An alternative meeting the same requirements (small footprint, anchored to in-bed ball, works with standard king pin without adapter, moderate weight) is the Demco Recon (gooseneck version). It is constructed like the Blue Ox BXR2100 (double-pivot head on single column in pyramid base) and has the same capacity, but has a conventional plate-and-jaws head so it is hitched by backing in as with any other conventional fifth-wheel. It weighs about the same as the Blue Ox BXR2100.
Looking at your video and replies You still happy with the hitch? I am leaning towards one of these Have a short bed f350 was thinking about an offset ball to to give a little more space Thanks for the videos
After one year, are you still using the blue ox hitch. How long is your truck bed and any limitations with turning? I just purchased the blue ox hitch but am considering returning it.
Hi, I am trying to decide between curt crosswind and blue ox, did you compare those 2 when you decided. I really like not having to add an adapter to king pin, curt is about 400 cheaper. Do you have any regrets with your purchase? Still no chucking? My truck sits up so high from factory. 24 gmc 350 srw, dimiar to your height. Did you have to drop hitch to lowest height?
We love it, no issues. We didn’t want to add the king pin adapter either. We set just low enough to shut Tonneau cover and worked out perfect. Every truck and trailer are going to be a little different.
Hello I am new to towing a fifth wheel and the dealership advised me to purchase the BXR 2100 along with the BW turnball system- my question is , should the trailer feel like it’s surging forward and backward ? It’s like the trailer is pushing and pulling the truck . Does yours do this?
I don't back up that well, right now I have a slider hitch and it's not a problem with hitting the cab. If I go to the blue ox, would I be able to make a 90° turn. I have a jayco eagle 34 feet. I'd like to hitch but I'd be worried about hitting the cab. How would I find out if I can make 90° turns with not a problem because when you don't back up that will sometimes you get in a bind in a bind is getting in a 90° position lol thank you so much. Slider hitch I have the weight is almost 300 pounds that would be the main reason I'd like to make a change. Thank you so much.
Each 5th wheel is built a little different but i’m 99% sure this will 90 degree on my rig. The weight savings is great, and pretty easy to take out if needed. The king pin sits about 4” behind the Gooseneck ball so it gives you a little bit more clearance. If you don’t have a tonneau cover you can see and line up the king pin. Hope that helps 👍
The design of the hitch has nothing to do with how tightly you can turn without the trailer hitting the cab - that's just a matter of the king pin location.

I looked into it but saw too many bad reviews about chucking and noisy. BXR2100 doesn’t have any of those issues.
Thanks,@@saltytrips.
Hey man I love your videos, thank you for all the information you post 🙏

No, i don’t feel any chucking at all, make sure everything is torqued down to specs.
@@saltytripsI’m betting it because you have a better king pin box - I doubt my stock curt king pin box is as good- what king pin box do you use?

I have a F250 lariat my bed is 6'8" and it's a super crew cab. I hope that helps and thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.
I would like to know well I need a new king pin? Or can I use the same one that I've been using for the slider hitch? Thanks again.
@@alvinbrown4295 … King Pin is a standard size, the Blue Ox BXR2100 will work with any King Pin.
