The reason that the CGI looks so good is because they actually gave the visual effects artists enough time to finish their work and make sure it looks beautiful unlike Marvel where they crunch and work their artists to death. Crazy how when you give them more time, they create a better product. Mind-blowing stuff right there.
The dude's obsessions are with oceanography, filmmaking and special effects progression. James Cameron knows what being underwater looks like. Seems like it would be easy, but James Wan apparently didn't know what being underwater looked like when he made Aquaman.
@@senatorarmstrong2100 yeah but they obviously gave more time to Cameron to make this movie than the Marvel machine which just pumps out movies every 3 months
The fact that Charlie didn't say "slapped my expectations way out of the water" and he instead said "slapped my expectations right out of the park" is gonna keep me up at night for weeks.
Gamora was introduced then portrayed in 4, almost 5, movies before Avatar 2 came out. She didn't even start playing Gamora until 5 years after Avatar 1.
As someone who is really interested in speculative zoology I find Avatar simply amazing, it has lore for almost all plants and animals that you can see on screen. The over all biology and technology is scientifically accurate and last of all I think the characters actually fit in to the universe and aren't as shallow as people think they are.
Have you played Monster Hunter? It's pretty good with the speculative zoology, all the monsters and their behaviour are biologically justified with lots of details
I think Jake nailed Spider's description in the beginning of the movie: he's like a stray cat, basically just adapting to whatever environment he finds himself thrown into to survive
@@infernious track record of regression in quality in big budget superhero movies & shows especially in the last 3 years of Phase 4 need i provide more context than that? no
From the reviews I’ve seen, it sounds like ridiculously overhyped due to its cgi, just like the first Avatar movie. Great cgi/visual for a barebones script and characters you couldn’t really care about. I’ll save my money until it comes to streaming
The coolest part about this movie is the fact that they developed Na’vi Sign Language that can be learned by anyone! The Avatar is just amazing from a linguistic or even a world building standpoint.
I wish Charlie released full spoiler reviews alongside his normal moist meters. I’m curious to see him get into the weeds of it. Either way loved the first movie (mainly the visual spectacle of it) and this one was exactly what I wanted it to be. Another visual masterpiece with enough of a story to make the time fly by.
With the spider situation I think a part of that story was him being confused as well, he doesn’t know what he wants. He’s kinda with his dad and is clearly learning the ways of the humans but didn’t like how brutal they were. I think his story was a great way to show the audience it was hard for him
I agree and I feel they did that on purpose to set up for the next movies. I feel that he’s going to be another conflict due to his identity crisis of being a human but raised with Navi. Like he’s going to be a bridge of some sorts but obviously with Natiri not liking him so much, there will be issues.
I think they also at least mention Jake's oddly strict nature at some point during the film in saying that he's had these experiences before as in the first film - here he's become overly cautious and must learn some level of balance by the end.
From first impressions I thought he was under developed and his motivations just confused me (rejecting capturerers > playing along with them (to not get killed?) > getting taken hostage by his own mom > saving the villain + leaving him right after (??? Why?) > somehow accepted back into the family despite the mother clearly not accepting him and going as far as threatening his life.
The sad part is that the CGI in these movies is just James Cameron letting the CGI artists actually do their job properly to the fullest of their ability and with the resources they need. This is what every movie could look like.
Somewhat disagree. Things like art direction and cinematography matter a lot, and it's absolutely spot on in this film. And the director being in touch with how the VFX work within the film is also important. The rushed corporate garbage we get from a lot of blockbusters is certainly making films look worse and horribly generic, but I think Cameron is a big reason why the visuals are so great. Also, the budget in this movie is utterly insane and it has a hugely protracted production timeline. I do wish they could give artists more time and freedom, but not every movie is going to get the privlidge of a $400 million budget and a 13 year production schedule.
@@K1ng_ib she wasn't actually going to kill him. She was just using him as an emotional advantage. That's why after Miles gave back their son she pushed spider behind her with the rest of her kids. Her doing that last act after was the key point to prove that
This. I actually watched some Avatar 1 clips after seeing Avatar 2 in movies and even though Avatar 1 still holds up it still looked pretty weird and fake compared to what I just saw in Avatar 2. Actually crazy how good the CGI is.
The whole point of Spider is that he's in the middle. He's supposed to make you question what could happen and what SHOULD happen. I actually loved that his character makes you actually question his situation. This level of moral dilemma decision making from the audience is something that modern movies lack.
I liked him but he was so shallow. I’m sure there’s tons of backstory and emotional turmoil he was feeling, but the movie doesn’t show it and you’re left to guess. The main thing I got from his character is that he loves screaming “stop!” And “no!” A lot
I don't know, I get that Spider is stuck between human & Na'vi but I feel like for the majority of the movie he's nudged in the direction of being more Na'vi than human. He does his damndest to protect the villages and jake's whereabouts, his friends, etc, which is why I was so thrown off when he suddenly decided to rescue Quaritch despite showing no care for him (even if he's his son) at any point prior. It's one of my major critiques of WOW and I think it really toppled what was mostly a badass character :(
@@unwllllngly I think he just bdid it cause he thought it was right and also due to the fact that the mom legit was threatening to kill him earlier lol
I think what you described about spider is the entire point of his character, sometimes he helps the Na'vi and sometimes he helps the military goons, his whole character is that he doesn't know what he wants, in reality he is human but he was raised by the Na'vi, he feels conflicted inside himself on what he wants to do and who his allegiance is towards. Also hearing Charles say the plot of the first Avatar movie was "save the trees" really hurt me inside
More or less Spider didn't seem to be fully accepted as an equal either. Both sides left him feeling kinda lonely at some point, but of course the goons were way worse so he didn't choose to be with them. And then the fact he's so open ended and young, I think later his role could be important or at least finalized on a side as he fully becomes an adult.
@@aydenulery9562 I mean star wars, ain't an original idea either, if you strip away the futuristic space fantasy theme. The same goes for Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings, strip aways the fantasy magic and the bare bones story ain't that original. It's the combination of both the "copied" story as well as the genre change that makes the whole. Avatar, if striped of the whole space aliens thing, is just man goes to foreign land and interacts with locals and started doubting the people he had sailed/travelled with to get to foreign land. If you add the fact that the foreign land is actually so fucking foreign that everything is so fucking weird and has different weights in their effect and the locals/natives that are actually aliens that have so much difference in biology that it's hard to understand them, then you have a different story altogether.
@@johngrimm2074 Yeah, save the weird forest people. What you're describing is the setting in which the plot takes place, not the actual plot. The Avatar setting has its dues given to it to flesh it out beyond just "weirdo alien tree huggers" but that should be the bare minimum expected of them, instead of the hype people gave it.
@@eoinmcorks I mean tbh, the hype was overblown, but the hype for me was the actual graphic technology. I mean the first movie is almost always told with the time it was made in mind. You really can't take that away from it.
I was absolutely blown away by this movie, the visuals were on a completely different level from anything I have ever seen before, and that final act was so good
Truth, the story was not good, but the visuals alone made up for it and surprised that it went quick,. U see the last hour goes all out action so it went quick,. It was a 2 hour movie

There were multiple times throughout this movie where I went "OH!" and "HOLY!" I can't remember the last time a movie made me respond audibly. Some of the kills in the movie are really creative and amazing.
Saw it today in 3D! Crazy how incredibly good the CGI was. I don't feel like the 3D added a lot in most scenes, but when it kicked in underwater, that was wild. I love how the practical effects and real people interacted with the Avatars, and how the water looked and behaved in relation to the world. Amazing stuff!
We watched it in 4D and God that was a unique experience, it was fucking fantastic! The only part that got me peeved was when my popcorn fell from my lap when an explosion happened and the chairs rocked around.
@@Optimusprime809 Lmao I got seats in the back of the theatre so I didn't get wet, but I was starting to shiver cuz of the cold air whenever they were flying or diving underwater.
You're absolutely right. Those underwater scenes were truly just... amazing. Fucking mesmerizing. And I was watching it with shit 3d glasses cuz where I'm from, most of the glasses are non-transparent and have a black tint to them which makes everything dark. But even with that the underwater scenes shined. Amazing.
@@Mandate_of_Heaven in my opinion that's what they were going for, visuals over story. That's why they stalled out release, for the underwater graphics to improve.
I like how they kicked the 3rd act off with a surprise raid-boss. Imagine thinking you have total control of a situation and the devs just spawn a level 99 raid boss on your head.
I have to say I agree. Usually long movies make me think at some point "when is this going to end?" but this one I couldn't believe that three hours had passed, I was fully immersed.
Sadly my bladder started disagreeing near the last half hour xD But yeah, they really nailed the pacing, something that Cameron had problems with in alot of his older movies (like that 2,5h cut of The Abyss).
I actually really cared about the family. There are numerous moments where I was actually nervous about if they were going to make it out of their situations. Totally better than the first and rewatches will be awesome.
Lo'ak being chased by that giant shark thing had me on the edge of my seat. I genuinely cared about him and that scene made my heart race. Along with Neytiri going on a bloodthirsty killing spree near the end. Her expressions and screaming gave me chills. That shit was terrifying.
Yeah. Simplicity isn't detrimental to quality. The first Star Wars film is a pretty straightforward plot we've seen a hundred times, but it's not 'bad'
@@onemoreminute0543 Star Wars doesn't have a simple plot. Star Wars has simple characters. The plot ended up being too complex for most Americans. Avatar has zero depth. Avatar is just a well colored, coloring book, and you are all unintelligent apes.

Man complicated things with expensive clothes, cars, money ect. and so many people and the younger generation is finally hitting the point of losing their shit as time goes on and things get more complicated

I think the Colonel will become full Navi at some point. He is already in the Navi body and tells the other soliders they need to become like the Navi. So maybe he disagrees with something in the future and it changes him. He already did by saving his son. And then his sim saving him so maybe in A3 he changes.
@@cmasterson Yeah, I think he will turn against human at some point too, but I think he will die by doing that (like the helicopter pilot from the first movie) because of what he did to the navi, I don't think they will accept him to their kind, thus the plot need to kill him
@@cmasterson SPOILERS: honestly I really can’t get over all of the harm he’s done and from the moment he spared spider I knew he was going to get a redemption down the line. Idk how spider ever warmed up to him.
watching it in IMAX 3D is a MUST. i felt the need to comment just in case it will convince even one person, absolutely worth every penny and completely blew me away, I think it’s definitely the way you need to experience this movie.
It was actually really smart to film multiple movies at the same time imo, as someone who works in the visual effects field Once you are starting to finalize shots you can start working on the next movie, we do it all the time in television and animated shows/movies. Usually when they say "Greenlit for season 2" we have already been working on it for a few months already
It actually has nothing to do with the effects and everything to do with the actors playing the kids are are aging out of their roles so they had to film their scenes now

I especially feel the change in Jake’s character too. Hopefully he will be more proactive in future films. As for Spider, he definitely has the most room for growth as a character, I think he will really influence how the sequels play out.
The first avatar was my childhood movie, I used to watch it over and over and over again. I wanted to be natiri and I even tried to learn how to speak na'vi. So happy the 2nd one is finally out
I remember me and my class watched the first avatar in year 6 a few years after it came out when I was 10. Afterwards I tried to speak navi and I would try to teach my friends how to speak it too. I am going to watch the second one tomorrow I'm excited for it
I went into this film with very low expectations and really ended up enjoying it, the managed to make a 3 hour movie not feel like it's dragging on too much
I couldn't disagree more. I know it's just my own experience, but by the last hour or so i was begging for this movie to end. The last battle scene is so drawn out it hurts. This movie, imo, truly shines in the middle part where we get to learn about the ways of the metkayina.
It was the first CGI based movie I've seen in a while, or ever, where the effects didn't pull me out of it. I can't enjoy the MCU movies when the effects are so silly and rubbery. This movie actually convinced me with its realism, i had to remind myself halfway through that I wasn't actually watching blue people swimming around.
i heard some people say the navi looked more realistic than the humans in this movie and i can’t agree more and the reason is cuz most of the humans were also cgi like whenever spider is interacting with the navi . But the cgi humans in this movie is probably still the best
I'm not a movie-going person at all and usually hate the idea of going to a movie theatre, but I feel like I really have to see this one. Sounds like it's going to be one of those "if you didn't see it in theatres, you haven't properly experienced it" movies. I loved the first one as a kid. Excited to see what the second one brings to the table!
I watched the first right before seeing the second and I do gotta say they captured the vibe easily after so many years later. It was crazy how well it flowed together. 9.5/10
I just cant with the ending what was the whole point just a waste of time they did so many good things with the first one then then they came and shoved a whole fist in it and messed with it
I'll have to watch it again to really solidify my opinion but I was really impressed. The story overall was better, alot more time with the Navi meaning you connect with them more, also helped by the top tier facial animation and great performances. Technically this film is astounding, the thing that will divide people is the story, it's nothing ground breaking and is predictable at times, but again, the performances sell it enough to get me invested. Initially I will give it an 8 out of 10, gonna need a rewatch to absorb all of it, it's ALOT of movie, lol.
I think a big difference between the simplicity of this story and the first movie, is that while this movie does have a simple story, it's not a generic one (the first one was basically Dances with Wolves). This is a heartwarming, family, slice of life story and it makes it more special
I also think people are too quick to slap on the "generic" label because it's similar to another movie. Like how many times has marvel put out essentially the same movie? Most movies rely on tropes, but Avatar has a lot to make it unique.
Somewhere along the lines people began to think that if a story is simple, basic, clichéd, or they can predict it, that it means it's bad, which is not the case at all when the director is actually competent. And the Avatar movies are a visual feast, filled with immersion and spectacle, the story is just a backdrop for the world of pandora
I thought the same about Spider as a character but my wife had an interesting take. Basically, Spider is torn between two worlds. He is human so he knows and sees he is not a true Na'vi, despite being raised with them and the movie even makes a point to say that Neytiri didn't accept him as one of them. Then you introduce his father and he feels drawn to him because he's an outcast and the Colonel made him feel like he belonged. Then they showed his internal struggle when he helped his Dad/Colonel track Jake but was hurt and horrified at the burning of the sea villages.
@@mmeister8582 tbf there were so many characters that it was hard for all of them to be explored closely. Though I agree that Spider was in the background for a lot of the movie, really hammered in that pet vibe lmao
@@mmeister8582 it’s pretty self explanatory though. You kind of could put yourself in his shoes and understand how he probably feels. I didn’t feel like it needed much explaining.
For his interactions with his kids: I wish the next film explores how his relationship with his brother affected his relationship with his sons (being a "wheelchair-bound ex-marine" while his brother gets to go to another planet) and how he'll open up to his children after [REDACTED].
For me what makes this one so much better than the first one is the emotional connection you feel towards their family. In the first one you're just mostly awed by the groundbreaking CGI and visual effects but in this sequel "The Way of the Water" it connects much deeper on an emotional level. Watching felt as if I was a part of the family and felt the ups and downs they went through throughout the entirety of the movie. Yes, the storyline is simple (Which is what makes it work so well and is able to attract a global audience IMO) and the way they blend the incredible CGI (As expected from Jim Cameron) and the deeper tonality in this one is what sold me on this franchise. The messages behind the Ocean's vulnerability also hits home with our world today as most of the main Avatar themes do. It's another classic Cameron film. Highly recommend watching this movie especially if you enjoyed the first one! I really am enthusiastic for this Avatar Saga and can't wait to see it be concluded as its own story. I'm incredibly excited about the next films!

Nobody’s going to see this but one of my favorite things about the Avatar is the physical differences between the water Na’vi and the forest Na’vi. The water Na’vi have bigger, stronger tails, wider forearms, and a lighter “aqua” complexion that gives them more camouflage in the sea. It shows how evolution would affect the Na’vi over time in different environments. The Na’vi are all the same in their location. And that makes sense. We don’t have random white or green Na’vi chilling with the water Na’vi. I’m looking at you Rings of Power. It makes no sense that the Harfoot tribe of like 30 people have black, half black, Latino, and white people…
YESSS james cameron really put everything into it like even the plants on Pandora follow the laws of physics and everything is just so well thought out, different tribes have different physiques based on where they live, also how the metkayina have a second eyelid to protect there eyes from the water SO COOLLL

I came close a few times. I can't entirely explain why but I definitely felt more of an emotional connection to the characters in this film than the first one, I was legitimately anxious when one of the Sullies were in danger.
James Cameron waited for some of the technology to actually film underwater to become really advanced in order to make the visuals as good as he was able to do in this movie which is one of the reasons why it took so long to do, all visuals underwater were actually filmed underwater, its an absolute masterpiece and I haven’t even seen it in 3D yet, but will be soon

Knowing how big of an ego Cameron has, I wasn't ngl, ofc he'd try to market on his success even more lol(even if there wasn't really a need for a sequel)
Way of water touches on how colonizers are coming from a land that is dying to start a new home for their families, whilst the same time the indigenous having to fight for their own home and families. The dualities of the two fathers. Quaritch's rebirth. Sons who are rebellious. Pandora being a world where everyone is literally living in harmony and connected to nature vs the humans. Idk alot of great themes and small details. Loved the how James Cameron captured the child like fascination with nature and water. Loved the small detail of how the whales slap the water with their little fin to call one another. I believe the substance is very much there. People are so dead inside these days they don't really pick up on the nuance of the family experience the first watch. It's definitely the same story, but it really sets the stage for the next sequel.
In context to America, generational trauma, racial tensions, and also the epidemic of father less families and then also the idea of earth as mother and human as father and environment awareness. I think as an artist and director Cameron is pretty cunning tying all these themes together in the world we are very much living.
I agree with your assessment for the most part except for the perfect harmony thing. We do see a bit of discrimination against Jake's family cause they're different, which leads up to some of the young ones leading Lo'ak into what's essentially a deathtrap. They definitely have a deep connection to their homeworld and live alongside nature, but I wouldn't necessarily describe it as perfect harmony
Yeah, although seeing how humans act even towards others of their own species, it’s kinda unrealistic how tame the humans are there. No cut off limbs as punishment, no proper executions of the na‘vi. Just saying that’s absolutely how humans act irl :/
I already watched it twice in imax 3d, it's so stunning. The few flaws I noticed while watching, I completely forgot by the end, cuz it was such an overwhelmingly impressive cinematic experience.
I watched Way Of Water yesterday and I LOVED it! I haven't been to the theaters since the pandemic started, and I was able to see it in IMAX 3D. All of us in the theater were like doing the quiet laughs and cheers that you do in a theater when stuff happened. And yes, that last hour is INTENSE!!! Very good movie, I'm looking forward to the next one to see how things play out.
Honestly Critical is one of the very few movie reviewers I trust now. He doesn't view the movie through a very biased lens, like so many other reviewers are doing, and always accepts the raw experience a film gives him to properly understand if it's good or not. So it gives me great joy that he Liked Avatar 2. We truly are living in a great time where movies like Avatar and Dune will come out every winter and wow us with their presentation.
charlie seems willing to actually enjoy media if theres something to enjoy, thats such a weird stance to have. i think we've gotten so used to media being made by rich and incompetent people who hates us and everything we love. i honestly wasnt paying attention to avatar 2 because of that. big budget movie series franchise just sounds like something thats bound to be ass
For reals. I can understand people being skeptical of the quality of a film nowadays. But so many people seem to be deciding that the film is bad before they even watch it and then they have a bad experience with the film because they're only seeing it's faults. So you get reviewers saying it boring, the story's too simple, which is supposed to mean the story's bad apparently, and then try to make people not see the film because they think people will have the same miserable experience they chose to have. First of all, so many films they enjoy are simple stories. The reason they weren't whining about those films stories is because they accepted the experience of the film without a mental filter. So if they decided to let go of the negative view they made prior to the film, they would have liked it much more.
"Spider's character was confusing" Yeah, he's like 15 and caught in the middle of a war with people he clearly cares about (and people who care about him) on both sides of that war.
The reasons why weren’t as fleshed out imo. And for a lot, it would just seem like he would randomly shift allegiance without fleshing why his motivations would change. I agree with Charlie here. Just my opinion
I really wish I hadn't seen it in the IMAX funnily enough. 3D still isn't up to scratch due to dual image/blurry image in some areas of the screen. But worst of all was the mixed framerate. Going from HFR to 24fps was so jarring and completely took away from the visuals due to it being so choppy (which I think 3D exacerbated)
For a movie that takes place in the sea, I really found it strange for Cameron to introduce Toph at this time. I'm sure we'll get to see her earth bending in the next film.
Watched it in 3D HFR right in the middle seat of the theather and it was an amazing experience. There were so many moments I was so immersed and engaged that it actually felt like I was in a simulation or an extremely advanced VR rig. Good job to all the creatives involved 👏
I can’t believe the movie ended with Jake saying “It’s Sullyin’ Time” and then Sullying all over the Pandorian Ocean. Brings a tear to my eye just remembering it.
I really like the setting change all the aquatic animals were really cool especially the “whales”(I forget what they were called). Just the separate story with the whales too was awesome as well as how that all came together at the end.
The Tulkun. They were awesome especially the outcast Tulkun, Payakan that bonded with Lo'ak(Jake's younger son). The scene where Payakan went mad and trashed the hunting ships and boats was amazing.
@@Cryozen95 that was my favorite fight scene. Payakan was really showing how smart those animals are, it was pretty cool to see the poachers arm fly off too 😭.
The Whaliens are a nice deconstruction of the intelligent citations trope, used well with the bonding of the Metkayina clan as spirit brothers and sisters, showing how Navi understand that higher intelligence comes in all shapes and sizes.
@@Bionickpunk yeah absolutely ! It reminded me a lot of Moby Dick especially with how the outcast was missing a fin and survived kinda like the captain in the story.

My computer graphics professor was a top consultant for the cgi in this film. He told us they had been working extremely hard on this film and was super excited for it to come to theaters. Even just the time to render one frame commonly took 8-16 hours and sometimes more
Uhm, really?, What Engine did they use, that doesn't make much sense, Technology has advanced to the point it takes a few minutes to render a realistic frame, Also with their budget I believe they use their personal render farms which contain a lot of GPUs, Like a lot... @@HaelinX bruh, respectfully, you have no idea what you're talking about. The reason that the CGI looks so good is because they actually gave the visual effects artists enough time to finish their work and make sure it looks beautiful unlike Marvel where they crunch and work their artists to death. Crazy how when you give them more time, they create a better product. Mind-blowing stuff right there.

As someone who is really interested in speculative zoology I find Avatar simply amazing, it has lore for almost all plants and animals that you can see on screen. The over all biology and technology is scientifically accurate and last of all I think the characters actually fit in to the universe and aren't as shallow as people think they are.
Right‽
the lore of the moon and its people is absolutely amazing, a lot of it hasnt yet been seen in the movies and is in secondary medias

I think Jake nailed Spider's description in the beginning of the movie: he's like a stray cat, basically just adapting to whatever environment he finds himself thrown into to survive
Perfectly sums him up
All spider did was teach his biological dad how to tame the flying beasts. Everything else was him fighting the humans

@@RoganClipVaultYT he should do that
With the spider situation I think a part of that story was him being confused as well, he doesn’t know what he wants.
Jake is a pretty shitty dad tbh.
Kinda like Zuko, huh?
From first impressions I thought he was under developed and his motivations just confused me (rejecting capturerers > playing along with them (to not get killed?) > getting taken hostage by his own mom > saving the villain + leaving him right after (??? Why?) > somehow accepted back into the family despite the mother clearly not accepting him and going as far as threatening his life.
The sad part is that the CGI in these movies is just James Cameron letting the CGI artists actually do their job properly to the fullest of their ability and with the resources they need.
This is what every movie could look like.
Yup, I would rather have to wait years for every movie ever than have a big company poop out a movie every 3 months
That's what free market of ideas does
I mean gimme 5 full years to do cgi and i probably could
Somewhat disagree.

Avatar, if striped of the whole space aliens thing, is just man goes to foreign land and interacts with locals and started doubting the people he had sailed/travelled with to get to foreign land. I watched the first right before seeing the second and I do gotta say they captured the vibe easily after so many years later. It was crazy how well it flowed together. 9.5/10
I just cant with the ending what was the whole point just a waste of time they did so many good things with the first one then then they came and shoved a whole fist in it and messed with it
Well he's been working on the other 3 since the first one.
9? The story was kinda bad
@OocSNKZ nice justification for lazy writing
the underwater scenes were so beautiful
I think a big difference between the simplicity of this story and the first movie, is that while this movie does have a simple story, it's not a generic one (the first one was basically Dances with Wolves). This is a heartwarming, family, slice of life story and it makes it more special
i havent seen dance with wolves but avatar 1 is essentially pocahontas which came out before ( and somewhat based on real events)
I also think people are too quick to slap on the "generic" label because it's similar to another movie. Like how many times has marvel put out essentially the same movie? Most movies rely on tropes, but Avatar has a lot to make it unique.
@@GreenGiant400 Which begs the question, how many stories are there really, and how many different ways can we tell said same stories?
@@GreenGiant400 Because mass produced Marvel films are the benchmark of original movies...
@@GreenGiant400 They have a rare mineral that's literally called "unobtainium". That is the single most generic idea I've ever heard, as an example.
Simplicity in a story isn't a bad thing it doesn't need to be way over the top to be a feel good story. Can't wait to see it.
It’s a basic plot and basically the same as the last film but they did a good job with the characters. The family aspect basically carried the story
@@morbincentral3607 it was basic but also complex, a lot of new stuff seeded in there that made it really nice
Exactly! Top Gun Maverick also had a simple plot, but it also became the highest-grossing film of the year!

This movie felt like an hour I couldn't believe how fast it went
It felt like there weren't any scenes that were appropriate for going to the restroom!
I know. I read reviews about a drawn out ending but imo it ended suddenly!
The thing is that he turned way too quickly, it should have been explored way more.
@@mmeister8582 tbf there were so many characters that it was hard for all of them to be explored closely. Though I agree that Spider was in the background for a lot of the movie, really hammered in that pet vibe lmao

This one didn't get lost in the message like the first one did. Avatar 1 felt so preachy that it just wasn't as enjoyable. It was basically a less fun FernGully.
@@blaynegreiner9365 I enjoyed the first one. But this one just felt more complete. More characters and their dynamics together as a family worked so well.

Watched it in IMAX 3D HFR : it was just mesmerizing. It was truly the best experience I had in a theatre.

My computer graphics professor was a top consultant for the cgi in this film. He told us they had been working extremely hard on this film and was super excited for it to come to theaters. Even just the time to render one frame commonly took 8-16 hours and sometimes more
That’s insane. Just for one frame? Really love Cameron’s truly insane production value
