Avengers: Endgame is here. You've seen it, I've seen it, even your mum has seen it. But to celebrate the end of the MCU's 11 year journey (for now), Josh from Panels to Pixels is heading back to where it all began. This video is a celebration of the first wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and, more specifically, the tie-in video games that were released alongside them. So strap on your quantum realm suit and travel back to the pre-2012 world of terrible video games. You might just discover a few surprises along the way...

I'm so annoyed we don't get Movie licensed games nowadays cause imagine a game based on the John Wick films or Kingsman or Pacific Rim? I can picture a kingdom hearts styled game based on Ready Player One.
In terms of superheroes, I'd kill for a Daredevil, Flash, Ant Man or modern Iron Man game.

We didn't need Open Season 2 The Game or Over The Hedge The Game, but I'm glad they exist either way.

Hulk Ultimate Destruction was a way better Hulk game than the movie tie in which was horrible, agree though the Captain America game was actually pretty good.

Incredible hulk was a buggy mess that was trying and failing to be like ultimate destruction

The revenge of the sith tie in game was actually really good. It offered a look into order 66 and has the best lightsabre combat in any star wars game.

The "new" MGU needs work, alot of work in order to prevent this from happening again.
Unlikely they'll ever make a console tie in game again. There's no money in it anymore. People and publishers either want standalone superhero games (like Arkham or Spiderman ps4) or mobile games

IDK what The Ramirez Series is, or if you just misspelled the Raimi series but yeah. The first two X-men films and the original spider-man films where a few good superhero-movies that were made before the MCU. (spider-man 3 is ofc debatable and there are very split thoughts on the movie but I liked it).
They aren't in the video cuz they're not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

I know it isn't MCU, but I think we can all agree that "Spiderman 2" is the best superhero movie tie in game of all time.
It's close but X-Men Origins: Wolverine just has the edge for me.

I remember seeing Iron Man 1 (360) at Fry’s Electronics on display. There was a playable demo and the graphics blew my mind. It still holds up pretty well outside of the cutscenes.
I love the mcu, but there were a lot of good comic book movies before 2008

I'm glad I got this comment though because I wanted to point out that the intro is all for comedic effect - Superman, Batman and Batman Returns, TMNT, Blade, Spider-Man 1 and 2, X-Men 1 and 2. Some of my favourite movies ever and all made before most people had ever even heard of Iron Man.

Anton Duroj Bidstrup animated movies aside, because they’re on their own league, the first two X Men, Spider-Man, and Batman Begins were probably the best at the time.

I had the Iron Man game on PS2, much different experience than the Xbox 360 version, and I loved every second of it.
Captain America: The First Avenger was a real gem of a game.

They're both fine movies, just kinda boring compared to the Batman and Spider-Man movies we were getting at the time.
Iron man 2 was so damn fun it was difficult but until I knew I can upgrade my weapons damage and armor 🤦🏽♂️😂 the Incredible Hulk was fun but never finished it, there was a part with bees I had a broken controller that time I could never finish the game🤦🏽♂️

Imagine if we had gotten a real Winter Soldier game in the vein of Super Soldier but better in every way. Open environments, better combat with more flair. New shield tricks. A good story.

@@raidenstark315 what was confirmed? Agents of Shield? While it certainly had AoS tributes and reference, Kevin Feige has said that none of the shows thus far aside from the Disney+ originals are canon. The Darkhold exists in Marvel, not exclusively in Agents of Shield.

@@loserscorner6746 When has Kevin Feige actually said that? I see many people making this claim but couldn't find a statement from Feige explicitly stating that AoS isn't canon, which would explain why people continue to debate whether it's canon or not.
The show has many references about the events of the MCU and directly ties into the MCU on several occasions. Of course there are a few plot points from the MCU that are not mentioned in the show, but they originally did plan for it to be canon.
They might just confirm it to be canon now since Daredevil is getting a show again, and initially they were planning to make it a reboot but now it's confirmed to be a continuation of the Netflix series, therefore confirming that the Netflix shows are canon to the MCU too not just the Disney+ originals. In this case they'd most likely keep AoS canon to the MCU as well.

I don't get Iron Man 2 (movie) criticism. Sure nothing is perfect and they forced in pre-baked Avengers tie-ins, but as far as I'm concerned, the Iron Football and final battle scene were well worth the price of admission. One of my favorite MCU movies to be honest.
And how on earth could we get to Endgame if they hadn't forced pre-baked Avengers tie-ins?

I miss those movie tie in game days. If I liked a movie, I would plop the extra money for the game. And if I didn't enjoy it, I'd just return it. I kinda wish we could have tie in games again

Never thought Insomniac would ever end up making Marvel games, but I think they've got the right formula for Spiderman. Even though it won't be MCU, I would love to see a full universe of games from them. As long as they're still able to make games they love.

Where did licensed games go, we used to get all sorts of games on all sorts of films releasing side by side for maximum profit. I just loved it tho, some were good some were meh but I wish we could just get it nowadays. I remember the likes of the batman begins game, the tmnt game alongside the movie, there was the die hard trilogy on ps1, the lord of the rings games, I had loads of superhero games, Spider-Man 2000, movie games 1, 2, 3, friend or foe, shattered dimensions, web of shadows, tasm1 and 2, hulk, hulk ultimate destruction, the Incredible Hulk, Iron man 1 and 2 there were just so many. I miss the variety we used to get.

When I was little I really enjoyed the Iron Man 1 and 2 games and I still do.
I wish companies would just make 8 or 16 bit style movie tie ins…low budget low risk projects…Guardians of the Galaxy would have been perfect for an arcade beat em up based on all the 80’s music and references.

Exactly! I was semi hoping Sony interactive could collab with Marvel to pull it off(Because at this point in time Sony is the only company with enough studios and Determination to make the MGU. Or Marvel interactive universe,MIU.) With a tie in to spider man ps4. Buuuut Marvel's avengers seems to say Nuh. Well,lets hope de-canonize avengers and start the MIU properly,with singular games. Then avengers.
I wish that these types of videos would cover all the weird versions as well there are iPhone versions, DS versions, PSP versions, and Wii versions which are usually quite different. And in some cases like the DS THOR game you bring up actually great games.

Thor DS was the only game i needed. It took me forever to beat Surtur and it made it even better whenever I moved up in the story
I'm surprised you didn't mention the PS2/Wii Iron Man game. I personally couldn't stand the PS3/360 version. But I did enjoy the Wii version.

Exactly! Aquaman: battle for Atlantis is considered one one of the worst games ever made! He deserves a game that shows off the true power he possesses. I thought that Rocksteady studios could try their hand at making an Aquaman game similar to the Arkham series.

I'm so sick and tired of people saying "The combat copies Batman Arkham games" when actually the 2004 Spider-man game was actually the first to have that free flow combat, and it had the Spider sense thing that lets players know when to dodge.

The Iron Man 2 game competes with Thor: God of Thunder in terms of being the worst. At least the DS version of the Thor game was good.
Dark World is definitely not even close to being considered as the worst MCU movie now. Back in Phase 3 itself, we had Antman and the Wasp, and Captain Marvel competing in that regard. As of now, the MCU has released more worse movies and out of them, Antman 3 has taken the worst spot.
No need for Avengers A-Day when we have these beautiful masterpieces
