- Finally... the 2023/2024 winter off season is over and race tracks are opening up all over the country. In this video we head to Firebird Raceway, Idaho to do some shake down runs after all the changes we made to the car this off season. Needless to say, my 1971 Chevy Nova race car LOVES the changes we made and ran two personal best ET's and MPH first pass off the trailer! Watch along as we sort through a couple small bugs and see how the fresh 383ci small block Chevy engine, fresh th400 transmission and new E85 fuel system does to start off our 2024 drag racing season.
A big thanks to the sponsors and companies that help make these videos happen.

That's awesome for 1st runs of the season. All your off season hard work is paying off.
Thank you! 🙌🏻
Congratulations Man !!!
Your knocking on the 9's
It rad to see you back on track, and it's got my motivation rejuvenated !!!
Thank you!! 🙌🏻
Awesome. I was figuring it would pick up half a second with the fuel change. Probably pick up a couple more hundredths once you get the hood back on.
That big of an ET gain is probably 60-70ish horsepower at that speed, which is pretty much what I thought it would do. E85 makes a huge difference on roots blowers!
I’m loving it!
Good job, might MPH even more with the hood on!
Very nice to see the improvement. Nice looking car, and I am happy for you. You know this already, but you have plenty of work yet to do. As a reference, I have a 71 Nova that is driven approximately 2500 miles per year, exactly how it goes down the track and has been together for 8 years or so. Drag radials 4.11 gears TH350 395 SBC power steering, steel hood, carpet, head lights, blinkers, insurance, tags and so on. Completely NA pump gas 3400 with me. 6.75 1/8 @101 DA 3500. PS do you need more gear ? Sounded like it at the end of the run. Keep going and you will be in the 9s. 😎
9’s is the hope one day!
Dude!! Those both rips were awesome! Makes it easier when the hot rod repeats 😁 and I’d love to support with buying a shirt but I need a 4xlt or 5xl 😁😁
It’s definitely nice when the car works! Leaves me no excuses now lol! I appreciate it and will get a couple more shirts headed this way!
Sweet I can snag em at the track too if that works
Congratulations
Thank you!
Must have had good air because I ran my personal best in the Luv that day. I will subscribe for sure bro, excellent channel, love the car.
Definitely had some good air! Thank you 🙌🏻
@@PLANBRACING you going to be out on the 6th or the 13th? I'm getting licensed hopefully the 6th.
@stefenvictor won’t be in town this weekend but I’ll be there on the 13th!
@@PLANBRACING cool maybe I'll see you out there. Hopefully I can get licensed this weekend so I can do testing on the 13th. This is my first year racing and I'm signing up for pro.
@stefenvictor sweeeet! 🙌🏻 stoked to have another in the class. You’ll love it! Good group of people out there
Awesome car!
Thank you!
Looking good with the back to back 10.260s! E-85 is going to be way more consistent than gas. Great vid once again. If it keeps leaking you might want to get new seals in your blower. But on another note if you have a temp gun could you should show blower temp before and after a run? Great to see the jump in performance!
That’s a good idea! I do have a heat gun. We’ll do a test in the next video 🙌🏻
Look back at my previous comment I said half a second 😂
Awesome!! I run solid mounts and a torque limiting rod from the frame to the head on the driver side obviously! It works great for my nova, 1.30 60’ 😁
I will definitely be upgrading to solid mounts. Already ordered them haha! A torque limiting rod wouldn’t be a bad idea!
Awesome could you send me a pic of the vacuum/boost reference location please
Nice car but, your engine needs a front plate.
Very badly! Next on the upgrade list
Who made your shirts ? they are great.
Thank you! They turned out amazing. Videos don’t do it justice. Konstant Design out of Florida did them for me!
What carb are you running on that blower??? I have the same one j7st not installed yet how much boost are you getting out 9f it ?? Thanks
It’s an 850cfm E85 carb from ATM! I have it set up for about 6.5psi of boost
Question ? What mirror is that in your nova and does it mount to the cage
It’s a curved mirror from Schose Industries! It’s meant for a side by side and mounts directly to the cage. Super nice!
@PLANBRACING extant thanks for the information. Your nova is really moving out. I'm going to have to watch your video again and see what you're 60' is . Nice ride
What subframe is that you have on your nova
Why does that motor tweak so much when you leave? Is there a broken motor mount or transmission mount?
I don’t have (but really need) solid motor mounts. Mine are a rubber not solid mount (same with the trans).
@@PLANBRACING I gotcha.. I was super nervous for you for a sec.. lol love the car and vids man, keep up the good work!
@SHONTONGA06 I’ve never made a pass without the hood before so that’s the first time I’ve ever seen it flexing that much. I just had both motor mounts off this winter and they were just fine so it’s been doing that for roughly 3 years of racing lol!
Thank you!
What shifter and trans is that?
Turbo 400 trans with a Precision Performance pro mod style shifter!
