Anyone that wasn't an Aretha Franklin fan before, hasn't heard this. There's a reason she's known as the Queen of Soul. What a voice!!!

This is one of the best live moments in music history.. she went through too much in her life. Even non religious people feel the pain and see it in her eyes. Rest in piece Queen

Mahalia Jackson did a live version of "Amazing Grace" on
the Johnny Cash Hour back in 1971, a few months before her death.
Now, by this time, Mahalia had been hospitalized a few times with
various ailments (her heart, diabetes, etc.), but her voice was still
clear, powerful, and spirit-filled! It was done at the old Ryman Auditorium.
It is here on RUclips. Incredible!

Thanks for remind me of Ms Jackson she is another gospel legend, open the doors for many other gospel singers, I think that segregation.may have made it hard for her to be acknowledge by certain parts of America

Another amazing fact about this performance is that it is highly edited for the movie, the full performance is over 16 minutes and is one of the greatest musical performance ever put to wax, check out the Uncut Amazing Grace CD to get the full experience.

Bought this album for my mother and this was her favorite selection. Can see her sitting listening to it and every lil bit she would close her eyes and clap her hands.

"Bridge over troubled water" Aretha Franklin

The reason why Aretha was against the release is because the film was a promotional tag for the album which tied into her royalties. With no album release the question of her being paid was the issue. That matter had to be cleared up before she (her family after her death) was on board.

you may also enjoy Franklin's live performance of "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" with Carole King present who wrote the song, and Michelle and Barack Obama, who could no longer hold back his emotions and wept.

Well, it's not _Amazing Grace,_ but it is related to Aretha Franklin...
I have something a bit different for you. We all know that Pavarotti slays _Nessun Dorma,_ but what happens when the master is suddenly ill and finds just a few minutes before showtime that he cannot perform at the Grammy as scheduled? Well, he calls on a very special friend, who agrees to give a very unique and special rendition of this traditional song. And who is this friend, you might ask? None other than the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin!! You must experience a truly unique take on the classic, as only Aretha can provide... and with only a few minutes notice!
[Please note - YT blocks all my links, so I've posted a broken one below... easily fixed. 👍]

Take a listen to Holy Holy. It was originally done by Marvin Gaye. Aretha's version much better!
