Thank you Richard for taking care of Robert. People like you are what makes this world a good place.
Thanks a lot 😊 !
Robert, you truly are a gentleman and a scholar. Even during bad times you manage to find something positive in the experience. May God bless you and keep you in His tender loving care.
What small world .. I am watching you here from Africa and I feel very deeply connected. Something is so special may be is your comfortably smiling face ,, may be . Anyhow America is rich beautiful country I hope I visit it and see those beautiful sceneries and helpful people before I die …. Nice work Mr thank you.
This is our home town! Glad Mooresville was kind to you. You’re always welcome!
You gotta love the south. Everyone is so nice and offer so much hospitality.
That is awesome people came all around to help you. You are loved by many Robert. I do not know if you realize the videos you produce motivates and inspires us to get out and explore and enjoy the world. Thanks to those who helped Robert and thanks Robert for making the videos for us. To Tires Plus you should be ashamed. You have one job and you mess it up.
Never ever let a tire store do any major work on your car. I was a mechanic at a dealership and self employed mechanic for 25 years and tire store mechanics work there because they cant find a job anywhere else.
You've got that exactly RIGHT.
NEVER go to a Quick Change Oil/Lube type business.
Well, lesson learned
Dealerships can rip you off too and it's hard to find a good mechanic that is trustworthy. I use word of mouth when looking for someone who can fix what I am unwilling to do. I bet some of your followers have some great leads for good mechanics
Thank you" for the information
That may be a good rule of thumb... but there are exceptions. A guy working at a Jiffy Lube once diagnosed a problem with a Mustang that I owned. The engine was running rough and making a peculiar whistling noise when you hit the gas. I had called my Ford dealer, and they said it sounded like a fairly major issue (can't remember the details) and that I would need to make an appointment to bring it in, leave it overnight, etc. The guy at Jiffy Lube changed the oil and fired up the engine... listened to it for a minute and said, "I know exactly what that is." Sure enough, it turned out to be air intake hose that had sprung a leak and was causing the pistons to misfire. The guy pulled the hose, walked next door to a full-service shop and asked his buddy to cut a piece of hose the same length/diameter (they didn't have the official OEM part), put the hose back on, and my Mustang started purring like a brand new ride. The guy didn't charge me a dime and saved me hundreds of dollars and a lot of headaches.
Robert if you ever need a stop over on your travels up I95 or Florida’s Turnpike, we live just west of both roads here in St. Lucie County. We have 9 quiet acres in the country.
Thanks!
I'm just wondering if you also offer help to those RUclipsrs who live full time in their vans and campers ?
Awesome that so many beautiful people offered to help you.
Love your positive mindset. Stay the way you are. We love you, here in Germany.☺😎🤗
Thank you
Awe...that was so sweet of those men for helping you out...God bless them !!
"Goooooood Morning!" I love that! ❤️
Car issues are so frustrating, especially when a shop makes the problems worst. 👀
Thanks Richard for helping out Robert! 😀
It has been a great inconvenience but it will be all good in the end
Wow..they were all great people. They came together to help a stranger when times were difficult. My friend they are true jewels. This stream made me so mad, angry and sad for you.... just wanted to cry!
Wow what a drama. I am so sorry that you had such a bad experience but you presented it in such a professionally interesting way that I found this to be one of your most intriguing videos. And what good people you met on the way, a true blessing of life far exceeding things like RV shows, just saying.
In times of darkness, you had a lot of lights helping you out the darkness. Great video, and great people!
I just stumbled across this video and halfway through it I subscribed. Quality video! A “feel good video” too. Car troubles are the worst when trying to travel but you seemed to handle it beautifully. I don’t have room to subscribe to another channel so I’m going to have to get rid of Nomadic Fanatic. LOL
Thanks for the upload, Robert! And big props to Richard for coming to the rescue. So awesome that friends and viewers help out!!!!
Q
You actually kept your cool well under stress! Good luck on your RVing!
Robert" good to see your staying calm, in the midst of the storm, sometimes the actual Trip was the awesome Journey you experience from the kindness of RUclipsr's whom reach out to help in time of true need 😇
You got very lucky having a mechanic who admitted they made a mistake. Many, if not most, would just say, "It had that issue when it came in. We are not responsible." One of those fast lube places destroyed my daughter's Accord engine by running it with no oil and frying the main bearings. Of course they denied everything. It was obvious when opening the engine what had happened. It cost me $3500 for an oil change!
This is what I love about America people are so nice and helpful in times of trouble.
Thank God for people like Richard; such a nice guy to let you stay at his home and show you around town. Sometimes plan change, but you have a new friend.
Definitely
Robert... you are so cool in the midst of adversary. Many people wouldn't have your temperament. God bless you for a safe trip and success.
I all honesty, I did freak out a little bit off camera when they said they could do anything else for Old Kia... but I quickly tried to find a solution, first tried UHaul, and then Richard and Barry
Sorry to hear about your car troubles on the road Robert. This is what a lot of us future budget RVers fear the most, breaking down far from home, and how to deal with the situation. Many of us can't afford a brand new 1 ton diesel dually, and have to tow with an older vehicle, so seeing a season pro deal with your situation is very informative. I can't wait for part 2, to see how you resolve the problem.
We did solve it alright, and I'm going to have some insights on the subject.
Glad to hear it Robert. I'm the guy who bought the Rialta a couple of weeks ago. I haven't taken it out yet. Still fixing stuff, but I can't wait. Thanks for your videos, you do a fantastic job, and you can sing pretty good too!
Possibly fell in crap and still came out smelling like roses Robert! Awesome video with the realities of traveling. Great hook up at the end and kudos to those gentlemen and I think that is the essence of traveling. You go out with a plan and no plan at all makes things the most remembered!
Great hospitality from your North Carolina viewer! Thank you for taking care of a Robert on his travels. I find many RVers are taken care of during their travels.
Beautiful ending ... Fans and followers. So kind
I believe that is the repair shop in the gables. You are very lucky the shop took ownership of their mistake. Most shops would not take accountability because of the high cost that is associated with a new engine / installation.
So far they have come through, but I has been a great inconvenience not to have old Kia
Erick G. I concur. Quite surprised actually. Whoever the owner is has dignity.
Very nice, it restores your faith in people in general, when problems come your way and good people will step forward to help.
The people of North and South Carolina were great
life happens, thank you for all you are able to show!
I love traveling Robert when I'm at home it's like taking a journey with him . And give me some ideals of my own plans of ideal vacation which is beautiful I love an RV trip.
Love to listen to your story Robert. Your videos give me a chance to travel this beautiful country of ours where I otherwise would not be able to see it, thank you!
Thanks for the Mooresville love, Robert! Even in high school, my friends and I could tell it was a good place to raise children. Still a good place!!
One of my favorite towns for sure... especially because of the people
There are so many great people in this world. Glad people reached out.
Yes there are
Thanks for sharing. This is always my biggest fear when road tripping! I look forward to the rest of the story.
Robert Your ok in my book. There's good people everywhere. We appreciate your dedication and quality of video.
Thank you!
You are a Saint Robert. Calm and smiling through all of the challenges.....still managing to show us the sights along the way. Richard is an angel in disguise. Such a nice man. What an ordeal!
Richard was great. I did have more stressful moments that I didn't film but in the end it all works out right?
Wow what a trip Robert!!!! You are a real trooper with all the problems you keep a smile on your face. This trip deserves many IPA's to calm your nerves this is one trip that will always be remembered!
This has been by far the most challenging trip.... but a breakdown on the road was bound to happen at some point.
How frustrating, and slightly scary, to have car problems with a hurricane approaching. I am sure you are feeling blessed to have had so many offers of help, and to actually have been helped. Safe travels Robert.
Great Video! American generosity at its finest👍👍🍺🍺🇺🇸😁
Robert, watching your vision sure was a lot of issues. It's nice to have a good friend give their support. Great people.
I've met great people on the road, that's for sure
Thanks for sharing the hard times as well as the great times of full time RVing. I appreciate your honesty and candor in this very frustrating time. I really enjoy all your video. Glad you're back on the road.
Thank you!
Wonderful people now friends. That’s Georgia hospitality at its best. Can’t wait to find out what happens.
The kindness showed by those who helped was just amazing, if more people would be so kind the world would be a much better place! Glad you were safe somewhere and look forward to hearing how you made it out. Safe travels!
Your video showed patience under duress. I like your south Florida videos. Good luck in you travels. I wish I could drive long distances like you, but I wimp out after just a couple hours.
Whooo Richard :) Robert, you have the best viewers.
I know.... words can't describe my gratitude
hells yeah another upload! keep them coming Roberto!!
I feel for you, brother. It's hard to find good quality and professional mechanic. It's why I do my own maintenance and repair, if needed, on my vehicles. I've been doing it since I was 16. I thank my older brother, a Vietnam Veteran, who was an aircraft mechanic.
I’m sorry to hear about your travel problems. We have a Kia Sorento 2011 having engine problems for 7 months now. Good luck and will be following.
Mahalo, for helping out someone in need. I love how that guy said, my home is your home for as long as you need it. The sincerity in his voice and smile were comforting for you I bet. Another great video, Robert.
Much love from Central California, City of Tulare.
Richard Lima, great guy
ROBERT I LIKE THIS VIDEO AND I CERY HAPPY THE PEOPLE SUPPORT YOU!👏👊❤
Hello Robert, How wonderful to hear how helpful people are. My wife and i had a similar though not as serious breakdown at the Ho Hum campground in the Fla. eastern panhandle and everyone there was friendly, very kind and helped us out. Looks like you are among good people there also. Good luck and safe travels.
kim ross
Ho hum campgrounds funny name because it implies boredom... have to wonder if it's owned by Buddhists because ho and hum are important words in Buddhism unused in their prayers a lot and also mantras and Seed syllables
Travelling Robert when a new engine or remanufactured one needs break in before loading it to max, as well a new engine will break in and consume more fuel for 2-3000 miles.
Robert...Your a brave man to take your Kia on such a long trip after just having major engine work! And then to continue to drive with the check engine light and a misfire, while staying as cool as a cucumber! I could never hold it together like you did! Hats off too you!
Hello Robert, car problems are not fun at all and especially when towing a trailer. Glad to see that good people come to the rescue at a time of need. Isn't it great to know how many good people there are in the World? Hope it all goes well for you, since your journeys are uplifting and inspirational to many You-Tubers. Bravo to those who helped you. Looking forward to more videos, all the best.
Thank you! I knew It was going to happen at some point. I'm glad it happened where it did.
Just amazening Video ,So many people like to help you Robert that that's support you
Being an RVer it's almost like one big happy family most of us just want to help each other great video
Robert’s a special guy👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank God there are still people who will help and people who know those two special words...thank you!
Glad you got the help you needed..also happy to you date your videos..
You get some rest and don't sweat the small stuff. We've got your back. 🙂☺🙂
I second that.
A mechanical breakdown while traveling is NOT SMALL STUFF!
@@azclaimjumper No it isn't, but when you CAN'T CHANGE IT, you might as well NOT WORRY YOURSELF TO TEARS ABOUT IT!
Good that you were cool and you show us the frustrating part of your journey...... it is so nice that your friend let you boondocking and took IPAing!!!
Keep the video coming!!!
What a ‘trooper…’ Wow! Talk about patience and perseverance. Yup! Your facial expression says it all…😰 What a guy! You may have moments…but you kept your cool! Talk about ‘cool, calm and collected…’ I would have lost it, if I was in that predicament. Glad you kept your cool! A special gift you possibly did not even know you have all along…Blessings for the New Year to you and your family! 🙏🥳💕🎉
Hello Robert So so sorry about your Kia. I'm just glad you were able to reach out to a friend and come to your rescue. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.
Corinthoswarehouse ..... I got suspicious of KIA after KIA won’t fix a KIA Soul under warranty.....
As always even in trouble times excellent video way to stay positive 👊👍😎
American's are such lovely wellcomeing people,we are also over here in NZ,but we dont always have engine parts available for older models, they need to be flowen in from Australia the next week. But if an overseas tourist breaks down on the road and waves out for help,we always help them where we can.
I would have just dropped the whole journey from there on, and stayed with Richard, he said you can stay as long as you like! And I really liked
Hi Robert, sorry to hear about your problems on the road, I am glad to hear you resolved your situation. I have an old car as well, but I have a good mechanic I have known for many years. He is the only one I trust my car to do any major repairs. I don't have anything against these commercials places such of firestone, but the only thing I take my car there is to replace my tires. Good luck Robert !! My wife and I love your videos !!
Thank you. I could never find a "good" mechanic who wanted to work on Old Kia other than the dealer or these chains. At least so far they are standing behind their work and their mistakes. We'll see what happens in the next few days
Probably one of my all time favorite videos on #RUclips! Sometimes on our behalf and our own inconveniences, God shows us the sunshine of the world and in people. I loved this video for all those reasons! I hope all goes well with your car and it's all taken care of soon.♡
Thank you!
It's awesome when people pull together to help one another! Puts your faith back in humanity!!!
There are many kind people out there, that's for sure
So sorry with all your car problems but what a lovely spot at Richards
there are still good hospitable people out there! so awesome to know
First off I’m glad you secured transportation and dodged the hurricane. I’m a mechanic have been for over 30 years as you have probably guessed by now tires plus in Miami didn’t do right by you. It’s probably wrong of me to say anything but I just can’t help myself it’s repair facilities like that that give us honest folks a bad name. Now maybe your old engine just picked that time to go but to tell you a piece of ceramic from a spark plug cause it to fail is bs. A engine is aluminum iron and steel all of which are tougher than ceramic. Anyway sorry about the rant. I hope your safe and sound if you ever need mechanic services in the Gainesville region you can find me on fb
Thank you so much. It is sometimes hard to find a mechanic you can trust. So far Tires Plus has covered everything except my trust in my old reliable vehicle. I will keep you posted on my progress, but my feeling is... new tow vehicle
Agree 100%. I've been in the auto repair business since I was 16, had my own shop since my early 20s. Recently sold my shop to move to Florida. Anyway, every national chain is full of sub par, commission driven mechanics and service writers.
You are so right....unfortunately he was in desperate need and they knew that and told him a bunch of BS, just to get the money.... I wonder if they even told him the actual mileage on the replaced engine.
I agree Robert.. hard sometimes to vocalize the obvious.. The kia should be put out to pasture..maybe as a commuter for a college kid...
While I agree that the Kia should have been put out to pasture a long time ago, a disintegrated spark plug could destroy a cylinder but the timing is very suspicious. I bet that was a $5k repair.
As someone already mentioned , KIA owes you some for driving the vehicle so many miles and great adventures, literally doing the best advertising they can get. The whole world is watching your channel, like me here in far away Russia's far east, and of all the details audience notice the car that pulls the RV is a major one.
The worse gas mileage could be also the computer still adjusting to the driving pattern or the fuel system needs cleaning, injectors, fuel filter, etc.
Unfortunately they could never fix Old Kia. Those few miles from Charlotte to Mooresville were her last on the road... did you say Russia's far east? I would love to go some day. Lisbon to Vladivostok 2025
God bless you Robert.
we'll keep you in our prayers.your one of our favorite
we love your channel.
Love watching you. I live in the Florida panhandle (Destin) next time you are we close let me know. Show you some out of the way secrets
Great video Robert. Glad you got your situation resolved. My 2009 Kia Sorrento is going over 130K and still going strong. They will last if taken care off. Looks like you've got [ or are getting] your money's worth out of her. Your facial expression describing that "sketchy" walmart at 12:15 is priceless.
These videos are my happy place
with todays events being not always positive, it is so nice to find people who will open their hearts and home to help someone.
sorry for your trouble but this is a wonderful video and to meet helpful fellow yt-ers, was fantastic! happy trails Robert.
Thank you!
Robert, you my dear friend, are one in a handful of absolutely favorite traveling/camping channels. I can only hope the best for you and if you ever travel abroad to China or Philippines, you always got a place.
Robert - what a cliff hanger for sure. I watch all the time but rarely comment. You have a wide network of wonderful friends and I look forward to the next video. Best wishes and definitely safe travels my friend.
Great support team Robert your very fortunate, great video about great people doing great things be safe.
I definitely feel very fortunate. Thank you!
That was very nice of Richard to help you out. Hope that your problems with the car get worked out. Safe travels my friend
It was great to see you again Robert and to have dinner with you again. Sorry we didn’t get the selfie. I told you we were big RUclips stars and get asked all the time for a selfie, NOT! lol. Remember you are always welcome back anytime. I wish there was more we could of done. See you on the road.
Thank you Brian. I was great to see you again and meet your wife and daughter. Mooresville is now one of my favorite towns
Nice ! ☺
My experience with Firestone is that they have some good mechanics, but they can be a little pricy. They wanted to replace things like brake calipers which a mechanic at another shop cleaned and inspected and said was ok, so my $1200 brake job at Firestone actually cost $450. I did this before my Alaska trip, and my brakes worked perfectly. I always get a price from Firestone because I like the manager, but I seldom get any real work done there.
Happy you are well Robert. Be safe on the road where ever you go
Hahaha 11:48 I can almost smell the cafesito. Good morning Roberto from NYC ! I said let me see what Robertito been up to ? I have not seen a video in while. Nice to see you again my brother. "Happy Trails". :)
You handled your vehicle problems much better than I would have!!! You are so calm! And maybe your mileage will improve after an engine break-in period? Great videos Robert! I am making plans now to take the RV to Boyd's Campground in Key West for the 2019 Lobsterfest due to your 2015 & 2018 videos!!! Thanks!
Nice to know there are folks out there with huge hearts.
One of things my wife and I always talk about while enjoying your formidable videos is how brave you are to be using such mid size SUV to embark in such wonderful, cross country towing adventures. The car has responded in a magnificent way and Kia owes you a juice endorsement for those adventures. But (there’s always a but), we believe it is now time for a newer vehicle with better towing capacity...Under no circumstances we are going to accept that you get grounded over some engine issues 😀 It’s time for a “Go Fund Me” campaign and get Robert that truck of his dreams 😀
Wow. What a house your friend lives in. So glad you had people to help you.
I am glad that you are safe and sound!
Robert, Great share! For those of You who offered to provide assistance along his way... On behalf of the Larger RV Community - THANK YOU for keeping your hearts open. Continued Success, Robert. BTW, please enjoy your next Moka and - Please, share with us a pic of your favorite Italian wine -
Nice to have Your latest My RV. I feel it the way.... All The Best
SO MANY good people across the U.S.......Very considerate and kind! Darkblue Trader!
