      Blueprint makes a 632 with a warranty that crushes the GM on price. At current market value its 15.5k for a fully dressed ready to run 632 that will run on pump gas.
      There is nothing that will remotely come close to that value in a crate.
      There are tests of that specific motor making 850 out of the box and has survived dyno pulls north of 2k with 22-24psi of boost.

      1 There is nothing modern about forced induction, mercedes has been factory supercharging cars since the 1920s.
      2 The heads actually are extremely efficient which is why the thing is making over 1K at only 6600 RPM. Just one of those aluminum heads cost more than most people pay for a whole used car.
      3 More power from lower revs is always more efficient than a stressful delayed high RPM peak.
      4 The thing would run even better with a carburetor as proven by Engine Masters carb vs efi dyno shootout.

    • @damniambad
      @damniambad 2 года назад +4

      @@Impactjunky This tech have been used even longer than merc has superchargerd their engines. So this is more like how can we make the most low tech engine using best manufacturing technics in use today.
      Figures speak for them selves. Less than 100 bhp/per liter just screams a question of how much does it make when supercharged. And that's probably what happens for the most of these engines anyway. And two valves per cylinder aren't that much of a restriction with forced induction.
      My very very important and appreciated opinion here:
      Ford 1liter three cylinder turbo engine is more of an pinnicle of modern engineering than this. It actually makes that 100bhp/liter. Ten of those even weight less than 632. This is just "Let's take a truck engine and see how much can we cuddle out of it. By supersizeing it.".
      Now I'm not saying this isn't impressive. But this sure is not the best Cheavy can do with an engineer or two.

      @Impactjunky 2 года назад +4

      @@damniambad Nope, the big block Chevy hit the market in 58, long after the first supercharged cars of the 20's. There is almost nothing modern about the manufacture or design of this ZZ632 either. High flow aluminum heads were available in the 60's and people have been home building 632 Chevy's with and without aluminum heads and fuel injection for decades. Comparing the power per liter of a forced induction motor to a NA motor is like comparing apples to oranges so your comparison with that weak little three cylinder makes no sense. Also the word is pinnacle not pinnicle.

    • @damniambad
      @damniambad 2 года назад +3

      @@Impactjunky Oh you are right! It is spelled pinnacle.
      Other wise we can of course make whole new segment for zz632 so it can actually be good at something else than being big. Like the most american thing ever -segment. Or just best v8. Of this year. Made in america. And Is over 6,2 liters but under 12. And makes lot of noise. But not compared to displacement, cause its just too big for that.
      Any Ferrari NA engine is just way better in any way but the cost and there are lots of better oil burnes on the engine market that make torgue lower down and actually make some sense in a truck.

    • @youngrody2386
      @youngrody2386 2 года назад +3

      Hemishperical Cylinder Heads are better than the regular Penthouse Cylinder Heads you see in today's cars when it comes to making power, the only reason why you don't see them in the road today are the slight weight increase and emissions, both are not something a top fuel dragster would care about.

    • @nordic5490
      @nordic5490 2 года назад

      2 reasons:
      1. Marketing - the target market expects this ancient 60s tech, and,
      2. Limit top speed - the NHRA wants to keep the top speed down. Many tracks do not have the runoff room for higher speeds.
      A 4v dohc engine will make more power for the same combustion pressures.
      A turbo engine will make more power. 20-25% of top fuel engines power is used up driving the supercharger.

      @@nordic5490
      1.) Not really, the reason why the NHRA always used 60s tech is because it's not only cheaper than newer tech but is just the best in general for the goal of reaching the quartermile in the shortest amount if time possible. I'll explain it in my next point.
      2.) 4v DOHC aren't really good for low end torque as they require far more time for a sufficient amount of air to pile up inside the combustion chamber, meanwhile the 2v OHV layout restricts airflow which makes it torquier at the low end and with proper gearing of the transmission can grant the car a relatively smoother torque curve at the high end at the wheel. The 4v DOHC only makes equal amounts of torque a 2v OHV has at the middle or very end of its rev range, which is precisely the reeason why you see a lot of sports cars utilize SOHC/DOHC alot, it is solely because they are meant for tracking the car around the local race track and are designed to be driven at a certain rev range for peak performance, which doesn't really help Dragsters as they would start from a dead stop which decreases the amount of time the engine needs to create torque and power. Turbos would also take more time to spool and that would take far too long for the Dragster to really obtain peak power in the short amount of time it has to make both the 4v and the turbo to work, which may cause you time, time that would have otherwise have been instantly used with a torquey 2v High Displacement Pushrod and Blower that directly inputs power the moment you step on the gas.

      true, but the larger the displacement becomes, the harder it gets to make 100hp/l or greater due to the increased parasitic, viscous, friction, and pumping losses inherent to engines while operating. Those losses don't really scale linearly with displacement either. So yes, it's fantastic that modern honda 2.0l I4's make over 100hp/l. But taking that to the 10l extreme is significantly more difficult.
      If you want a more apples to apples comparison, take the honda's power at 6600 RPM (or 7000, doesn't really matter), and see if that comes out to 100hp/l. Honda's make great power because they've been built to handle high-RPM long duration loads. And since HP = (Torque x RPM)/5252, the higher the RPM, the higher the HP reading is capable of being, so long as appreciable torque is being produced at those elevated RPM levels.
      The really cool thing is that this N/A spark ignition engine is operating at a level of torque that's normally reserved for Diesel truck engines. To me, that's far more impressive.
