Captain America: Super Soldier was when the Marvel games started to get good. Kinda sad we didn't get anything for the Avengers film
We almost did
Lego avengers my boy
I love them games so underrated
When they started to get good? The peak of marvel games was late-90s to early 2000s: Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man PS1, X-men Children of the Atom, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, X-men Legends, Marvel Super Heroes, X-men vs Street Fighter.
@@kingstarscream320 Was talking about the marvel tie in games for the MCU
X-men Origins: Wolverine is definitely an underrated superhero game! One of the best I've played in a long time.
Not underrated...
Interesting....I'll have to find it.
@@BobMinelli you'll enjoy it.
Loved it too
The costumes were legit worth the effort. The skilltree moves were legit worth the effort.
It's worth playing, even now.
The 2005 punisher game never gets the respect it deserves 😔
I was thinking the same 😢
Yup coming out of that coffin with a machine gun at that Mob Funeral was and still is one of the craziest moments in gaming, and has stuck with me till now. Even the fight with the Russian was superbly done. A remake or remaster of that game is sorely needed!
Love that game
I loved that game
It's so over the top and gory most people can't really enjoy it
Arkham origins and Captain America are really good games, I'm glad they're on your list.
I’m totally fine with ignoring Arkham knight and having Origins be a member of the trilogy
@@movieman6456 absolutely, Arkham Knight was so disappointing. The story was really bad, and the bat tank so repetitive and boring.
@@movieman6456 I agree Arkham Origins was more enjoyable and a lot better than knight
Arkham origins wasn't underrated tho
I had captain America for a small time and it broke🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Arkham Origins is actually my favorite entry in the Batman Arkham series.
Definitely
The game is not canon but it is still awesome! Like how the Joel Schumacher Batman Films aren't connected or canon to The Burton Batman Films!
Same here. Still hoping it'll be re-released some day.
@@thenoirknight5729 it is canon to the other games the only thing they changed was the time span between the games but its still canon
@@justaguywitharyupfp9625 No... Please don't. Not you too...
Already became Public Enemy with 34 other people
@@thenoirknight5729 dont worry im not gonna bitch about that like other people i said what i wanted to say so im just gonna chill from now on
I rather enjoyed Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Just bought it for my 360. It’s fun but kinda challenging...in a good way.
Amazing game on ps2 such a fun game made you feel powerful like hulk
Very much.
@Im Michael it’s backwards capability’s on 360 if you have it on OG Xbox.
@Im Michael well the more you know.🙂
My two favourite underrated superheroes games are spider man edge of time and spiderman shattered dimensions. I think they should get more love.
Shattered dimensions is the original Spider-Verse! It deserve the respect for that!
@@AwesomeSpidey22 actually 90s Spider-Man animated series did it first
@@isinganddootherthings4616 but the comic is based of the game. They had the same writer.
@@pp4272 they had the same writer but the comic is not based on the game it's a separate story involving the inheritors feeding on the infinite incarnations of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman
@@isinganddootherthings4616 "The premise of a crossover between different versions of Spider-Man that was used in Shattered Dimensions later became the inspiration for the 2014 comic book storyline Spider-Verse (the main story of which was also scripted by Dan Slott), which would go on to become one of the most popular and media adapted Spider-Man story-arcs, including a 2018 animated film titled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"
“Marvel Nemesis: Rise Of The Imperfects” should be on this list.
Yoo that game was f*cken awesome i played that for the gamecube
@@zhazdelang8333 I’m glad you remember it, none of my friends do lol
NOW WERE TALKING
This game was one of the greatest surprises for me on the PS2, got it just because marvel was on tittle. What a pleasant surprise, we gathered all my neighborhood friends and famaly to play the versus mod.
The Earth X costume is actually the venom costume of Mayday Parker.
Ah, I see. I haven't actually read Earth X but I looked up the wiki and it said Peter wore it too.
One of mine would be Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. My friend who is a big Hulk fan never in his life heard of Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and I feel like it's an easy Top 10-20 superhero game.
Also, not based on any license but Viewtiful Joe was an amazing game and I don't think it caught on at all like it should have. It's part superhero appeal, part moviegoer appeal and it's a really sharp and distinct game.
Ultimate destruction was awesome
Viewtiful Joe was the bomb yo.
Another underrated game that comes to mind would be Hulk (2003) movie game.
Fun fact: the music for The Adventures of Batman and Robin MegaDrive game was done by Jesper Kyd; the genius behind the early Assassins' Creed soundtracks!
I never owed the first Spider-man PS1 game (only played it through friends) I did have Enter Electro though, so that was my Spider-man game growing up. Still love it. I have the whole "Previously on Spider-man" thing they do at the beginning of the game memorized.
I also really enjoyed the Captain America game and Arkham Origins.
It's pretty neat how they recap the entire first game in that opening. There's a lot to love about the sequel for sure.
Finally some recognition for the Ghost Rider game!
Godzilla Mendoza recently did a video ok it!
@@-Teague- Yup got a notif! Nobody cares during release but few years down the line everybody praises...becoming a fad, this.
@@thecritiquenut yeah haha. At least older games are getting a chance
@@-Teague- True!
Villains: "It's impossible!! HOW?! It's like he's got unlimited batarangs!!"
Batman: "It's becau--"
Villains: "Don't you f***in' say it!"
Batman: "Cuz I'm batman!!"
I kept my Sega Cap America game cause i really like the combat, reminded me of Path of Neo
That Green Lantern game is secretly kind of great. Like Ghost Rider, it's a shameless PS2 era God of War clone and it's co-op. That game is what got the devs at Double Helix the job to remake Killer Instinct.
Yeah, I felt bad dunking on Green Lantern but it kind of typifies 'middle of the road' to me.
Yeah I actually liked the green lantern game. And he missed out on an older genesis X-men game ( I forget the name, but to play as Magneto was awesome!!)
I'd have included Fantastic Four (2005)
Great game
So would I.
Great video, mate! Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro was actually my childhood jam.
Batman Arkham Origins is fantastic. I know it was a different group that made it, but Origins not being included in the "Arkham Collection" was stupid. It is backwards compatible though and very much worth another playthrough.
The old Punisher game looks sick. I haven’t even heard of it since this year.
Spider-Man: Friend or Foe! Criminally underrated
Arkham Oriigns’ main issue was the time it came out.
Arkham Knight coming out was definitely one of the reasons it got ignored but another big reason was that it didn’t feel that different from Arkham City, it even used the same map with an extra section or two that wasn’t in City.
As for the game itself, it’s good on its’ own.
The batman/deathstroke fight was one of the best boss fights in the arkham series
If not the best
@Im Michael you can believe that if you want but I have more fun with Deathstroke.
Completely agree on Cap America Super Soldier and First Avenger being the most underrated game in the MCU.
I've been saying for years now that Captain America and Arkham Origins are amazing games. The latter is my second-favorite Arkham game after City. Immensely glad to hear someone else say it for once!
It's so annoying how you can't get it on current consoles
Man, I seriously need to get around to playing Captain America. The more I see if it the better it looks.
Where's Deadpool? That game is greatly underrated.
I'm not a big Deadpool guy but I've been meaning to go back to that one.
it's good but the last level and repetitive gameplay kinda ruined it for me.
@@NeroLeMorte Every game is eventually repetitive. IDK why ppl always use that excuse.
@@EmperorGuyver it's an excuse because the endgame boss was shit and you had to keep on fighting the same mister sinister clones over and over again until you die of frustration. You look at other good games with better game mechanics and a wide variety of enemies to fight and while yeah they can get repetitive but not to this extent.
So i stand by my claim of this game being reptitive which it still is in a negative sense. God eater and monster hunter being good games with repetitive gameplay but actual good combat system and game mechanics. In those games unlike deadpool the repetition is actually fun you don't die alot from unfair deaths or a mediocre combat system.
@@NeroLeMorte You must've just been plain garbage cause i never had that much problem with bosses or gameplay. Also, the multiple clones were part of the joke in the story. Clearly you just need to complain..
The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and Ultimate Spider-man were really good too
What about Edge of Time?
Great video! One game that I think often gets overlooked is Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 2! It has an amazing story, quality voice acting and a great theme! I really love it!
Benny D ain't a bad Spider-Man but his Venom is 👌
For me it's a straight away feeling on how the character moves. Ghost Rider and Captain America were solid entries.
Great video mate
The Batman Begins adaptation was surprisingly solid, and had some features that the Arkham games would implement later on. Oh, and unlike Arkham Knight, the Batmobile sequences are actually fun and don't overstay their welcome.
I loved Arkham origins and played it several times, I pre ordered the game and got Deathstroke, such a cool character. Plus I like the Mr. Freeze Dlc and the little dlc that has bruce wayne in the ninja outfit.
The freeze dlc is easily one of the best dlc in history, and the best out of all the arkham games, it was like a whole new story mode
I still genuinely think Amazing Spider-Man on the 360/ps3 is super underrated
I agree
He says Ghost Rider is a “God of War Clone” when in fact it is very clearly a Devil May Cry Clone. There’s even a style meter that goes from D to S.
No...😑
I think Spawn: In the Demon's Hand should've been mentioned, that game was Great and highly underrated
The moment I heard the X-Men jingle intro, I liked and subbed. Respect 😁
Thanks for subscribing!
Excellent list! I remember having a lot of fun with Spider-Man 2 back in the day.
The hud, a style meter, Ghost Rider is more Devil May Cry than God of War
Just wondering are you Diego and Xavier going to do your autosaving the day RUclips videos again I really liked the Daredevil and Guardian's of the Galaxy game pitch videos you guys did I enjoyed seeing your ideas in those videos
I love that you're playing the soundtrack to the Mega Drive's "Captain America & The Avengers" during the "Super Soldier" game breakdown. 😁
So I'm happy you mentioned the Adventures of Batman and Robin on Genesis. No ONE talks about this game. Yeah it's weird as hell that a Batman game is Contra like but it's a HELLA good time, challenging, great graphics, music and gameplay. So good
The DS versions of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions are pretty underrated metroidvanias. While the exploration and story are decent, it's the movement and combat system that makes that game. I love just wasting time on the training room just doing combo strings and webswinging from one edge to the other. Lots of potential in those games
Wierd handheld "ports" that are secretly just metroidvania tie-ins/adaptations is a whole wierd but fun genre to itself haha
It's been a long time since I heard that joke. Great video dude! Love the games you chose, especially Batman & Robin.
I only had a Genesis when I was growing up, and honestly, The Adventures of Batman and Robin is one of my favorite games on the system. It's balls-to-the-wall difficult, but very satisfying.
Also, I'm glad that you mentioned the kickass soundtrack. IMO, it's up there with Streets of Rage for best Genesis OST.
I remember my friends and I couldn't even FIND that Spider-Man 2 game when it was supposed to have been out. We knew of it's awesomeness, we just didn't get a chance to experience it.
I remember that death stroke fight and I’d say easily best fight out of all super hero games or even any game as a matter of fact. That fight was insane I’ve never struggled so bad in my life💀
10:37 this game reminds me of Batman year One back when the cops didn't believe he was real nor the criminals and once he shows up and the criminals talk about a bat while being scared straight you know something's going down
Spider-Man games like ultimate spider-man, spider-man web of shadows, spider-man shattered dimensions, spider-man edge of time and the amazing spider-man 1 movie game is really fun and underrated in my opinion I'd have included them on the list Man
I really agree with everything in this video!
I too loved Ghost Rider, even though basically no one ever mentions it.
Its seems whenever anyone mentions Arkham Origins they only go on about how underrated it was so it really can't be that underrated
That Captain America game is great. I remember mainlining it in a single weekend.
I'm glad I bought most of these games for my older systems I can't find Enter Electro but I will one day and hopefully I can find it for under $30 damn it
How do you make gunstar heroes better?
Enters Adventures of Batman and Robin.
Arkham origins multi-player was surprisingly fun when it worked too! I loved this game. Me and my brother played the multi-player on ps3 as often as possible back then lol
Batman and robin on mega drive looks amazing, one of best looking MD games. Gravity Rush 1&2 plays like great superhero game. I know they aren't based on superhero comics/manga, but they definitely feels like one.
SO freaking happy Captain America SS made this list. So many people wrote this game off because the Thor game was mediocre but it really is a great game that deserves more respect.
I have every achievement for that Cap game on the 360 I loved it so much. Some of those shield takedowns were just so brutal and reflecting bullets felt amazing. I even liked that Green Lantern game and have all the achievements for it too, forcing my friend to be Sinestro playing co-op with me lol. My favorite Arkham game might be origins now that I really think about it. When the game launched the combat was a little bit messed up, the timing was off. They fixed things with a patch and the game was great after that. I really liked the approach to the boss fights and the Deathstroke battle was great. My gamertag is Superman New 52 if anyone wants to see the achievements lol. I can have fun with less than perfect games as long as I like the characters enough. Tenchu Z is another underrated game.
If you get a chance check out Invincible Iron Man and also Fantastic Four: Flame On for the GameBoy Advance. They’re real hidden gems!!
Good shout. I'm not much of a handheld guy but my RUclipsr buddy Diego Rivera covered these games on his channel.
The punisher on Xbox/PS2 is a really great game
Strangely, you didn’t say a word about the adventures of Batman and Robin being co-op...
i never understood the hate for the arkham origins game. I absolutely loved that game and honestly loved it more than arkham city. The number of skins, the online mode, and just so much villains. i absolutely loved it. The stealth missions and challenge mode missions were the best theyve ever been at the time. it was way more enjoyable than the previous 2 arkham games for me at the time
Batman: Arkham Origins, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, and Captain America: Super Soldier are definitely underrated. If Arkham Origins was made officially as an Elseworld and Super Soldier had more time to be developed, these 2 would be way better and more remembered today
I absolutely loved the Captain America game! Played that so much when it came out
Loved Captain America: Super-Soldier and it was the game that showed that it was best to have a game version that was linked to the movie and not a game version of the story of the movie. The game was kinda based on one of the missions from the second montage scene of the movie, the first one was Cap selling war bonds. They kinda did the same with the first Amazing Spider-Man movie, but it was based on a story that happened after the movie, while at first I thought the second ASM game based on the second movie was a prequel, but ended up wondering what the makers were smoking. Actually liked Arkham Origins and in a way it did feel like a add-on of Arkham City, since it was partly made of modified reused stuff, but it was interesting to see Old Gotham the way it looked before it was trashed and also explore the other side, New Gotham, that you only saw in the background in City.
That side scroll Batman game was amazing
Ghost rider ps2 WAS AMAzing
Super Soldier and Origins do need more love. Flipping Gospel!
My picks: The Darkness, X Men Origins: Wolverine, Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver, Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay, and that Maximum Carnage game
I love how the first was more lighthearted and cartoony and the second game was more gritty and dark.
I thought the watchmen game was fine for a mindless brawler personally. I completely agree on Captain America, criminally underrated .
I had ghost rider and never knew you could play as Blade... I’m so mad I never got to experience that
No Wolverine Orgins video game?
I've talked about that game so many times, it's one of my all-time faves.
Shocker and hammerhead are awesome villians.
I got The Adventures of Batman and Robin as a kid and was initially disappointed with it because it wasn't the type of Batman game I was expecting it to be. But since I didn't have many games back then, I played the crap out of it anyway, and learned to appreciate the hardcore run 'n' gun gameplay and the mind blowing technical feats the game did on hardware designed back in 1987. Today I absolutely love that game. It might not be a great "Batman game" but it's still a great game nonetheless.
I always thought the Ghost Rider game more like a Devil May Cry clone rather than a God of War. Specially with that grade/combo meter system that changes while you hit enemies
I remember absolutely loving ps2 Batman Begins, but nobody talks about it ever.
Other then the framerate the captain america game was pretty good and had amazing combat......throwing the shield felt satisfying and the ragdoll physics was hilarious to watch especially the special punches in slowmo
Funny enough, I love Telltale's Guardians game and I enjoyed its story more than the second movie.
I haven't played either Spider-Man on PlayStation nor Spider-Man 2 enter electro but I am familiar with both games because back when I was a child I watched playthroughs of them on You Tube and looking at both games I actually do like Enter Electros story and graphics a lot better than the first game.
It's a shame that people didn't play Thor for 3ds. It was a surprisingly good game.
I really enjoyed the punisher game from the mid 2000s. Dont know if its considered underrated, but thought id bring it up.
There was a Batman game that was released on the ps2! I can’t think of the name of it but it was really awesome and the AI was spot on IMO? I never finished the game due to the new systems getting released but till this very day, that felt like a true Batman game!
Batman: Vengeance?
No Ultimate Alliance 1?
As much as I love MUA, I don't consider it underrated.
So I bought Captain America: Super Soldier on this video's recommendation. It arrived today. I've played 5 minutes of it and I gotta tell you... I freaking LOVE it! Thought I was gonna talk shit about it, right? Ha ha too much internet. Any way thanks so much for the recommendation!
Glad you're digging it!
Captain America was great. Also loved Punisher for PS2
Josh, I too, love Captain America Super Soldier on the Xbox 360 but I beg you to get, play and review the Captain America Super Soldier game on the Wii. It is a different game by a different developer, High Voltage. High Voltage went with an awesome cartoon/comic art style and I love it. Also, the game is just very different despite being the same story line. High Voltage incorporated some focus modes for shield throwing which feels amazing with the Wii remote and you can block with the shield like the 360 version but you can also adjust the direction of the shield and direct the ricochets to kill the shooters. Amazing technique not in the 360 version. You can also walk with the shield which is also not in the 360 version. It's not as realistic looking and you don't pick up the amount of collectibles like the very ala Arkham like 360 version but the combat style is just as good if not better. Platforming is better too. And that art is just gold. I love the Wii version! Please check it out, let me know your thoughts and would love a dedicated review of that game. Thanks. Great content!
I like guardians of the galaxy
I paused, rewinded and got my headphones. I got effed up. Like a million batarangs hitting me in my ear. And then the other ear. And then the other ear. And then the other ear.
Great list, indee this are fun games.
I have to agree with you on the Captain America tie-in game. It's an aggressively average game, but still fun to play. Yes, the combat feels like it was ripped from Arkham Asylum. And yes, the platforming feels like the acrobatics of Prince of Persia got turned into a quick-time event. But it's a surprisingly fun game. Especially considering how bad movie tie-in games tend to be.
I love all these joints!!!
Honestly a modern Ghost Rider game in the style like Devil May Cry 5 would be amazing.
I’m a fan of iron man one the game it was DOPE
Arkham Origins is THE underrated superhero game. Breaks my heart.
You can make another one of these. A volume two if you will.
I saw Ghost Rider.
My childhood kicked in.
I remember playing captain American and just being really impressed
