loved the Boston accents. Hated this so-called instrument rated pilot’s amazing incompetence. No way that once he took off he followed the clearance properly. This guy should be sent back to get his instrument rating again… or lose it entirely.
How is this guy able to deal with a real workload when flying IFR
Does this guy have a licence and a radio qualification?
He has a fishing license and an AM radio. He's good.
I really need to get my IR.
Not a pilot or ATC but that guy was trying my patience , the longer he got mixed up . Think he should seriously consider another occupation . About as safe as an unexploded bomb .
ATC should not release this guy. If he can't copy a clearance, he shouldn't be flying a plane.
This is making my brain hurt….
3:01 I'm already wondering who signed him off.
Christ on a bike, isn't it reassuring to know you're sharing the airways system with that? How in the hell did he get an instrument rating, is the FAA delegating flight exams to candidates now?
And I haven't even got to the part where he moves yet.
if i was that pilot , i think i would of said ya know what , ill think ill just take a bus there !
Yikes!
Apparently, Jerry Lewis has come back from the dead and has taken up general aviation
Unbelievable
