hey hi there!
i did and upscaled ia algorithym on this game , with dolphin version version , aldo I painted my self great 90 isnpired costumes for the x-men you can visit my channel and see for your self i already realese the entire hd textures for x-men legends 1.
Only clicked to say 2 was better
No I think the arcade version of X-Men was the best one the one when you fight Professor X at the end
I'm playing on Dolphin VR
Wolverine Origins is better game wise
Marvel would make bank if they remastered the Legends series while Disney is pumping out X-Men content at the same time
Do you think a Mass Effect style RPG remake might be a better idea? XML is very tactical, but I think making it closer to Mass Effect games in terms of gameplay including a 3rd person camera could make it even better.
@@bloodymares Well I do like Mass Effect, but I think that was kinda done with the Avengers game. What I really liked about the Legends series is the same as Ultimate Alliance. I thought it was cool to make 4 person teams using different characters from the Marvel universe along with being able to 4 players split screen it. I also really liked the eagle eye camera view for it because you could see what all 4 characters were doing, where the enemies are, who needs healing, where you should position the characters, stuff like that. Kinda reminded me of the old WoW, which is funny because I don't really like games like WoW lol.
@@antmaster360 I don't know about Avengers, its combat reminds me more of Arkham games with a touch of Devil May Cry beat em up rather than Mass Effect with tactical use of powers and squad management. And obviously, Avengers is a looter, and I hate looter games.
@@bloodymares I played the demo and watch a guy who livestreams it occasionally. You can create certain builds for situations from the gear you pick up, but the gear is random and I cannot stand that type of stuff. You can also do online co op with other people and pick whichever characters you think would be best for the missions. Like the guy I watch has a build for straight physical damage and another for projectile throwing
Facts. If it looked like Avengers does, I would dump that game for the X-Men remaster immediately. X-Men Legends II even faster.
X-Men Legends, X-Men Legends II and Marvel Ultimate Alliance are just legendary and enjoyable till this day.
Im kicking myself cuz I sold them with my old systems!!!! I love the new playstation spiderman games but they dont have the replay value of legends or UA.
Played them last week. Still special.
I've been asking for an updated X-Men Legends 1 & 2 to current gen but I doubt it'll ever happen
Hell yes
@@slowpie aye, you can still download the PC versions!
X-Men Legends was basically my "Gateway" to comics and superheroes.
i see what you did there!!
Great character interaction and special abilities. Flyers could lift other characters, Rogue's unique powers with the team, Gambit and Jubilee being able to detinate walls, using Nightcrawler to teleport teammates, Jean Grey using telekinesis to move enemies.... why didn't any other developer learn from this
I have a special place in my heart for xmen legends 2 cause playing as the villains as well was fucking sick
I was just mad mystique was not playable in 2 but was playable in 1
I’m literally playing this right now 😂😂😂
Where?? I want to play it too😭
Is it on xbox?
@@montprice6722 yes
I've only played X-Men Legends on the GameCube I didn't know they had it on Xbox or Playstation
I've got em all. PS2, PSP, and PS3
X-Men legends 1 and 2 are in fact the best X-men video game ever! I hope they continue these agame to an X-Men Legends 3 some day. Ultimate alliance 3 was cool, I loved it (even if the style was changed to make it look more like cartoon).
Man, this game was my childhood. Glad you covered it!
Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction needs a HARD remake/remaster which ever one. New engine new physics for the destruction, like go really stupid with it for Hulk.
Honestly, the Hulk stuff in Avengers was such a let down - we NEED a current/next-gen Hulk game that is wall-to-wall destruction.
@@PanelstoPixels exactly I agree 100 percent it's so lackluster you don't feel powerful as hulk in the Avengers game and that is so disappointing it's frustrating that hulk ultimate destruction a 15 year old game did hulk gameplay better and in a open world
Ive been saying the same thing for 2 yrs especially if they were to make a sequels that details how truly epic he is as far as his power and the comics go
If Marvel and Activision ever do remaster Ultimate destruction, it should be developed by either Platinum games or Santa Monica studios.
@@legoking6165 I wouldn't mind THQ doing it
wohoooo more people talking about x-men legends!!
Hell yeah! X
My thoughts exactly 👍🏻
@@ChristopherMen2a I love this freakin game. Fully lvled Jean Grey would blow up everything with her Telekinesis the only problem was at the end game it does nothing to the end boss
@@taochi100 omg yesss I did the same Jean Grey was my favorite!!!!! PvP in this game is amazing n Idk why no one talks bout that lol when I play with my friends we have so much fun!
Easily my favorite game of all time still currently playing
The Colossus slap was my absolute favourite thing. Absolute room clearer.
“COMBO!!!” “COMBO”!!! “COMBO!!!” Sorry, that just brings me back!!! Lol
I love how they got Patrick Stewart to do so many of these games as Prof X.
❄️ Ice Man was my main, my homies slept on him though.
Bro iceman is s tier, his freeze blast and cold crush are the best abilities in the game!
Slept on him???
Nigga you ALWAYS NEEDED HIM 😭😭😭
Glad to hear your thoughts on the game too, Josh! Your passion and love for the game really shows and I always feel inspired to keep improving my own videos after seeing the mastery exemplified in your own. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks, Xavier! Loved you guys' video too. Next time we'll coordinate better and team up!
@@PanelstoPixels ur positive review of the game is so different from Xavier's negative review of the game but both are entertaining. I know ur comments are old but that's he point of videos and comments to make the message timeless. Jus goes to show it's about the mechanics of each point of view. In the end the game is as good or as bad as how the individual sees it.
Mendoza ur vids are entertaining in their own way
Damn straight it does. My brother would always be Wolverine while I’d be Cyclops.
Sounds like me and my brother except he usually played nightcrawler, gambit or some other mutant. And I'd always play wolverine
Cyclops slaps so hard in this game
Legends 1 started off and remained tremendously slow up until you get the mid-high level gear. Legends 2 did not feel like a chore to play right off the bat.
I found the broken nightcrawler build by accident in legends 2.
@@wahidpawana424 nightcrawler is absolutely broken in 2, you can solo the whole game with him
i liked legends 1 wayyy more than 2
@@claudebuddiez2599 Why?
@@duncanmacleod7287 more straightforward, better story and environment, liked the characters more, music was better. idk something felt weird about 2.. too many traits
I agree. X-men Legends will forever have a special place in my heart. Definitely is my childhood. They need to remaster this game. Including X-men Legends 2. Playing as the villains in the danger room modes was sick!
I just loved every one of these games growing up. I was glad Nintendo brought MUA 3 back to the comic book style. I wish they would remaster these games for the next gen.
Agreed!!!!
I love the Legends games and the action RPG genre was perfect fit for the team based X-Men characters. My one gribe is the level design and the missions sometimes drag on too long, but the overall love for the source material and all the deep dives into the X-men lore more than make up for it to me.
Awww man back to my ps2 days i remember playin this and xmenlegends2 w my cousin lol they didnt look the best but the cutscenes wer dope and alot of xmen lore
Finally he's back!! This is such an underated channel btw
Agreed!
Thanks so much! Should have videos out more regularly this month.
X-men legend 1 and 2 are my favorite games ever, I really wish we could have a 3rd installment!
such FUCKED world of ours that we may never get a true proper LEGENDS3
ADORE THIS GAMES
DRAGOTH BELMONT so true man but I still have hope, maybe we should launch a crowdfunding 😁?
I played the 2nd one first. I didn't play this one until years later. I love the absolute hell out of these games. They are definitely on my list of all time favorite games. I've played through both many times.
I’m the same but opposite. I haven’t played the second yet. Which one is your favorite??
@@agentgrey5696 That is an extremely hard one to say...lol
Played X-Men Legends 2 but never the first one. Still remember how good the cutscenes looked.
Hell yes. Friends sitting around drinking and playing this game from beginning to end. Those were the days.
I just wish you unlocked Psylocke earlier. By the time you get her, half of the enemies are resistant to her attack type.
Well that's a easy fix to that it may be counter intuitive and you can do it with all of the characters who can add thier respective elmental/psychic damage to thier melee attacks but you pour points into thier strike and pouring skill points into thier skill that adds thier damage to thier strike as soon as the game let's you and you wind up with characters who are doing good psychical and elemental/psychic damage with every punch and kick and therefore they bypass those pesky enemy resistances and can steam roll everything it really does break the game.
Omg this was my fave game on GameCube as a child- played it and beat it multiple times
playing Jean throwing around a sentinel during the 70's flashback.
Legends and legends 2 were revolutionary shit. They need to bring it back but only with minor updates and leave the majority of its style alone
Magma being used as a stand-In for the audience reminds me of how the Super Hero Squad Show used Reptil, another obscure Marvel hero.
I loved playing this game with my three boys back in the day. I still have it too.
Man, we need a sequel to that 2005 Punisher game. Continue the plot, bring back Thomas Jane, get the original developers, and I bet we can have a masterpiece.
That and an actual Daredevil game. I would never leave the house. Lol
@@trealsteve there was a planned Daredevil game for the PS2 and Xbox. Sadly never came out.
Destron Laserwave We need to create a petition for that game for upcoming gen. 🤣
I had a vague memory of playing an awesome X-Men videogame when I was in high school. I never knew the name of the game, but ever since, I would always look for the mysterious game that blew my mind.
Thanks for bringing a years-long quest to a finish!
This game is only surpassed by its sequel.
Also, Jean Grey have some OP abilities.
Just level her and you can swatch up the rest of your team as you play.
I didn't get to play with Jean much during my play-through but I'm going to give this a try. This is what I love about the game, it's infinitely replayable.
The only reason X-men Legends 2 is inferior imo is the terrible soundtrack. It feels like such a dreary macabre snore fest because of the music. That soundtrack is the kind of thing you should be reading H.P. Lovecraft to, not playing an action beat-em-up RPG to. The music is even worse than the quiet sewer music in Xmen-Legends 1. It's okay for some somber moments, but the music is never giving you a moment to feel pumped up for the action.
Jean Grey's telekinesis when maxed out is SUPER OP
The only problem is that there was that one level where she was too busy lifting the sinking ship to use in combat. Not the best time to focus on her..
@@PanelstoPixels well you talked about building a balanced team and during my early playthroughs of this game I did the same but eventually I came to find building a team of 4 mutants who have elemental/psychic capabilities and who can add that damage to thier physical attacks (thier punches and kicks) can create a truely overpowered team as pouring points into thier strike and pouring upgrade points into thier skill that's adds there elemental/psychic damage to thier punches and kicks and you will create characters who can punch and kick thier way through virtually every enemies with ease bypassing the psychical, elemental, and Psychic resistances that enemies start having. By doing that you don't have to worry so much about switching between your characters whenever you run into a enemy who has a resistance to your character damage type. A really strong team I found good to use might be Magma, Iceman, Storm, and Jean Grey. There are a few other characters who can swap into those roles as well.
This game is a Classic and it's actually a hardcore rpg. Them Sentinel is Opp that Beammmm will one shot u early game
1) the first boss fight where you need to execute combos to cause damage is a great way to force you to learn the mechanic.
2) trivia game in the X mansion to let you level up your characters was very helpful.
3) by end game you had to use Jean and Storm for their reduce damage buffs to all teammates, so it took away some variability, but who wouldn’t want them on your team anyway.
You have to say, "no." There is literally a room of danger in the basement.
Hands down one of the best multiplayer X-men games!
The best 2 things in the game for me were: 1 - Building a kickass 4 man team filled with cool heroes that work together well, are diverse in damage types and can do good damage. Another important factor was how easily their powers were able to combo with one another. Mixing and matching and testing out characters to see if they were good enough to make the squad was fun as hell.
Reason #2 - Getting to pick your favorite hero(s) and simply kick ass with them and use their powers. My all time favorite Xmen is Gambit. So he was always an automatic choice for me. My teams were built around him almost every playthrough of mine. I don't care what anybody says - Gambit could kick major ass if you built him right and used the right gear. The power he had where he'd throw down cards onto the ground in front if him that acted as proximity mines was the perfect power to combo with because it would pop enemies up and was just easy to time with other powers. I played the first one a bit and beat it once, but I don't remember it very much. The 2nd is the one I played the most and had several playthroughs of. It's probably my favorite Ps2 game of all time really. Xmen legends 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 are both prolly in my top 10 all time! I just love assembling a 4 man team of heroes and going around whooping ass and using powers as you level up and continue getting stronger and stronger.
I guess you could throw in a 3rd reason - They're great games to play coop with a friend or your significant other. Which is what I did alot as I played Legends 2 and Ultimate Alliance with my wife alot and we both had a blast! I just really hated the character my wife liked the most in UA - Human Torch! Did not like him AT ALL! So her choices got under my skin and made our teams look weak lol. We'd always do 2 and 2. I'd pick 2 heroes and she'd pick 2. That way we both had an option to switch to for some diversity. We weren't allowed to use either of the other persons 2 characters. We had to stick to our own choices lol. I remember I had to sacrifice Iceman cause she grew to like him. Since I was better and could be effective with a wider range of heroes I went ahead and let her pick him for one of her spots. Anyways - awesome video! Thank you first sharing!
I still think about this till date I need to play rise of apocalypse again so bad 😭
It's so nice seeing some love for the Legends series
I played these games hundreds of times as a kid
I played both, but played X-Men Legends 2 a lot. Loved it, and yes, the art style immortalized it so it looks good even today.
I found that Iceman had the smartest a.i. when it came to dodging attacks from bosses.
Fire. This and Ult Alliance. Wish they released a 3
X-Men: Next Dimension was another masterpiece along with this one
That game on Medium difficulty is the most frustrating fighting game I've ever played.
@@TheAwags0218 Try getting the Dark Phoenix ending cutscene. Literally was so mad I was in tears before I finally got it. You had to beat Bastian with Phoenix with 2 perfects..............literally hell.

id have to say rise of imperfects, that game was underrated af
Very, 💯
The opening sequence to that game where Hulk DIES was the craziest thing I watched as a kid. I just couldn't believe the HULK was killed
Like how were the good guys going to win this one???
You damn right really pissed it never got a sequel
It needs a whole damn revival. The reason it wont get one is so simple i can use two letters to say it:
EA
Unlocking the costumes and assembling specific teams, like Xavier + Cyclops + Phoenix + Iceman was such a fun part of II
i used to love playing this at my friends house as a kid
Has it really been over ten years since the last X-Men Legends? This game was packed with charm, and atmosphere.
It's been almost 16 years! 😬
What I'd give for a part three that retained the gameplay of the 2nd one.

Are you going to review X-men legends 2 Rise of Apocalypse
please do!!
I remember buying this year's ago, nostalgia is really taking hold.
What a coincidence. I just played this game today for the first time ever, and RUclips recommends me this. A very well put essay. Having played Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I'm surprised by the sense of progression and the number of details that Legends has over its sequels and spin-offs. Also, XML combos > MUA combos. I actually wish XML2 and MUA games had the same level of care as this game does.
Thanks for watching!
Interesting take I’m gonna keep this in mind while playing
I love this game more than other and wished they bring back this game x-men legends games
Gosh l still remember that l didn't have a memory card so l couldn't save my progression. So l played the game from start to end without saving, good times
Thanks for this video mate
LEGENDS series is perhaps one of the most underrated gems of all gaming history
i always play the hell out of both LEGENDS 1 and 2
i will never forget the crime of humanity for not giving us yet a true proper LEGENDS 3 by now
there is just NO excuse
love X-MEN very dearly
and super glad that i still own both PS2, Gcube and PC version of this game
honestly i love this 2 games much more than MUA3
i was so disappointed about SO MUCH that they nerfed in MUA3
there is so many things i find wrong with it
but that would take me a wile to describe
i totally recommend doing solo - No teams runs in this games
you get to appreciate much more each of the X-men or brotherhood when you go through each situation as just one of them
also keeps the game more challenging
they did a much better job on Legends 2 by adding the REMOVE Hero mechanic
something i deeply DESPISE that they removed on MUA2 and MUA3
Good video man, totally apprecite every time i see people giving love this epic games
i subbed you in the name of X-MEN
PC version how ?
They need to remake this game. It was so banging.
Hell yea it does 🤙🏾 Your a real one for mentioning this. I still have this on GameCube.

That mid-2000s PS2 era of Marvel games is the best run of comic book based games we're ever going to get. X-Men Legends 1 and 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Hulk 2003 tie-in, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Spider-Man 1/2 tie-in, Ultimate Spider-Man, Punisher. All of those games drop within two or three years and all of them are great. It's never gonna be that good again.
I was obsessed with X-Men Legends when it came out in 2004. Rented it first, then got a copy for Christmas that year. Got X-Men Legends 2 on release date. Loved that game too. The gameplay has always been really addicting to me, I love the stories in both games, I love the customization afforded to the player with stat points, upgrades and even gear. I wish MUA 2 and 3 were closer in spirit and gameplay to these games, but I fear we'll never get a proper return to this style of game again.
So awesome to see this legend (pun intended) of a game is still talked about and noy forgotten. I friggen adore this game and was obsessed with it. Best X-Men game to date.
I love the legends series. I was glad that the ultimate alliance games finally had a 3rd game. Although I hope that should there be a third legends game, I’d prefer that they keep the tone/atmosphere and writing team of the first 2 games. Because the uA3 game was fun, but the tone wasn’t entirely the same as the first game (understandably). Given the X-men being under Disney, I hope that they do legends 3 with the origami legends team.
Love this game!! Truly the Holy Grail of video games!!
I need to break down and just buy me a copy of X-Men mutant Academy 2
I loved this game back in the day my best friend and I would pick our favorite x-men Storm and Jean Grey, kill off the other two characters and run as much of the game as we could with just the 2 of them!
I'm still playing this game on my ps2.. love it.. legends 1 & 2
Were the Man of Action behind this game the same Man of Action who created Ben 10? Because if so that's pretty cool.
He also worked on the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series but nobody is perfect lol
@@BaithNa I was about to say 😂

Marvel Nemesis Rise Of The Imperfects is pretty cool
I would like to play this game again on PS5
Legends 2 was superior in every way.
Tell that to the professional reviews!
The thing I loved about this game that they dropped as the series went along and morphed into Ultimate Alliance was the micromanagement of things like gear and upgrades. I get why they streamlined it, but I loved the less easy but far more rewarding systems setup in this game and in it's sequel.
great review man :)
Damn this game was the best, Jean was my fav and still is lol
I never played X-Men: Legends. It looks awesome. Makes me wish I could go back in time, buy the game and play it on my old PS2.
Man Of Action wrote the plot for 'X-Men Legends'? I'm shocked. Especially since they also wrote for that terrible 'Ultimate Spider-Man' cartoon.
I haven't played the X-Men Legends games yet, though I do possess them (currently packed away for transit). However, I really enjoyed both of the Ultimate Alliance titles, so once I'm relocated in some new digs, the Legends will certainly be coming out of their box.
Really, nice video, Josh.
Hope you and yours remain safe, Dude. All the best. :)
Honestly LEGENDS series is soooo much better than the entire MUAseries
to me.
totally suggest you L1 and L2
(Legends 2 was a pure evolution in so many aspects)
Xmen Legends is the more challenging game and XML2 is more fun and replayable.
Save often in XML , it is prone to an occasional green screen of death crash , usually during a heated battle when all characters ( allies and foes ) launch a simultaneous powers attacks.
In the second game , pick up and sell all unwanted and unneeded packs to keep from causing a memory crash at certain points in the game.
I absolutely love this game! This and the Hulk Destruction and Marvel Alliances are the absolute favorite games!
Especially MA cut scenes. I Get a real kick out of the acting, especially Doom's favorite line-- Make No Mistake...!

This game was one of the rare gems that actually made me want to have another playthrough! I really enjoyed playing this game after school. The graphics were much like the comics and the story was rich too
Yes finally someone sharing this awesome game
For me it was mostly the story and cinematics that kept me into it. The same with the 1st marvel ultimate alliance. Not to mention character build up
Dude you are so right!!! This game still holds up today as it did back then. I remember playing this for the first time. It reminds of both, the X-Men animated series from the 90s and also the first 2 movies directed by Bryan Singer. Getting Wolverine's classic yellow suit made me so happy. A time when you had to earn the extra content, not buying it
I love this game so much. Jean Grey is my favorite to use, she's so op in this game once you max her out.
