- After what has been a long few months off of racing and a laundry list of things to do to my 1971 Chevy Nova race car, I FINALLY got the chance to take the car on its maiden voyage to check for leaks, top off the transmission fluid and make sure the car drives straight and nice after the recent alignment. The sounds, the smell of the E85 and the feeling of being behind the wheel of the Nova (even though it's just cruising around on the street) has me super excited for the upcoming race season to see what the Nova will do after all the changes! Take a ride in the engine bay for the first cruise after the engine and transmission rebuild this winter!
Also, the new glass front windshield is installed from our last video and it looks amazing!

Yesss!
I'm so happy for you that you got it together. Sounds and looks good so far. Did you feel a difference in that short drive or is it to early to tell?
Too early to tell to be honest. Just sounds more rowdy!
What cam ?? thing sound amazing !!
Its comp cams 224/226 small supercharger/nitrous cam!
thank you again !!!!@@PLANBRACING
Hey bud is that an ATM carb.
Yes it is!
What your rear gears and what u running time wise? Have pretty close set up on a 65 chevy 2
4.30 gears. Been running 10.80’s - 10.90’s in Idaho which is normally around 5,000+ ft of air in the summer
@@PLANBRACING very very respectable...ur just running a Holley black for e85? Been wanting to convert myself..was wondering if the Holley black is enough if so that b sweet already have
@tonywiles515 I’m hoping it’s enough pump! I haven’t ran it down the track on E85 yet. I’ve learned the general rule of thumb is to run about 30% more fuel and the Holley black is about 30% bigger than the Holley blue I ran before. I also upgraded to -10 feed from a -6. Hoping it will be a good set up 🙌🏻
Are you going to football this year or use a delay box
No delay box in this car this year. Will be going off the bottom bulb with a transbrake!
@PLANBRACING ok good luck
@wallygator5479 thank you!
What do you think it will run
I’m not sure… I’d be stoked if it picked up a tenth or two! I really don’t know what to expect yet. The only information I have is from The Blower Shop telling me to expect around +40hp per pound of boost on ethanol vs about +30hp per pound on gas. I run about 7psi so maybe an extra 70hp this year?!
I’m watching yours closely. We are planning to build one this summer on methanol.
Just curious, will the blower put out more than 7 psi or did you decide to stay there?
Also, do you know how much your nova weighs?
@Hayman_racing nice! I’m actually not sure if it will make more boost or not… I was wondering that myself. I don’t think it will because I haven’t made any pulley changes nor will I be revving the motor any further… so I wouldn’t think it would make more!
My Nova weighs 2950 with me in it!
Can I ask what pulley and how many rpm you run?
