Thank you this was a big help!
Did you ever add instructions for the drawstring? Am I just missing it?
I love it! Thank You. I have 1 question. Where is the best place to weave drawstring 😜
Awesome video. I love my new hat!! I am about to attempt the same hat for a baby.
Kimberly Veal I'm so glad it worked out for you, please feel free to share a photo of your tam, with my Facebook fans on my Facebook page. Here is a link to the page facebook.com/AfricancrabKnitsandCrochets
I made one today and it turned out great! Thanks for the tutorial. I would post a pic but it doesn't give me the option. Thanks again.
Me gusto mucho! I really like it! easy to do! thank you!!
I just completed my hat and I wanted to share with you so here it is on me. I don’t know how to send a picture
I made the tam but I am not sure how to make the draw string an were and how to place it in the tam. When I made mine it fits loose since my locs arent' really long and my head is small. So I like the length but the tame fits on my nape loosely. I was wondering do you gave a video that shows how to add the drawstring? I also saw were you told another person if they wanted a smaller tam to drop 5 rows for a medium tam is that correct? Thank you for the great instructions and for taking the time to make the videos. I'm Africancrab
Gracias la hice para mi hijo quedó muy hermosa, solo que me hubiera gustado que explicases hasta el final, la he realizado solo viendo ya que no hablo inglés. Graciaaaaaaaaaaas.
you are awesome 😘😘 thanks a lot
you didn't show us how to put in the string and i have no idea whats going on here. there was no transition from the last video to this one, now I'm sitting here with an unfinished tam and no idea how to finish it.
Hello and thank you so much for this video! I was wondering if you did a chain for your drawstring? Or a shoe string? What do you recommend? Can I add it after I finish the brim? Thank you again! My hat looks awesome!
The kid ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the tutorial. I did not make the tam because last week I made one for a customer and he ordered 4 more for this week. However, I looked at your work to see if he will like that pattern with the brim. I crochet a lot; for hours every day! Pretty soon you'll see my channel. If you would like to see my tam please let me know. Thanks! Have a blessed day!!
I was hoping you showed us how to add the string. Please explain or do a tutorial on how to add the string. Thank you!
Blessings Africancrab! You did not get a chance to show how to add the string. Can you show us how when you get a moment, please? Give thanks in advance.
Hello!! I was able to make a tam for my co-workers
It looks like it increased with the black. If so how. Also is the string a drawstring? How to do this?
Hello you speak of a shoe string for the tam how do you install it.do you just weave it in and out of the stitches? Thank you so much for the pattern.
My grandson want a rasta hat n how do u make its smaller? He's 11 year old n it does want it so long. Thank please get back with me ASAP so I can start on it.
Thank you for helping me make a very nice tam. The tutorial was easy to follow. I did not see the part on where to add the drawstring. Is there a link for it?
Thank you for the efforts of the video, I was able to crochet the tam. However, we didn't miss it, you didn't show us. All the work is useless without the draw string.

After reading comments, I see where you wrote in response to someone about the drawstring. You said: "I will include it in the tutorial for the current dreadlocks tam, I'm working on +pcmcsgcful" What is the name of that tutorial? I just did the 2 rows of sc, and will undo them to add the drawstring. Thank you advance.
I enjoyed all three of these videos but I would love to know if I want to do a size small or medium would should I do drop the needle size of do less rows
I'm going to be making for an adult male with Prolly med length dreads, so should I got up hook size you think to J or K! Any info will help thanks
Muy bonito tu trabajo... :O)
Hi there I followed ur videos all the way thru for this tam but didnt find the section u added the shoe string...how did I miss it and how do I add it now iv completed my brim
Love your video. Thanks so much!! Also how did you add the string to it??
Thank you so much for this tutorial - it helped me a lot in creating my own tam! But I am trying to see what kind of thread you are using. Is it Red Heart Super Saver? And is it cotton or acrylic? Greetings from Sweden
Thank you for 3 awesome videos!!!
I made one a bit shorter then the one you made (3 rows of color instead of 5 rows each) because my friends draeds are only about 12-14 inches. Where shall I send the pics?
You are very welcome. I'm sorry I have not been able to make more. Please share on my Facebook Fan Page here:

Thank you
Hello there! thank you very much for your tutorials! are great
I am beginner and Spanish, sometimes I can not understand the language but in the end to hear again and again I understand.
If I want to finish the hat but without the visor
how I have to do? thanks! and blessings
Sista Bea if you do not want the brim, you would finish your tam by completing 3 rows of single crochet after the last row of double crochets.
Thanks! but also I have to do the decrease row ?
Sista Bea yes you have to do the decrease row, it is also your last row of double crochet. Then you will has 60 stitches instead of 70. After that, you will add 3 rows of single crochet to complete the tam. Your draw string will go in between the last row of double crochets. Let me know how it goes.
Thank you
I already did, I think it's fine.
It is very big, but I suppose that's normal. It is a large tam.
I can not test it because I have no dreadlocks.... Thanks! :)
Sista Bea You can make it smaller too if you like. The Small/ medium, just reduce the number of rows from 20 to 16, you should have a smaller one.
how do I add the draw string? Is there a Part 4 how to add draw string?
Hello. Should the whole tension be tight. Meaning the whole hat.
Annette ... only the brim needs to be a tight tension... the rest of the hat is loose double crochet stitches...
Do you have these patterns? do you have the dreadlock rasta tam pattern also?
i have no idea what is going on here. do we cast off and cut the string? what happened to the working yarn? you need to explain things. HOW do i put in the string? why didn't you tell us the steing should have gone in beforw we did the two rows of single crochet?
Hi Harriet, First, thank you so much for your tutorial. It's keeping me very busy. :)
Could you tell me where the shoe string is supposed to be woven into? I've finished almost 3 hats in two days and would like to make sure that it's in the right spot.
Danielle Panchyshyn thank you for the comment. You need to add the shoe string right before you start the single crochet round. In between the last row of double crochets. Let me know if this helps. Please share your completed hat with us onm y facebook page here: facebook.com/AfricancrabKnitsandCrochets
Is this part 2 and 3 ?
You never said how to do the shoe string. I did not do the brim so I really need the shoe string instructions.
trying to make this work with the black yarn... can't see a dang thing...lol lol
How much do you charge to make a cap?
Is there a way that you can add the shoe string to the tam after the vim have been completed because i guess i totally missed that part of the tutorial.
Did you work in the back loop the whole time or just for round 2 of the brim
how do you add the string into and does it go I before or after the brim I think I may have missed that part
OK so i just completed my hat but i used a 4.5mm hook would that be the reason why its not as big as yours??
and does that hat you made fit on a head thats a size 7? please please get back to me soon :( im making this hat for a loved one
I used the 6.0 because I wanted it a little bit larger...mine is about half as big as Harriet... what did I do wrong? I counted the stitches & the rows ???
Hi there iv made another tam but still am unsure how to add the shoe string...could u pls help me...thanx
Tororoa Cherrington you put the string in the last row of the double crochet before you start the single crochet
what length is your tam
I never saw how to do the string in back, did I miss that?
Michelle Mckenney you probably missed it. Add the string to the last row of your double crochets before you begin the single crochet row
you didn't miss anything, she didn't tell us what to do. she just skips ahead.
Do you have the pattern for this written out?
I made.3 already but don't know how I can sent u the picture
Do u have a PDF pattern African crab beautiful
Sorry I don't.
This is really difficult to see because of the black yarn. You need to make another video with a much lighter color so we can see the work .
never mind I see someone already asked. thank you peace
Gratidão. Abraços
are you saying I should have 60 stiches isnt that 80 stiches 20 rows per color please correct me somewhere I got lost
I did 5 row per color and come perfectly fine
+tuoawe chainz perfect....I'm glad I ask I knew I miss something tk u
You said you were using a 5.5 hook for this Tam and now you say you're going to keep using the 6.
can i order this hat😳
Yes you can, go to my shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/Africancrab
Hrriet
How do I load my pics?
Okay I did the hat but my rim still didn't look right so what I did was make it longer along the end of the hat and also made it only with only three rows.
So this is what it looks like. It is Seattle Seahawks colors and I took it with my crappy phone. I will take more pictures of it because it actually looks great to me.

let me tell you something you know when you reach down to the finish you don't show us how to finish the rasta tam I just waste my time you don't show us how to lock off the end waste of time I feel so vexed about it
Love your work!!!
