Robert you are one of my favorite people on RUclips! I revel in the escape that your videos provide to me and many others, and I appreciate all the effort that you put into them... Thank you
Suddenly I see your channel and in the most overwhelming moments of my daily life provoke in me a tremendous level of relaxation and tranquility. I really appreciate your videos thank you so much Robert 👍
I lived in Midland, and Odessa for 1 1/2 years, working as a Gate Guard. I really do miss it all there. When you showed the Flair Ups.. I just got goose bumps. Though, now today,, it's gone. Very sad.. But I really do want to come back.
Robert, I have lived in Texas my entire life, and, even at the age of 65 I am STILL blown away from the fact that after traveling from Houston to El Paso I'm only HALF WAY to Los Angeles! 880 miles from the Louisiana/Tx line on I-10 to New Mexico/Tx line on the other end! Geez! And, believe me, in 38 years as a truck driver I've had my share of the whole distance in between and then some in Texas! Wonderful video as always! Travel safe, be happy, and God Bless! Adios! (5/16/2018 Wednesday 7:20pmCST Houston, Tx)
It is huge. I was just comparing it (in the next video) with my drive from the Alabama-Florida line to my house in south Florida which is about 700, and I called it the second longest of my whole trip.
I feel like flying from NYC to Texas just to eat at that Cattleman's Ranch Steakhouse. Steak pictures on google maps look so delicious. Thanks for feeding us this video. God Bless.
Hi Robert, I'm a long-time viewer and this is another great video! @18:10, you started talking about bad weather and how you tried to avoid it. It's amazing how much rain and snow you've hit in the desert over the years! You're fortunate to see such variable weather in typically dry locations. Thanks for the wonderful videos!
This reminds me of a wonderful cross-country drive I made more than a decade ago. I wasn't "Free in my RV" it was more like "Free in my Oldsmobile Delta 88 4 Door Sedan"!
Great stuff as always ... I now can't distinguish places I've actually visited in reality and ones I've only visited with Travelling Robert .. old age, I guess
Hello Robert and greetings from Belgrade, capital city of Serbia! I`m new on this channel and i saw just a couple of videos, but i have to say that you have the best aproach making incredible and informative videos, and keep doing the same thing great! I have visited USA in 2014 and i was living in Maine (city Oganquit) so if you are planning to visit some new places i highly recommend this beautiful country!
I'm from New Mexico, but I don't like the southern part of our state. The northern part is prettier. That breakfast you showed made my mouth water. Looked so appetizing. Careful on your travels Mr. Robert. God 🙏 bless you always.
I can appreciate why they call it White Sands ....even the roads have a coating of white sand ....stunning area. Always good to follow your intuition when something doesn't seem quite right with a spot ...glad you moved on even if it meant you would be tired. Will watch thi again once I get home. aka nightengale.
We were just there at the White Sands National Monument. Such a beautiful place!! Robert we love your videos you need to be in the travel channel. You have such a narrator voice! ☺️
Hello Robert..I'm relatively new to your channel but I am enjoying your videos immensely. They provide relaxation and I am gaining more of an interest in camping and travel as well. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Another great video, Robert! When you passed through the Village of San Antonio NM, you passed the Owl Bar and Cafe on the left. It is home of the Original Green Chile Cheeseburger. Next time you go through there, be sure to stop and enjoy one. Also, you mentioned "The Gadget" (first atomic bomb) when you were entering White Sands. You actually passed north of the location of the test detonation (Trinity Site) while you were on US 380 approaching the tiny village of Bingham NM from the west. It was about 13.7 miles south of the highway just before you crossed a low rise before getting to Bingham. You crossed the "Jornada del Muerto" after passing through the hills east of San Antonio. Sort of New Mexico's "Death Valley", so to speak. 😏😉
I neglected to mention (someone already mentioned it) that San Antonio is properly known as San Antonio en el Camino Real, and is the birthplace of Conrad Hilton. The Owl Bar has the counter to the original Hilton Store that they use as the bar. When in Texas again, stop by Cisco and visit Hilton's first hotel. It's now a museum.
Robert, my husband and I were traveling out west when he also had to answer the call of nature. We stopped beside the only bushes and short trees for miles. He was standing behind one of the bushes and spotted a small home behind the vegetation. I laughed when he told me because while he was gone, I looked to the left of the bushes and saw a Neighborhood Watch sign. Nothing else for miles around!
Loved this episode - Thnx for this , Brings back so many Awesome memories ! Grew up in El Paso / Ft Bliss during the 70s ! I highly recommend you to visit Big bend national park & Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico too ! , Howdy - Salute from Germany ! I MISS TEXAS !
another great video.just by watching these videos it shows us what were missing.God bless you Robertand your family.it's amazing just how big the world really is .there's so many beautiful places out there.
That Wal-Mart was trashed out when I went there. There was clothing all over the floors. People were ramming me with the carts. I had to ram back just to get out of there.
As always the video is excellent! I truly see through yours eyes and absorb the wonder that your travel holds! One day I hope to follow your path but until then you’re a vessel that keeps my dreams alive! Thank you!
We have been living in a 42 foot toy hauler and we love her. We named our Freightliner F70 Pearl after my grandma that was quite the woman. We tried to think of a name for the RV to no avail until I though‘well she’s a big girl so naturally we named the RV Minnie. So now we have Minnie Pearl! It’s also a nod to my mom who loved the comedian Minnie Pearl 😊. Unfortunately after 4 years she has come to her resting place because we want to do what you are doing. We want to be able to, just pick up and go. With that said we are looking at our options of a passenger pickup and small RV to tow. We are excited once again and that is mostly due to you. You have the ability to simply go where you wish. That’s what we too desire. With that said we too are looking at Winnebago Mini’s. Thank you for your many videos and I hope we too will be doing the same. We won’t be traveling as much as you do but we will and that’s what counts. Again thank you for your excellence video library of all your adventures. Safe travels my friend❤
So cool, I would like to go to see the white sands after watching your video. Really enjoy watching your videos and listening to your music here in Kansas City, MO. My wife and I just bought a Coachmen camper and look forward to our one travels and adventures. Safe travels Robert!
Your videos are amazing, I can tell the time and effort it took to make it so thank you. Great voice for narration and I love you making the cafe con leche, I’m a native Miamian so I love some Bustello or Cafe Naviera from Tampa.
Did this route in July 2022, driving a Toyota Sequoia. Filled gas at Sam's Club, El Paso and Walmart Ft. Stockton, before halting for the night at Junction, TX.
I've been enjoying your treks across the country. I have been to a lot of the places that you have stopped at and a few are places to visit in the future.
I noticed you pulled off at a rest stop across from a cutout. The building there is a stagecoach stop building that was relocated there form a couple of miles away.
Hey Robert, I am a new subscriber and am glad I found your channel. Great video! We full time but enjoy seeing what others are doing and where they are staying. Walmart is a mixed bag, sometimes it works out great and sometimes not so much!. Sorry to see you got harassed but you handled yourself well. Always trust that little voice that says to move on. Its usually right. Cheryl
Most of my oil rig friends hate that drive to West Texas. I on the other hand find it fascinating, I'm from way on the other side of Texas in houston where the climate is more similar to you in Miami. The desert is boring for some but i love to drive it. Its way better than that florida panhandle stretch of i10 where all you see is trees on both sides lol
I like the way you travel and the way you cook your food. Stop at free places and get a history outlook on your environment. You look familiar. Roy used to know you. I was his wife Dixie. We had 3 grown children. He died.
It sucks those kids were making you feel uncomfortable Robert, I used to live in Texas and I can definitely attest, sometimes those kids can be a little bit of rattlesnakes themselves smh.
Great video Robert [as always]. You are going to find it a bit more challenging finding spots at rest areas, particularly after 6:00PM, due to the new ELD requirements for truckers now in effect. It's easier if your just driving a car of course.
Another nice video, Robert, and I'm glad you appreciated the rare beauty of White Sands. Sad about those kids hassling you. Safe travels. Try to get some sleep!!! P.S. 380 Carrizozo to San Antonio is my favorite highway, for the same reasons you liked it. Thanks for showing it.
Great video! White sands looked incredible! We have never been there! Looks like it is worth a trip! We drove 17 hours after leaving Palo Duro Texas on weekend because we couldn't find anything! Have been to cattlemans ranch steakhouse-watching coyotes outside the window-very cool. Recommend to all. Did the sledding thing at white sands as kiddos. Don’t go to white sands in the summer tho. Sun beating down plus reflecting off of sand = very bad sunburn.

Might to post 2... I haven't even calculated how long it is going to be. I might do a "Driving to the West" and then a "Driving to the East" I just shot the last scene this morning at Miami Beach, to give it a coast to coast feel.
Did you glow in the dark after leaving White Sands? Cattlesman's has gooood steaks. Thanks for the video, good job. I grew up in EP. Brought back good memories.
Robert another great video. Thanks. I would have stayed at steak house, if they allow, would have needed a nap after a great meal. It is past time for me to call it a night, but between the steak house and your amazing omelette think Barb will need to cook me one now.
I was just at White Sands last week - stayed in my RV at Holloman AFB. Enjoyed two days at White Sands - rode the mountain bike about 15 miles roundtrip from ranger station and back - can't ride on the sand dunes obviously but it was a special ride. Not too hot yet, either. If anyone goes up to Albuquerque, visit the Nuclear Museum next to Kirtland AFB - well worth the stop.
21:57 - Not every location is a success ☺. The White Sands were marvellous though. Those youth at the Walmart were a drag. You were right to move on because they'd have probably been hassling you at night by shaking the travel trailer and that kind of thing.
It is ashamed they have no manners. Guess they are not accountable to anyone and have developed some bad habits and are in need of training. Life sometimes delivers unexpected training.
I'm new to your channel. Love your videos. You were right in my neighborhood. It's funny you went from a safe Walmart parking lot right across a police station in Horizon to a very dangerous town of Van Horn. Lot of drug activity and homelessness. But glad everything worked out.
Public spaces like Walmart can sometimes be a pain, if you are ever in Mt. Airy NC (aka Mayberry ) stay at Walmart or better still Mayberry campground Barney keeps watch over both !
Robert you are one of my favorite people on RUclips!
I revel in the escape that your videos provide to me and many others, and I appreciate all the effort that you put into them... Thank you

Your videos are like a good movie ,pop some corn when it's over put another one on.. the music wow makes it perfect.
Am I the only one who sings the catchy opening theme song when I am driving down the road every day or do others do the same? Just curious! :o)
earworm... just can’t stop singing...while riding my...suv🎼🎼🎹🎹🎤🎤
cant stop singing it, makes my wife laugh too
You do have a catching tune!
Robert thank you for allowing me to travel with you to visit america.

He never mentioned how the food was.
Of all the places you've been I still love it when you go to key West. The scenery there is incredible. A bucket list destination for me one day.
Your videos are very enjoyable. Thank you
This reminds me of a wonderful cross-country drive I made more than a decade ago. I wasn't "Free in my RV" it was more like "Free in my Oldsmobile Delta 88 4 Door Sedan"!
Excellent, as usual. The "Walmart incident" might have been bad, but driving into that Texas sunrise surely wasn't.
That was amazing. You have to take the bad with the book
Way to keep it so real Robert. Everything isn’t always roses.
It is the nature of travel.
I agree. I love Robert’s candidness. When food or service isn’t great he will let ya know. He’s real.
You've gotta trust your instincts & "leave" if something isn't "right".
Great stuff as always ... I now can't distinguish places I've actually visited in reality and ones I've only visited with Travelling Robert .. old age, I guess

That sunrise... movingly beautiful !

No way! We were in Albuquerque a few days ago and in White Sands last week! We could meet up! Safe travels! ;)
Beautiful landscape, looks like snow.
As always the video is excellent! I truly see through yours eyes and absorb the wonder that your travel holds! One day I hope to follow your path but until then you’re a vessel that keeps my dreams alive! Thank you!

Really enjoyed the traveling with you from White Sands to Junction, to San Antonio. You went through El Paso, my home town. Nice interstate 20 and 10.
That was the first time I've seen the "White Sands" area. The music was perfect!!!
Thank you Patty, glad you liked it
White Sand is very beautiful and rare place. It was an unpleasant incident at Walmart. You made the correct decision.
Loved the Sand Dunes. Never been in my home state of Colorado either, have to make a road trip soon.
Your videos are amazing, I can tell the time and effort it took to make it so thank you. Great voice for narration and I love you making the cafe con leche, I’m a native Miamian so I love some Bustello or Cafe Naviera from Tampa.

To get the best pictures at white sands come in the winter at sunset. The sunlight at those low angles brings out the best colors
This was fun... my home... thank you for sharing
I've been enjoying your treks across the country. I have been to a lot of the places that you have stopped at and a few are places to visit in the future.
I noticed you pulled off at a rest stop across from a cutout. The building there is a stagecoach stop building that was relocated there form a couple of miles away.
There is a great museum on the military base on the east side of San Augustine pass.

I went there aug 2018. One of my favorite places in the world!
Mr Robert , Riding , Riding ! is favorite Music ! Texas good video .
Just went to White Sands 2 weeks ago, all I can say is, wow!!

Discovered it almost by chance, but yes, it was incredible
We'll be taking 380 again Sunday. Will be thinking of you.
Hi Robert, thanks for sharing yet another great video here.Quite entertaining as usual.Greetings from William in Bruges,Belgium,Europe
Thank you!
Great video! White sands looked incredible! We have never been there! Looks like it is worth a trip! We drove 17 hours after leaving Palo Duro Texas on weekend because we couldn't find anything! We stopped at many state Parks in Arkansas, as that is where we intended to drive to... We ended up pulling into a state park in I think Memphis Tennessee at 4am! Ouch! I would not recommend that, but I am glad we were able to do that! I felt bad for the people who were stating there! We have never stayed at a Walmart, it kind of creeps us out...
Love your rv travels. I am new to rving and travel solo. You have inspired me and given me the courage to concur my personal challenge of rv travel. Thank you.
Thank you and congratulations
Just a beautiful video.
From West Texas to San Antonio! That's a long drive. Texas is a huge state, thank God the highways are so great!! I looooove your videos. Just subbed today!!❤️
Hello Robert, I am wondering with all the travels you do how many miles does your Kia has on the odometer? Is the transmission and engine holding up well towing the trailer? As always another great video and commentary.
Hey Traveling Robert! I just came across your vidoes and I just love them. You seem like you would be a lot of fun to travel with :) You have a Antonio Banderas kinda voice :) but much better looking of course! LOL Keep up the great videos & I will keep watching. thank you!

so even the "bills" are bigger in texas......wow that was high
for one person.... yeah
Do you compose and perform all the music? It's perfect (I'm a musician from a family of artists and photographers, so I can appreciate that and not take it for granted, and I can appreciate how well it suits the specific sections of the video)
Yes I do. Thank you
San Antonio New Mexico, birthplace of Conrad Hilton. Founder of Hilton Hotels! Good video!
I can't believe I didn't know that. Now I'll have to go back. Someone else also recommended a good restaurant there.
Traveling Robert the Owl bar and the Buckhorn which was on the food channel with Bobby Flay. Take care!
Robert, The White Sands remind me of snow and that made me think...When was the first time you saw snow?
Spain 1987 or 88
Have been to cattlemans ranch steakhouse-watching coyotes outside the window-very cool. Recommend to all. Did the sledding thing at white sands as kiddos. Don’t go to white sands in the summer tho. Sun beating down plus reflecting off of sand = very bad sunburn.
We love the daybreak video!
This is cool, the sand looks like snow.
If you plan your trip to White Sands NM, you can travel to Trinity Site.( It is open two days a year )
Yes, I'm going to see if I can time right next time
Where does the Alamogordo caravan meet?
A21. Visitors who wish to ride the caravan must meet at the Tularosa High School parking lot at 7 a.m. at the Tularosa High School Athletic Field Parking Lot. A photo id will be required.
What a journey, thanks for taking us along. Are you posting a long version in the future?
Might to post 2... I haven't even calculated how long it is going to be. I might do a "Driving to the West" and then a "Driving to the East" I just shot the last scene this morning at Miami Beach, to give it a coast to coast feel.
Great Video. Thank you for posting.
Enjoyed your video! Took a trip to White Sands two weeks ago. It's definitely an interesting part of the Southwest. =)
Thanks!
Did you glow in the dark after leaving White Sands? Cattlesman's has gooood steaks. Thanks for the video, good job. I grew up in EP. Brought back good memories.
Glad you liked it
Awesome video 👍 that steak looked delicious really good video thanks for sharing
Great shots from the camera outside when driving on the road
Thank you!
Really like the theme song/music!
Robert another great video. Thanks. I would have stayed at steak house, if they allow, would have needed a nap after a great meal. It is past time for me to call it a night, but between the steak house and your amazing omelette think Barb will need to cook me one now.
I thought about it after the fact. That class A in front of me didn't look like it was going anywhere.
White Sands is a surreal place. I did visit the Nuclear Museum in ABQ. It was fascinating as well

It is ashamed they have no manners. Guess they are not accountable to anyone and have developed some bad habits and are in need of training. Life sometimes delivers unexpected training.
First time I have a problem like that, and I'm sure won't be the last
That breakfast looked good! It's 8AM you got me hungry!
Thanks again for the trip!
I'm new to your channel. Love your videos. You were right in my neighborhood. It's funny you went from a safe Walmart parking lot right across a police station in Horizon to a very dangerous town of Van Horn. Lot of drug activity and homelessness. But glad everything worked out.
Thank you!. That Walmart did not feel safe.
Public spaces like Walmart can sometimes be a pain, if you are ever in Mt. Airy NC (aka Mayberry ) stay at Walmart or better still Mayberry campground Barney keeps watch over both !
I'm going to be in the area soon. Thank you.
