Man this is so good! I wish I could have experienced this era of music live! The keyboard, the heavy base, the clothes, all those people partying. Amazing!
Los Angeles, October 17 1968. Filmed the day prior to their 2 day stint at the Inglewood Forum (October 18,19) supporting CREAM who were on their farewell tour. A rough sounding audio and even rougher grainier video exists of their October 18th show, which has survived all these years and is available online.
What a marvelous social time-capsule. Mixing races in a social setting was so taboo back then. Ritchie actually smiled, oh my God! Ritchie is so well known for playing his Strats. He's playing a Gibson (ES-335?) here. So awesome. (My young daughter was watching the video with me and asked if the dancers "have epilepsy or something.")
Acidlepsy. 😀
Indeed! (Chit, you trippin') 😀
@@fredacuneo5180 .
Bailaban como el cuerpo sentía la música.
😀👍🇲🇽
Lol ! good one ! Awesome bit with Jon at the end. Not the first time the haunted house has been brought up. I believe Jon.
Ritchie Blackmore teaching Hugh how to play guitar. Hugh had it all, huh?
That’s a lot of gain for that time Ritchie! I like
Deep Purple colocando a galera pra dançar... Sensacional!!!
how the hell have I never seen this...damn!!!!!!!!
Little known fact. Hugh Hefner actually plays the lead solo in Child in Time.
I thought he sang the change of octave part
those are Hugh's lyrics he wrote on back of Barbie Benton panties.. paid off well.
Groovy Baby
THE deep purple 😂😂
What a great piece of nostalgia.... Purple just 2 years before they became one of the Heavy Metal Pioneers with In Rock
This one take place on October 23th 1968, In Rock was recorded on October '69. One year between them. Purple 1st mark was pretty heavy anyway. Just no screaming pigs.
Nice! Amazing quality!!
Groovy - where's Austin Powers?! Shame there isn't more of the song shown.
Legendary.
Everything about this footage is nicely eerie. Purple's music... the talk of the haunting of Deeves Hall... and the way Hefner talks about "those strange manifestations", and sounds as if he's saying "those strange men at the station", echoing Purple's auditioning process. PS Hefner: "Next week, The Led Zeppelin!"
The world was a much better place to live at that time ;(
They were groovy times.
And the Address ....amazing Purple song. Mach I had some really innovative and great music!!! Check out their version of Help on RUclips!!
Yes indeed so so cool at Hef’s place and seeing Rod Evans and Nick Simper before they left and Lord and Blackmore and Paice, what an era! It reminds me when Strawberry Alarm Clock was playing in that Valley of the Dolls movie. Anything was possible then 😃
The fashions are so crazy part lounge crooner for some part crazy hippy for others. Yes it went totally insane with flares collars and colours in the 70s but this era was nuts too
RIP Hef!
The Deep Purple are here, y'all. Do the funky chicken.
The dancing looks like Dawn Of The Dead at the wrong speed.
Ritchie is cooperative, and Jon is hilarious.
Felt a bit sorry for Hugh Hefner, he was doing his best.
Playtime 2:13 there ist Hugh Heffners best guitarsolo, congratulations dude.
Cool :))))
I bet Rod was fired for wearing those pants.
i would fire his ass as well.
He was there best singer.
@@paulcooper5748 He was there alright, but he missed his cue so many times that the song ended without his singing a note.
This is fucking brilliant, I have to say though, Nick Simpers hair reminds me of OddBod from Carry On Screaming
When you see black folks dancing to deep purple, that's when you know, they had some serious funk and soul..
Finally I found Blackmore.
👍👍👍👍🤩
Ja!!!
Rod Evans was such a chooch.
Born in 1969 here. Surely people were beautiful and classy back then. Look at today’s irate elves ready for scaring the very Count Dracula.
Always thought Rod was a taller dude. He was a male model before Purple. He looks a lot shorter than Blackmore and Simper onstage.
Ritchie was jealous so he sawed him off at the knees.
@@euanelliott8068: Good answer!
DVD "Deep Purple-History,Hits & Highlights-68-76"
Check out all the audio equipment in the wall
🌎Hefner: "Next week, The Led Zeppelin, also from England." Deeves Hall, Herts., the house mentioned, is known for being haunted . It's close to Knebworth!🌏
Oh man great footage of deep purple in diapers ! Lol
Loved the video
Where can i watch the whole thing?
yes please

This picks up where the other left off....

Connie Greski? What a pretty woman.
The dancing makes me laugh, is that what's known as " grooving ?"
And the adress!!
Even back then we were diverse. What's the problem?
Ritchie was like "Now, i'll grab my gui..Shit!" 2:10
dad of snoop dogg 1:17
is it young Snoop Dogg in the beginning of the video?))
Connie is hot... Jacky’s stance is so.. uhum. Hef is cool and DP is awesome.
i bet Gillan missed that moment lol
That woman at 0.19 hot dam.
Ritchie was supposed to learn Hugh how to play guitar
Maul 2005 teach, not learn duh
Rod Evans, does not look amused. Thank goodness he found Rhino, Caldwell and Dorman.
Captain beyond !!
@@JMarcel2007 Yes, and what a great band they were. RIP Rhino and Dorman. I think Bobby Caldwell still has a line up under the same name, active.
who is the lead singer dose not look like gillian ???
That is Deep Purples original singer Rod Evans.
The footage is from 1968, Ian GILLAN didn't join until 1969.
awesome music, groovy times, but I ain't no fan of the bush!
Deep Purple -
Rod huh not so much of one according to the pants tale.
what the f is on their heads
Helmets
It's very important to protect your head
Мне нравятся и первые три альбома, и "Concerto for group and orchestra".
