Other than being the Asia financial centre, having the best shopping malls and delicious food … Hong Kong has some world class hiking trails for those who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Though Hong Kong is small, it’s compact and has a bit of everything. It’s a convenient, diversified and energetic city. Have a wonderful time in HK and safe travel.

Hong Kong is one of those places we feel like we need to revisit. Our first time, we stayed in a pretty nasty, tiny hotel room. It was during a heat wave, so it was BRUTALLY hot. It's also just so intensely overcrowded, that the combo of all these things put a damper on our trip. On the other hand, there were so many things we LOVED. The food especially. Really can't wait to revisit and give it another go!
And we totally had that same Tesla experience here in Budapest. Had absolutely no idea how to get in. But it was amazing. 😂
Yes we totally get that, the wrong area or wrong hotel can really impact your experience, hope you guys do give it another go! 🤩
Which hotel was this? Hong Kong's a pretty big business and tourism destination, so a major hotel offering a dirty experience is quite rare and would raise eyebrows. That said, space is definitely at a premium and the rooms will be smaller compared to other cities.
@@canto_v12 It was called United Co-operate Hotel. It was all we could afford at the time, and it was still one of the most expensive hotel rooms we've ever booked. 😂
As a local resident, welcome to Hong Kong! If you want to feeling the local culture of Hong Kong, I suggest going to Sham Shui Po. Which are the best place you can feeling local culture in Hong Kong. You can eat many kinds of Hong Kong food with the cheapest price. ( Sham Shui Po are the place most grass-roots resident at Hong Kong.)

tesla ride is a great idea! 20:45 that random noodle shop you get in is a tiny place thats away from major traffic, popular for local only. The noodle is next level definition to "full of favor", its my fav dish too, and I worked on that street 30 years ago😂 Fort Street, Hong Kong Island, Mak Kee Yummy for whoever interested.
We were there two weeks ago. Hong Kong is still beautiful with less tourists from the mainland. Prices of food have gone up but subway MTR is efficient as always.
The MTR was super efficient and affordable and the trams too, we did find some food spots that were great too - we were pleasantly surprised 😍

@@yongzhu8454 Unfortunately it's a lot more complicated as visiting Shenzhen requires a separate visa for foreigners. But maybe they will do it next time!

Mongkok means busy corner in Cantonese, so it’s actually the busiest street in Hong Kong especially at night, literally people mountain people ocean, that’s another Cantonese term.

You ordered “Mala” wonton. “Ma”=numb “La”=spicy, as in hot. The numbness is due to the addition of Chinese Peppercorns which has a chemical that functions similar to topical anesthetic. Therefore, your mouth feels numb. Mala is the claim to fame for Szechuan food. Many other regions have spicy food but without the “Ma” effect. Citizens of HK, China, are extremely hard workers. Remembered a time when a typhoon just blew by, and within hours, all the shops were opened for business as usual. Amazing work ethics. HK is dear to my heart!

I think the numbness you experienced while eating those noodles was you biting to sichuan pepper. It is added to dishes to remove the pain caused by chili, leaving only the taste and "hotness" without pain. Normally you shouldn't bite the peppers, instead remove them or avoid eating them.

Welcome to Hong Kong, a place I have wanted to go for a long time. How cool it is that a family member of both of you visited over 15 yrs ago. I wonder if a coke is sweet like the USA OR Tart like Tokyo. I am so sad your not spending 2 wks, ONLY 4 Days. U realize I have not visited yet, I find $$ very reasonable for ONLY those who book in advance and make plans from looking online often and seeing other visitors. You can still find hotels in Kowloon with private bathroom for under $$50.00US per night. The lights over the harbor at night look amazing. Taxi reminds me 100% from Japan. Absolutely love cheese. Loved seeing both of you take a tram for the 1ST Time. Absolutely would love to watch them make dumplings, delicious and lunch made me extremely hungry, YUM YUM. Winner for me hands down was the egg tart and absolutely love them so much. I hope you remember me and Merry Christmas To Both Of YOU. PS I am extremely far behind on your videos

2. HK egg tarts are based on British egg custard tarts, since HK was a former British colony. The Portuguese ones are like their cousin.

What an experience HONG KONG I get to see a country that I was always curious about to see, too bad it is only for 4 days as you mentioned, for me it is too far to visit but I am cheating and watching your vlogs, it is so well done that it is like being there, I think I am more excited than you guys are, I thought living in Canada Toronto was one of the expensive countries but now I see we are not alone, beautiful shops and name brands around. keep on vlogging and don't stop, you guys are my legs God bless you until the next vlog, can't wait . :)

HK is a real life Gotham City or Blade Runner. It's beautiful in it's infrastructure and beautiful with it's nature. Also, i would argue one of the most tourist friendly cities in the world, especially for English speakers.

Initially I thought you both were from the UK, pleasantly surprised when you said you’re South African. So from one South African to another….i just stumbled across your channel and really loved your video…was refreshing to watch a first impressions video this authentic. I say authentic coz it appears as if you guys had done little research before visiting HK (I don’t say this to be nasty) Hong Kong is arguably my second most favourite city in the world having visited many times in the past (jury is still out on that one as there are a few top contenders for the 2nd spot) but I wish I was there during your visit to give you guys a proper tour of that bustling city. Im not sure how much you got to see in your short stay but I wish/hope you did get to explore LKF (LAN Kwai Fong), SoHo, Kowloon, WanChai, the Peak, Big Buddha, the many rooftops, bars and clubs (all with live entertainment) and also some of the shopping malls like IFC or K11, Avenue of stars and a star ferry ride across the bay…anyway, I’ve just subscribed, look forward to following your adventurous journey. PS: my favourite city in the world (and most visited) with there not even being a close 2nd is Rio de Janeiro….think it’s time you guys head down to Brazil (after all its carnival) and if you do and want tips, please feel free to ask. I saw that you walked pass the Vienna Mansion on Paterson Street, Causeway Bay. My childhood home was in that building. My grandmother's building, Towning mansion, was across the street. I stopped by the street a few times in my 3-week visit in September.

My favourite city in the whole world to live I've been there 4 years ago, I love it.
I love it, I was supposed to go to Hong Kong last year but couldn't. I still want to go, and that food looks terrific. Teslas are designed and built where I lived for 40 years, yet I just rode in one for the first time in San Francisco after my daughter's wedding dinner. I wouldn't buy one- it was very small inside and when we went over rough roads, 2 people's heads hit the roof very hard (we're not tall either).
it was such an experience! But no definitely not wanting to buy one anytime soon! that sounds painful haha! we felt so futuristic 😜

The "dud dud" sound u hear when you cross the roads in HK is tailor-made for the blind guys signifying them they can cross the road until the sound stops. It's similar to the traffic light for ordinary people.❤
14:11 hkd$36 as a cup of coffee is quite common in HK, however, many citizens do not buy it oftenly, but we can spend a similar price to enjoy the HK style breakfast as follows:
A bowl of noodles with egg and luncheon/ beef in satay sauce
A cup of tea/milk tea/coffee
Or we can spend a little bit higher with a extra bun or toast with better and ham / fried eggs.

HK is the perfect "cyberpunk" city where you see crazy skyscrapers, with neon lights and everything is so busy. I'm from Malaysia, and been to HK 10+ years ago, probably will make a visit there soon again, but, not for long term living to me.

If you guys were in Taiwan and now Hong Kong, China is a must go. I have been to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, US, China, to me China is the best, so many attractive places. Modern cities, ohh, fantastically clean and yet they maintained those thousands of years cultural and heritage sites, heaven-like mountainous landscapes..........the language barrier can be solved with Google translate, just make sure to use the offline feature (download Chinese language) so that you can still use it without internet connection. China do give 144 hours of transit visa at the moment.
We cannot wait to visit China! The visa is a little difficult for us but we are working on it 😍

Woah! i can imagine! it was slightly steep compared to SE Asia but i can only imagine the prices there. - especially rent 🥲
The perception is HK is expensive but in reality, you can live in HK in a cost effective manner if you choose to, but most expats live in their own “expat bubble” rarely mixed with locals, then you’re paying thru your teeth for everyday groceries. I’m a localised-expat, assimilated, learnt the language and considered myself a Hong Kong Chinese 😂. The reason HK is considered expensive, probably one of the most expensive city in the world, is because of the rent and the property prices.
A visitor can get by in Hong Kong fairly affordably, provided you know where to look. But to live longer term, the rent and property costs are exorbitant and that's where Hong Kong is infamous.
