The problem I had with X-Men Legends was your characters don’t start to feel like their comic book counterparts until the final legs of the game. Then you beat Master Mold and it’s over, with no new game+ option or even a stage select. There is no way to start off with full powered up characters, which I feel was a major flaw.

It doesn't 'really' work as a fix, but I remember noticing that one specific training exercise in the Danger Room could reward the team with utterly silly amounts of XP to quickly level up. You could only get it after progressing though about half the game anyway however, and also need to play the same exercise multiple times.

Oh god, that mission is just.....what I would have given to have Jean Grey back on that mission, since I loved to use her the most, which made the characters a little more underleveled than I have liked. At that point in the game too was just a difficulty spike to have her absent. If you go in without Iceman and one of Storm or Cyclops, you are boned by the time you get to the welding mission. Iceman is literally the only character who can put out fires and build bridges, unless you upgrade Storm’s tornadoes, which is useful, but not preferable to the lightning strike that hits so much harder at any range.

They need to have a sequel to X-Men Legends 2 which features Mr Sinister as the main antagonist (after all, he’s still around when X-Men Legends 2 wrapped, cackling like a madman). I wonder if they could secure a nice ensemble of voice actors to perform the roles with these four dudes being the top picks
Patrick Stewart- he’s the one and only Professor X.
Steve Blum- he’s the definitive voice of Wolverine in all known media i.e. animated series and games.
Tom Kane- he does a pretty nice impression of Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Troy Baker- he would be Mr Sinister since Mr Baker has the ability to portray noble heroes and dastardly villains.

  • @BraveHeartedHero1

The early game in this is hard. The best way to do it is to make sure you fight everything to gain experience while also taking advantage of the danger room. If you are low on resources you run a danger room mission to refill them. A first time run through of a mission enemies will drop items and money. You also gain experience to help with those tunnels at the end. If you go barebones and try to blitz your way through that tunnel section will murder you and you will pretty much be gated at that point.

I actually prefer X-Men legends to all those that came after it. I liked the respawn system that forced you to level up and learn to use other X-Men. I liked the skill system more too. And even the health items. I liked learning how each character could interact with their environments.
And you, sir, only had a hard time because you ran into every fight with fisticuffs and Cyclops. Yes, there were often huge mobs of dudes just waiting to kill you on the other side of a door or wall. You have Jean Grey and Storm at your side. USE THEM!! Storm and her chain lightning made her my #1 sniper!! All of her points went into energycapacity and lightningbolt upgrades.
Fighting sentinels? Really tough! Unless you have Iceman, Gambit and Jubilee. Iceman freezes/slows them and then Gambit/Jubilee can actually charge them and make them blow themselves up!
Too many enemies to feasibly punch your way out of? Use Emma Frostto mentally dominate them and make them

I could easily buff up Wolverine with to run and attack insanely fast, do insane damage, and take zero damage all the time and just walk through the game. Could skip everything as bosses with Nightcrawler if I wanted. Press 1 button to kill everything with Jean Gray. I could even kill people from the edge of the screen with Cyclops. A lot of people don't know that you can grind to get levels in Danger Room missions if you deliberately fail them. You still get XP for defeating enemies
There's also a danger room disc on the final morlocks sewers mission that gives you insanely stupid amounts of XP when you defeat a certain type of enemy
This game also has really awesome voice acting and a spectacular soundtrack.

And if they do, keep the same writing/tone as the first 2 games. You could tell there was a lot of care in the game that kicked off blum’s legacy as the main stay wolverine voice actor, but it paved the way for MUA. Anytime I play the games, I just play XL1,2, and MUA1. I dug MUA 3 since it’s fun, but I wish they kept the tone of MuA1 and the previous legends games. Legends 2 is solid though, especially since they had Deadpool and Ironman as a back door that lead to MUA.

And to constantly be stocked on health/energy packets and make some loot is to replay early Danger Room missions (without completing the objective, otherwise money and packets don't respawn). Marvel vs Capcom 2 further cemented my adoration for Slim after it came out on 360.

Each character is better for different things. My favorite comp is and AoE CC team. Jean is AMAZING. She can walk into a room and kill anyone without psychic resistances with telekinesis. Cyclops’ optic blast can one shot most characters that don’t have energy resistances. Wolverine is good for hand to hand and you can spam berserker rage to get across the map quickly. Having Storm, Iceman or Jubilee provide nice CC or debuffs against the enemy. If you don’t need CC, take Rogue or Colossus (and even Emma if you build her right) to have a super solid tank. Other characters like Magma have multiple uses.
You can build her as a glass cannon brawler or a glass cannon that works from range. Psylocke is good for either, but I prefer her at range with Deathbird’s Javelin. Beast is kind useless, imo. But he’s the only one that doesn’t have a ton of use.

    • @robertmurdock1848
      @robertmurdock1848 3 года назад

Beast is fine , avoid his extreme attack and critical strike passive. Build his skills and buff , put all stat points into focus. Get an effective piece of damage inceasing equipment to enhance his skills.
Put good support characters as his teammates.
Colossus and Rogue's skill punch may be powerful , but are frequently avoided by enemies. Beast connects with damage to multiple enemies far more frequently.

The problem of health packs, energy packs and tech bits was an easy one to solve. You got to keep any items you got from Danger Room challenges whether you completed them or not. And you could access the Danger Room from most Xtraction points. However, the courses stopped giving you items once you completed the course so all you had to do was find a course that was generous in giving you items and never complete it. Either don't complete all the objectives or quit. The Qualification Exam 100 (which you find in the second mission) was very good for this. After you find it, you can get as many items and tech bits as you wanted.

My ONLY hate for it is that it didn't have a saved statistic for leveling and no extract ability like the later games. Music of the game is just MWAH. It's actually fairly easy if you get the hang of just spamming your main R2 X move, and also just make sure to increase things like iceman's cold crush so punches do ridiculous energy damage even on physical resisting guys. It does suck that wolverine and cyc are mandatory inclusions along with a flight character and bridge maker. Iceman is also one of the best characters so having him on a team is just. Great.

I managed to beat this game when I was like 12 somehow. One of the hardest experiences gaming I’ve ever played, because this one didn’t have cheat codes but I was determined to win either way.

I only played this game a few years ago and had the exact same experience as you at the start - distinctly remember everyone being incapacitated except Wolverine and Rogue because of their durability, leaving them to infiltrate this Baltic fortress alone. Which to be fair, felt very true to the comics. My only complaint about ultimate alliance is that you never really felt like you were struggling, characters are seldom down for long. This on the other hand had a genuine feeling of peril.

Idk much about the sequel, but the music was apparently good enough that it got plagiarized by a guy who worked on the music for dbz games

I just played this game on GameCube for the first time by myself. This game poses zero challenge after the first couple of missions. The only times I died was accidentally falling off the map outside of combat. You get so many group wide buffs it is ridiculous. Use Jean Grey or Storm or both, and your entire team is invincible since their buffs are team wide and give a flat -50 to damage taken. Jean Grey can solo most of the game, just spamming her aoe attack. It is fun to use Jean, Cyclops, and Gambit with their buffs maxed out to buff up one of the melee characters to just auto attack everything to death while running around like the flash. My main team was Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler. I used Rogue, Storm, Iceman, Gambit, and Emma Frost a few times each. I have no idea how anyone other than Dean Takahashi could think this game is hard. MUA3 is like 10,000x harder (fuck MODOK and Dormammu) that game is not even hard as I just got stuck on a handful of bosses. I am not bragging at all btw I suck at games all of my friends in my friend group are waaaaay better than me at every game we play. It looks like he just didn't bother to use characters other than Wolverine. You need to do combo attacks to deal good damage without buffs and the AI does way less damage with attacks than the player so you need to switch to someone else for physical resistant enemies at least. Try Cyclops for them he is really good with lasers. Also game was never released on PC so is obviously just emulating a console version. Jean Grey can make bridges too you know same with Magma don't need to use Iceman. There are alternate costumes but you have to beat the game once to unlock them sadly. Man looks like you guys didnt use a single buff the whole game no wonder you had a hard time 😂

This game drove me crazy too! I got both X-Men Legends games at the same time, but couldn't make it further than a couple missions in either game. I refused to even attempt Ultimate Alliance because of how frustrating this was.

XML2 is way easier than this first one ,
I still frequently die if I don't play the early levels accurately .
In the 2nd one , the only death I usually suffer is Cpu controlled Toad jumping off the screen to his death in the narrow Cerci tunnels.

I was so hyped over this game as a kid when it first came out but it definitely had some really frustrating moments. I died a bunch on the single player intro and still do any time I go back to it. My first playthrough I accidentally saved on that part with the bomb timer when the timer was too low to do anything and had to start the game over because its the only save file. Didn't go back to the game for months after that but when I did my game glitched out bad on the Marrow boss fight and had to start over again. I was also having trouble with the enemies overall difficulty but later on figured out as long as you stop to fight every single one so you dont miss out on any leveling up you'll be pretty good. Also some grinding in the danger room helps too.

For me when I first played this game recently on the PlayStation 2 one good thing is there’s so many save slots. the difficulty of this game it’s kinda hard to get used too for new players who don’t play rpgs but when u get used to it it’s easier. The tunnels and other areas of the game can be difficult but used grind and try to manage ur resources and u will be fine but on the second time playing the whole game again it’s so hard on the last mission

I have so many great memories of this game, the second, and the first ultimate alliance on PS2 doing couch co-op with my best friend through junior high and high school. I remember Storm was a beast if you upgraded her ability that her melee attacks did electricity damage, she'd still wreck the enemies that were physical resistant

I liked this game back in the day but yeah it was pretty freaking hard I remember I actually had to start the whole game over because of a level that had a timer and I saved the game at a point I couldn't beat the level in time it was pretty annoying

I think that this was the first game that I seriously tried to optimize my gameplay. I remember having trouble on the second mission too, so I took to grinding in the danger room up to level 10 at minimum before continuing the mission. On real slow summer days I would grind up and plan stat allocations for the whole cast until hitting level 20. From that point on it was fun playing an elite team of overpowered xmen for the rest of the game.
But seriously, the x mansion and all the little details made me fall in love with the xmen franchise more than any other piece of media.

little bits of info I remember about the game
    1. Characters like Iceman Storm Jean Gambit Jubilee Magma & Nightcrawler it's important to upgrade energy consumption and efficiency so they can fly/glide and use their abilities almost *infinitly*
    2. Cyclops and Storm need piercing upgraded to further chain their energy attacks
    3. Other than Iceman; Jean Psylocke Emma Frost & Magma could also make paths
    4. There are actual combos into launchers and abilities
    5. You could use the environment as apart of your combo finishers for extra damage either sending them flying backwards or through an object
    6. Jean could levitate objects and enemies (bigger objects when fully upgraded vs barley lifting and pushing enemies back with 1 skill point in the ability) by pressing and holding her telekinesis ability; you could throw said enemy or object in any direction with left joystick
    7. Gambit & Jubilee could detonate any environmental or enemy type
    8. Nightcrawler could teleport room to room even through walls and clear entire levels
    9. You could play as Havok and the Brotherhood in the Danger Room (minus Magneto)

@@TONYZANDERZ Oh man Colossus I near always had on my squad after getting him! His legend smash (the maxed version of his punch move) was the strongest power in the game by sheer number value.
