I was meant to come over for work for about 6 months, that’s turned into 17 years now and still going. I absolutely love living here in Hong Kong. Welcome to hk😊😊 If you have time, go for a short hike and you will be even more surprised. You can actually walk all the way to Victoria peak from the tram/bus station, in about an hour, and you will love it.
Hope you guys will have time to visit one of our beautiful and well-maintained hiking trails. HK is not just about delicious food or fancy high end shopping malls … We have many beautiful country parks with world class hiking trails where international trail running races are held. And the best part is you can get back to the city centre within 40 to 60 minutes after a good hike for some delicious dimsum. 😋 That’s the characteristics of HK … Diversified, efficient, compact … and most importantly, safe.

FYI, there is another park between the Wong Tai Sin Temple 黃大仙廟 and the Chi Lin Nunnery 志蓮淨苑 (that place with the pond and lotus flowers you visited at Diamond Hill) for which is called Fung Tak Park 鳳德公園. The theme for Fung Tak Park is based on the famous Chinese novel 西遊記 (The Journey to the West). Inside there is an attraction called Cave of Water Curtain 水簾洞 , it's beautiful.
As a native chinese in hong kong, I welcome you two to the city, it is one of the best and I call it home. If you have time, go to aberdeen harbour which has remnants of the old fishing village that hk was known for. There are tours in old fishing boats to learn about some fishermen's story, and you'll have the best seafood. My dad side grew up there and there's a youtube channel called michael rougge who documented 80s hk where there were still large boat people there if you're interested. Truly a fascinating place!!!

One place I recommend for you is the 'Kowloon Walled City' at Kowloon side (It's a tourist spot and is located in Kowloon City area). I guess you may like it. I like Hong Kong, very convenient from cities to the green. You work hard on weekdays to make money and then enjoy countryside life on weekends. Go to Sai Kung you will find that it is very leisurable area, not hustle and bustle at all and it's very green there. Low salary tax rate , about 15%, is also one of the factors why so many expatriates they stay here. However, the real estate price is stunning. It's hard to make both ends meet.
Very close to HK Park is the HK Botanical Garden which is also free entrance. Take the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui where the Kowloon Park is and you’ll find a lot of very beautiful flamingos 🦩 there … FREE again! 😂❤
Yes we highly recommend it! We had a great time there and it was free. We didn’t end up seeing the flamingos but I’m sure if we stayed longer we could have seen them :)
Those people in the street with card board and tent are Philippino maids, they like to gather together in the street only on Sundays coz it's their holiday.
Foreign Domestic Helpers is the proper term, or just 'Helpers'. Predominantly from the Phillipines and Indonesia, population ~350,000. Sunday is their day off and they congregate mainly in Central and Cuasewayh Bay.
While enjoying the unique blend of natural view and city. The landscape is mostly because the government do not have enough flat land to build houses. And now they are trying to build in country parks and international-recognised wetlands. The dilenma between city and countryside is complicated.
OMFG i couldn't stop smiling watching this. This is why I want to move and raise my family in hong kong. I love nature, mountain, and international hub cities. Housing is very expensive but taxes and capital gain taxes are low. Retirement isn't bad too
HK is one of the cities in China. There are more to see in other cities in China. Each city and province is so unique. You will definitely like them. Really like yr introduction of the food, makes me hungry.
In the city center it was very busy but we tried to step outside of the direct center and see the mountains and the gardens! We hope you are doing well friend! It is nice to hear from you! :)
No in Hong Kong cash is king, they use their own currency Hong Kong dollar. Many places like certain restaurants are cash only. Also night markets too. You can load cash onto the transportation Octopus card, you can use this card at stores like a debit card.

July is a bit hot in Hong Kong and always have typoon, not the best weather to visit. Better visit between September to April.

Foreign Domestic Helpers is the proper term, or just 'Helpers'. Predominantly from the Phillipines and Indonesia, population ~350,000. Sunday is their day off and they congregate mainly in Central and Cuasewayh Bay.

While enjoying the unique blend of natural view and city. The landscape is mostly because the government do not have enough flat land to build houses.
And now they are trying to build in country parks and international-recognised wetlands. The dilenma between city and countryside is complicated.

OMFG i couldn't stop smiling watching this. This is why I want to move and raise my family in hong kong. I love nature, mountain, and international hub cities. Housing is very expensive but taxes and capital gain taxes are low. Retirement isn't bad too

Hong Kong is so overcrowded and one of the noisiest and busiest place on earth😫!!

Cash, credit cards? that's ancient in China nowadays since it's a cashless society 😂
No in Hong Kong cash is king, they use their own currency Hong Kong dollar. Many places like certain restaurants are cash only. Also night markets too. You can load cash onto the transportation Octopus card, you can use this card at stores like a debit card.
