Bob, I'm catching up to some of your older videos now that I've discovered your channel and have been watching for a few months. I always try to make the livestream on Thursdays, but I have to say, if you were one of my heroes before...well...you just solidified your spot with your Cold Steel videos! Here's why...I love Cold Steel stuff...I'm sure I've already commented that I just passed one of collecting and have picked up well over 250 knives, but I don't think I ever mentioned that 78 of them have been Cold Steels!
This is the first Vaquero Grande of this age I have seen on the Tube. I happen to have an even older one, I think it's from the first production run, and it's the Vaquero Grande with 6" blade. It is made in Japan, has no jimping on the back of the blade and no pocket clip. It came with a sheet for belt carry. I fell in love with this gigant folder and EDC'd it from the day I purchased it, but never with the sheet. It happened that I was not able to find the knife some day, and I was pretty pissed about that. So my brother decided to buy me one as a birthday gift, what made me real happy again. This one is the very same as yours, jimping, and it had a pocket clip. Short time later I found my first Vaquero Grande again, it just was in a jeans jacket I used to wear in springtime or harvest and was hanging in the closet during wintertime. So now I have two Vaquero Grande with 6" blade, that are in EDC rotation together with a TiLite 6" in GrivEx and a Luzon Large. I am on the way to get me some more huge Cold Steel folding knifes, dreaming of a Espada G10 XL with the 7.5" blade, a Rajah II and a Counter Point XL. I hope that I'll have some luck and find a Talwar XL. I started my Cold Steel collection in 1990 with a fixed blade, my trusty Trail Master in Carbon V, followed by two San Mai Tantos, followed by Bowie blades and other fixed blades like the Culloden, building up a huge collection of Cold Steel fixed blades. Greetings from Germany.
Glad I found this...I'm planning on making a sizeable...for me...purchase from both Cold Steel and Amazon of C S sale items and non sale items...filling up a collection...great information and good to see them in one place..
I had one of those original voyagers with the tanto blade, carried it every day for 16 years before the back lock finally went out.....that knife did EVERYTHING. .....kept it in my car for 2 more years before it was stolen
i have tons of knives from cold steel to customs... one of my favorites believe it or not, is the xl voyager clip point lol its like my man town kitchen buddy. I was looking at that KME, Im glad you like it .. cheers broheim
I still have and carry two of those Vaquero Grande. One of maybe the first production run without clip, and the other some years later, still called Vaquero Grande, but with a clip. I am searching for a Rajah II, not easy to find in Germany. My latest purchase was a Luzon Large, I'm a sucker for clip point blades. Next two month there will be a TiLite 6", a Talwar XL, and I am looking for a G 10 Espada XL. Because I am a sucker for clip point blades.... Aaah, and I found a brand new Wild West Bowie that is allready on the way - and that will be a perfect match to my old Trail Master in Carbon V. You, Sir, have a great collection.
Thank you! I always regretted not getting the Talwar XL when I had the chance. I am also a clip-point fiend. Also, I love Germany, haven't been there in years but I hope all is well there.
This is one of my favorites of your videos, and on that note, I just purchased my third Recon 1 -this time the S35VN Tanto (already had the CTS and S35 Clip Point).
nice blades I had the grande vaquero at 13.25 inches open a monster. not to front or rear povkrt6 friendly love the no dogsled curved blade.had bgg thd triple action tanto.never hsd6 a Voyager but the tests it's done just sold me over lol
I love cold steel cool to see some of the older ones you have jealous you have XL recon one. I have over sixty cold steel knives by far my favorite knives. Edc for work is Voyager VaqueroXL full serrations cuts everything from cardboard to steel banding. Edc not working I rotate through all my knives.
@@TheKnifeJunkie It's my utility EDC...my other EDC is the 6 in Hold Out - also bought when it too was discontinued; actually I bought two of them the plain edge - my carry and the serrated edge for my wife...
XL Voyager Vaquero is the best one, lightweight with a big nasty blade and it carrys like a normal pocket knife. Amazing design for a self defense carry knife. Possibly the best.
Wow nice collection! I have a lot of the same knives and if I really like the knife i buy a duplicate just in case. Of all my different brands i end up carrying a Cold Steel most of the time for defense.
Awesome collection so far! Can't wait to see the other parts of this series. I'm happy to see you love the big folders too, I carry a rajah 2, espada xl, or large luzon every day. You gotta check out that large luzon, I love it. It's light, super smooth opening (it's fun to use a flipper on a knife that size), and a crazy value for the price. Subbed!
Thanks for the kind words and the tip about the Luzon -- I keep not getting it for one reason or the other. Love to here you carry on of these monsters every day!
I just picked up my first Cold Steel and it's the Tiger Claw, my next Cold Steel will the the Espada large. The Recon Tanto will be my third. After getting my first Cold Steel I became a fan, you can feel the quality. What are your 3 favorite knives in order.
@@TheKnifeJunkie I have gotten addicted to collecting them and I use them as well, super durable knives. I just hope the quality of cold steel stays the same since they sold the company
Thanks...tried a Google for pocket snagger with no results I've got a CS 6 in Hold Out and if I get the XL Vaquero I'll want a snagger on it...looming at the Spartan as well which has the Demko thumbplate...
My mini cold steel folders are, Recon 1 Spear Point OD Green CTS-XHP,(DLC Coating) Recon 1 Tanto Point Half Serrated CTS-XHP(DLC Coating, interesting blade which doesn't show/printed cts xhp on blade but with Lynn Thompson Signature on the box for verification), AK-47 CTS-XHP Coyote Tan(DLC Coating), New Gunsite AUS10A, Code 4 Tanto Point CTS-XHP, Steve Austin Broken Skull Cayote Tan CTS-XHP(don't really like this blade profile), Rajah 3 CTS BD1, Hold Out 2 CTS-XHP Coyote Tan DLC Coating(this is my most favourite blade but it's gone, abused it thoroughly and broke the tip. Lynn Thompson was so nice that he emailed my seller in my country for credit refund, sad that no more available stock) My 3 most favourite folders, Talwar 4 inch CTS-XHP fully serrated, Black Talon 2 CTS-XHP fully serrated, Tiger Claw CTS-XHP fully serrated Then my 2 Micro Recon, one Tanto Point and one Spear Point steel mention on the box: 4034SS(frankly speaking, it doesn't hold its edge well at all for this steel) both using as my key chains for opening parcel, small chores like cutting string etc.... 😂 Many of the Cold Steel Folders that I had missed purchasing, so sad to say the fact that they aren't available anymore... Even certain blades like American Lawman, steel changed to S35VN(not sure good or not, only seen RUclips reviews that is OK). Somehow after Lynn Thompson sold Cold Steel away, it is like the soul of Cold Steel blades gone. In the knives community, mostly either simply love Cold Steel or hate Cold Steel... Most of the reason is because of those videos slashing carcasses, Lynn Thompson way of speech, many cold steel blades profile meant for tactical usage, like black Talon 2, Tiger Claw, espada etc etc... That's what cold steel fanatics live for what it was supposed to be.. A simple normal blade like Immortal, now also no longer production just becos current owner or some customers find it not much use for edc. For many cold steel fanatics, edc is one factor , another factor is the aggressive blade profile. For many of cold steel folders price, they are considered cheap compared to many other brands of quality, durability, sharpness etc... The motto of cold steel Anytime(🗡️) Anywhere somehow gone 😭 I cherish and feel fortunate although mini collection of the folders I have now.... Enjoy the blades collection everyone. Stay safe, be healthy during this pandemic period 😊😊😊
There is no AD5 but the main difference between the AD10 and AD15 is the lock type: the former having the Tri-Ad lock and the latter having a Scorpion lock. There are other differences but I'd say that is the defining one.

I would say it takes a certain mind frame to fully appreciate the CS designs. I, in theory, have moved on to more "high-end" and mature designs and material for the knives I get most excited about now. I like a lot a lot your collection, i like cold steel, but last models are less original than some years ago. I like a lot the voyager clip and tanto, spartan, recon one and some more... But 11 cm is the máximum blade you can have out of your house in my country, some cold steel are illegal out of home.
i get pink options for knives for the same reason, they're usually cheaper, and DEFINITELY more disarming and less threatening. Can't tell you how many girls will say "oh how cute" to my cheap dragon flipper in pink! Also, I looked up the pink broken skull, they're all $80, can anyone post if they do indeed find the cheaper pink handled one, i'm on it!
Ordering my first cold steel which will be the AD-15 this week after that will be AK-47 then AD-10. You can't buy knives like this in New York any more everything is illegal now.

DONT WORRY BRO, MOST RIKERS POPULATION IS OUT ON THE STREET BY NOW AS PER DERETARDZIO ORDERS... SO STACK UP ON ALL YOUR FAVORITE WEAPONS.
No Doubt! Could a dipshit mayor ask for any more trouble if he tried?
Which one is your favorite
Probably the … I don't know. Maybe the XL Espada that by brother got me. They're all so freaking cool though...
I like a lot a lot your collection, i like cold steel, but last models are less original than some years ago. I like a lot the voyager clip and tanto, spartan, recon one and some more...
But 11 cm is the máximum blade you can have out of your house in my country, some cold steel are illegal out of home.
20:25 🤣🤣🤣 seriously...|¦ Yeah, Yeah!
I love the Ad15 and Ad10. Carry the Ultimate Hunter in ctsxhp. Baby brother too Ad10
Been meaning to get an Ultimate Hunter, cool knife.
Love cold steel, only thing I hate is their pocket clips
I hear that, but even their pocket clips can be brought to heal with a little sand paper and pair of plyers!
you the man, but get your hand on the colossus.
Need a Colossus and an Immortal for sure!
i get pink options for knives for the same reason, they're usually cheaper, and DEFINITELY more disarming and less threatening. Can't tell you how many girls will say "oh how cute" to my cheap dragon flipper in pink!
Also, I looked up the pink broken skull, they're all $80, can anyone post if they do indeed find the cheaper pink handled one, i'm on it!
I actually like the way a pink handle looks with a black blade. And yes, people seem to take pink knives less seriously!
If you’re ever looking to sell a recon xl, I’ve been trying to find one forever it seems :(
Calling 1-800-KNI-ABUSE 😜😂🤣
I have not yet admitted that I have a problem, but I will keep that number handy.
Ordering my first cold steel which will be the AD-15 this week after that will be AK-47 then AD-10. You can't buy knives like this in New York any more everything is illegal now.
Well done, there's no stopping you now! And yes, unfortunately NYC is a knife desert!
Are they banned outright?
Or is it like here in the UK where you just can't carry them in most cases
@@lukemcinerny8220 You can't carry them in most places in the US, but they are legal to own in most places here.
espada xl is the most impressive folder ever
Camping and grilling tofu? She would have to be the MOST Beautiful girl on the planet. Otherwise NEXT!
Eating the wrong foods and eating the wrong girlfriend
That ended up being 100% true.
